INTERESTING THREAD!!! Sometimes people forget that this is Nigeria and not the USA. In this part of the world people read meanings into all things. The day APC presents Buhari and Fashola as their flag bearers, just know that PDP and GEJ, has won that election, and I'd tell you why. - The APC is already seen in some quarters as a muslim party. I know someone would quickly mention Okorocha, and Amaechi, you'd be surprised to discover that some people in some quarters see those two as saboteurs of the SS and SE respectively. Fielding two muslim candidates would not help the APC's argument of being a circular party. -Buhari unfortunately for him, has already been tagged an Islamist in some quarters, even attempts made by him last election to take away that label, by appointing pastor Tunde Bakare as his running mate didn't work. So a pairing of Buhari/Fashola would also fail. -Fashola is only very popular in the SW. I've had reasons to travel to the SS and SE frequently in recent times, and I discovered that the name Fashola does not carry weight in those areas. Sometimes, I even pity the APC. If it fields Buhari, it would lose, cos the greater number of Nigerians still see Buhari as a military tyrant and an islamist, if it fields a young performer like Fashola, it would also lose, because Fashola is not as popular as the SW guys think he is. And APC still has some members who are just waiting to jump out of the party, the same way they jumped into the party. Eg Okorocha, those ones are professional jumpers. |
Please is it necessary to add personal data, like date of birth, nationality, sex, marital status, etc to a CV? Or should all or some of those things be left out. |
You're all asking for GMATS/workforce past questions nd you've all forgotten the question you should have asked first. Please if you know somebody who has gone through sterling bank test recently, ask the person if it's GMATS, or SHL numerical analysis. Cos I know most of these new generation banks don't use GMATS, they prefer using SHL numerical analysis (computer based) and verbal reason. So please let's find which one sterling uses. So guys preparing wouldn't prepare for something else nd end up seeing something else on the d'day. |
Nyben02:. It would be better for anyone who has an insider that can help him submit his CV, those security guys at the gate behave somehow, although it depends on who you meet on duty when you get there. My friend who I'm very sure is a sweet talker went there, but despite all his sweet talking skills, the guy at the gate was adamant that he should go to their website to fill a form. He eventually left there without submitting. Even if the gateman collects the CV, what assurance do you have that they'd submit it to where they'd submit it? I'm usually skeptical about dropping CV's at the gate. |
Please I wish to make somethings clear here. No one has been invited for a test (correct me if I'm wrong) you've all or let me say we've all been told to select preferred test location, and an acknowledgement mail has been sent to every one by auto response. This doesn't mean that anyone has been invited, as no one has been notified to come for a test at so so place and at so so date. I'm not trying to kill anyone's joy, but I know that sterling's recruitment age is 26, but if you're above 26 feel free to apply, you never can tell when the policy would be bent. Good luck to us all. |
All this forward to, forward to, have u guys been invited for the test? |
busuyem:. I didn't say people above 26 wouldn't get invited, I just said that may be the reason why some didn't get it. Now that you've clearified that, it just means that there may be other reasons why they didn't get it. You can ask any insider you have at sterling bank if you doubt me. I also added that this is like a program, but according to my reliable source people could get employed into the bank through it. So guys, please prepare for it, and put in your best. |
The age limit of sterling bank is 26, if you didn't receive any mail, it's probably because of that. That's the same reason why I didn't apply. Cos my reliable inside source at the bank's head office (who works on the same floor with the HOUR) said this is like a training program for graduates, though he concluded by saying people could be employed into the bank through the program. Congratulations to all those who received mails for test. This could be your passage into sterling bank, that's if you're still 26 or under. |
seagullbabz:. Exactly! that's what I want OP to understand. Don't come here sounding like you got the job because you were the most prepared candidate. Without God's grace, the interviewers could have walked you out of the room without even allowing you say a word. But keep dropping those tips, cos we're all learning from them. |
oghenebiko:. You don't get me, these same things you call strategies are the same things people copy on the internet and call them rules. I'm not undermining your presentation, neither am I saying one should attend an interview fasting and praying for God's favour instead of preparing for the interview. Just as you said, God's grace starts to shine on you the moment you get called up for aptitude test, but you still have to do your part by preparing for the interview. But my guy, give thanks to God, because you committed some errors that could have cost you the job. Don't think it was because of your perfect interview skills, I know somehow who mistakenly omitted his university degree from the CV he submitted to the panel, immediately he submitted the CV, the interviewers just went through it and said "we'd get back to you", he wasn't even given the chance to demonstrate his interview skills. Or what would you say about someone who has passed the test, passed all the stages of interviews, even did medical test but was never called for the job. My guy, you presentation skills helped you, but you made a mistake, a mistake that could have cost you, but God's favour on you made the guys overlook that. They could have walked you out, (without giving you an opportunity to say a word) for inproper dressing immediately you walked in. Or you think there were no better dressed applicants with perfect CV's who also had good or even better interview skills than you? You think you were the only applicant who went into the interview room well rehearsed? |
You say no rules but strategies. @Op, all na semantics. there's one sure thing, when God's favour smiles on you, if you like wear rags to an interview, you'd get the job. |
I've filled the resume form on their site, but I couldn't apply for any job cos most of the jobs are for experienced positions. Do I need to apply for any? |
Sterling bank age limit is 26. This is most likely for marketing positions. People wrote sterling bank recruitment exam last week. |
I've looked at this up, down, left, right and centre, and I'm still yet to figure out the category a fresh graduate can fit into. |
With regards this Lagos job, if you have the phone number of Bola Tinubu, you don get the job be that. Bola Tinubu alone has more powers to fix people, than any top civil servant has. |
A friend received a text from AIICO insurance inviting him to an interview for the job of a Client Officer. Pls what's the job of a client officer in an insurance firm? Is it the normal marketing that has just being called something else? |
ilori1930: I downloaded google chrome on my PC, took the test late in the night(12:15am) just to ensure better network quality, but immediately I clicked take test it brought a message that said my test has been submitted. This Global Profilers dont have a good webdesigner. Its so annoying!. Thank you. I wanted to sound this earlier when guys were blaming people who were not able to take the test. I personally know two guys who did exactly the same thing you did. One of them actually used a very strong broad band internet connection which has never failed him. He did it in the middle of the night just like you said, used google chrome as he saw on this page, and still encountered the same problem. It's a technical fault from globalprofilers, I've sent a mail since tuesday and even sent a reminder, yet no reply. I just hope they send us replies later. |
Never tell a lie in an interview. Some interviewers are after your composure, confidence level and vocal ability. If you're invited for an interview, it's because the interviewer has gone through your CV (in most cases) and already considers you employable. A lie could blow it all. For example you may lie that you were president of your CDS group during NYSC, which would make the interviewer ask questions like, tell us your achievements as president, what was the most challenging part of being a president, how were you able to carry out your projects, where did you carry out those projects etc. An answer to a question in an interview, can be used to generate other questions, if you tell a lie, be prepared to tell 10 more lies, and I assure you, you'd goof somewhere along line (except you have a Phd in the art of lying), thereby eliminating yourself. RULE 101 OF INTERVIEWS; fine tune your answers, sound intelligent, look confident, but NEVER TELL A LIE. For an intern or entry level position, don't forget to add this while answering the "can we meet you question"; I'm a fast learner and I'm keen to put what I've learnt into practice. For fresh graduates, who are yet to be employed, pick up a teaching job while you continue your job hunt, teaching boosts your level of confidence, I used to be shy, but teaching helped me overcome that. Now I go into interviews assuming the interviewers are my students, I look boldly into their eyes, and I respond to their questions in detail. |
Lero15: Your name, age, state of origin, sec skl, higher institutn wit dates, nysc, job experiences, family background (if specifically asked), and hobbies.. Those are the things everyone would say, if u say those, you wouldn't captivate the employer, cos he hears those same things from almost every applicant. The question "can we meet u?" means in other words, "sell urself to us" the best way to answer it, is to tell the interview all the above mentioned detalis, and quickly add the qualities you possess that u feel would make u excel on the job. |
Alcheringa: Can't you guys try re-registering, thus, retaking the test?. I've tried it. It didn't work. You can't register twice on the site |
Pls has anyone who had a problem with the test being contacted? I sent them a mail informing them of the problem I encountered yesterday but I'm yet to get a reply. |
i also have the same problem. i got a confirmation of my registration, but immediately i started the test it just submitted . |
I received a message from Job connect, inviting me to an interview tomorrow. Please who has an idea of what they're recruiting for? and who else got the message? |
Please what's the test like? |
Please I'd like to know the age of those who have been called for the test. Cos I know I applied, but didn't get any response from them. I'd like to know their age limit. That's if they have any |
I write this because anytime job seekers attend seminars on how to build careers or land jobs, the speakers at such events always advice the job seekers to pick up volunteer jobs for a start. Even here on nairaland, once an angry job seeker vents his anger about being unemployed, fellow nairalanders advice such a person to pick up a volunteer job. In other words, the idea being sold to job seekers is that volunteer jobs are everywhere, just go to any company closest to you, and they'd gladly absorb you in as volunteer. This is however, far from the reality. The reality in our society is except the job seeker knows the HR of the company personally, or has an insider who can help him/her talk to the HR, the job seeker would find it extremely difficult to get access to the HR, not to talk of telling the HR of his desire to volunteer. These days, immediately a job seeker gets to the gate of a company, he is stopped at the gate and asked where he is heading to, the moment he mentions the HR department(which he has to mention for the purpose of directions) he gets questioned and immediately he says something close to CV or letter, the men/women at the gate collect the letter or whatever application he has written from him. Whether these applications get to the HR's desk is, a story for the gods. I've come to realise that the best way to get a volunteer job, is to network with people, one day you may just be fortunate to find somebody who is a top person or knows a top person in a company, the person can help you talk to the HR. I say this because I've samped the opinion of job seekers who have gone to companies to seek for volunteer jobs, and they all have the same story to tell. Infact, a job seeker, once said in today's Nigeria, the stress you put in to get a volunteer job, is equivalent to the stress you put in to get a paid employment. Please friends, I'd like to know your job hunt / volunteer hunting experiences, and to people who were able to secure volunteer jobs, please how were you able to get it? |
taiwotosho22: tnx bro, I want to submit mine to. Hope is not late? Although I'm not in Lagos now I will find time to go dis wk. Pls can someone submit with cover letter?. No need for cover letter. Please anyone that is called should inform the house. |
GoldenDr: and you never came back with feedback.I just did. |
artisticallyart: how did it go?. I met with the owner. She said they can only afford to pay 20k (after saying she's very impressed with my performance) and even added that some staffs there re collecting below that. I said I'd get back to them nd I'm yet to get back to them. All these private schools sef. On CRSS matter, I'm happy I didn't fall into their trap, though I went for their written test at festac. In as much as I enjoy teaching, I have other options and I'm still far from my goal, which means I have to keep going for more interviews and other job hunt. Based on what I've read about CRSS, I don't think they'd be flexible enough to allow me miss school occasionally. For me, any school that wants to tie me down, at this stage should forget it. 7am - 6pm in a school for 50k monthly plus no holiday and delayed salary; no be me dem go do that one. |
