I received the mail. But each time I try to generate password, I receive a blank mail from sterling. Pls who else is in a similar situation? Amd what's the way out? Thanks. |
aresa:I disagree 100%. If you haven't been to akwa ibom, then don't compare Fashola with Akpabio and say Fashola performed 100% more than Akpabio. Let those who know akwa ibom and lagos be the judge here. Lagos is Lagos. Lagos has what no other state in Nigeria has. But the Akpabio's achivement, can stand alongside Fashola's achievement. As I said earlier, let people who know Akwa Ibom as much as I know it be the judge. I refuse to be decieved by any party be it APC or PDP. Performance I insist is an individual thing, not a party thing. No party stops it's governors from performing. Those governors you listed are massive failures. But I'd never blame their party . Instead I blame them and their supporters. PDP never stopped them from performing. They didn't perform because they didn't want to. Ironically, if any of those non performing governors decides to jump into APC today, APC would gladly receive them and even make them their flag bearers. I've said my 2k. I don't vote for parties or look at parties. I'm not a politician and I won't be decieved by any politician. PDP and APC na the same thing filled with the same thieves, criminals and saints. NOTE; Anambra is for APGA not PDP |
torkaka:It doesn't work like that. It's not mathematics. The days old men having a field day in Nigeria's politics is getting to an end. This may be the end of Gemade's political ambition. I've asked people around Benue, Gemade doesn't have a stronghold in that senatorial zone, as he did almost nothing for the people while he was there, now he has to contest against a sitting governor. PDP isn't as dull as APC guys think they are, in Enugu, and Delta, PDP forced the governors to step down their senatorial ambition, but they didn't do same in Benue. You think they didn't calculate? Even Uche Chukwumerije who was by far more vibrant than Gemade in the senate, lost at the primary. Nothing for all those old men again. Do your homework, ask people around, Gemade would need a miracle to return to the senate. |
aresa:My friend, these two parties are the same. The APC is just louder because it is the opposition. Both parties have criminals, thugs, and saints (that's if they even have any). If you mention Fashola from APC, someone can Mention Akpabio from PDP. Nd guess what? Apkabio didn't make the people pay taxes through their nose or have as much IGR as Lagos or borrow as much as Lagos did for him to perform. Okorocha makes so much noise on TV, but if you've ever being to imo state, you'd be shocked at the number of uncompleted projects you'd see. Performance is an individual thing not a party thing. I remember the case of Donald Duke in cross river state. Somebody cannot be a thief in PDP, then cross over to APC and automatically become a saint. I laughed when I heard the case of the former PDP chairman (who should be retiring from politics now) decamping to the APC and picking the party's senatorial ticket some hours later, or has he suddenly become born again after losing the PDP primaries? The change APC promises is just a change in Party name, not a change in individuals. If Buhari (a former head of state becomes president, will you call that a change or a recycle? What would you say about Atiku also? My guy, PDP, APC, they are the same set of people, the same criminals, who just went to hide under three initials called party name. |
I like to avoid going into political debates, but I'd jump into this one. It's funny that in Lagos state, APC can't use it's usual change slogan, because they'd be screaming continuity, while PDP will be screaming change. We need to note that these political parties are being smart. As it is in Rivers, so it is in Lagos, fielding the wrong candidate can spell doom for the PDP there, so they had to ensure they field a candidate that would at least give the opposition sleepness nights. Obanikoro cannot challenge APC in lagos, that's why the party high command had to pick Agbaje. The move for Agbaje was made from Abuja. Talking about godfathers in politics, it cuts across both parties, but that of Tinubu in lagos state is alarming. Tinubu can sit in his bedroom and determine what happens. I still haven't forgiven him for stopping Senator Mamora (one of the most active senators then) from returning to the senate in 2011 and replacing him with his wife (Oluremi Tinubu) I'd love to see a Lagos where Tinubu is politically irrelevant. PDP has a way of flushing it's old members, so I think the days of Bode George as godfather of lagos PDP are numbered. For that reason, I'd give Agbaje my vote. Let Tinubu become irrelevant |
I just received the email. Please is it compulsory to go there with a printed copy, cos It's late and there's no cafe around here to print it. Guys who were there today. I hope I can get a place around the venue to photocopy my Id card? |
I also got the sms but didn't receive any email to that effect. Can I go to the fair without the mail? Please how do I get to the venue for oshodi? Thanks guys. |
The first time I saw these pics I laughed. Buhari's campaign manager is just trying to package the man by force. |

I've gone through all comments here, and in as much as I'm not a huge fan of GEJ, I don't see any reason why he should be booed by OAU students, and some students are even proud about it like they just took part in an olympic game. What was the booing for? When ASUU went on strike demanding university autonomy, people didn't understand the enormity of that demand, eventually the FG agreed to ASUU's demand, not only were the university's given autonomy, they were also given millions of naira as a result of their last strike. Don't tell me now, that you expect the FG to look into the internal affairs of universities after granting them autonomy. If the VC of OAU has decided to increase the fees of the school, it has nothing to do with the president. If he has decided not to utilise the millions he was given for the development of the school, I see no reason why students should channel their aggression to the president. My dear OAU students, hold your VC responsible for whatever you face in your school. If you need the presidents assistance on any issue, write politely to him. Booing only makes you look like thugs. |
Please when is Lagos fair coming up? I heard it's likely to be on the 8th, please how true is that? Thanks. |
MadCow1:You're ashamed while I'm scared. The statement made by Amaechi that if the elections are rigged his party would not go to court but would form an alternative government and wait to see what would happen falls in line with what we saw on thursday. Those men did what they did with the mindset of "let whatever thing that would happen happen". If everyone takes laws into their hands that way, then I fear for the country. I still stand my ground that the police was wrong and the IGP should be questioned, but the lawmakers were also wrong. What's wrong is wrong no matter how we paint it. |
Why hasn't anyone said anything about David Mark who was also delayed for about an hour before he was eventually allowed in? Two wrongs can never make one right. When people who are supposed to be role models in the society showcase acts of indiscipline, I'd never support that. We have seen a situation where a lawmaker in Rivers state used the maze of the house to "break" another lawmakers head right in the presence of the police. We've seen 7 lawmakers gather to carry out a Kangaroo impeachment (Ekiti). We have lawmakers who now have their meetings in the state governors office, just for the sake of shutting out the opposition members(Edo). On thursday a lawmaker threatened to slap the senate president. Even after the senate president closed the assembly, some lawmakers still went ahead to sit (showing great disrespect to the office of the senate president) My guys, this is not just about gate scaling or fence scaling, or party politics. It's about the mess that politicians are showcasing. Politicians now respect the law only when it favours them. There's indiscipline all around our political scene, I can't support something today and say it's wrong tomorrow. What happened on thursday was a show of shame on the part of all involved. Well, it's one out of the many show of shame. |
Bobbysworld28:Truce. Oya come make we go drink pepper soup and beer together, while we watch chelsea play. |
OrlandoOwoh:Very good answer. You have just provided an answer. The president CAN authorise the IGP to carry out a duty. Now let me interpret that, please correct me, if I'm wrong( I love to learn). The president has powers to authorise the IGP, but the IGP can also send his troops to wherever he feels there's likely to be trouble with or without the knowledge of the president that's all I'm saying. My point now is the IGP sent his boys to lock up the NASS, which I consider absolutely wrong. But did he get that order from the Mr President? Maybe yes, maybe No, that's something I can't say. All we can do is make guesses. |
arent88:Ask around, check the constitution, ask students of government. The IG of police, has powers to send his troops where he wants, and when he wants, without the knowledge of the president. The police is an institution, that can make it's own decisions. I'm not sounding neutral. I'm actually neutral. I believe Nigerians have to be careful, if not, these two parties, PDP and APC would tear us apart (God forbid). Both parties desperation for power is what I fear. Both parties have all sorts of men in their fold. But as far as this issue is concerned, I can't point a finger at the president and say he instigated it. |
Bobbysworld28: bamosagie: Marvin67: Bobbysworld28: bamosagie:. Thank you pointing out the same thing I'm trying to make him understand. Nigerians have to be very careful how we draw conclusions on political matters. I say this because in politics people can go to any length to get sympathy. Maybe the presidency was involved, but there are no facts linking the presidency to what happened. If you have facts, please let me know. |
Bobbysworld28:I usually comment on nairaland without quoting people, and if when I quote, I NEVER make derogatory statements. I wonder why you're quick to add something derogatory to your post. Please don't try to start a war of words with me, because I won't even continue or respond to you. Now to your question. Yes it is possible for the IG of police to do what he did without consulting the president. The police is an institution and the IG doesn't have to inform the president before he makes every move, are you aware that the Vice president summoned the IG on friday? Do you think the PDP can carry out a plan without the knowledge of the senate president? Read punch newspaper of friday and you'd realise that even the senate president was delayed for up to one hour before he was eventually granted entry. Now watch this video and you'd realise that speaker and his entourage didn't last up to 15mins outside before they took laws into their hands. Once again, as I said earlier, I'm not saying the president wasn't a part of what transpired, I'm just saying I don't have any fact to back his involvement in the issue. if you quote me again, please don't use any derogatory term. We are gentle nairalanders, and not gate-scaling, or abusive representatives. |
I will never commend an act of indiscipline. What is wrong is wrong. Two wrongs can't make one right. Those reps showed a great deal of indiscipline to the world, and I wonder why people commend them. The police was also wrong in their act and I feel the IG of police should be questioned (David Mark has already summoned him). Howcome no one is considering that the senate president was also delayed by the police for about an hour before he was eventually allowed in? Howcome some people fail to realise that the reps shut out were both from the pdp and apc? Will the pdp shut out it's own members if it had plans to impeach Tambuwal on that day? Is it right for members of the house of reps to shout at, abuse, and even assault the Senate president ? My fellow nairalanders, don't allow party affiliation cloud our sense of judgement. Let's judge based on facts. The police was wrong, the lawmakers were wrong, and we can't say it was an order from the presidency because there are no facts backing that. |
These two political parties would destroy nigeria if we are not careful. If both parties really have the interest of Nigerians at heart, then what stops both from working together? Why can't we have an APC governor and a supportive PDP house, or vice versa ? Must there be issues involving both parties all the time? |
philips70:. There's no smoke without fire. I used to be one of these of the opinion that there's a propaganda against Buhari but I realised that Buhari is not the only northerner in nigeria's politics, neither is he the only muslim, so I wonder how this tag of a religious bigot got stuck to him and him alone. Think again my man, there's no smoke without fire. |
Tambuwal can not be trusted. He's like a bat that tells both the birds and the mammals that he's one of them. From ANPP to PDP to APC. I'm sure he's not through with him jumpology. I can assure you that we've not heard the last regarding his ambition. Don't be surprised to hear his aides say he's still in the presidential race. Don't be surprised if he dumps APC in 2015,. |
