Jobs/VacanciesRe: Would You Accept An Offer With A Salary Like This? by Marvin67(op): 9:01pm On Sep 08, 2014
Thanks guys. I'd have to give them a response on thursday.
I welcome the opinion of everybody on this thread cos it's making me see this from different angles.
Staying at home is horrible. I've lost count of the number of places I've submitted my CV, both online and in person.
I've also thought of picking up a volunteer job, but all the companies around here are factories in need of labourers.
I'm still hoping of getting that dream job.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: My List Of Regret Mails. I Need Advice Please by Marvin67: 5:36pm On Sep 04, 2014
I'd keep saying the same thing I've always said in threads like this. @Op, at least you have a job. Some don't have any, yet they keep getting regret mails. Talking of regret mails, I received one yesterday. The key to getting a job is GOD's GRACE, I know someone who just graduated from the university, and got a job with a multi national firm without knowing anybody or even writing test, not to talk of interview (na 2.2 the guy get o). I also met someone today who passed test, passed interviews, did medical but when he was invited to pick up his offer letter at the bank, to his greatest shock, he was told he has passed the age limit, and for that reason he was dropped.
My dear brothers and sisters, to me this is the equation you need to get a job GOD's grace= 60%, Academic qualification=10%, GMATS knowledge=15%, Interview skills=15%. So na GOD's grace we need pass because with only that 60/100, we don pass be that, while without His grace, we end at 40% and that's a near pass, so close yet not good enough to take you through . When HIS Grace smiles on you, the job would come looking for you, if u like, hide inside hole the job would find you.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: Federal Ministry Of Health Massive Recruitment August 2014 by Marvin67: 8:02am On Sep 03, 2014
Dammyllionaire: When will this people call nw?
If this is really from the ministry of health, then I advice you to leave it to destiny and forget about it. I applied when ministry of foreign affairs said they were recruiting, and that was sometime in june, this is september, and no one has even heard anything.
Ministry recruitment can take a year. People are still applying for this one. I'm sure the guys at the ministry haven't even checked their mail box. If you know anyone that's yet to apply, you can advice them to keep sending their mails. If you have any big man at the top, you can ask him for assistance. I can bet you a lot of things are going on underground now about job. May God help us all.

Jobs/VacanciesRe: The Over-hyping Of First Class Honours In Nigeria by Marvin67: 10:18pm On Sep 02, 2014
I've read all sorts on this thread. Including the good the bad and the ugly posts. Here's my opinion.
@Op. Yes, to an extent, graduating with a first class is over hyped. But that's the same way studying GMATS is over hyped, Preparing for Interviews is over hyped, and developing yourself is over hyped.
All those are very necessary because it gives you an edge (no matter how small) over others. However, I've come to realise that nothing gives a person a Job faster than the Grace of God upon that person's life and who you know (especially in Nigeria). I know what I'm saying.
This is how it works. Okay, you have a first class degree, that's fantastic. You apply for jobs, note that even if the employer requests for applications from only first class holders, he'd still get thousands of applications. You're invited for test, where you'd face GMATS, at the point, forget your university first class. You eventually pass the test, you get invited for an interview, infact at this stage, your first class becomes more of a liability, this is because the employer wants you to prove you're a first class material, he therefore fires questions at you, you have no excuses not to perform, because you're an almighty first class holder. You pass the interview stages and go for a medical. At this point fast and pray that one "oga at the top" doesn't remember that he has one unemployed cousin somewhere, cos if he remembers, he'd most likely remove one name from the list of successful applicants. So at this point, your first class can't help you. Only God can direct his hands to pick another name and not yours.
All said, please don't misunderstand my point. Getting a first class is fantastic, studying GMATS is very necessary, preparing for interviews is very important. But most important of them all, is the Grace of God, because that grace can make even a third class holder get a good job without going through any of the recruitment stages.
Lastly op, three months without a job is nothing. I woke up last week to realise that I've stayed for six months. Just keep yourself busy. Look for a teaching job, let children benefit from your first class brain.

DoveQueen: mehn those people treated us as if we were writing waec. We were given a que paper to ans. I don't know if its waec or neco cos the exam name was wiped out for reasons best known to them. Obj 60questions, theory ans 5 from section A and B. Then write a lesson note on any topic of your choice in 5mins. It is well
Pls were you interviewed after writing the test?
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Bureau/sol Nigeria Test And Interview by Marvin67: 11:08pm On Aug 26, 2014
If you're waiting for the next stage, you'd be invited to SOL office at Lekki next week. If you don't want to do a marketing job, don't even bother going. Except you're 23 and have an OND or you're 25 and you have a HND.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Bureau/sol Nigeria Test And Interview by Marvin67: 7:16am On Aug 26, 2014
UcLloyd: What's A DSA? And what's the pay like? Am a bsc holder and am above 25yrs, am in abuja, I just want to know whether is worth taking flight to lagos.
Trust me, it's not worth it. Count ur teeth with ur tongue, a very serious job interview wouldn't be held in a church. It's a marketing job. The church is adjacent to my house, but I wouldn't even bother gatecrashing cos I know SOL. All the same, if u have plenty of money u can give it a shot.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: I Was Called For An Interview From Strategic Outsourcing Ltd by Marvin67: 9:07pm On Aug 25, 2014
saoseun: Just got an Invite from SOL pls help wat should i expect and who re they recuiting for... plzz i need answer from any one in the house thanks
I got an invite from them too to go for second interview, but I won't go. Cos I already know what they're recruiting for. It's a DSA job in a bank. Except u have OND nd you're 23, or u have HND nd you're 25. Minus that, it's a DSA job. I got a DSA job through them some months back but I didn't pick up the job. Looks like SOL has a huge contract to supply banks with marketers.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Job Bureau/sol Nigeria Test And Interview by Marvin67: 8:43pm On Aug 25, 2014
If you have OND and you're 23 or you have HND and you're 25, it's a bank teller job. But if you're above that age or you're a bsc holder, then it's a DSA job. I just don't know the bank they're recruiting for this time. Don't say I told you ooo. I just told you what I know of SOL things change, this recruitment may be different.

SenatorJames: I thank God for your life. "weeping may endureth for a night, but joy cometh in the morning". May the morning of other job seekers come quickly in Jesus name.
. Amen.
Jobs/VacanciesRe: Things That Annoy You About Job Hunting? by Marvin67: 12:25pm On Aug 24, 2014
Friends and relatives asking you for money, even though they know you're jobless.

Having to write those GMATS test which even the HR can cannot answer all in 3 hours, yet he expects you to answer all in 30minutes.

Relatives using your situation as an opportunity to invite you to their church programs, (as if God doesn't answer prayers in your own church).

Using your last #500 as tp to the head office of a telecomms company, just because a concerned friend asks you to do so. You get drenched by the rain on your way there, only for you to get there and be told by the aboki at the gate to go to their website. (Meanwhile, the website says no vacancy, and there's no provision for submission of CV.

Going for interviews, only to discover that it's a DSA job for a bank, with ridiculous targets.

Old friends call you and the first question they ask is "how work?

Things plenty jor. Let me leave space for others to drop theirs. All the same I thank God these are all stories now.

Please guys, should we send a cover letter, or the normal application letter? Cos they demanded for an application. So should it be a cover letter, or just an application letter ?

I just hope it's not a DSA job in a bank.
