Does anybody have an idea of what we should be expecting? |
The bank job written/oral interview is Wednesday 20th August by 9am at odi-olowo/ojuwoye LCDA,Town Planning Way,ilupeju,Oshodi,Lagos.Call 08072190620 or 013428341. |
If you're sending it by mail, the position you're applying for should be the subject of the mail. Eg. Application; Banking Officer. Be careful with the age thing because the prospective employer may stop reading your letter the moment he discovers you're above the age limit he has in mind. If you're sending it by mail, you don't need to add the company address or your address, but don't forget to add your name at the end. |
Abeg all these things about jobs and the best way to get them are becoming to sound like music. I don't doubt any of the points raised by the article. They're all vital points. I just want to point out that two factors give people jobs faster than any other factors in Nigeria, those two things are 1. Who you know. 2. The grace of God. Who do you think would get a job faster between someone who knows almost all the middle class people in his church, street and every where he goes to , and someone who has just one uncle in as a permanent secretary in the federal civil service? So many people have tried everything they've seen on the net, some people may even change their names, just because they want a name that maybe flows with the name of the company they're applying to, yet they don't get the job. Some just graduate from the university, apply naively for one job and they get the job ahead of all the experienced job applicants who know all tricks of tailoring their cv's and cover letters. As I said earlier, I'm not disputing any of the points, they all work. I'm just saying nothing works faster than the Grace of God upon a person, and no networking works faster than having "one top oga at the top" in Nigeria. |
Are u sure about interviews held last week? Na wa o. Nigeria just won't change. |
Any school around amuwo odofin? I'm a sociology graduate, over a year experience in teaching government, and civic education. I have good communication skills. Thanks in advance for any assistance. |
Are the common mouse we see around inside the house carriers of the ebola virus? Because we were trying to chase a mouse out today when my brother stepped on the mouse with his bare foot. Though there was no blood from the mouse, I just want to one if one can contact the virus from mouse or normal rats. |
@op. What if you don't know the name of the HOUR or relevant manager? Is it proper to use Dear sir/Madam in such a case? |

I passed out of service one the 14th of february, and returned to lagos with high expectations, let me also add that I was never a bad student in the university, by God's grace, I didn't fail any course, nd I graduated with a 2.1. When I returned to lagos, I attended some tests and interviews, got no response, the only response I got was from those scammers asking for 9500 to train u and those DSA jobs with ridiculous targets. On the 5th of may, I decided to pick up a teaching job somewhere close the school offered to pay me 10k and even though friends and relatives adviced me against taking it, I decided to took the offer because I was already tired of staying at home doing nothing. At the end of the term, the owner of the school said I wouldn't be part of the summer lesson (he didn't like my idea of going out for interviews at all) he said he wasn't happy with the way I worked (God knows I gave my best to the students and never missed writing or submiting my lesson notes). I therefore decided that I'd not return to the school even when schools resume. I'm searching for any other school or any small job now, while I keep praying that something big comes up. I've not lost hope, and I won't lose hope. I believe we'd all get to our destinations, it's just a matter of time. My advice to all in this same sitiuation, is; don't allow anybody make u feel worthless, keep developing yourself in any way you can, keep applying and keep hoping. And if you'd accept any small stop gap job, make sure it is not one that would tie you and expect you to sit with them like you have no other ambitions. Don't forget, the key word is, "NEVER LOSE HOPE" |
The interviewer asks do you have any question after an interview and I reply "no". |
Has anyone been called for interview? |
Hmmm DSA job. The most dreaded job in the Nigerian labour market. Now this is it. You'd have to evaluate. First u said u earn 18k monthly at ur present place of work. Is the 18k after expenses? Do u have to pay tfare to work? The 40k the bank would give u is not called salary cos that's the money they expect u to do all ur running around with. If u meet the target of 5m, u get a bonus, but don't depend on that. Calculate based on that 40k, at the end of the month, u may be left with just 20k after transport cos as a DSA you'd do a lot of running around. But then again, it gives u a different kind of experience, and adds as a boost to your cv. I've rejected two DSA jobs with two different banks and I have no regrets about it but I won't advice u to reject this one straight away. I'd rather say u should evaluate it, look at ur person, ask urself what u want, and look at the other opportunities u have or that re likely to come up, then make a decision. At the end of the day, lagos is not about how much u earn it's about how much u can save |
Shame on the first two guys who commented on this thread. If you don't have something encouraging to say to someone in who needs help, please keep shut, instead of further killing the person's spirit. @op. You'd get a job, there are some jobs that don't specifically state any discipline, some others request for applications from all social science graduates, keep applying for those ones. Just make the internet your best friend in your job search, you'd surely get jobs. You should also develop yourself in whatever ways you can, Nigeria has gone beyond what you study, jobs in Nigeria now depends on what you can do and in some cases, on who you know. Keep praying, open your eyes and your ears , you'd surely get a job. Don't let anyone kill your spirit |
Hmmmm. Looks like accepting that job would mean putting oneself in a stagnant position for at least 2 years. 2 years of receiving a mediocre salary and 2 years of no escape. May God help the unemployed in this country. Think wisely guys. Nothing is better than freedom. Why shoot urself in the foot? |
