ekefre4: It cranks well only that it doesn't start. Sometimes I have to press the gas before it's starts It could be a whole lot ranging fron a weak fuel pump, bad refernce mark sensor, bad phase sensor etc. A proper diagnosis is needed. Which should be commenced by running a comprehensive scan, that would narrow it down to the problem there after a solution can be given. chisunday: Dear Nairalanders, pls I went to aba to look for a diagnosing centre to scan my Camry v6 2000 model that would not accelerate after throttling while in motion.but when I off the engine for a while and start it again would begin to accelerate.I couldn't find any except a mechanic who told me it is a fuel pump problem, that I need to change it.He then brought out a fuel pump from his car and told me its 3000 naira and that it will solve the problem. But I discovered that when he was changing the fuel pump he used black waterproof to tire the scratched positive and negative wire and then insert the pump into the fuel. Pls how safe is this considering the fact that fuel is or could be touching the wires? When I ask him of the safety of the job he did said no problem.I paid him and drove from aba to portharcourt without experiencing the acceleration problem at least for that yesterday. Very very dangerous. You should know better. A slight spark in the tank and you know the rest of the story. Its better you have them taped properly. There are tapes for electrical connections you could get one |

futurenix: I Need Help My 2003 Nissan Pathfinder has been shutting off while driving and sometimes in traffic coupled with irregular hard starting. After the shut off, it will start again but in hard starting.
I have changed the ignition Fibre, the cold starter switch as suggested by mechanic and it still persist.
The crank shift position sensor has been tested and it's okay ( though I can't confirm) .
There's no jerking while in motion and the movement is very smooth from which we ruled out fuel pump.
Have also tried injector cleaner but to no avail.
Please car gurus or anyone who have experienced a similar case and corrected it I need your help. Run a scan on your car. A scan would narrow it down to the likely problem(s). If youa re in lagos and you need proper trouble shooting and fixing call 08156087872 or 08165520837, bbpin is 7BE1C522 |

proffc: Hello House,
I'm in dire need of assistance. I just replaced the engine of my P10. But the heat gauge is in the high - the red point actually.
I have washed the radiator, the thermostat has been removed (as advised by my mechanic, because according to him we live in a hot weather), changed the top-gasket, bleed the heating system (this is how I did it - I let the engine run, then drain the water out and put in fresh one) and my radiator fan is always on.
I should mention though that the previous engine had these same system, but never over heated except for when the radiator fan wasn't working.
Also, there's no power in the Number 1 (counting from the left whilst facing) plug (same problem as the previous engine). The nozzles have been tested and the work fine. The fuel pump also works perfectly well.
Please assist as I do not want to throw money down the drain (the engine cost a arm and a leg)
Thank you. One chance market |

Steps to prevent any harm would be taken in as realistic ways as possible.

Denn: Hello All
Due to a thread that was opened recently on car talk as regards a particular fuel treatment product that was introduced, I have decided to conduct an independent test on the efficacy of the said product.
After detailed discussions with the product seller, i agreed to test the fuel treatment product and present the details. Am keen on this result. But just have it at the back of your mind that you might be causing more harm than good in what sense if you ask? Whatever dirt you have in your fuel tank is driven down to your noozles thereby blocking them. A misfire is the end result. If you need to cleaning up your noozles come to multi auto lab where we use more advanced technology called the fuel injection tester with ultrasonic cleaner. It works better and its much contemporary, here are its features Leak test Spray pattern test Reverse flushing Ultrasonic cleaning And many more, your noozles would never remain the same |

tosin2013: All the gurus in the house i hail o!
pls i need a critical comparison btw both suv, as i am presently confused.
Toyota i know are highly reliable, and av good resale value.
But just aw good is the volvo? Or bad? It is good to know the volvo comes in either a 6cylinder or 8cylinder both an All wheel drive (AWD) The Rav4 (2004) bulit with an i4 engine. I wouldn't know if that same model comes with a 6 cylinder engine. What this in turn means is that the volvo would definitely consume more Cost of maintenance- it is good to know that the volvo is a swedish product, durable but cost of maintenance is high, parts are available but not on the increase as that of the toyota Toyota on the other hand being a Japanese product makes its part affordable and readily available Cost of maintenance- volvo definitely higher than toyota If you are going for neither of both cars. Stay away from road side mechanics. The volvo definitely doesn't like abuses. If it sets in you might end up getting frustrated with the ride. Not to forget the ecu of the volvo xc90 is Bosch made am cool with that cos there inventions are for life |

esiri4jesu: Hello gurus in the house, l need to know what could be the cause of my sienna dragging when moving. It does not select as expected when accelerating. When you apply the throttle for it to accelerate it will decelerate instead with a spitting sound from the exhaust. I will then release the throttle and it will now pick gradually. Sounds like a blocked exhaust system. I wouldn't rule out a bad transmission |

diportivo: Evening house
I av been flirting with getting a 2002 mitsubishi montero sport for a while now
Mechanics and electricians, former owners and enthusiasts that i av met and discussed with have said its not a good buy.....with specific respect to how the engines dont last
Personally i av observed that a lot of mitsubishi cars smoke...and i think that maybe, just maybe its largely due to abuse i.e,using the wrong grade of oil etc
I am of the opinion that using the right oil and filter as at when due will make the engine last longer.....but all those iv spoken to seem to disagree..that mitsubishi make bad engines and dats all
So,my question is....what really is the problem with mitsubishi engines? Factory error. You don't wana get the mitsibushi GDI 2000. Worse than the ones you know |
Car Talk › Re: Parasitic Drain On My Car Battery by mayor2013: 9:04pm On Jan 13, 2016 |
cecegorz: UPDATE! UPDATE!!
I got a Rewire yesterday who came in with one pen bulb with cord, so we pulled out a good battery from another car and kick-started mine, he connected the pen bulb to one of the battery terminals and the bulb came on. I expected the dude to come over with a Voltmeter and take readings from some terminals, but he never did. (This is Nigeria where we test live cables with tongue) He said normally the bulb should go off after a few mins if all connections are in order, but the bulb kept beaming. So, he opened the fuse box, started yanking and replacing the fuselage one after the other, while watching to see when the pen bulb will go off, eventually the light never went off. He advised that I'll need to bring it down to his workshop for a comprehensive scan today, as the preliminary checks didn't turn up any issue. Later he removed the battery while the engine is still running and installed back my battery allowing it to charge up. As my battery charged up, he shut the engine and removed one of the cables (to avoid draining again) on the advise that when I'll leave in the evening, I'll replace the cable and then drive home. I was supposed to repeat the cable removal process when i get home in the night, and replace in the morning to start. So, in the evening I replaced the cable, cranked the car to life and went home, but I deliberately didn't want to remove the cable again. I was preparing for another drama in the morning but surprisingly, when I cranked it, the battery was alive to it's duty and the engine came on immediately, so instead of going to the Rewire's workshop, I went to the office straight. As I parked, I still didn't remove the cable, just trying to see if it will drain again. I just went to the car park now, and checked again, cranked and the car came alive!
I guess I can now assume that the world peace has been restored? P.S. I called the battery dealer to keep my old battery for me, as I can see from these outcomes that the battery is still in good condition
cc: ZIMDRILL, GAZZUZZ There is something draining up your battery voltage. Further diagnosis need to be done |

ARABICAN: Base on several advice on which car to go for with the level of my budget, my car landed in Nigeria in December, on the 1st of January this year was my first day to cruise it around Abuja city ( thanks to God and to the advicers on NL)
Now, the people am trying to avoid by visiting their shop often (mechanic) has started with bring your car to our shop, any mechanic that see my car say is very clean and the engine is just like new BUT HAVE YOU REMOVE THE THERMOSTATS! The first person, the second person and now the third person, I am so worried and skeptical in listening to advice of them touching the car, not even on the engine.
My office mechanic advice I should leave it since am not using it for commercial.
Please, the expert and the experienced pals online, what did you do to your own or what will you advice.
Thanks. Remove your thermostat and see the death of your engine |
