I think Ajimobi was a Senator. He became Governor, now wants to go back to Senate. I suspect he will later express interest to contest for Governor few years from now.

Oyo, Ekiti and Ogun are just recycling Governors. Same names and faces for past 16yrs.

Wike was Patience's thug. After Amechi went nPDP mode Mama Peace needed a counter force in Rivers. That was the beginning of MACE whipping in House of Assembly and the energence of Wike.

Any State that wants to have the type of Excellence in Lagos must vote candidates the manner it is done in Lagos. Tonye is a good fit for that template. He has proven track records one can use to legitimize his candidacy and hope for great things. Minds can be at rest.

If you are reading this and your state is still in the hands of thugs, I implore you to find a Tonye Cole to elect in your state. Every state has someone like this. Bring them out....those are the ones people should buy forms for and elect in.

It is called outsourcing. The nature of the work or activities required to complete tasks are the same whether you are employee or contractor. The difference is they outsourced staffing to a hiring firm who contracts the position out at a lower wage rate. In certain cases there are second tier outsourcing....where the hiring firm even outsourced the contract to another hiring firm. Oil is a primary attraction in the employment market and so we rush to join oil companies because of the attractive wages and benefits. The people they hire are skilled in their field. So that attraction should not be trivialized, not by the oil company, not by the minister.

Moreover, how would the minister thoroughly collect data for statistical indexing of productivity, wages and efficiency in the oil industry if he doesn't see that a class of skills and manpower to produce a commodity is essential to tabulate for correct analysis on job growth and resourcefullness?

The minister berated his own office by meeting with oil producers to discuss employee relations. He should have designated a Director (not even the DG but a Director) to coordinate with NLC (labour) mediators and meet first with the employees before meeting with the oil company. At the end of the day the ministry must not deviate from Supreme Court ruling, at its minimum....but demand for more concessions for the employees.

Im dissapointed in the Hon. Minister.

PoliticsRe: 2019: PDP Will Pay Dearly If Igbos Are Denied The Vice Presidential Slot - Group by MayorofLagos(m): 3:30pm On Sep 10, 2018
Upritman:
@SuanusBlog

Ahead of the 2019 presidential election, a group known as Ndigbo National Assembly (NUA) has urged the leadership and elders of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to ensure the vice presidential candidate of the party emerges from the South-East geopolitical zone. The group said its plea was to foster balance, equity, fairness and justice.
A statement signed by National President of NAU, Dede Uzor A. Uzor also threatened that the PDP would pay dearly if they shortchange Ndigbo again.
Uzor’s reaction follows an alleged plot to zone the PDP Vice Presidential slot to South West zone which was reechoed by Governor Ayodele Fayose on Friday.
The group warned PDP to ‘technically and tactically’ avoid the temptation of imposing candidates on Nigerians without due process as repeat of such grievous mistake may cause the party this coming election.
“This is the time for PDP to correct all the anomalies they committed that caused them 2015 presidential election.
“In view of their apologies to Nigerians of 16 years of misrule, the party should put their house in order. They should not go back to their status quo,” they said.
The Group went ahead to mention names of those it considered as qualified for presidential or vice presidential candidates to include former Governor of Anambra State, Mr. Peter Obi, the Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, former Central Bank Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo,Senators Enyinnaya Abaribe, Victor Umeh, Ohaneze Ndigbo President-General, Chief Nnia Nwodo, and Chief Festus Odimegwu, among others.

PoliticsAn Exercise To See How Many Ex-governors Are In Senate by MayorofLagos(op): 4:01am On Sep 10, 2018
If an Ex-Governor of your State is in the current 8th Senate please respond with Name and State. Also, if an outgoing Governor in your state is already campaining to seek election into the 9th Senate, which starts in 2019, please give Name and State. We have cases of persons who were in Senate, became Governor, and now want to go back to Senate.

No ex Governor from my State, Lagos, is in 8th Senate, or planning to go into 9th Senate.

There is an indirect relationship between political office tenure and ability of State's to pay workers salary and it needs to be discussed.

Take for instance a State that pays an ex Governor 100million naira as pension and then they go to Senate for triple that amount. Anyone in a full time political office should earn one pay only, not several. The money paid by States to ex-Governors in Senate can be re-directed to pay civil service workers salary. It is so bad that some States even have two past Governors sitting concurrently as legislators in Senate.

When hyped, Nigerians relate emotionally. A politician who is adept at hyping emotions will always win his way in our political environment. When the hyping subsides, we recover logic and start lamenting and wondering how a politician was able to enter office. We hate first then become remorseful later, after damage is done.

After Jonathan, after Buhari, you would think by now our attention is drawn to objectivity and demand for competency going forward...rather, we are on political hype mode...

How does "Kabiyesi, you cannot afford me" translate to "Osun does not have my kind of money"?

During the 3 years war Biafrans produced almost everything the used including refining their crude oil and here in 2018 Nigeria exports crude oil to import petrol... The people cried, igbos were killed and that prompted the Biafra war...Biafrans fought for a reason and that was to be to free and dominate the world indeed in Biafra Africa died. We shall continue this fight and surprisingly the war will be fought in the north while we make progress to our dear nation. For the future of the next generation
Shut up abeg. Stop regurgitating this bullshyyte about producing crude oil or producing bomb. Its all false. In a tweet, he said, “If the genocide that the Igbo and the Middle Belt have been subjected to were visited on the Yoruba we would not be talking about one Nigeria today.

“Until you are subjected to genocide yourself you cannot possibly appreciate the pain of its victims and their yearning for freedom.”

PoliticsMin. Of Labour, Ngige, Abandons Exxon Employees In Contravention Of Court Ruling by MayorofLagos(op): 3:11pm On Sep 09, 2018
By Femi Aribisala

The message Chris Ngige delivered to ExxonMobil loud and clear is that it does not have to be subject to Nigerian laws. It can operate here in Nigeria as a law unto itself.

Dr. Chris Ngige
Last week, I complained that 860 Nigerian workers at ExxonMobil (Nigeria) are being treated like orphans in Nigeria; their home-country. They have fought this injustice with fortitude and resilience in the courts for 18 long years, during which 171 of them have died along the way (one more since last week).

In court, ExxonMobil denied that the workers are its employees. It claimed instead that they are “SPY Police” in the attempt to circumvent its lawful commitments to them. The Nigerian workers, on the other hand, maintained they are directly employed by ExxonMobil and, therefore, should be treated as ExxonMobil staff.

This case has gone all the way to the Supreme Court of Nigeria. In April 2018, the Supreme Court finally rejected ExxonMobil’s denials outright. It affirmed that the Nigerian workers are bona fide staff of ExxonMobil. Therefore, it ruled that they are entitled to every benefit applicable to other ExxonMobil personnel in other departments of the company and must be paid accordingly.

However, instead of abiding by this verdict of the apex court of Nigeria, ExxonMobil took the outrageous step of sacking 507 of the workers in one day; locking them all out of its building.

When the workers protested by picketing ExxonMobil outfits, the multinational had the audacity to take to the Industrial Court of Nigeria the same matter that had already been adjudicated by the Supreme Court. The Industrial Court also threw out ExxonMobil’s case, affirming the right of the workers to picket. Nevertheless, ExxonMobil as refused to budge.

I said last week: “This kind of arrogance by a foreign company should not be allowed to prevail in Nigeria. What is Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment doing? The message must be sent to ExxonMobil loud and clear that, as long as it is operating within the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, it must be subject to Nigerian laws. It cannot operate here in Nigeria as a law unto itself.”

Betrayal

However, the message Chris Ngige delivered to ExxonMobil loud and clear is that it does not have to be subject to Nigerian laws. It can operate here in Nigeria as a law unto itself.

Instead of fighting for the rights of the Nigerian workers in Nigeria, Chris Ngige, the Minister for Labour and Employment, is fighting for the rights of ExxonMobil, a foreign multinational in Nigeria.

On the very day my article was published last week, Chris Ngige, convened a hurried meeting of the parties in the dispute. However, rather than tell ExxonMobil it has to obey the verdict of the Supreme Court, Ngige presented a settlement package contravening the position of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court said the Nigerian workers should not regarded as “SPY Police” but as bona fide Exxon Mobil employees. But Ngige said they should be regarded as “SPY Police.” This means they would be paid based on police or civil service structures instead of those of an international oil company. He then gave the workers 48 hours to stop their protest before any of the so-called benefits he itemized for them can be paid.

Foreign agent

Contrary to what has been presented in ExxonMobil newspaper advertorials and in the circular of the Ministry of Labour and Employment, the representatives of the striking workers rejected in totality this one-sided intervention of Chris Ngige.

One of the striking workers said: “Dr Ngige is not our employer nor have we applied to work in the Ministry of Labour, therefore, our benefits cannot be packaged by him or the Ministry headed by him. Our representatives haven’t signed any document because those pronounced packages by the Minister are not in line with Mobil’s policy. We therefore resent, reject and discard such package by Mobil and the Minister of Labour.”

“For over 30 years we have been governed by ExxonMobil policies, guidelines, rules and company laws. So, we cannot be separated by a Civil Service Rule conceived by Mobil and implemented (planned) by the Nigeria’s Minister of Labour. The separation benefits as mentioned by Mobil and the Minister are unacceptable to us because Mobil bluntly refused to execute the judgement of the Apex Court of Nigeria.”

PoliticsRe: APC Offers Shekarau Kwankwaso's Senatorial Seat by MayorofLagos(m): 11:22pm On Sep 08, 2018
It is legally right for APC to strip Kwankwaso of his senatorial seat because the ballot victory belongs to APC, however, unless Shakarau is in same constituency that delivered the victory, in which case he can then assume the seat with no legal recourse, relocating a constituency's senate seat to another constituency is a robbery. The party is in this case robbing the constituency of its voting bloc and i dont think its legally possible to pull through.

Consensus at party level is undemocratic and should be discouraged.
The bold is what Tinubu is championing but he cannot do it alone. There are more people against it than there are for it. State Governors are typically the head of Party structure for the States. So they ended up giving states choice to make direct or indirect as it suits them. Even though what Tinubu proposes is a good thing for the country overall, regardless of what party is ruling, well, he has been under attack by wailers. It is no surprise when we say we end up with the leaders we deserve, brutal and inconsiderate....because when voice of reason speak, we respond emotionally and attack their ideas.

My dear Banks everywhere in the world do not lock your money in a safe until you come back. Otherwise they cant pay you interest. The only reason they are able to afford interest is they use your money on other business ventures and make profit. This is just how banks work everywhere in the world including HSBC, Barclays, UBA, First Bank.

in terms of why money got stuck in SGBN, you can not continue to blame this on the Sarakis even when there is clear evidence showing that the licence of SGBN was revoked by CBN unfairly as a Nigerian High Court has already established.

Lets be honest for once in this country and stop calling other people thieves based on half baked information.
Are you even familiar at all with the genesis of the problem, or are you just giving out PR messages to clean Saraki up in public?

The problem is not what SGBN did statutorily but with how the Sarakis ruined public trust.

SGBN is not campaigning for votes, a Saraki is.

If you didnt get my example with the 500naira you will never get the root of why a public discourse of Saraki and SGBN will lead to his ruin on the campaign circuit.
