davidylan: Its the same loud hyperbole all over again... time and time again we've had opportunities to debate evolution and most of it has devolved into shouting matches mostly by atheists who cannot properly articulate their points and merely spend so much time conflating issues, copy/pasting from websites etc. The simplest problem is the constant need to pretend that micro evolution is the same as macro evolution - this dishonest practice is largely because macro evolution has no proof and the atheist thus needs to fall back on the evidence for micro evolution.

I have argued this number of times i cant even remember!

Take a look at this scenario: I and a friend of mine had a discussion on religion, and he claimed he HEARS from god directly and want's to prove to me how god has been working in his life. (I respect people's opinion, so i didn't argue much with him). But one sad thing about this friend of mine is, His mom is very ill. Because of the ailment, they had to take her to India for treatment, when she came back to Nigeria, it started again. This time, she was taken to LUTH, now she's in a private hospital. Since he claimed to have a very good relationship with god, can't he ask god to help his mom? Nah!

Similar thing with my aunt; cause of her belief in a god and Jesus, she refused to take drugs to suppress and with time overcome her sickness... This sickness really troubled her. Even, when she was in MFM prayer city, she had an attack (the sickness occurred)... Now, no one has taught her to use her drugs adequately and visit the hospital as scheduled by her Doctor... and so on!

I'm not trying to mock anyone here (cos i know what this people are going through or went through). Just that, people should face reality and take necessary measures.

And if anyone feels or believe he/she can get cured by drinking what they call holy water, anointing oil or going to the mountains to pray... well, na the person sabi oooo!

When talking to each other you will hear them say things like"Is it not my god? If you will accept that everything is just the ideas, thoughts and conception of other men like you then that will be fine, but you guys claims that this writings and culture that emanated after this writings are from the force behind this universe when it is actually not so. . davidylan: that is baseless speculation. James was under no obligation to state any such thing. There were medicines at that time and i'm sure James was not oblivious of that. That Paul and other apostles recommended medicine from time to time is enough evidence that such was not frowned upon by the apostles at that time. davidylan: Not at all, but it indicates that the bible is a lot more complex than what you see. you can't just read one verse out of context and go howling about that without paying attention to the other verses. Note that although brother James calls for prayers in verse 14, he says nothing about whether you should seek medical help at all. Infact yours and jayriginal's posts are clearly deceptive because James 5:14 merely calls for prayers and says nothing about what else you might do besides that. He leaves it open-ended, but you folks prefer to pretend that all he called for was prayer and nothing else.

Paul was a chief apostle to the gentiles, obviously when he recommended medication for Timothy, it wasn't because he had never heard of James views.

What ever makes you sleep well at night brother, the point is that James gave his own recommendation. . .If he wanted people to go to hospitals he would have stated it, he clearly stated what he believes is the answer to sickness, which is for sick people to go to the church get prayed upon by the elders and they will be well. . .As usual nothing is every clear when it comes to the bible and christianity, every body just keeps making things up as they go. . .

Some one quotes what the bible recommends for sick christians and this deluded one is saying that the person is spreading falsehoods.The thing is you know the reality and the reality is what is written inside James 5:14-16 is pure nonsense, you will never try it yourself, if you get infected with a serious illness like cancer today the hospital is where you will run to, you will never go to the church and try what the bible recommended in James 5:14-16 because you KNOW it is pure nonsense. . .
