Ah! You came online again. My eyes are getting sticky now o. . . ![]() You're the only atheist who's taken time to watch this video and discuss it with me and I'm thankful you did. But just so we don't go on and on in this thread and never get to accomplish anything. . . except waste our time ![]() I'd like to know what you think about DNA and its "code". Do YOU think there's a mind behind it or not??
Your welcome. . . .I think that DNA are the blue print of an individual organisims characteristics. . . . .Is there a mind behind it? That "mind" is what I call natural selection. Since the process of transfering of chromosomes from parents to their offsprings is imperfect because DNA undergoes random mutation(or "mistakes" given each offspring its own unique blue print. . . .Some times the random mutation of the DNA produces characteristics that are good some times the random mutation of the DNA produces chracteristics that are harmful to the organism. . . .So what "mind" or "intelligence" will design a DNA that mutates to produce characteristics that are harmful to an organism and make sure that the organism begins its life at a disadvantage? Sickle cell anemia and thousands of human diseases associated with genetic mutations have been catalogued in recent years. . . .Pls watch the youtube vidoes I posted and understand what evolution says and see how the arguments of the advocates of intelligent design were COMPLETELY destroyed. . . . |
You keep asking this question and here's my answer - I don't know. To the best of my knowledge, science is still looking for answers.
Why then do you keep saying that the universe was designed for a purpose? What purpose exactly?. . . . . But hey. . . thats the way its always been. So much of what we know today about creation with the help of science were not known to our forbears. . . Would they have been wise to dismiss the unknown & "not yet understood" as meaningless and without purpose??Ok . . . . . . What about what we do know about creation? What about the 4-character DNA code talked about in the video (and plenty of other online sources)? What do you make of that? Did a code appear in every one of our cells by blind chance too? This is where you get it wrong. . .Who has ever said that the DNA code appeared by chance? Creationist love stating this even when nobody has EVER made that claim. . . . .Evolution by natural selection has never argued that everything is a result of blind chance. . .The video you posted had so many misinformation about evolution. . . .For example one of the scientist in the video said that evolution said that organisims change from one completely different form to another. . .Like a cell suddenly changing into frog and from a frong into a rat and from a rat into a dog, and from a dog into a monkey, from a monkey into a man etc. . .That is NOT what the theory states. . . .Natural selection tries to explain the evolutionary process. . .I do not accept its explanation in totality because some of it is flawed but it does not say that the DNA in our cells appear by chance. . . .It says it appears to aid survival. . . .Natural selection is NOT a random process according to the theory. . . . Pls watch the youtube videos I posted. . . .it explains what evolution says and not the delibrate misinformation creationst keep bandying around. . . .I might not agree with some of the concept of evolution but it's better to present what the theory actually says than presenting what it does not say. . . . .Just listen to Willaim Craig and all the misinformation he kept bandying in that video. . . . |
You still didn't answer my question, but I'll let it pass and address this: Thats not what was said in the video. I guess you misunderstood them. They did say that most of the universe doesn't have whats needed to support life and the study of science/the universe, like earth does - indicating that the earth must've been designed to support life.
Pls watch the video again. . . .That was what William Craig and the other guy said. . . .Whats the purpose of the universe?. . . . .Whats the purpose of the gazillions of stars, asteriods, comets and galaxies out there? |
IDINRETE:The 120 hour ban don pass ohh. . . . |
^^^^^ Whats the purpose of all the endless explosion of stars and other cosmic bodies?. . .In the video, some of the people in it suggested that the universe was designed for life. . .How so?. . .How is the universe designed for life when MOST of it does not support life?. . . .Life does not even survive in space on its own, so how is the universe created/designed for life when all of the parts of the universe that we know is incapable of sustaining life?. . . . . |
The OP video is full of mis-information about evolution by the members of the discovery institute and their propaganda. . . . . .Their arguments look reasonable at first glance but falls short when closely examined. . . .Here is a youtube video showing how their arguments where completely destroyed when they meet and debated other competent scientist and evolutionist in a court of law. . . . .Pls I will urge every body to watch the Youtube videos. . . .ENJOY!!. . . . https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9R54LGX5_10 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zb2iQvHhn7c&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i8CqTlJ3gGU&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cfJfdYGTWN0&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=so4mSX4QBsc&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HtRNJHsLR4Q&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GqH-yMNFYWY&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHzRwbjJdWs&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Id7PyZQMU00&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAn_vQXBPtI&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6qI_DcbQlMo&feature=related https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-z0KLdXcB_8&feature=related |
e36991:Demarcation between which waters? aletheia: Simple question. . .What is a firmament? |
toba:Lame. . . who is Richard Dawkins?. . .Millions of atheist do not even know that name. . . What's the difference between theist and unknown lairs and myth makers? Unknown lairs and myth makers write their myths, lies , fantasies and DELUSIONS and theist live in them. . . . |
davidylan:Just as we all know that theist are deluded folks. . .Nothing new there. . . . |
^^ What is the firmament? . . . And by the way what sense is there in what you have pasted?. . . |
@ Noetic The way atheists run around introducing anything to support their delusion is just not fascinating. The obvious questions areThis god of the gaps argument is tiring. . .We don't know how the sun came about then god must have done it. . . . . . .The problem is that the bible and other religious text are there for all to read. . .read the bible and tell me if the god that is being talked about there knows anything about the position of the sun in the cosmos . . .Does the bible god know anything about the DNA? . . . A god that considers natural biological processes like menstruation offensive can NEVER know anything about DNA. . . Will you hurry up and show that your god created the sun? Any video or picture of your god putting the sun together? Beating or pointing to age long myths of men who thought and believe the sun revolves round the earth is really a pathetic case. . . .Any video showing that you god created life? the above tends to paint believers as bunch of ignorant dudes who are so lazy that they had rather post God as the answer of all intellectually challenging posers. this is FAR from the truth. What else do you guys do beside using your god of the gaps argument all the time. . . . There is an explanation for the universe. That explanation is called the creation story. It explains how the intelligent universe we reside in was made by a super-intelligent being. The rationality of the story is evidenced by the inability of science and doubters to present a more plausible explanation for the existence/beginning of life/universe.Just Hear yourself . . .Creation story eh?. . . .Is it the creation story that has been shown to be plagiarized from other sources? The same creation story that your fellow christians keep saying its an allegory because of how ridiculous and how it was very poorly written? . . .How did you god create the asteroids, comets and black holes? How did your god create the 12 moons around the planet Jupiter and the galaxies?. . . .How did your god create earth?. . . .Where did he get the raw materials from?. . . .What language did your god use to speak the birds we see around into existence? . . . .I may not be able to prove the nonexistence of your undefined and untestable god but I can very clearly show that men created the concept and idea you call god. . .Even your gods have all evolved from ignorant savages and their superstitions. . . . .Events we see around and our ever incresing knowledge of the things around us keep disproving the existence of all your mythical and man made gods. . . . No it is NOT. I think it is quite dumb to state that the universe came out of nothing. or to state that life began from dead micro-organisms. what u call the supernatural is an intelligent creator, whose account of creation is still the most plausible. You don't know where the universe came from so Yahweh the tribal god that used to reside with the ancient Jews inside their box according to the stories they wrote down must have done it eh?. . . . . .Interesting. . . .If u can produce a more plausible theory/concept for the origin of life/universe . . , .then I will question the rationality of my faith. The problem is your faith is NOT based on any rationality but on total obedience to the concept, fantasies, wishful thoughts and belief of other men like you. . . . There are loads of evidences. The issue is do u subscribe to this evidences/experiences?Pls your evidence for you god creating the galaxy will do. . .Sorry the galaxy is a bit too big. . .Provide evidence to show that you god created the moon. . . .Evidence not words that ancient Jews wrote down. . . .Even the ancient Greeks also claim that their own gods created the moon. . .A video or a creation factory showing Yahweh creating the moon will be enough evidence. . . Anthony Flew accepted that their might be a god that created the universe we know. . . .He himself was not stupid enough to conclude that the man made concept of god that people created and are worshiping created anything in the universe. , Believe my stories or face the imaginary wrath I have been conditioned to believe in eh? How long with this lame scare tactics of yours continue. . .We are tired of this lame scare tactics already. . . .What you are saying is that people should accept your culture or suffer when they die. . .The fact that the punishment you guys are promising will allegedly take place after death is very telling. . . . . . .Science has done more for humanity than any god or religion will ever do for humanity. . . .complex and uniqueness of DNA, intelligent design of the universe, the impossibility of dead organisms to give birth to life. And where is DNA mentioned in any books that the gods allegedly wrote or inspired people to write? who were those that found out about the existence of the DNA? Does any author of the bible know anything about the DNA?. . .How did your god create the DNA?. . . .DNA, human beings, mountains etc are all evidence for nature and the environment. . .They are NOT evidence for any imaginary god. . . . God is not bound by your wishes. God has expressed His liberty and has chosen to communicate with u, using the bible. The onus is on u to either believe it or disbelieve it.More drivel. . . .Men wrote the bible, Men decided to ascribe what ever they wrote to what ever concept of god that they choose or saw will best fit their wishes. . .I repeat again no god ever said poo in the bible. It's just 2nd. 3rd and 4th-hand reporting if you leave in the supernatural beings from yahweh to the prophets to those who wrote it down and collected it (the editors). . . . .Take away the supernatural and you're left with the editors, either lying or deluded about the things they wrote. I take away the supernatural because I see no evidence of its existence. Humans said what's in the bible and all other religious text, for their own reasons. "God said" means nothing other than "I want you to believe" and until you or anybody produce a god to speak for itself, I'm not interested in "God said in the bible". Its just some crazy delusion I tell you. . . |
noetic16:The problem is that you are just revealing what your god or belief is. . .Your god and you religion are both fear. . You can twist and say what ever you want but the FACT is you worship nothing but fear. . .The imaginary god that you will love to see punish those that do not accept your myths does NOT exist. . .all that exist are your twisted, bizarre and ridiculous imaginations and wishful thoughts. . . .Anthony flew is dead and gone and there is NO damnation waiting for him any where because he disbelieves in the obvious LIES and MYTHS of ancient people he does not even know. . , There u go again, running around in circle. The subject of this thread has NOT been the many interpretations/concept of God. . .but the existence of a creator who Anthony flew just attested to.The existence of a creator is possible because we know very little about the universe. . .The universe is NOT created by any of the man made gods people worship. . . .What has the tribal god that WAS created by the ancient Jews according to the culture and tradition got to do with the universe, A god that CLEARLY show that he does not even know anything about the universe we live in. . .Any number of natural causes could be postulated. Collisions of other universes, black holes creating new universes, there could be hundreds of reasons. And if there are other universes, what if those universes were caused by interactions of universes that existed prior to them. Where does the concept of an all loving, all powerful God that cares ONLY for the tiny group of people on a small planet of a small solar system, in the outer edges of a small galaxy in the middle of hundreds of billions of galaxies, and possibly in the middle of hundreds and billions of universes? To think that there is a God that created all that for just us? I don't know how someone can maintain that viewpoint. It's just idiocy. Your mind is acting as if it KNOWS our visible universe is all that exists. This is just foolish. If a man was born and raised on a deserted island, never having seen another person, would he be right in assuming he was the only person on the entire planet? While a closed mind may say yes, an open mind would entertain the possibility that they were not the only one. This is exactly what your mind is doing. It is closed to the possibilities that ours is not the only universe, simply because that seriously fits badly with your preconceived notion about our own universe. |
^^ You are so meek in your s.t.u.p.d.i.t.y . . . . . . |
frosbel:Shut up!! Have you heard of death by natural causes which could be a result of infection , disease and a host of other reasons. That is quite different from the incompatibility between the blood types of the mother and unborn child that makes life impossible, no? Abortion is murder with intent, a calculated step taken in a bid to terminate a baby's life.More deluded talk. . . 'The FOOL says in his heart that there is no GOD.'And I say that a crazy FOOL says that is a god even though he has never seen, felt, exchanged conversation, or heard from one. . . . The ACTUAL FOOL/FOOLS are you and the person that wrote that verse in the bible. . . |
Deep Sight:Atheism is stupidity but belief in some form of god that you just recently created in your own mind isn't stupidity eh?. . .Interesting. . . .The problem with all of you and your various theistic hypothesis is that we know that all your god concepts were created by you. . .You created the oneness of infinity didn't you? The ancient Jews created the concept of Yahweh, Muhammed and his cronies created allah just like the ancient greeks and egyptians created, zeus, ra and all the other pantheons they used to worship. . . .For example Allah never said poo in the koran. It's 4th-hand reporting if you leave in the supernatural beings from allah to gabriel to mohammed to those who wrote it down and collected it (the editors). . . . .Take away the supernatural and you're left with Mo' and the editors, either lying or deluded about these beings. I take away the supernatural because I see no evidence of its existence. Humans said what's in the koran and all other religious text, for their own reasons. "God said" means nothing other than "I want you to believe" and until you or anybody produce a god to speak for itself, I'm not interested in "God said". Its just some crazy delusion I tell you. . . noetic16:What is it with theist agreeing with each other even though their beliefs are completely opposite and cancel each other out?. . . .Christopher Hitchens often brings up this issue when noticing that religious people (or groups) will stick up for each other even when their religions are totally contradictory to one another. It's like some weird GAME that's being played and a player can understand and sympathize another player, even if they have very different approaches to the game. . . . ![]() |
@ OP so the fact that Anthony Flew accepted that their might be some kind of designed to the universe means that atheism is wrong and christianity right eh?. . . .By the way Anthony Flew never accepted that the christian god or any of the man made gods out there was real, He was willing to accept some form of a deist god. . . , What would a convincing argument for God's existence be like since there are so many god concept out there? Depends which "god" you're talking about. Most "god" concepts are either logically incoherent or cognitively vacuous and don't even require a preponderance of evidence to prove their non-existence. . . .Even christianity has many different versions including some that were wiped out (such as the Gnostics, whose god was quite different). There is no one god even in christianity, but a multiple of ideas of this god that people are endlessly and frivolously trying to reconstruct based on some scriptures that were written by unknown men that also had different views of they god they were talking about. Believers sometimes complain that atheists seem to accept no argument whatsoever for God's existence, and that they've already decided beforehand that God doesn't exist. Though to be honest, it seems like theists have accepted beforehand that God exists, but let's leave that for the moment. So let us discuss: What would a convincing argument for God's existence be like? How could its veracity be established? Most theist arguments are of this form: 1. There is something we don't have an explanation for. 2. Put God as the explanation. 3. Therefore, God exists. Man has made tremendous progress in discovering answers to so many things and the answers keep disproving the existence of the man made ideas of their various gods. . . . .Natural phenomena are witnessed and studied all the time. Evidence for natural phenomena is abundant. A universe containing or beginning with the supernatural is an assumption. There is no evidence for supernatural phenomena, and when alleged supernatural phenomena is studied a natural explanation is found, Issac Newton looked at the constellations and could not come up with any explanation for what kept the planets together around the sun in orbit and concluded that it was god that held them together. . .Now we know that no god actually hold the planets in orbit and have developed very good explanation for that . . . . .Creationists embrace a belief system which rules out any other explanation - no matter what. . . . . . Genesis is right. End of story. . . . . .No matter that Creatiionists are unable to produce any historical, geographical, geological, archaeological, biological, paleontological or cosmological evidence which substantiates anything in Genesis and is accepted as valid by non-Creationists. The findings of science are pushing them farther and farther up a dead-end creek, so they cast around for some little escape route, and one most obviously at hand is the "origin of life". Science hasn't been able to find the answer - so wonders of wonders, it was done by a god! And in 50 years' time, will science still be fumbling around? In 100 years' time? And when, eventually, it tells us how it as done, what new esape route will the Creationists have to hunt for? This makes sense. In a way because of monotheism, god himself is the scarce resource. In other cultures because of polytheism, there was no scarcity of gods. Take the Romans for example. When they conquered new lands they would simply introduce the pantheon of the conquered peoples into their own pantheon. Thus Zeus and Jupiter are the same god (IIRC). There was no war of replacing Zeus with Jupiter; it was all syncreticism. On the other hand, when the Greeks conquered Judea (the Jews), they tried to replace YHWH with Zeus and a rebellion broke out. The result of this rebellion is the celebration of Hanukkah when the Jews drove out the Greek desecration. . . .As for me I'm past the (mostly lame) arguments and insist on actual evidence. Purely logical arguments cannot prove the existence of anything. They need some sort of premises to work from, and we can only get those premises from evidence. If God actually existed, and was benevolent and powerful (as he is usually described), then he would participate in communication in a manner that is as clear as my communications with other humans. He would NOT communicate in a way that is impossible to distinguish from my own random thoughts. . . . . |
OLAADEGBU:I asked you a simple question and you are yet to answer. . .Is it your god whom you claim considers all unborn babies as human beings that allows the fetus which you tag a human being to be recognized as a hostile cell and killed by the immune system of some mothers? |
noetic16:The age on puerile fear card again . . .Aren't you guys tired of this failed tactics already? |
OLAADEGBU: ![]() |
OLAADEGBU:Your delusion knows no bounds. . . You claim that your god considers all unborn babies as human beings yet your god as you believe allows the fetus which you tag a human being to be recognized as a hostile cell and killed by the immune system of some mother eh? Is it your god that considers all unborn babies as humans that makes sure that there is sometimes an incompatibility between the blood types between some mothers and that of their unborn child that makes life impossible?. . . . .You are far too deluded my friend. . . |
TBits:Another life begins at conception advocate eh?. . . I have posed this question to the "life begins at conception" crowd. If miscarried fetuses have souls, having not developed any other human characteristics such as intelligence, language, memory or personality what do they do for all eternity in heaven? Are they given idealized heavenly bodies based on what they "might" have looked like? Why would god go put a soul in something that god knows is already going to die without having a chance to do anything?. . . .Anyone with a sufficiently advanced belief can just make up the answers that best please them. Anyone honest should just say "Don't know.". . . . |
frosbel:You read this things as if the make sense, but when you look at reality your see that they are nothing but wishful thoughts and a narcissistic line of thought. . . .A lot of people love to assert that god has a plan for every life somehow. . . . Yet, with so many misscariages, this does not make a shred of sense at all. There either is no god, or god loves to initiate a pregnancy and then terminate it before it's even complete. Sometimes it's a the womans fault, but it still happens a hell of a lot of times in woman perfectly healthy doing everything possible to have a healthy baby. . . . . This fact of very high misscarriages effectively destroys any claim to any god regarding anything about procreation. Either he doesn't exist, or he loves having prenancies terminated in part of his divine plan, or he has no control over prenancies and thus people like you that claim that abortion is wrong and evil cannot claim anything about every "life" being special, ie. some kind of action of god. |
@ OP You just have to choose if you insist that your god is responsible for all pregnancies then he definitely LOVES abortion. Christians like the OP keep telling themselves and others that their god created everything. . . . Everything down to the hidden Fibonacci sequences in the DNA code. They also say that the way we are so beautifully and perfectly created is a testament to their god's divinity. However, let's look at a very common phenomena called miscarriage. According to reports over 20% or 1 in 5 pregnancies end in a miscarriage. There is no definite explanation to why this happens, but they have found many different reasons for it. Sometimes the fetus is recognized as a hostile cell and killed by the mothers immune system, or sometimes there is an incompatibility between the blood types of the mother and unborn child that makes life impossible etc. But it gets worse than this. According to some studies, there are actually a far higher number of miscarriages. Most of them happen so early that the woman never realizes she was impregnated, like after a few days. This makes some people think that as much as 40% or 50% of all potential pregnancies ends up in miscarriage. (And this is not even counting stillbirths). There is no denying this problem, and I think we can narrow the possibilities down to 2 explanations. Either: We are intelligently designed, and God intended this many miscarriages (God loves abortion). OR God doesn't love abortion because God doesn't exist. The complications tied to pregnancy and miscarriage are can easily be explained by evolutionary means. There is no malevolence behind it, it's just how nature works. Source: http://www.allaboutlifechallenges.org/Miscarriage-Statistics.htm A support site for anyone who has had a miscarriage. http://pregnancyloss.info/ Its either you all knowing and all loving god loves abortion or he is just an imaginary construct. . . Any wise man will go for the later. . . . |
OLAADEGBU:Your delusion knows no bounds. . . .How many abortion doctors claim they practice their trade in the name of atheism . . . .The last time I checked both Christians and atheist perform abortion almost at the same rate, no? So what link has abortion got to do with atheism . . .Abortion is a moral issue and has nothing to do with religion or atheism. . . .As people's moral values changes or evolves so does their views on abortion. . . . |
davidylan:This clown is at it again. . .The lady was very clear, She mentioned in her post that the guy dislike everything religion and also mentioned that he takes the bible and the koran to nothing but books written by men. . . But the classic davidylan with his usual antics and crazy imaginary persecution complex will love to believe that the guy hates ONLY christianity. . . Did she tell you that the guy loves other religions? . . . .What a goon. . . . I based that claim on sia fuller's own comments and that is a FACT. He gets unecessarily angry and agitated whenever she makes the mistake of bringing up a christian discussion . . . an attitude he does not display towards anything else.Did she tell you that he feels happy when she brings an Islam discussion? . . . .I believe he has his very valid reasons for being angry when she brings up such discussion. But since you are too blinded in your delusions you will not even understand. . . Seriously many of you have a severe psychological problem bothering on your own spiritual confusion. Trying to blame that on everyone else who has a different opinion of you is a FARCE.Mirror mirror on the wall. . . What is this endless spiritual confusion myth you love bandying around? |
noetic16:Where did I say that everything sprang out of nothing? I believe that the universe (matter, space and time) is eternal. . . . . . But that is not the point. . .What has this your absurd faith explanation got to do with anything? ![]() |
Hell is going to be so jammed full of lying Christians that I fear I will never get in. |
noetic16:What is this . . . .What faith?. . . Its like you always have absurd answers up your sleeve for absurd biblical postulations. . . . |
^^ Are you talking about the OFI? |
Trinity, trinity, trinity . . . .3 = 1 . . . . . what do you think, logical or not? Its very obvious that some drunk men sat down and developed this concept for reasons best known to them and only them.In my opinion a hallmark characteristic of a modern Christian is the ability to hold contradictory views & not have it bother him/her at all, because the alternative is unacceptable to himself/herself. Makes perfect sense the Christians here says about the trinity, because if they don't they'll have to admit to themselves that it doesn't make sense at all and is probably bullshit. If god = the father + the son + the holy spirit and each one is also god, then all of you guys here should readily agree that their god fathered himself through a virgin to serve as sacrifice to himself so that he would forgive the flawed creatures that he'd created, for their flaws which he had designed in them. Funny aint it? |
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. Where did God live before he created heaven? Since it is always said that heaven is where the bible God resides. |
Me sef:Will you stop deluding yourself? Christians are NO better than atheist when it comes to forgiveness, take a look at an atheist society like Finland and compare it with say Enugu which i believe is a christian society and tell em which is more forgiving. . . .By the way there is NO evidence at all to show that Christians divorce their partners less than atheist. . . . . . . |
