Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 10:44am On Jun 21, 2013
Mr anony: I put it to you that based on the same criteria you have been using to judge the new testament and the life of Christ, you cannot legitimately form an opinion from the sources you have provided. The reasons are as follows:-

1. Apart from Philo and Mark, none of the others was even born at the time of Christ. They never met Him nor knew Him.
So Josephus, Suetonius and Tacitus are hereby disqualified.
By the way this also applies to anything they wrote about that happened before their birth. This includes everything Tacitus wrote about Ceasar Augustus, Tiberius etc. We can't trust that Augustus Ceasar ruled Rome because Tacitus was not yet born during the the time of Augustus according to your logic.
Sure, we can trust that every thing that tacitus wrote about Ceacer Augustus is true. . We CAN'T. . .We know Ceaser Augustus ruled Rome because we have his coins, bust and other things, so you are streaching things too much here. . .We can not trust everything written about him by people that were not around him. . Same with the bible. . .We can not trust what was written in the bible about Jesus because the writers did not know him or have meet him and they wrote very long after he died. . .

2. We are left with Philo and Mark. The only writings we have of Philo apart from one short paragragraph breifly mentioning him in Josephus' Antiquities are his own writings about himself and since Philo was never a general in the Roman army or some other prominent political ruler we cannot even be sure that Philo even wrote the things we say that he wrote or that he was being honest when he wrote them.
.
By the way, I hope you know that this will also apply to philosophers like Plato and Socrates. They never were prominent and most of what we know about them were written by themselves. In the case of Socrates, he was written entirely by Plato. According to your logic, more and more Frauds are poping up in classical history.
We can NOT trust ancient history completely, most hgistorians AGREE to this. . .Ancient history can not be trusted completely because of many reasons. . .Most things were written long after the happened, oral traditions are mostly changed over time and embellished etc. . .That is a fact. . .Historians go though and try to seperate the embellishments from the real or plausible events. . .But that is not the point the point here is that major events are recorded by multiple sources and that is how historians accept their veracity. . .If the story of Jesus is true as reported in the gospels, then they extra biblical sources should corraborate them. . .That's my point. . .

3. And finally we come to Mark, though he was a contemporary of Christ, it is uncertain that Mark actually met Christ. We know about him through the book of Acts....but according to you Acts is a fairy tale so we can't even trust that there was a Mark. besides the oldest surviving version of Acts is dated at about 70 AD some 35 years after the death of Christ. By Mazaje's logic Mark is also discredited.
Sure, who is Mark?. . .I am talking about the book ascribed to Mar not Mark the individual. . .Yopur evidence to show that Mark the individual wrote the book of Mark is what?. . .Where did he claim authurship in the book?. . .

You see the problem is that you are so intent on discrediting Christ that you have discredited all of history as well. I always point out to you when you are being irrational and this is one such example.
I am more interested in the vericity of the claims of the Jesus story, so far all the story is nothing but fiction written by people based on hear say, people that do not know him or have ever meet him. . .

1. Could you tell us where in Mark 4 you got this?

2. Context?

3. And what is this meant to prove?

4. And you have just debunked yourself by admitting that the Sanhendrin did in fact arrest, try and condemn Jesus.
For the Sanhedrin I was just going by what was reported in the story not its veracity. . .
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m):
striktlymi: I gave you a very simple task...provide evidence for your claims but yet you repeat what has already been said?
I have already. . .

This is very funny! How do you know that the history of Alexander the great is authentic considering that the earliest work available was written over 300 years after the death of Alexander?

I will use the exact same method you used in arriving at the authenticity of the above to determine who to ascribe the Gospels to.
The story of Alexander the great could be all made up. . .I do not dispute that. . .Most stories in antiquity were embellised. . .That is a known fact. . .Most start through oral traditions and as we know most get embellised over time. . .Even the bible it self can be shown to contain this. . .Many stories have been embelished when you start from the earliest gospel which is Mark to the last which is John, let me give you as example. . .When Jesus was allegedly raised from the dead and the lady entered his tomb, according to Mark the earliest gospel the lady saw a man, by the next gospel Matthew, she saw two men, by the time of the last gospel of John the woman saw two angles, so clearly you can see the embelishment of the tradition even there in the bible. . .I don't care about Alexander the great. . .Even the church fathers like Eusebius acknowledge that the stories in the bible were very different from each other. . .

For starters what does this passage tell you:

Luke 1:1-4
New International Version (NIV)

1 Many have undertaken to draw up an account of the things that have been fulfilled[a] among us, 2 just as they were handed down to us by those who from the first were eyewitnesses and servants of the word. 3 With this in mind, since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, 4 so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught.
What is this?. . .You expect the authour to say he didn't properly investigate what he was writing down?. . .The author was writing a religious document he claims to be inspired by some god some where, so what do you expect?. . . grin
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 10:14am On Jun 21, 2013
Mr anony: I hope you do realize that in most if not all of ancient history, the writings come long after the deaths of the protagonists. In fact Jesus Christ is the most attested figure in ancient history. You haven't really made any point here
Attested figure in anceint history how. . .All the stories written about him were bassed on hear say. . .Non of the gospels writers claims to know him or have ever meet him any where, they were all writing based on hear say. . .Most attested figure yet the documents that contain his story remains some of the most contradictory documents ever. . .Spare me please. . .

Lol, now you have denied a whole book because it doesn't fit into the theory you are trying to form
Show me from the book of acts where Luke said he wrote any part of it. . .

Again all you did here was arbitrarily claim that the book of Acts was fake just so you could claim Paul wasn't tortured. No points scored
The book of acts is pure propaganda. . .Example it talks about the Sanhendrin executing Stephen, some thing is is completely against the law. . .

This is just weird and quite ignorant. The gospel that Christ resurrected was proclaimed as soon after Christ did. The sad thing is that you've started of by saying that anything that will tell you that Christ resurrected is a lie. The demand you are making is like one asking for a piece of ancient historical writings that proves Socrates died by drinking poison but then I start by saying Plato, Aristotle and other Greek writers are liars. It is simply an irrational position to hold
The claim that Jesus died is ONLY a christian claim. . .The empty tomb remains ONLY a christian story. . .The empty tombs story is not to be found anywhere, just as the story of Mohammed ascending into heaven on the back of a wing beast. . .The remain religious claims and that is all. . .The story about Jesus resurrection was only in circulation among the christian community. . .

Please cite some of these people
The hadiths. . .

No actually I want to see the hadiths that talk about Mohammed doing this. Please provide them
Its called Kitab al Miraj. . .According to Islamic traditions he ascended to heaven on the back of a wing beast in Jerusalem. . .

But you haven't shown this, you have only claimed it. I'd like to see the Josephus quote and the Hadith quotes please.

By the way, I still want you to tell us which of Paul's letters you think were actually written by him and which ones weren't and why.
That is not the point the point am making here is that the Pauline letters and their authours have a different theology from that of the Jewish Jesus. . .
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 9:45am On Jun 21, 2013
Mr anony: Yet the Jewish Encyclopedia written by Jews for Jews disagrees with you
Disagrees with me how?. . .

I meant that by 30 AD, the Sanhendrin had such powers therefore they could easily have arrested and tried Jesus Christ in 33 AD.
You said Paul was arresting christians, that was what you said. . .Sanhendrin was sending Paul to Syria to go and arrest people in another country?. . .I showed you how Mark's rendering of Jesus arrest and trail by the sanhendrin is pure fiction. . .Let me repeat what I wrote before. . Mark, clearly a gentile does not know how the Jewish legal system functioned. . . Mark's account is questionable in that had a trial before the Sanhedrin taken place as he described, it most likely would have been illegal under Jewish law. . . According to Jeiwhs scholars like Robert Maddox, Kelhoffer, and Rabbi Wilson the trial could not have taken place at night and would have required two separate hearings. Because that how was the sanhendrin functioned at that time.

As I said, they had power to arrest and try Stephen and I have just shown you that Stephen was killed in an outburst of rage rather than a formal judgment. Compare Stephen's trial in Acts 6-7 to Peter and John's trial in Acts 4 and 5:25-42. Notice the difference in the process of judgment.
Stephen's account in the book of Acts is propaganda, those that killed him would have been arrested because they clearly violated the laws. . .

Are you serious? No one ever said that Paul was a member of the Sanhendrin. The Sanhendrin was a council of 70 elders of which Paul wasn't at the time. The point I am arguing is that Paul was given authority by the Sanhendrin to make arrests and enforce the law. You miss the point so badly it hurts
To the extent of going to another country to make arrest eh?. . .Pls tell me who was Paul?. . .The Roman Emperor?. . . grin grin

There is no contradiction there.

Act 9:7 The men travelling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone.

Act 22:9 My companions saw the light, but they did not understand the voice of him who was speaking to me. (NIV)

The Greek word akouo can be interpreted as "hearing" or "understanding"
You quickly went to a bible translation that suits you eh?. . .

Acts 22:9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me. KJV. . .

Which of these translations is true, because they are NOT talking about the same thing. .

Now this is just silly. I have shown you that the Sanhendrin did indeed have the power to prosecute and punish people and I have shown you that Paul was an enforcer empowered by the Sanhendrin. You have no case.
And Paul's name appears on which Jewish document?. . .Who is Paul and who knows him apart from what the church fathers claim or have said about him?. . .Which Jewish document mentions him any where. . .So the Sanhendrin had the power to send Paul to Damascus to arrest people, eh?. . .Saying I have no case is not a point of argument. . .You have to show it. . .So far you haven't at all. . .

striktlymi: Morning Mazaje,

Now according to your logic...

When a writer is silent about meeting the object of his write-up then it means the writer never met the person.

Writing style determines whether the writer met the object of his write-up.

Can you provide evidence to show that Matthew and John NEVER spoke Greek?

Hope you do know that what you hold on to has very many implications as regards the history of a number of individuals, as Anony has pointed out already?
The gospels were NOT written by the disciples of Jesus, there were written very long after Jesus died, by Greek speaking christians in foreign lands. . . .No where in the gospels does Matthew, Mark or John claim authourship any where. . .I told you that it was the church fathers that decided to ascribe authourship to the anonymous documents(gospels). Noiw let me ask you a question. . .Take away the tittle assigned to the book of Matthew by the church fathers. How you you know that Matthew wrote the book of Matthew from reading the book?. . .Pls tell me. . .
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 1:51am On Jun 21, 2013
noblefada: @mazaje going through your posts I can see that you're trying to confuse people by bring fabrications and distorting facts. I'll try and address some of them. I don't see why rendering different accounts is enough to say Apostle Paul was false. First remember Paul did not write the book of Acts Luke did, so the first account of the conversion was not narrated by Paul. Let me say this in human accounts there are always differences, for instance even on NL when something happens in an area and people living there start giving accounts of what transpired, we always see some discrepancies and we have to read 3 or 4 accounts before we get the whole picture, we don't conclude it didn't happen. What I want to ask you is this, in all the accounts rendered did the event happen or not, does any negates that Aspt Paul had an encounter with Christ, if No then its irrelevant how the account was rendered.
The to accounts are to be found in acts. . .

Again you lied that Jesus said salvation was for only the Jews and not for the whole world but failed to quote: Mat 28:18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
Mat 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
Mat 28:20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen. Marks account
Mar 16:14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
Mar 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mar 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. Luke's account
Act 1:8 But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.
Pls @mazaje pls what is your believe, are u an atheist, Muslim, pagan or what so that I know who I'm talking with. Thanks
The first gospel to be written is the gospel of Mark and all the other gospels were copied from it. .The original manuscript does NOT contain the great commission. . .The foot note of the NIV and other english translations said these about the ending of Mark. . .

The earliest manuscripts and some other ancient witnesses do not have verses 9–20.

Obviously some one added it. . .
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 1:34am On Jun 21, 2013
striktlymi: ...and what evidence do you have to back up your claims?
Firstly, non of the writers of the 4 gospels claim to know Jesus or have meet him any where in their writings. . .The gospels were written in 3 person narrative very long after Jesus died in Greek ,a language him and his disciples never spoke. . .They spoke Aramaic. . .Papias and later Ireanues were the first persons to ascribe authorship to the anonymous documents(gospels). . .
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 10:23pm On Jun 20, 2013
striktlymi: Do you know the difference between a history book and a biography book? Sacred scriptures is neither but throw some light on the life and mission of Christ.

I do not expect the historians you mentioned to even talk about Christ let alone mentioning the way he died and how he was revered by his Apostles and disciples.

Expecting them to start talking about his miracles is stretching it when they were not even present....Are you even aware that Philo did not mention Herod Antipas in his book?

As far as historical facts are concerned, this does not mean anything...if Philo can leave out this character in his book, then leaving out a number of other things does not come as a surprize.
Firstly, non of the writers of the gospels were there with Jesus, non of them claim to know him or have ever meet him any where, they were writing their stories in distant lands in a language he never spoke based on hear say.Church tradition ascribed authorship to the books . .You will expect their stories to have outside corroboration. . . .
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 9:12pm On Jun 20, 2013
striktlymi: Are you serious?

Did Josephus and co follow Christ? Did they follow any of the Apostles? How come you want people to rely on their account about the miracles of Jesus?
They don't have to follow Jesus or the apostles at all. Do you know why their works are consider as historical accounts but not the biblical stories?. . .The bible stories are primarily a book of theology NOT a historical account as such you will expect disinterested parties to mention its stories. . .Remember according to the bible Jesus did so many great things that the books in the whole world will not contain all the things he did if they were to be written down. . .The bible paints him as this mighty healer and great magician that went about going very great things. . .The thing is that the bible is the only book that records or mentions this, no Jeiwsh documents mentions this at all, no disinterested documents mentions him as such a great person. That non of any of the things written about him gets mentioned outside the bible is very telling. . .The stories written about him in the bible were written very long after he died not even by people that knew him or have ever meet him, but by Greek speaking christians writing for gentile audiences based on hear say. . . .
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 7:37pm On Jun 20, 2013
striktlymi: The above represent your opinion without a shred of evidence just like it is my view that President Goodluck Jonathan is a Ghanian by birth.
What is this LOL?. . .

Okay, let's examine this so called 'evidence from antiquity'...

Now by your logic, when a Historian fails to mention a popular public figure then that figure did not exist in the past? This indeed is some strange logic.

Now do note that Josephus actually mentioned Jesus and Tacitus also mentioned Jesus so Mazaje falsehood would get you nowhere
No where did I say that Jesus did not exist, that is your own making. . .What I am saying is that NON of the historians that covered the entire fist century say any of the things written about Jesus in the gospels and in the bible. A lot of what was written in the gospels actually contradicts known history. .Lets look at Tacitus for example. . .

"Consequently, to get rid of the report, Nero fastened the guilt and inflicted the most exquisite tortures on a class hated for their abominations, called Christians by the populace. Christus, from whom the name had its origin, suffered the extreme penalty during the reign of Tiberius at the hands of one of our procurators, Pontius Pilatus, and a most mischievous superstition, thus checked for the moment, again broke out not only in Judæa, the first source of the evil, but even in Rome, where all things hideous and shameful from every part of the world find their centre and become popular. Accordingly, an arrest was first made of all who pleaded guilty; then, upon their information, an immense multitude was convicted, not so much of the crime of firing the city, as of hatred against mankind".

He only mentions Christus(the anointed one) doesn't even mention Jesus by name. He does not say any other thing about Jesus, in fact. he claimed the Jesus story is a superstition. . .

Josephus as we all know has been shown to be a fraud and an interpolation by Eusebius. . .

I can't continue addressing the rest of your post because of the obvious lies and misrepresentations of Sacred scriptures.
huh huh
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m):
PhenomenonVFX: Seriously, I have to hand it to Mazaje . The dude knows his stuff. I used to think I was the only one who could see the rivalry in the new testament (Back in the days when I was a devout christian, I used to bind and cast every spirit of doubt). Some books were dedicated to subtly proving the superiority of one person over another.
Just like I am still inclined to believe that the followers of John the baptist and Jesus may have been rivals. And John the baptist probably never made the claims about Jesus that the new testament, which was written by the followers of Jesus, says he did.
The first part of first chapter of the gospel of John dedicated itself to proving (more like claiming) that Jesus was God and John the baptist was not the light. You dont do that unless u are trying to win an argument of superiority with someone else who was claiming otherwise. The question now is who was the author of the gospel of John arguing with?
Thanks to the Holy Roman Catholic Church there are many things we may never be able to know about Paul and the early apostles because they burnt every book with opposing views or claims.
Anony is trying to tell us that christianity has divine origins but that is VERY FALSE and there is NOTHING in early christianity that suggest such. . .The religion was formed by people after the character called Jesus. I consider the founders of christianity to be the early church fathers like Justin Matyr, Papias, Ireneaus, Polycarp etc and not even Jesus, Paul or Peter. . .The early church fathers brought the gospels to us, they were the ones that ascribed the names on the nameless gospels, they were the ones that claimed Paul wrote down all the letters ascribed to him etc They were the ones that brought the book of acts and said Luke wrote it. . .

In order to form a proper opinion on the start of the Jesus cult of Christians it is absolutely mandatory that the evidence from antiquity be first examined.

There is no other way to form an opinion of the start of the Jesus--Evidence First. It doesn't work that way, you have to look at other sources. . .

Its very good to look at non-apologetic writers like Philo, Josephus, Tacitus and Suetonus.

These four ancient writers remarkably covered the ENTIRE 1st century and wrote about events and the history of the Jews. Their writing are considered as the standard historical accounts of the Jews during the first century and they wrote about all the major events that happened throughout the 1st century. .

There is no mention whatsoever in Philo, Josephus, Tacitus and Suetonius of a Jesus cult of Christians where Jews worshiped a known man as a god, the logos and god creator who was claimed to have been raised from the dead and was the son of god born of a holy ghost or spirit conceived by a virgin.

I cannot form an opinion that the Jews worshiped a Jewish man as a god when no corroborative evidence from antiquity exist in the history of the Jews at all.

Next, examine the so-called canonized gospels.

In order to form an opinion on the start of the Jesus cult of Christians it is imperative that the Gospel be first examined. . . .The earliest version of the Jesus story in gospel of Mark is extremely significant because it can be easily seen that there was NO Jesus cult at all when Jesus was supposedly alive.

1. In gospel Mark, the very supposed Jesus Christ claimed he did NOT want the outsiders to be converted. See Mark 4

2. In gospel of Mark, the very supposed Jesus Christ instructed his own disciples NOT to tell anyone he was Christ. See Mark 8

3. When Jesus was arrested his disciples either betrayed, abandoned or denied him. See Mark 14.

4. When Jesus was put on trial before the Sanhedrin he was considered a blasphemer and the Jews asked that Jesus be crucified before Pilate. See Mark 15. . .

I will form an opinion on gospel of Mark, Philo, Josephus, Tacitus and Suetonius because these are the earliest sources of what happened in the 1st century Palestine. . .

In the earliest version of the Jesus story there was NO Jesus cult of Christians up to the day Jesus was supposedly crucified and this appears to be in harmony with Philo, Josephus, Tacitus and Suestonius.

There was no Jewish person called Jesus the Messianic ruler who was worshiped as a god in the time of Pilate and NO Jesus cult of Christians. . . .If Jesus did exist he would have been known merely as blasphemer whose so-called disciples either betrayed, abandoned or denied and NOT as one who started a cult.

So, when gosel of Mark was composed there was NO Jesus cult of Christians. . . . The Jesus cult of Christians most likely started AFTER the story was composed. . . . It was people who believed the story who called themselves Christians.. . . The story in the early version of gospel of Mark is that the Jews killed or asked that Jesus be killed. . . .Those who believed the story were called Christians.

But if we are to look at it historically Jesus did NOT start any religion himself. . .Christianity started with the gentiles and the early church father made it what it is today. . .They brought the gospels and all the other writing in the new testament out to the public. . .They wrote down the christian history and made it what it is today. . .Not even Paul or Jesus. . .No body knows Paul anywhere. . .His name does NOT appear in any document outside that of the early church fathers, they claimed he wrote his letters, no one knows him any where. . .Paul could be their own creation. ..
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m):
Mr anony: My response:

Number 1. Why do you think that the Sahendrin didn't have such power? They had the power to arrest Jesus, try him and then hand him over to the Romans to be crucified. They also had the power to arrest Stephen, try him and then stone him to death. They also had the power to arrest and flog Peter and John
Not written any where except in the gospel stories which was written by gentile christians who do not even know much about the Jews and how their judiciary operate. . . .

Here is an excerpt from the Jewish Encyclopedia:

The extant references to the Sanhedrin are not sufficient to give an exact and detailed idea of its functions and of the position which it occupied. It is certain, however, that the extent of its power varied at different times, and that the sphere of its functions was restricted in various ways by the Roman government. One of these restrictions was Gabinius' above-mentioned division of the Jewish territory into five provinces, each with a sanhedrin of its own, whereby the authority and the functions of the Sanhedrin of Jerusalem were materially diminished. Its power was insignificant under Herod and Archelaus. After the death of these rulers its authority again increased, the internal government of the country being largely in its hands. It administered the criminal law, and had independent powers of police, and hence the right to make arrests through its own officers of justice. It was also empowered to judge cases that did not involve the death penalty, only capital cases requiring the confirmation of the procurator.
http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com/articles/13178-sanhedrin#anchor5

From the above we can see that Jewish lands were under control of the Roman government and basically, the power of the Sanhendrin rose and fell depending on who was in power and how friendly he was to the Jews.
We also learn that after the death of Herod and Archelaus, the Sanhendrin increased in power including having the power to make arrests and hold trials and pass judgment. They were only withheld from carrying out capital punishment without the permission of the city's procurator.
Herod died in 4 BC, Archelaus died in 18 AD. The time of Paul persecuting Christians (about 30 AD) would fit perfectly with the time when the Sanhendrin had powers to make arrests, hold trials and pass judgment. It would also explain why Christ had two trials: one before the Sanhendrin and one before Pilate because the Jews wanted him dead.
What it might not explain is the death of Stephen but Stephen's then death didn't have an explicit pronouncement of judgment rather he was killed in a fit of rage as he spoke in his trial. Or maybe they could have obtained the permission of the city head. We are not told.
There were NO christains in AD 30 any where. . .Jesus himself we are told died some where around AD 33, the cult of Jesus followers started after Jesus died, there were NO christians any where in AD 30, so what exactly are you talking about?. . .The accounts in the gospel of Mark(which is the first gospel and which all other gospels were copied from and embellished) about Jesus's trial by the sanhendrin remains very questionable and has been disputed by many scholars, the writer of Mark, clearly a gentile does not know how the Jewish legal system functioned. . Because that how was the sanhendrin functioned at that time. . .The gospel of Mark indicates that Jesus faced the charge of blasphemy, but nothing in Mark indicates that Jesus said anything that would actually constitute blasphemy under Jewish law Scolars like Rabbi Boteach have stated that the sanhindrin did not have the powers to persecute people based on what the gospels wrote about them. . .The early christians were not violating any Jewish laws as such could not be arrested by the sanhidrin. . .As for the trail before Pilate, no followers of Jesus were believed to have been present at any such trial, so the dialogues recorded in gospel accounts (which range from the few words in Mark to a more extensive dialogue between Pilate and Jesus in John's version) are almost certainly fictitious. . . .

Now when they heard these things they were enraged, and they ground their teeth at him. But he, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. And he said, "Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God." But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together at him. Then they cast him out of the city and stoned him. And the witnesses laid down their garments at the feet of a young man named Saul. And as they were stoning Stephen, he called out, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." And falling to his knees he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." And when he had said this, he fell asleep. Acts7:54-60
So what am I to do with this propaganda?. . .This is pure fiction because the sanhendrin had no power to execute anybody as you rightly pointed out yourself. . .

So once again, other than "Rabbi Boteach said so", why are you convinced the Sanhendrin did not have such power?
One more thing, the Rabbi said that Paul was not even a member of the Sanhendrin. . . "And I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my contemporaries in my own nation, being more exceedingly zealous for the traditions of my fathers" (Galatians 1:14). But it is fairly clear that Paul wasn't actually a member. So Paul going about persecuting christians is a myth. . .He had no such powers. . .

3. Could you point out the two accounts of Paul's conversion in the book of Acts and tell us why they you think they are contradictory?
Acts 9:7 And the men which journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man.

Acts 22:9 And they that were with me saw indeed the light, and were afraid; but they heard not the voice of him that spake to me.

4. You missed the point I was making by comparing Paul vs the Christians to GEJ vs Boko Haram. The point I was making is that it is ridiculous to suggest that a person who already has the political upper hand as the persecutor of a certain sect will leave his position because he envies the political clout of someone he has more authority than.
It makes no sense for Paul to become a Christian for reasons of fame because Christians at that time were despised by many and by Paul especially.

If the work done above is for the 'little ones' then no ish otherwise the effort was wasted...

Mazaje's post truly does not deserve a response for one simple reason: It lacks sincerity from him!!!
He was talking about Paul and Peter as the founders of the religion who suffered for their faith, had nothing to gain, died for it etc. . .No of which is true. . .Historically during that time Christians were persecuted under Nero because he accused them of burning a building when people accused him or arson. . .Acts is one reason for a lot of the confusion about early christian history. . . . It pretends to describe the immediate years after Christ's death but it's clearly not a good historical source, being written many decades later and including a lot of mythologizing. Paul is one of the main characters, but at times it contradicts Paul's own accounts of events in his letters. . . . .It clearly has an agenda , it wants people to believe that all the problems between Paul and the Jewish Christians were smoothed over and resolved (in Paul's favor) and christian unity was achieved. . . . .

Paul's letters make it clear that James (who he calls the brother of Jesus) was the unquestioned leader of the early Christian movement, and that they were at odds , he criticizes both James and Peter pretty viciously. . . . Acts practically writes James out of the picture. . . He's not mentioned at all in the early sections, then suddenly pops up to issue a command at the "Jerusalem council" with Paul. If he was such an important figure that he could make decisions that were binding on Peter and Paul, how is it that Acts tells nothing about him except for that one brief appearance?

Acts also contains a lot of myth-making and unbelievable magical acts by the apostles. There are stories of apostles winning duels with magicians, and Peter striking dead a Christian couple who didn't turn over all their income to the church etc. . .

We also find out that Peter insisted on following Jewish dietary laws, until god sent him a vision of a magic "tablecloth" covered with all kinds of food and told him they were all "clean". (i.e. Paul's position). This would seem to prove that Jesus taught nothing of the kind. If Jesus had really proclaimed all foods to be clean, wouldn't Peter have known? Why would God need to send this vision to his No. 1 apostle? This seems to be a perfect example of fabricating scriptures, in this case to put god's stamp of approval on Paul's pro-gentile teaching. After all Paul claims he is the apostle of the gentiles. . . .

The point of Acts is to establish Paul as the successor to Jesus (to the detriment of Peter and James) and Luke as the successor to Paul (to the detriment of John Mark and Barnabas). It's pure propaganda. . . .These books were all brought to us by gentiles like Papias, Polycarp, Irenueus etc. . .
Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 4:11pm On Jun 20, 2013
Mr anony: The above demonstrates a very poor understanding of what Jesus, Paul and James preached.

I'll tell you the message they all preached and it is this: Salvation is by faith in Christ alone and not by observing the works of the Law of Moses.
This means that good works does not save a person rather it is God's grace that does. However this does not mean that salvation frees a person from the obligation to do good works. To say it in very simple terms: You do not do good works in order to earn salvation and make Heaven, you do good works because you are saved. Good works are the natural characteristics of a saved person.
To even illustrate it further I'll give you an analogy: You don't buy gifts for your wife so that you can have a good marriage. You buy her gifts because you are in love with her. Buying her gifts is a natural characteristic of a good marriage. I'll show you a few passages to illustrate this point.

Jesus:
"Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.

The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: 'God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.'

But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, 'God, be merciful to me, a sinner!'

I tell you, this man went down to his house justified, rather than the other. For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, but the one who humbles himself will be exalted."

Luke 18:10-14
(Read it and ponder what Christ is clearly talking about and tell me if you really think we are justified by our faith in God or in our works).
Paul teaches the exact same thing:
Romans 4:5 ....And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness

Does this mean that Paul thinks good works are unnecessary and we will still be justified if we continue in sin? Absolutely not Here is Paul again on the matter

Paul:
What then? Are we to sin because we are not under law but under grace? By no means!
Do you not know that if you present yourselves to anyone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one whom you obey, either of sin, which leads to death, or of obedience, which leads to righteousness?
But thanks be to God, that you who were once slaves of sin have become obedient from the heart to the standard of teaching to which you were committed, and, having been set free from sin, have become slaves of righteousness.
- Romans 6:15-18

(Clearly, you can see that Paul is not telling us to abandon righteous living because we live under grace)

Now we come to James. Does James say we should abandon faith because we are justified by good works. Absolutely not.
Let us read what James has to say:
What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? and one of you says to them, "Go in peace, be warmed and filled," without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:14-17

Has james said faith is unnecessary? No. Has he said that we are saved by good works? No. What James has said is if you have faith it should be evident by the works you do.

So to do a recap I'll post the verses you quoted.

You quoted....
James 2:24 - You see then how a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
Your intention was to make the argument that works and not faith is what justifies a man.

But in context it reads....
But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Do you see how faith worked with his works, and from the works faith was made complete? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham believed God, and it was imputed to him for righteousness, and he was called the friend of God." You see then how a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.
James 2:20-24
Notice that the argument James is making is that true faith is characterized by good works but not the other way round. Notice also that the works talked about in James 2 are not Jewish traditional rites such as circumcision and Sabbath and washing of hands rather James is talking about caring for disadvantaged brethren as evidence of this faith.

Secondly you cited...
Rom 3:28 For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.

When read in context we see....
Rom 3:21 But now the righteousness of God has been manifested apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets bear witness to it--
Rom 3:22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction:
Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
Rom 3:24 and are justified by his grace as a gift, through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
Rom 3:25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood, to be received by faith. This was to show God's righteousness, because in his divine forbearance he had passed over former sins.
Rom 3:26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time, so that he might be just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
Rom 3:27 Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith.
Rom 3:28 For we hold that one is justified by faith apart from works of the law.
Rom 3:29 Or is God the God of Jews only? Is he not the God of Gentiles also? Yes, of Gentiles also,
Rom 3:30 since God is one--who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.
Rom 3:31 Do we then overthrow the law by this faith? By no means! On the contrary, we uphold the law.

First of all notice that what Paul is referring to as works of the Law are Jewish traditional rites such as circumcision. In fact Paul wrote this letter to quell a dispute between Jew and Gentile Christians when the Jewish Christians were demanding the gentiles must be circumcised.
Notice (in red) that Paul makes it clear that he is not saying we should do away with the law rather he is saying that it is not those works that justify us but our faith in the sacrifice of Christ does. He even argues that the Law and the Prophets attest to this fact.

This is exactly the same way Jesus argued that Jewish customs such as the Sabbath, washing of hands e.t.c were not really what saved a man. However Christ also made it clear that He is not abolishing the Law rather He fulfills it. The fulfilment of the Law happened when Christ came and died for our sins. We who believe in Him are not bound by how well we perform certain rituals and outward ceremonial activities rather we are justified by grace through faith in Christ and empowered to do good works.

So my dear friend Mazaje, I see absolutely no contradiction between the messages of Jesus, Paul and James when read in the context in which they were written.

To be continued....
What is all this epistle about that fails to address anything at all?. . .Paul clearly sort out to abolish the law of Moses and change many things like the dietary laws and laws of circumcision among other things. The main issue at hand here is who founded Christianity and if the people that founded Christianity as we know if today are following what Jesus said or made things up and created their own religion out of the Jesus character, a religion that actually involved some of the teachings of Jesus and their own teachings and theology that has nothing to do with him. Jesus and PAUL NEVER thought the same thing at least from the bible. The writings attributed to Paul are more propaganda & embellishment than reality.

Firstly NOWHERE in the bible did Jesus ever claim that salvation was for everybody. . .. Jesus SPECIFICALLY said he was sent ONLY to the lost sheep of Israel and claimed he did NOT want the outsiders to be converted.(Mark 4). Jesus told those that followed him that they shall see him sit on the throne shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. He makes no mention of the gentiles when he was talking about judgement in his heavenly kingdom, he only referred to the 12 tribes of Israel not the gentiles. Paul who never meet Jesus came and said he is an apostle to the gentiles. . .

Mr anony: Hahahaha, Mazaje don carry come. Let us see if he knows what he is talking about.

Lol, monetary rewards for selling tents or for preaching the gospel?
Yes he did. . .Paul has NEVER seen Jesus when he was alive but still taught that the gift of salvation through grace occurs APART FROM any behavioral requirement.Romans 3:28

While James who according to the bible was with Jesus says that
by WORKS a man is JUSTIFIED, and not by FAITH only.James 2:24

Jesus according to the bible always upheld the Law of Moses. In the Sermon on the Mount, he made it very clear in Matt. 5:18-19: "For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled. Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and shall teach men so, he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach [them], the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven." ("jot or tittle" in modern translations is "not one iota nor one dot".) Have heaven and earth passed away? Have ALL the prophecies, including those of the last days, been fulfilled? While Jesus ADDS TO the Law of Moses, he never detracts from it or undermines it.

Even some of the occasions when Jesus seems to add to the Law or teach in new and different ways, he goes to great lengths to show that it is based on the Law. For example, when this rabbi asked by a "lawyer" (one versed in the Law of Moses) what was the greatest commandment in the Law, Jesus turns the question back to him and asks what is in the Law, and from that extrapolates his great commandments to Love God (from Deut 6:5) and Love Neighbor as Self (from Lev. 19:18) which was clearly the centerpiece of his ministry and his doctrine of ACTIVE love and compassion for all.

Paul, on the other hand, wants to throw out the Law of Moses.

Lololol, This is like saying that Goodluck Jonathan would stop attacking Boko Haram and join them because he wants to be as respected as Shekau. It makes no sense
Paul claims he was attacking christians. . .Paul's entire campaign as depicted in acts has been dismissed as unlikely by many historians, for it is supposed that he would have no authority to arrest people and certainly no power to pull people out of Damascus. Some scholars like Rabbi Boteach say the Sanhedrin did not have this kind of power, and there is also a question as to whether Rome was in control of the city at that time or if the Nabeteans were. The two very contradictory accounts of how he became a christian are to be found in the book of acts, both stories can NOT be true but both accounts can be a lie. . .If Paul can lie about his conversion then he can lie about anything. . .Who is Paul? No body knows him anywhere, he wasn't a general in the Roman army or a prominent figure at all. Historically Christians were persecuted under Nero but the reason for their persecution was because Nero claimed they set fire on a building, No body knows Paul any where, his name does not appear any where outside the bible, to compare him to GEJ and BH is a complete joke, while every body knows GEJ no body knows Paul any where because he was just an ordinary man. He only claimed he was persecuting christians, no other documents supports that claim and the book of acts itself contradicts Paul own accounts in some places. . .

Lololol, yeah of course especially when you know beforehand that the new religion will definitely get you tortured and killed as well as the people you are convincing. Heck you were doing the torturing and killing yourself before you chose that it will be nice to get tortured instead. Impeccable reasoning from the desk of Mazaje.
I repeat Paul was NOT tortured and killed any where. . .Stories came very long after he died by the church fathers who did not know him or have ever meet him that he was killed. No one knows how he died. . .Paul is a liar and as such he has little credibility even he himself admits that he lies and uses trick. .

Be that as it may, I have not been a burden to you. Yet, crafty fellow that I am, I caught you by trickery!2 Corinthians 12:16

Lol, but that was not what they did. They claimed they witnessed an event that actually took place. They made this claim to people who could easily have disproved it
Disproved what?. . .The first gospels were written very long after Jesus died at least 45 years after he died by people living in another part of the world where he did not live. . .There was never a time in any Jewish historical document where the story of Jesu's resurrection was an issue any where. . .The story came long after Jesus died, it was written by unknown greek speaking christians based on hear say. . .There was nothing to disprove because nothing like the resurrection of Jesus happened any where. . .It happened ONLY in the pages of story books written by people who have never meet Jesus or knew him any where very long after he died. . .

Interesting. Can you list the ones written by Paul and those written by other people? Just list them for us and why you think this was written by Paul while the other wasn't. Your ability to do this will convince me that you know what you are talking about and not merely rehashing common internet objections.
First of all you personally do NOT know if Paul wrote any letters, church father like Polycarp, Ireneaus etc claimed the letters were written by Paul. No one knows Paul as a historical figure any where. . .No Roman document mentions him any where, ONLY the church fathers and their biased writings mention him and claimed he wrote those letters. . .Scholars use the style of writing and other things to determine if he actually wrote some of them himself or not. . .Some of the Pauline letters like many books in the bible have been shown by some scholars to be the wroks of more than one author based on the writing styles and many other factors. . .For example Polycarp ALONE in the second century said Paul wrote the book of Corinthians, He did not give any reason as to why he believed it was Paul he just said it was him and that was all. . .

Hahahaha, and you know that they are bogus how? Let us even leave the ones that you can dispute. Let us talk about the ones recorded by Luke in the Acts of the Apostles. Are they bogus too?
Sure, the author of the book of acts was writing his own fairy tales. . .By the way nobody knows if Luke wrote the book of acts. . .Church tradition claimed he did, no know knows if its true. . .

Comparing apples to oranges, Joseph Smith amassed great wealth due to his story. He wasn't tortured for his "story" but died because a mob shot him to death because he tried to marry their wives. Jim Jones was not persecuted but committed mass suicide. That is not matrydom.
I repeat you do not know if Paul was killed or suffered for his new religion. . .The entire book of acts has no credibility, for example the book of acts will claim one things or say one thing about Paul. later Paul himself will come and say another thing. . .For example Paul reports that King Aretas was the one out to get him while Luke says it was Jews.

But everyone know Paul was repeatedly tortured and beaten for it. What we don't know is precisely how he died.
No body knows if its true. . .He just claimed he was tortured, no body know if its true. . .

lol, Yet the tomb of Christ was known in His time and the apostles proclaimed that He had resurrected in the very same city where He had been buried. Unless you have no respect for history, The fact that Christ's tomb was empty three days after his death is a known and widely accepted fact.
False, the empty tomb of Jesus was NOT know in his time, the bible is NOT a historical book, pls bring me just one book from the time of Jesus outside the bible that says the tomb of Jesus was empty. . .It is a known and widely accepted story among christians, it is NOT a fact. . .The gospels were written very long after Jesus died by people that never meet him. . .They were just writing stories based on hear say. . .There is no empty tomb of Jesus any where only stories about the empty tomb

How many people saw Mohammed do this?
Many people, and they wrote what they saw. . .

As I said, I'd like to see historical documents detailing this

Christianity EtcRe: Is Christianity True? The Greatest Conspiracy Ever by mazaje(m): 11:56am On Jun 18, 2013
Fristly, the claims that the Paul had nothing to gain by coming up with a theology of his own is bogus, evidently he had so much to gain. He was a leader within the christian community and with that comes status. He was well respected and according to the bible people gave him monetary rewards. . .So the claim that he had nothing to benefit from is false. . .The early disciples were highly respected within the christian community, and the had enough motive. . .The knowledge that many people will subscribe to their own theology and live their lives according to what they are putting forward is enough reason to begin a new religion. . .All people that create of form religions want people to follow their ideas, philosopy and conceptions. . .That is what all of them do. . .That is enough reason for them to start a new religion. . .Some of the letters attributed to Paul were NOT written by him and even those that were said to be written by him were claimed by others to be written by him , people like Polycarp, Ireanues etc. . .

Secondly the claim that the the disciples of Jesus all suffered violent death is also very bogus, because the stories of their martyrdom came long after they died and were written by the early church fathers, church father that have never meet them or knew them. . .Those stories were just written to strengthen the belief of the early christians. . . If the founders of the religion suffered why won't you suffer with them. . .

The claim that NO one will die for what he believes to be a lie is also not true since we have so many people dying for what they invented, things they know to be lies. .Joseph Smith, Jim Jones just to mention a few. . .No one knows how PAul died, the church fathers that never knew him or meet him claimed he died for his faith. . .

The empty tomb assertion assertion is very bogus. . .The empty tomb of Jesus does NOT exist any where, it is only a claim propagated by christians and it is not found any where except in christian documents which are non historical. . .The bible is NOT a historical book but a book of theology. . .The empty tomb assertion is just a claim, akin to the claim that Mohammed acended to heaven on a wing beast in Jerusalem. . .It remains a bogus claim. . .

The ressurection hypothesis remains a bogus claim. . .Mohammed also resurrected from the dead and ascneded to heaven on the back of a wing beast. . .According to Josephus Emperor Vespasian also ascended into heaven. . .The story of resurrections were so common in the first century. . .When Justin Martyr(one of the earliest christian apologist) was presented with stories similar to that of Jesus that predated that of Jesus his only reply was that it was the devil that made people to invent stories similar to that of Jesus earlier so as to confuse them and lead them astray. . .

benodic: Justice does not wait for the afterlife. there is true divine justice in operation in the universes and it starts here and now. The law of karma or the principle of cause and effect ensures that whatever you throw into life returns back to you.

There is no escape from it. Jesus Christ even made reference to this law when he said that God is not mocked that whatsoever a man soweth so shall he reap. This law applies to all souls irrespective of their religion or race and whether you believe or not.

It is outrageous to even think that someone can lead a life full of good deeds to fellow souls and then end up in a hellish place just because he does not believe in a particular belief.

This misconception of divine justice has lead to a lot of evil in the world today where someone believes that he can blow up fellow human beings and then enjoy in heaven or someone who has been stealing from people and committing atrocities will end up in heaven just because he believes in a particular belief. it does not work that way at all. what ever you sow you will surely reap. it is just a matter of time
The concept of divine justice as advocated by religions like Christianity and Islam is very unjust simple. . .

Okay, fair enough! The reference to John 3:16 is very much in order...Now for you, belief in Christ entails two things: Accepting Christ and accepting his teachings...this is not far from the truth but there is more to this...

Belief in Christ is not about professing faith in Christ and his teachings...it goes beyond these. One can profess faith in Christ and his teachings on the roof tops and still not be a believer in Christ. The Apostle James puts it beautifully:

James 2:19-20
Good News Translation (GNT)

19 Do you believe that there is only one God? Good! The demons also believe—and tremble with fear. 20 You fool! Do you want to be shown that faith without actions is useless?

Even the devil believe in Christ but what separates a true believer from the devil is the individuals actions. Hence to believe in Christ is to do right by him...nothing more and nothing less.

James 2:14-17
Good News Translation (GNT)

14 My friends, what good is it for one of you to say that you have faith if your actions do not prove it? Can that faith save you? 15 Suppose there are brothers or sisters who need clothes and don't have enough to eat. 16 What good is there in your saying to them, “God bless you! Keep warm and eat well!”—if you don't give them the necessities of life? 17 So it is with faith: if it is alone and includes no actions, then it is dead.
Good, but that is not the main issue here, the main issue is if unbelievers will be judged and will make heaven. The bible very clearly says they will not. As for works, the jury is not yet out on that because in some passages of the bible it emphasis faith and not good works, some books of the bible clearly state that faith alone is enough. The bible says unbelievers are condemned and that I believe is what dalaman was talking about. . .

Titus 3:5
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost.

Galatians 2:16
A man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast.

Romans 3:20, 28
By the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight. (v.20)
A man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Romans 4:2
For if Abraham were justified by works he hath whereof to glory? (v.28)

That aside, the bible does not say any where that unbelievers will see and be with God. In many places it says they will or are condemned already as I have stated earlier on.

I pay little attention to popular opinion...like you rightly pointed out, what matters is what Sacred scriptures has to say about the matter.

I see that you fall into the trap of hanging on to one part of Sacred scriptures without looking at it holistically. It is quite common so I won't blame you for it.

Since I have explained what it means to believe in Christ using Sacred scriptures, my task now is to attempt an explanation on the bold.

But before I do, can you please tell me what you understand by the scriptural references below:

John 3:18
Good News Translation (GNT)

18 Those who believe in the Son are not judged; but those who do not believe have already been judged, because they have not believed in God's only Son.
You see, what you are doing here is what actually made me leave Christianity, nothing in the religion is straight forward. Let me explain, you see, you went and took an English translation of John 3:18 that means and says something differently from what other English translation are saying as if that is what the bible says.He quoted the same verse from the NIV and it says condemned not judge. It is my understanding that many modern translations of the bible of which the GNT is one tweak and spin the original language to make it look less sexist and less offensive. I have attended a debate about it in London some years ago.

If the English bible has different translations that render same the meanings of the same passages differently , then why call the bible the word of God? Is the NIV the word of God? What about the GNT? They are all giving the same passage very different meanings and saying very different things, which is the right translation to you?

Let me give you what other translation of the same verse have to say about it. All are John 3:18

English Standard Version
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.

GOD'S WORD® Translation
Those who believe in him won't be condemned. But those who don't believe are already condemned because they don't believe in God's only Son.

King James Bible
He that believeth on him is not condemned
: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

International Standard Version
Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe has already been condemned, because he has not believed in the name of God's unique Son.

Webster's Bible Translation
He that believeth on him, is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only-begotten Son of God

These are just a few from the other English translations that I just looked up. Please tell me why should I accept the GNT over the majority?

The bible in many places has stated that unbelievers are condemned already. . . .

Mark 16:16
He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Please show me just once place in the bible that says unbelievers will see God and be with him. I can show you so many places that says they will be dammned for their unbelief. The bible is very clear about it, but I understand that you disagree with the bible which so many common in Christendom, many Christians disagree with the bible, which is why there are many different English translations of the bible and many sects. . . .

Luke 9:49-50
Good News Translation (GNT)

49 John spoke up, “Master, we saw a man driving out demons in your name, and we told him to stop, because he doesn't belong to our group.” 50 “Do not try to stop him,” Jesus said to him and to the other disciples, “because whoever is not against you is for you.”
This passage according to my understanding is about Jesus telling his disciples not to stop a man from casting demons in his name. He then goes to tell them that who ever is not against you is for you. But from the verse you could see that the guy clearly believes in Jesus else he will not be using his name to cast out demons. . . . .

John 10:16
Good News Translation (GNT)

16 There are other sheep which belong to me that are not in this sheep pen. I must bring them, too; they will listen to my voice, and they will become one flock with one shepherd.
Here Jesus to my understanding is saying that there are other people out there that are not where he is but need to reached out to by him so that they can come and be under him. Non of the verse come close to saying that unbelievers will be saved. NO where does the bible say or claim such. . . .

991: Religions survive because of human stupidity and ignorance. I find it very funny that mortal humans fight for an almighty god.
Because god is a human idea and when you disprove the idea you disprove them and they will hate you for it. . .

shdemidemi: Not necessarily my friend, some can use spirituality due of lack of study and understanding. This does not in anyway mean an unbeliever or a carnal believer can understand the ways of this God. There is a wisdom of the world and a wisdom generated from God, you can never bring logic or reason of the world to carp God.
Pls contact the holy spirit and ask the holy spirit to tell you when the earth was created so that I can tell some one like OLADEGBUU, he claims the holy spiirt told him that the earth is 6000 years old, pls can yopu contat the story spirit and let the holy spirit corabborate what he has said?. . .Enough of using the holy spirit to explain absurdity away, lets be specific and try this holy spiirt claim out and see how it goes, pls tell the holy spiirt to tell you when god created the universe, since it told OLADEGBUU that god created the universe 600o years ago. .
