One lesson I have learnt from this whole saga, and particularly from Fashola's government, is that what ever action you take or do not take, certainly people will talk: some will support you and others will not. In other words, you just go ahead and do what ever you think is appropriate and let your conscience judge you before God.

Fash himself said it in one his 100 days in office parley, that you don't expect everybody to agree with your policy, that as a matter of fact it is not even good for the polity as all of us can not sleep and face the same direction. He said there are instances where his government had to have a rethink as a result of superior argument.

Now, when the market was first closed, the abuses the governor received on this forum was out of this world. but today nko, this same people are praising him.

All your comments and post have been based on sentiments and gut-feelings occassioned by the little devil on your shoulders whispering to you what may have happened as opposed to the facts presented. Can you quote any newspaper publication where JTF have had to lie about an anti-Bokoharam fight that never happened only for them to manufacture weapons and use innocent people as BK boys? Or are you just here to tell us about the little devils on your shoulders dancing azonto are telling you happened?
My guy, many of us have had opportunities to be in the north and witness these things ourselves, I think I can argue from a more informed point than you, usimg conjectures and ifs and buts to make illogical conclusions.
At the boldened: I really don't understand what you are trying to say there, but if I get you, I think you are asking me to point to the fact that the JTF may not have been lying about their operation in Borno, am I right?

Yes! Emphatically yes! If they have not been lying all this while, they actaully lied about the cache of arms they claimed to have discovered about GEJ's visit to Borno. Read comment on this site (in another thread though) and you will find out that they have been telling us lies all this while.

…Massive arms including anti-aircraft guns, rocket propelled grenades recovered after visit to Borno…

The alleged recovery of three anti-aircraft guns, two technical vehicles mounted with anti-aircraft stands and 10 rocket propelled grenades, in a cache of arms,in Maiduguri, on Friday, lent credence to the claim of the plot to attack the president’s plane.

Besides the anti-aircraft guns and rocket propelled grenades, the massive arms the Joint Task Force (JTF) in Maiduguri, the day the president left the state capital after the visit, include 17 AK rifles, general purpose machine guns, three G3 rifles, 20 RPG bombs, 12 RPG chargers, 1 x 36 ,hand held grenades, one tear gas rifle, 33 AK 47 magazines, 11 FN magazines, three G 3 magazines and 11,068 assorted ammunitions.

rhymz: You are obviously NAIVE and probably have not left Lagos before or the southwest region.
So FG and JTF will just came up with a story about BokoHaram and bomb churches and mosques? For what? So the Borno contigents told you that Borno is peaceful state and Bokoharam only exists in the figments of newspapers thrills and exaggerations.
So you were expecting to see a violent Borno state contingent or what? Guy grow up abeg. It is because they know you are naive and ignorant of the goings-on that is why they gave you a picture you want to see. You telling them that southerners generally see everyone from the state as a Bokoharam member or that all of them had been killed by Bokoharam showed how lacking you are in analysing issues and they probably sensed it and chose to make it easier for you by coming down to your level of understanding.
Fine. But my point is still that the situation could not have been as worse as it is being painted by the media, otherwise there is not suppose to be people living in Borno State as of now.

Yes, you are correct, I have not left Lagos before (to the North at least), but that does not mean I'm totally oblivious of the happenings there. And who says FG or JTF can not come up with stories about BH bombing mosque or church? Were you not in this country when they told us the GEJ's wife went to Germany for Holiday, only for her to come back and tell us not to mind them, that she was actually dead for 7 days and only rose up by God's divine intervention. So, why shouldn't I think that the FG can make up stories? Remember that the JTF is an extention of the FG, so they could have been flocking together.

confusion247: Do you also know how many that lost their lives during your useless demonstrations on a mere cartoon? You should never be afraid to say the truth. Don't condone evil as northerners are doing because they want dialogue and amnesty for murderers. Condemn evil.
Yes I will always be in the comfort of my zone because my zone didn't promise to make Nigeria hell and ungovernable for Jonathan. More over my zone doesn't breed terrorists. Just live with that.
Let me tell you that BH started from the mosque, killing Imams that were castigating them that what they are (were) doing is not right, that it was unislamic. That was the genesis of the whole BH story; it actually started as a muslim/muslim conflict which resulted into the arrest of their leader Muhammed Yusuf, who was extra judiciously killed in police custody. For your information, it was after the arrest and death of Yusuf that the whole thing bomeranged and got out of hands. And I think it was at this point that it was hijacked by some people somewhere, because if you can recollect, majority of the members then were illiterate women and children who may have been brain washed.

So, to say Muslims have not demonstrated against it is very far from the truth. So many Muslims have been killed in the past simply because they criticized BH.

The Joint Task Force in Borno State says 52 members of the dreaded Islamic sect the Boko Haram were killed in a clash with security forces yesterday in Maiduguri the state capital.

The success is coming just one day after the president; Dr Goodluck Jonathan had lavished praises on the JTF for its gallantry in the fight against the menace of the Boko Haram during his two day official visit to Borno state.

A statement made available to newsmen in Maiduguri the Borno State capital by the JTF spokesman Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa reveals that JTF lost two personnel in the operation carried out between 3:00 and 8:00 PM yesterday around Bulabulin, Bayern quarters and Jajeri areas of Maiduguri metropolis.

The operation according to the statement was based on information and intelligent report leading to series of operations for the past ten days.

During the operation which witnessed stiff resistance yesterday by the insurgents according to the statement, ten out of the 52 killed are commanders of the insurgent, while three personnel of the security forces sustained injuries and are currently receiving treatment in an undisclosed hospital.

Yesterday’s operation according to Sagir Musa recorded the largest arms recovery ever made by the JTF since the commencement of the insurgency.

Items recovered include 3 anti-aircraft guns, 10 Rocket Propelled Grenade Tubes, 3 General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) and 17 AK 47 Rifles.

Others include; 20 RPG Bombs, 12 RPG chargers, 36 hand-held grenades, 33 AK47 magazines, 11 FN magazines and 11,068 assorted Ammunitions.

The operation according to the statement also led to the recovery of two technical vehicles with mounted anti-aircraft stands, five walkie-talkies, 4 VHF hand held sets and assorted uniforms and kits among others.

The statement also thanked members of the public and JTF moles in the Boko Haram camp for the timely information and asking other people to do same in the fight against the sects.

You know, something use to amuse me about this BH issues. Since all this days that the JTF has been killing 52, 28, 14 members, and so on, of the BH boys, aren't they suppose to have finished? Or are they being imported from another State or Country?

During the recently concluded Sports Festival in Lagos, I had the privileged of discussing with the contingents from Borno State, they actually stayed in the halls of residence close to my office (Great El-Kanemi Hall) and they told me not to believe all the news I read about Boko and Borno in general.

I told them of how we read in the newspaper that almost everybody in Borno State in a BH or has been killed, and they just laughed it off.

Another very interesting thing about this contingent, which I must not fail to point out, is that they were well organised (100 Likes for them). Well behaved, no troubles what so ever. Unlike Abia state that were fighting over money. One athlete beat-up his coach when they asked those that were out of the competitions to start preparing to go back to the state. They fought over money and others things like that.

So, it just baffles me. Honestly, I don't know who to believe. Seems the JTF and FG are playing some stunts out of this BH thing. I don't think it could have been this worse. Except BH are being backed by some super powers somewhere. I know an average Nigerian wouldn't want to face the super fire power of soldiers. Let's think, please

sapien: Some deluded folks keep citing Wole Soyinka, Gani Fawehinmi, Tony Elumelu et al, as references to their failure.
Do you know the circumstances that made these men of inestimable value graduate with third class?

Can you compare the fierce competition in present day Nigeria with Nigeria in the 60's?
Just like my dad would say, anything less than a 2.2 is a failure!

You prolly went to school for four years to frolick!
No randy lecturer will sexually assault an intelligent student!
They only seek for the unintelligent, fashion conscious bimbos, who have got nothing upstairs than to flaunt their endowment.

Some are even making it sound as if making 1.1 or 2.1 is an abomination.
Like seriously, what is Nigeria turning into?
I'm presently an undergraduate in a second generation federal university, south of the Niger, and on a very strong 2.1.

I can't just settle for less! I got to motivate my kids in the future to study hard with my result.
I can't imagine myself wedging my certificate in the corner of my wardrobe in order to avoid my children sighting it.
You are very correct to a very strong extent my friend. I got a 3rd class my self, in Mathematics, at the University of Lagos, and that's a failure by all standard just like you rightly pointed out and I take all responsibility for it. As a matter of fact, I had already know I was going to graduate with a 3rd class right from my 2nd semester year 3, made attempt to change but it didn't work. Besides, I never hide it from anyone- all my course mates knew the situation as early as then.

But you see my friend, the lesson here is that sometimes your class of degree may not necessarily determine what you make of your life. Though, it may at some instances, there is no denying that fact. What I'm trying to say is that you can still make it look as if it never happened through hard work and creativity.

RomanceRe: Can I Marry My Senior Brother's Wife? by mbhs139(m): 12:32am On Mar 08, 2013
COOLDUN: From your comment you seem to be a kind man, and God fearing too, it is not bad to take care of your late brother's wife, but thinking of having an affair with her or remarrying her is never good and advisable.

I don't know what a woman with 5 children and a grown up man, as son is looking for in marriage again. My advice to you is to try to raise some fund for her to start any business which she can handle, so that she will not be more dependent on you as you have your own family too.

She can have a male friend which all of you her family members should know about, but remarrying is not the best option. She has sacrificed a lot for the family. If she really love her dead husband , she should honor him by staying behind and take care of their children. Your family members should encourage and support her to stay. Marriage is never the solution as she do not know what she will meet at her new matrimonial home.

My father's junior brother died and left a very pretty young and educated woman, what my father did after she finished mourning her late husband was to call her and asked her what she wanted to do then, my father began his words by first letting her to know that God had made her a member of our family, never mind that death had put asunder in her marriage. My father made her to know that all of us love her and are very ready to have her as our sister in law.My father told her that anything she decided then would be accepted by all the family members. Then she had a son and 2 daughters.

When my father finished talking to her, she fell down and held my father's feet and swore that she will never leave our family to any where, till death take her away. We all busted into tears and hugged her, and reassured her of our everlasting love for her.

Today she is still with us, her daughters are all married, his son is married with 3 kids now, my father sold some of our lands and raised some money for her to start business. She is doing greatly. She has a male friend which all the family members know and respect so much. If your family love that woman, then don't let her leave. She need you all now.
i think we should ask this man his tribe before advising him or what to do or what not to do.

if he is a yoruba man of the south-west extract, there is nothing bad, societally, about him remarrying his late brother's wife. infact, that is the norm, and it is not by compulsion. the woman is given a choice to choose between still staying in the family to remarry someone from the family, preferably a younger person to the deceased, or she 'get married' to her children or she goes out and marry someone else.

in the event that she marries someone else, she cease to have any right to the husband's property or estate.

but come to think of it. wouldn't it have been better for this man to remarry this women than for another man to be snicking into the woman's apartment at odd hours? remember he said she's 30something years old, and a woman of that age, as a matter of fact, still needs a man.

i'm somehow in that dilemma too. the only difference between me and him is that i can't get married to the woman in my own case because i have elder ones who will first be given the first right of refusal. but i'm taking care of her within my resources even though i'm still single. i just wonder how she's been coping for the past two years

Please I need your Help.

Why would you evict them from their own house, the house was started by her late husband[your brother]so should be for her and her children even though you and your family helped to complete.did you do that to help his widow and kids or as a plan to take over ownership...some things are not quite right here,im not in support of polygamy but if you, your wife and kids, your late brothers wife and kids are ok with that, why not give it a go.

The idea of sending them away from a house initiated by their husband and dad isnt nice..something tells me your late brothers account might,ve been accessed by your family, what happened to his business if he had one, money in the bank and other assets??
and why are you trying to foster what you believe or do not believe on him. who cares about what you believe or not. you could have done the worst if you were in his shoe. nonesense, see as he dey talk like say him be saint
