guonno: but sometimes i really wonder how people think. the opposition party is made up of people that destroyed nigeria beyond repair, and you still crucify jona? there is no difference between apc and pdp, apc is a reggional party north and west, the west might not see it now because it favours them now. pdp remains the only national party, lets work towRDS MAKING THE ONLY NATIONAL PARTY WORK.don't you think it will be inimical to the tenet of democracy if we all join 'THE NATIONAL PARTY'? We all can't sleep facing the same direction. |
chizel: No matter hw much you bastereds hate GEJ,you can never course whom God has blessedYou know, I just find it amusing when some of you come here and say some people hated this president. have you forgotten that this are the same people that voted for him massively for him to become president? if he had performed to expectation and do the needful, would the citizen have been pouring this much of aspersion on him? i'm just wondering o. |

mbhs139: the bolded is true and correct. i dread going to GT for that singular fact.just checked but their site seems not to be secured. a secured site, more so a banking website, ought to start with; 'https://www...' always watch out for the 's' on any website |
sexiestharam: Please I am tired of the noise about GTB. Have u tried diamond bank? GTB has one of the worst customer service in the banking sector. The crowd in any branch is terrible. Anyone boasting about their internet banking should try Diamond mobile. Diamond bank is far better than GTB in my honest opinion.the bolded is true and correct. i dread going to GT for that singular fact. let me quickly check diamond to confirm what you are saying |
PointB: Well articulated.Well said. But come to think of it, can I trust this president or this country that something reasonable will come out of this? What about the previous monies that were released in the past. that's actually the question we should not run away from |
Clemzy16: u beta shut up if u've gat notin meaningful 2 comment. Do you think every1 is lik you. Because you can afford it does not mean others can. Besides, i wasen't charged N100 last month, i was charged N210. Do you know what that means. ODE!they charged me N325 for COT; N250 for SMS; N175 for VAT on COT. Now, add N100 to that every month, that will be N600 X 12 = N7,200. ![]() |
Worse off is that they will still charge you COT on the account, and even charge VAT on the COT. Na first bank i dey work for ni? |
Vanneni: Has any one of you making all these harsh comments ever sat to think about the different factors that could make one to become a culitistCan you please give us an example of the factors that will lead one to becoming a cultist. it appears you may have passed through that road before, please educate us |

azimibraun: All said and done.. Bt who hs proof 2 show this boy ws a cultist? Cos a guy died in a gang related fashion doesn't mk mk him a gang member.. Who knws if its part of his killers plans to label him a cultist so that nigerians see it dt way? I need proof.if u knw him as a cultist den who are his fellow cultist in skool or @ home? His cultist colleagues took to the internet, twitter to be precise, threatening fire and brimstone. They called him his cult given name, told him to fly safe(hope you know what that means). so, when you put one and two together, you will get it that what people are insinuating may not be far from the truth. |
musKeeto: : So are we supposed to feel pity for a cultist?. phlame: HEARTLESS IDIO*Thow is he an idiot, na lie him talk ni? |
GenBuhari: Babangida ,the evil genocidal kleptomaniacal looterI took my time to read this post, and was thinking i will see a response to it at the end on this thread. But most unfortunately, there is none! That tells you something about our reading culture; we have lost it. Nigerians don't have the patience to read long articles. I once read somewhere that if you want to hide information from an average Nigerian, put it into writing, particularly in a long one, he will never see it. |
Omo_Tier1: Just go back and read that post again, you will find that Fashola never blamed Okada for the murder but merely highlighted that fact that again Okada was used by the killers of the young man. He also mentioned the medicl doctor who was killed by His assailants who rode on Okada. On the basis of His submission, it is obviously in His place to buttress his point about the legislation put in place to restrict the use of Okada and possibly the outright ban of it in the very near future.100 likes for you at the bolded: you are right on point. It seems some people don't read before they comment. |
the question to be asked actually is, can Jona do this in the streets of Nigeria, even in Abuja? Let us face it, no matter the amount of stunts GEJ and his (supposedly) laptop inundated us with on the internet, the point is that this man has left much to be desired. by my own reckoning (and by my right as a free citizen of this country), i don't fancy him. this is as far as i'm concerned |

Movingcoil: don't public schools have rules and regulations? And is wearing hijab in nigerian constitution or sharia constitution? This is nigeria and not some arabic country like afganistan.the comment above is not out of proper reasoning. it is actually born out of shared HATRED. My worry is that someone like you, in the near future, will be aiming to be at the helms of affair in this country one day. what type of leader will you be? |
Movingcoil: i was never a catholic, and am not planning to be but I went to a strict catholic missionary school if u know one of the schools ran by the marist brothers, since am a student there and to avoid being d odd man out and also to abide to the school rules and regulations, I prayed my chaplets, i held to my prayer books very tight, i had one of the best and expensive chaplets den dat was 350 naira but did it make me a catholic. Religion shouldn't be an element to disobey. Itz very simple, if u can't abide to it, find anoda school.and a public school for that matter? how do you reason bro? don't use your life to judge others, i hate that part of our existence. as if we have the same challenge and opportunity |

SIt will be recalled that Oshiomhole last weekend rejected a N130 million proposal from the minister asking the state government to bankroll the Edo State leg of the tour after describing it as a waste of public fund. Oshiomhole had said: “The resources accruable to Edo State cannot afford to accommodate the expenses of hosting the Minister of Information and his good governance tour team. Why should I take Edo State tax payers money to finance a Federal Government project? I don’t need Abuja to help me to tell Edo State people what I am doing in the state. Anytime a state official goes for official duty in Abuja, the state takes responsibilities for the expenses. So, I expect the Federal Government to finance its own official tour.” National Mirror, however, learnt that the proposed tour would have cost the government about N180 million, which the governor said he would find difficult to reconcile with the state’s lean resources. Owing to the governor’s refusal to sponsor the state leg of the tour, Maku decided to still go ahead with the inspection, but with plans to cover only Federal Government projects in the state. |
chizel: All this morons that are condemning the good gorvernance tour of the 36 states of the federation embarked upon by the federal govt are nothing but a bunch of hypocrit, and for fashola to condem it is unfortunate,I think its high time the people in the opposition more especially the Yorubas grow up,president of the federal republic of Nigeria has the right to know how any politically elected or appointed office holder in any part of Nigeria is performing irrespective of the party such a person belonged in,obasanjo did it and I didn't hear the Yorubas condemning it,if the federal govt has no right embarking on the project then fashola has no right embarking in all this media propaganda he has been doing, common street light of about 190 poles that was fixed in two streets of lagos, the media was there to show it to the world, what a shame.i think it's high time this people grow above petty politics.to the opposition, only the politicians elected in their platform is doing well, those from the ruling party are not performing, they will never see anything good from them, and am yet to see the magic that the opposition is performing in their various states, the other day in Abeokuta,we were told of billions being spent on a small flyover bridge by the state govt, the media was there to cover it as if it was the first to be built in any part of Nigeria.at the bolded: it is very unfortunate that someone in this time and clime can make such a sweeping statement without supporting it with constitutional evidence. It is very upsetting to hear that the President is now the one carrying out an oversight function over freely elected state governors that also has their house of assembly. tell me my friend, where as the principle of exclusive and concurrent legislative bill gone to? what is the work of the state houses of assembly, if governors performance has to be endorsed or otherwise from Abuja. i disagree with you. anyway, it may have been wrong, according to you, for fashola to have discredited the process, but it is not appropriate to suggest that the federal government should monitor state governors because they give them money monthly. perhaps you forget that it is this state governments that own the resources from which the federal government gets the monies in the first place. abi, does the federal government own any land except abuja? |
Michky: Do you have any statistic to back up bullying in Nigeria? Actually, its the more pressing needs that get the most attention. In the nigeria education scenario, its massive failure in waec & neco. This is the more reason why you're not getting the attention you strongly feel you deserve. I think.you are correct. but we will get there one day. watch out for our newsletter on school climate, it's free |
Problems in schools include truancy, bullying, breakdown in classroom order and declining academic abilities. One study found that many students today suffer from "a lack of incentive, inquisitiveness, independence and maturity Surveys have found that children in eight percent of public school classrooms are so unruly teachers can not hold lessons. In these classes, children refuse to sit still, listen or stop talking. Teachers frequently report that students get up and wander around when they feel like it and kick doors and make other loud noises to attract attention. In 1995, a 13-year-old boy was kicked, shoved against a blackboard and slammed onto a desk top 40 times by a teacher for not doing his homework. Also, a junior high school girl in Tokyo was punched and pulled by the hair by a teacher for raising an objection to some aspects of a school festival. A teacher was suspended for three months for repeatedly slapping a nine-year-old girl. The girl, who was punished for not finishing her lunch, was harangued and scolded more when she would not stop crying. The girl was so traumatized she transferred to another school In 1995, a 16-year-old school girl died from brain injuries sustained when she was slammed head-first into a stone pillar by her home room teacher because her skirt was too short In 1990, a 15-year-old girl died when a teacher slammed a 500-pound iron gate on her because she was a couple of minutes late. That teacher was sentenced to two years in prison, which many people thought was unfair In December 2005, a 12-year-old girl was fatally stabbed by her teacher in Kyoto. The teacher, a part time instructor and student at a local university, told police he had trouble teaching the girl who was very rude and disrespectful to him. In March 2006, an 11-year-old boy hung himself after receiving corporal punishment from his teacher. According to court documents, the teacher grabbed the boy’s lapels and shook him after the boy hit another student with a rolled up newspaper, demanding he apologize. In October 2009, a court ruled that the punishment led the boy to kill himself and ordered the local government to pay the boy’s parents about $100,000. Bullying victims complain of being kicked, slapped around, tortured and humiliated by other students. A common form of bullying is placing garbage in the shoes of a victim. In severe cases, victims become virtual slaves to bullies who extort huge sums of money and beat their victims so severely they have to be hospitalized. Bullying has resulted in some suicides and is responsible for a large number of children avoiding school [ibid]. A bullying victim in northern Japan suffocated to death after being rolled up in a gymnasium mat and stuffed into a closet by his junior high school classmates One survey found that 14 percent of children had experienced some kind of bullying. This rate is low compared to Britain, where 40 percent have been bullied. Japan, however, had the highest rates of students being repeatedly bullied. The rate of bullying has reportedly declined in recent years. Some educators are suspicious of these statistics, saying that many cases of bullying go unreported Teachers often offer little help, sometimes even ridiculing children who are different. A 12-year-old in Osaka sued his teacher for standing by and doing nothing while he was bullied by other students. Sociologists say that bullying is a product of the conforming pressure of the society. Children are bullied for being too smart, too dumb, and too ugly or simply being different. Other scholars say it is also a release for the academic pressure to do well in school One of the most distressing things about the bullying incidents is that few of the victims felt they could turn to their parents or teachers for help. A study of children who were considered bullied felt they had poor communication with their parents and suffered from parental violence. A clinical psychologist at Nara University of Education, said, “… bullying tends to happen between very close friends, and the situation is often worsened because bystanders do not try to intervene. The bullying often takes the form of social exclusion rather than violence.” A survey of middle schools found that the rate of bullying in classrooms where signs of classroom breakdown are seen is about five times higher than in classrooms where relations are good and rules are obeyed," Shigeo Kawamura, a professor at Waseda University's school of education, said: "If students' frustration with school rises, it's more likely that certain students will become punching bags for others to vent their frustration.” Molestation and statutory rape of children by teachers is a serious problem in Japan. In 1999, 116 teachers were disciplined for committing indecent acts on students. Of these, 56 were fired and 13 were charged with crimes. In 2001, there were 122 such cases. Experts believe that vast majority of cases go unreported. In 2002, 98 teachers were fired for obscene acts. In 2003, 155 teachers were disciplined for “indecent acts.” in 2005, 124 teachers were disciplined for sexual offenses, including child prostitution and secretly taking images of women. In 1995, only 27 teachers were disciplined for such acts. |
Never knew people could be this responsive to this kind of news. It really excites me to see people's reaction on this issue. I've been at the vanguard of safe school through my initiative 'where we learn'. It is actually on emotional safety in schools. Recently, the Lagos State Safety Commission held a conference on school safety, I attended, but what they talked about at the conference was all about the removal of physical safety in schools. They failed to take note of the fact that as schools strive to achieve the specific behaviors typical of an emotionally safe school, they will no doubt see improvements in the culture of the school, as well as in the performance, commitment, behavior, and interactions that occur within its walls. Likewise, as schools increase the agreement with each of the elements of a positive school climate, they can expect a reduction of stress commonly associated with failure, rebelliousness, disruptiveness, and passive student behavior such as bullying. All learners want to be safe and happy, supported, cared for, valued, appropriately challenged and engaged in ways that touch our hearts as well as our minds. When school members feel safe, valued, cared for, engaged and respected, learning measurably increases, and staff satisfaction and retention are enhanced. A growing body of empirical research shows that a positive school climate reduces dropouts and fosters youth development and academic achievement, as well as the knowledge, skills, and dispositions necessary for students to be responsible and productive members of a democratic society. It may also interest you as a reader to note that students cannot learn well and are not likely to behave well in difficult school environments. Indeed, research based evidence continues to demonstrate this critical connection (Where We Learn, Perkins, 2006). Unfortunately, however, the recent increased pressure to improve students' academic performance because of their not too impressive performance in WAEC and NECO exams over the years has led many to feel that they do not have time to address anything but academic instruction. That would appear to be a direct approach, but because relationships are so important to learning, strengthening instruction in a difficult school climate generally does not improve academic outcomes (ibid). It is only a safe and trusted school environment that can give students the security and encouragement they need to achieve academically. |
dokie: Apparently, many people are very shallow on NL and just start lambasting people that have a different view of life from them. the photographer took a picture of Mrs Obama and wanted to publish it in the newspaper back home. her appearance violates thier modesty code ( thank God they have one) and he used a tool to edit it so that it becomes okay to publish. what is wrong with that?you get mind, to fit speak the truth, you really get mind.
