Emm let's assume the position being used by the PA to claim points was for 3 years and PA changed role to another position for only 4 months before resigning from the company and not claiming any points with the 4 months position as it's a different NOC, should the employment reference letter have the two positions or just the 3 years used to claim pointshuh

PS: PA had 2 different supervisors for the 2 positions and not interested in claiming more points with the 4 months position but wishes to include it under personal history.

Cc happytbaby smiley
More points how? Don't worry yourself, complete 3 years of experience allots the maximum obtainable points for that category. The reference letter can include the 4 months stuff even though he isn't claiming points for it. The idea is that whatever you claim points for MUST be sufficiently backed up with proof. However, you can choose to provide more information than required by including it. There's no harm in doing that

I did not say he should put his program on hold. I said he should do short landing and then go and do his program ooooo. Short landing can even be a day trip from the US .
I get it now.

But then if it's 3 of 5, he can land, go do his two years masters programme in USA, then settle back afterwards in Canada for the next 3 years..
That was why I asked how long he/she would be away for the study. Many of such programs in the US run as MSc+PhD and usually takes longer than 3 years. I do not know which category his/hers belongs hence my suggestion.

Mcstan, you pointed out that 2 of 5 years, even though I think it's 3 of 5 years, whichever case it is, it means he can go to Canada to activate his residency status and then go back to the US to complete his studies. After his studies, he can then settle down in Canada and still get citizenship.

@ original poster, Google "short landing Canada" for more information. Actually you can eat your cake and still have it.
Yes dear, 3 of 5. That must've been an oversight. Thanks for pointing it out.
I do not think the funding college/body/organization would be that patient enough with her to put the program on hold for a whole 3 years. That's why I thought she rescinds it in my first suggestion. It'll be a good thing though if the admission can be put on hold for her sake.

Congratulations to all the ITA recipients. I have something bordering my mind. I am to resume in fall for my MSC in USA with funding. My PPR is likely to be around that time as PEBC is awaiting transcript from my alma mata.
I want to go for my MSC by fall because of the funding. When the PR call arrives, is it possible for me to go to Canada to finalise the PR thing for just a week and then return to US to finalise my study? Or must I stay for certain period of time in Canada before being able to travel out for study and other stuffs?
I need your submissions.
How long will you be away for your MSc? Well, to be eligible for a Canadian citizenship, you have to (among other requirements) spend a minimum cumulative period of 3 of 5 years living in Canada as a PR. Sure you can go back to the US as soon as you receive your Canadian PR card but do you think you would be able to meet that criterion while studying for a funded MSc program outside Canada? Mind you, chances are that you'd be stripped of your PR status if/when it is probable that you cannot meet that requirement for citizenship eligibility so you need to thread courteously.

Two things:
- You may choose to rescind this application, go for your masters and come back to continue afterwards. Afterall, ECA is usually valid for a maximum of 5 years so you'd still use it if you so desire.
- Reject the offer of admission, go ahead with your PR application and continue with your academic pursuit (in Canada) as a permanent resident.

The choice is yours to make finally sha. These are only my thoughts and I believe some other persons would chip in a thing or two

I also noticed my 4yrs old daughter who has an American passport got d copr but no visa. Would like suggestions on how best to tackle dis before visa expires. Cheers all
- Kindly notify IRCC of the error in your wife's passport number as soon as practicable. Read up how you can do that HERE
- Your daughter is a US citizen and therefore will not require a visa to enter Canada. The CoPR will do for her.

Funny enough I cannot see where to quote GlitteringStar for some weird reason so ayam quoting both of you.

I am not saying CIC will ultimately disqualify it, I am talking about the technicality of what a TB is worth at a point in it's life. I am okay with points 2 and 3.

If you decide to sell a TB prior to maturity you will sell it at a discount to face value however it should be higher than how much you paid for it initially (provided that interest rates have not moved up and your value gone down), this is a reasonable assumption since you would have expected to have earned some interest during the period you had the TB (holding period return). If you want to sell it today you cannot sell at face value.. ..it naturally follows that no one will buy it for the same amount that it will be redeemed in the future.

CIC aside, l was coming from the logical stand point of "I do not have that face value as at this moment and would not compare the exchange rates of today with a value of tomorrow, I will compare like with like" but this is me, it does not have to be what Guitarlife or any other person would do, I always prefer to be as safe as possible.

To answer Newmum, If I have 2 discounted instruments and they both have a tenor of 1 year but one has 2months to expiration, I will be more comfortable to use Face Value for the one expiring in two months time, I have already earned 10 months of interest .

For things like this, I guess CIC will most likely just let it slide because writing a rejection letter on the basis of POF saying that the DV is less than POF whilst FV is sufficient will be too 'one-kind'.
Hi sister, I think you are applying Fair value less cost to sell to this. What IRCC looks out for is how much you'd have in that investment upon maturity and not if you dispose at time, t. If they required the value at the time of application or receipt of ITA, then we can talk about present valuing the investment to get its correct position.

Anyway, there's nothing lost in doing it your way though. That would even mean applying more caution which isn't detrimental to one's application. Here,
guitarlife has indicated that she'd fall short of the POF requirement if she uses the discounted value. So it's safe to advise her to go with the Fair value.

All I can do is just to ignore your post., for peace to reign!!

Shalom.

Mr Know it all.
I understand your anger brother but you know what? Do not take it too much to heart. Most (if not all) of us here have regular jobs while also attending to questions here. Believe me, you'd likely be pissed off when you answer a particular question 4 times in successive pages of the same thread, whereas the inquirer could've just flipped a few pages back to find the answer they seek. Canadianfly or Elfmann would've given you a response that could rock you to the core grin.
Also note that not all of us have the same tolerance threshold for such avoidable repetitions.
Still on this same page 255, people have been referred to page 0. That page is richly blessed. If you had done a bit of back-flipping, you'd have seen the need to go visit that page. If you read this thread well enough, you will see how folks go out of their way to do research on behalf of others in a bid to give credible answers. So please take it easy, read page 0, come back here and ask the same Emmasonic your particular question and I bet my February salary that he'd respond. We are all learning here, one way or the other.

Thank you for your understanding

Hi All,
This crs tool is doing me somehow. I simulated my points twice and I didn't make 400. So, I decided to come to the ELDERS here incase there's something I'm not calculating correctly.

I'm the PA
Age: 34
Msc
7 years working experience
IELTS : 8,8,8,8 (WITH GOD and good prep)

Spouse:
Age: 32
Bsc
4 years working experience

Spouse will also sit for IELTS and her Degree will also be evaluated.

With this profile, can get above 400 points?
You must've been doing something wrong, obviously.
Given the details provided and a projected score of 8777 in LRWS for your spouse, your CRS score should be 454. That's good enough. Congrats in advance.

I'm guessing he's below 30, with a masters degree, 3 or more years of work experience and single. That combo with the IELTS score would give exactly 475 wink

I got encouraged here, so I'm also back to encourage another yet again... On IELTS

1st attempt: LRSW - 7.5,8,8,7
2nd attempt: LRSW - 8.5,8,7,6.5

Requested EOR on Speaking and Writing and after 10 weeks, my results came:

LRSW - 8.5,8,8.5,8. CRS did triple long jump from 374 to 424!
LOL. This one was not just an ordinary jump.
On a more serious note, the differences noted between the old and revised scores are very material. One would now begin to think that BC (Nigeria) are just keen on growing revenue rather than upholding the integrity of the examination. These differences couldn't have just been attributed to the subjective nature of those two modules. I can only imagine the trauma you had to endure all this time. I really think more people who think they've been unjustly awarded low marks (in SW) should request for remarks. Maybe then, these guys will buckle down and do the noble thing expected of them.
Forgive me for the rant, this one pained me big time.

I'm very happy for your breakthrough sis. Congratulations

pls I want to start the express entry but I have a question. I am planning my wedding later this year, if i start as a couple I might not get ITA as my points will have reduced. If i start as single, i will get ITA immediately. Is it possible I start now b4 wedding and after getting ITA nd submit my application, I should get married, can I include my new wife or is it not possible? I intend to provide enough POF for two people right from d beginning of my application. Sorry for my typos.

Gurus in d house pls help me.
It is advisable that you add her at any time after AoR but before landing. That way, your CRS won't be recalculated. This implies that your wedding date ought to be within that period as well.
The expectation is that you notify CIC if/when there are changes to your profile or family composition. So, eyebrows could be raised if you get married after receiving an ITA but only indicate after AoR. You might even be penalized
