If this is what we are talking about out from listed possible reasons for amnesty, then something else has to be done. Amnesty is not the solution. My only optional solution would be for general referendum to determine the Nigeria people wish. The Republic of Northern Nigeria and Republic of Southern Nigeria. Note: I did not use the word "Biafra". Republic of Southern Nigeria (freedom of religion). Republic of Northern Nigeria (Islamic religion).

No one is denying the existence of the real Boko Haram, with aspirations as those reproduced in the link you provided, however, what you are failing to appreciate is that this group have long been overtaken by other interest groups in the acts of terrorism, purporting to be the real B H.
They include the Political BH as well as the Criminal BH, with completely different ideology/motivation from the original one mentioned, but using the cover of the latter to carry out their agenda; while the latter is happy to claim responsibility for the sake of the added notoriety & relevance.
This thread is basically an affirmation of the existence of the Politically sponsored BH, in which the OP provided credible evidence that indeed corroborated these allegations, which in turn dove-tailled well with the alleged secessionists agenda, to wreak havoc & disunity in the country to facilitate their breakaway.
Your, solution for disintegration is not feasible because those peddling it, your politicians & local champions, are not serious and never want it because it not in their interest to divide the nation; they are only using it as a threat, a bargaining chip for more largees, when they come together (all the leaders belong to the same club, less than 10% of them controlling over 90% of our resources) to share the national cake between them. kettykin: I can understand when the North frets about the Break up of Nigeria , but i can not understand the case of Yorubas, these people have one of the Largest Coastal Boundaries with the Sea , they are not land locked , they have oil and gas deposit in Ondo state and Bitumen deposit in Osun ,Ogun and Ondo. They have a population of more than 40 million people bigger than 90% of all african countries , in fact bigger than all the other western African countries and some European countries. The Yorubas have 2 of the Largest Cities in Africa lagos and Ibadan and a fairly large number of educated populace including a nobel laureate, which most African Countries don't posses, they have enterprenuers who are listed in Forbes as among the top richest fellows in the world which most independent African countries don't have, they have a large arable land and cash crops like cocoa which earns forex.
But why these people would rather sink and die in Nigeria is what i still can not understand or comprehend , not only are they prepared to die and sink in Nigeria , they are prepared to spend the last drop of their blood to prevent less interested even land locked people from leaving the sinking ship.
Why would a group of people be more interested in being second class citizens in a country where they are now Marginalized and killed by fulani herdsmen than rather opt out and be on their own

Why are some ppl in denial? Are they saying that the above referenced & widely reported incidences (in our national dailies) where Christians were caught red handed involved in church bombings & other terrorist acts all lies - as if they didn't happen or what?
In fact its not hard for anyone with a little deductive mind, based on these happenings, to arrive at the following possibilities:
1. The ongoing violence would easily benefit & no doubt be playing into the hands of the secessionists, who want the disintegration of the country so they can breakaway. Its therefore not improbable that they (the ssecessionists) could be directly or indirectly responsible or at least involved in sponsoring of these insurgents.
2. Politics is game of number, a unified northern majority bbloc would no doubt be a threat & a challenge to Southern politicians. How else do you neutralize this threat if not by wrecking havoc among the northern groups, in this case along religious lines as we already have today - its no wonder therefore that the violence has largely remained confined in the north and between northern Christians & Muslims - with a helping hand from their Southern neighbors.
3. Many ppl are in a position to make a lot money out of the ongoing situation: among whom are criminal elements, particularly govt. officials & law enforcement agents allegedly siphoning huge sums of money under the guise of (bloated) security votes. How would these ppl want peace if they know they can continue making big money through boko haram; in fact no other than Urzo Kalu, a Christian & a former Southern Governor has recently added his voice to this allegation.

So who are they kidding, especially now as more and more evidence are emerging.

Don't get much light in my area in the north, I am surprised to hear some ppl still getting as much as 12hrs a day. If we get 3-7hrs a week we are lucky, our industries have closed, our gens are permanently on while NEPA acts as the occasional standby; some ppl posit its because generation from Kainji that should naturally reach us up north is being diverted to ppl in Enugu- it was even alleged that these ppl were even demonstrating when there was temporary problem with that plant last year- don't know whether this rumour is true, even so who are we to complain.

Mark my words, majority of those ignorantly welcoming SLS early departure will no doubt be amongst those who Will later be extolling his virtues and wishing he was still around. Simply put, ppl like Sanusi come only few and far in between.

Abiola was overwhelmingly voted by most Nigerians, prominent northerners ( Col. Umar Dangiwa, Balarabe Musa etc) were the first to rally to his support; but once he chose to play the ethnic card he was left on his own- the rest of course is history.
Ibos should therefore not make the same mistake, BH is a problem for all Nigerians, we should join together to solve it.; they also should look into the cause as to why they always seem atloggerheada with almost every other ethnicity - even among themselves- they definitely need to self-examine.
