@poster, Whatever you do, do not buy an hyundai brand new car. By the time your car is only two years old you would have spent up to the same amount used in buying it for servicing etc. Those guys are a big rip-off. They will reduce the price to make a lot of people buy them and then recover the cost (and even excess) during the so-called servicing. |

@lawyer, I am telling you oh. Some of this agents on nairaland will kill people. Imagine one taking me to land in funtopia area and showing me masterplan as document. Another one took me to a nice land in happyland estate. They put the "owner" through on the phone. I asked the so-called owner one simple question; who did you buy from(cos i had the documents the agent gave me) the man started telling me how he was in a meeting, bla bla bla. God will save people on this land matter. |

Lke i had said earlier, the Governor's consent is not the same as a C of O, but is a very legal document that gives you the peace of mind that once Governor has put his signature on the agreement, then you can be allowed to assign to someone. So even if you have a C of O, at the moment you want to sell, the Governor has to give his consent to that alienation. However, it might interest you that the Land use Act is being looked into and land might revert back to original family owners, so there might be no need for Governor's consent. |

@poster, Land use Act says all land belongs to the Government. Before any assignment of land, the Governor has to give his consent. However, a C of O is the certificate that Government gives you confirming that the land belongs to you for some years (usually 99) and then reverts back to the Government. It also states all conditions to be met by you while being a tenant of the Government. |

It has come to the knowledge of Lagos State Government that transactions and development are on-going on land outside the official gazetted village excisions granted by Government for the waterfront Land within the Lekki corridor of the State, particularly the Okun Ajah, Mopo Akinlade, Mopo Onibeju, 3. Government wishes to emphasize that no structure or building should be constructed within that parcel of land which situates between Okun Ajah village excision and Okun Mopo Akinlade village excision as it is particularly committed for the development of Okun Ajah Waterfront Scheme. This was published in the newspapers. Caveat Emptor! |

Gentlemen, Federal Government has awarded contract for the reconstruction of the road. However, the failed parts are being rehabilitated, so i am sure lagos-benin will soon be 4 hours, as it used to. |

@honeric, Travellling to Benin from Lagos takes about 7 hours. Of course i meant by car. Cant you decipher this from the previous post. |
It still takes about 7 hours to get to Benin from Lagos. I doubt if they will fix that road pretty soon. The airlines are smiling to the Banks, as a result of this. |
Moneyluv. Hahaha. For your information, i have bought 3 properties in Lagos. (Two of them from Nairaland). I am also looking to buy one in Benin. I am a lawyer by profession and training. Apart from that, i am very versatile.I also travel out of the country more than 5 times in a year, both official and personal visits. I wish you goodluck in your sales. However, this is a forum and not just an advert point. The essence is to make ourselves very informed. Selling land in benin, apart from those which has C of O can be very dicey. That's why i asked if you were connected with the Oba's palace, cos i understand how it works there. Goodluck once again. |
