If you tell them they will tag you a hater. The problem is that the majority of people relocating have never left the shores of Naija before so it will be very strange for a person who is paying 120k Naira (CAD 206) per annum for a self contain at Mowe that he/she has to pay 1800 CAD (N1million) a MONTH for a self contain in Toronto. Many cant comprehend, no matter how much you drum it.
OldwomanWoman:
Words of advise to women who are coming without their spouses..if you coming with kids..get ready!!! I notice nobody talks about the reality on ground…It will hit hard, you will question why you embarked on the journey..

Don’t let any agent deceive you to leave your spouse behind..I know they say it increases one’s chance ..who go get visa to get visa or better still..come alone first and do all the ground work then your kids can join you later..

People are not giving feedback on their first few months as international student with kids and no spouse.

If you insist, pls come into the country earlier..like two months before resumption..common mistakes women without their spouse make..

Come with plenty money too..plenty plenty money..if you know anyone in Canada (family) connect with them to see if they can accommodate pending when your sort accommodation..

Accommodation is one hell of a task for women with kids..you will go through hell and back before you find one .. even if you can prove that you can afford they won’t still give..

Last last some of us paid 6 months upfront!

Not to put fears but prepare yourself..prepare hard!

Don’t make the mistake of coming alone without spouse..spouse can accompany, then he returns once you are settled..

The worst time to travel as a mom with kids and no spouse is winter!!!!!!

No fears..just prepare yourself! Relocation is huge! Prepare!!!!!!

Using an immigration Lawyer can be quite expensive. You can go through the materials here and do it yourself or use an immigration consultant. A registered one oh.

You are already asking your friend for school fees to be paid back. How are you then going to get funds to make all the payments? Why don't try the Express Entry or dozens of other immigration routes available? While study visas are fast, it is only a small percentage that are being approved.
Legitmenaija:
Please i need help.

We contacted my cousin based in Canada so he can help me pay my fees to the school while we fund him back.

But he ended up like ruining everything by telling my mum that we should forget about school route, that i should consider using the immigration route so my kids and i can go together.

He said that the possibility of me getting a Visa is slim to non because i have no travel history.

He also said that i will suffer working while schooling because its extremely stressful

The original plan was that i will go alone while my kids will stay with my mother (i'm a single mum).

Guys please is it true i may not e given visa because i haven't traveled before?

Lastly, i intended using an immigration lawyer to handle my visa application.

Congratulations.

You didnt have to paint your friend in a bad light. I am sure he did his best for you. No need denigrating him and then saying all that. You think he does not have need for money? You too will soon enter the abroad and see that it is more difficult to have spare funds to dole out to people either in the form of loan or dash.
OkukuOne:
I have returned to share the good news on behalf of my wife!!!
It's PPR
God came through for us!!

I came to Nairaland in search of direction and guidance. I have been on the journey for ages and no one could help me financially, so I gave up. After a long while close pals that are in Canada advised me that since I can now afford it, I should try and join them in Canada. I tried and got admission in 2015/16, but I opted out again considering the fact that I am now married and it will be difficult to school, work, and work extra to care for the family I will be leaving behind. Again, I opted out.

Fast forward to 2021, two of my close pals (same friends) encouraged me to make a move now. They believe that I can comfortably pay the fees now. Well, this time around, I changed the narrative. I applied for my wife to study while I sponsor her.

She got admitted and we started looking for information and the best way to get SP. My good friend who persuaded me to start the journey again was there and feeding me with information bit by bit. But because of my person who knows Nairaland as far back as 2007, I fell back here to search for more information. I don't like to be at the mercy of any man. I started digging and reading timelines. I asked questions 2 or 3 times. I also mistakenly mentioned to my friend that I saw a different view from his in Nairaland. This got him mad and started treating me poorly. I got to a point, I felt it was time to do this thing on my own. I didn't contact him any longer and if he ask me about the process, I just tell him, we are waiting on God. in between, I had good savings, but money is never enough, so I mistakenly asked him and the other of my friend to help with payment of my wife first-semester fee while I kept my money I already saved as POF. I didn't intend to touch it till she leaves. This also caused another bad blood. Two of them turned their back on me w.r.t. money. If you really love your friends, I will advise, you should avoid asking for money from them. Money spoils relationships a lot.

We got admitted in March 2022, but we submitted the application in September 2022 because I want to satisfy my conscience that the money we had was well above what is needed.

It's one year program that is to commence in winter 2023. We paid the first-semester fee and showed a POF of over 13mil. After the application, I removed my mind completely till the allotted time for SP finishes before sending webform. This is not to say we were not checking her email. I raised just one webform on the 12th of December 2022 informing IRCC that the allotted time for review (60/90 days) has elapsed. I didn't hear from them on the 12th and 13th, but on the 14th day of December 2022, my wife's email got a new mail. The email address was strictly for this process. So, I hurriedly opened it on my phone and you need to see the joy overflowing in me.

Majority of the documents I gathered as supporting documents (i.e. a letter of reference from my company to a letter of reference from where she volunteered) I forgot to upload. These were key documents, but God proves Himself...

God will not share His glory with any man.

Review of eligibility: 22nd December 2022
Final Decision: 22nd December 2022

Before I forget, we didn't get any notification via mail or on her IRCC Account apart from upfront medical passed and Biometrics. every other notification was updated after the Original Passport Request of 14th December 2022.

Our Covenant highway came earlier than expected.

My final word here to all, everybody's situation is peculiar, though you can have one or two situations that look the same.

To all those waiting, the GOD that did this for us will do for you. Just have faith and believe.

See you all on the other side SOWP and Study Permits for kids.

I agree with you. Someone has security checks since July last year. It can range from 3 months - 18 months.

no defined timeline. People have different circumstances or activities that may prolong it. Also the issue of processing from the agency involved , IRCC does not do the security checks another govt agency does. So just wait for them you cant do anything to fast track it.

Not only is it contrary to our laws, it is totally against our culture.

Mind you Polygamy is cultural in this part of the world, the same way same-sex husband/wife is accepted both culturally and legally in those countries. It is a sad reality but it is what it is. Relatively new, same-sex marriage homes are becoming common in some western countries and they are trying to let their children know why that is. Are you aware that immigration forms and those forms we fill with enough fasting and prayers and going to sleep in churches for, have space/recognition for even Transgender?

MAKE WE DEY PLAY OH. SHEBI JAPA IS THE IN THING NOW? DEY PLAY OH.

That is if you are in Nigeria and it is not in our culture, but if you are in a foreign, western country what will you do? Take your children back to Nigeria?
Sucre6:
If I see this thing in my kids book, I will take it to the school authority and ask them to pull it down, if they refuse, i will escalate it to PTA and have all kids withdrawn from such evil organization called school,
This isn't sex education, this is telling kids it's cool to masturbate, how's that sex educationhuh
u don't know that young mind is full of curiosity, they would like to experience things first hand, they would read this book and want to try mastubation, what good would these do to our young children?

Its obvious u don't have kids yet, don't worry, you will change this statement ones you have kids

The shooting had nothing to do with the housing crisis. Its a mental issue. Anything can trigger people with mental issues. Unfortunately, in America there is easy access to weapons hence it is common there. In Canada access to weapon is not as easy as in yankee so these type of cases are limited.
tshtsh:
There was a shooting 5 mins from me in Vaughan last night. 5 people lost their lives. Surprised the media (BBC, CBC,CNN...) are not reporting the full story. The gunman was also killed by police in the process. At the end the Canada (especially GTA) housing crisis is now turning some people to become gunmen.
The story in the neighborhood is that a man was frustrated by members of his Condo Board and out of anger he got a gun and shot 6 of the board members.

In Canada today there is a limit on annual rental increases. This makes it impossible for landlords to increase rents for existing tenants by more than 2.5% in Ontario. Some landlords and Condo management coys find ways to frustrate tenants out of the building so they can rent to new tenants at an uncapped price. Looks like they did that to a 73 year old man who has been a tenant in the apartment for 11 years. Probably retired and faced with financial pressures as well as being too old to face the hurdles of finding a house he may have opted to pour his anger on the condo board members that took the decision against him. Wahala no dey finish
Family › Re: About To Divorce My Husband Who Sponsored Me In School. by megastu(m): 4:44pm On Dec 19, 2022
Do exactly what you have outlined. No apologies at all. I know you are a good person from your write up but pls do exactly what you have planned without any guilt, but please be careful with these moves now as your life might be in danger in his hands.
piecuntie:
HI NAIRALANDERS ;
I am about to seperate from husband who sponsored me in school because I am fed up.

I came from a very poor family. I met my husband when I was 19. He wasn't doing well either, he told me he was an engineer in a public hospital but as time went on I got to know he was a level 3 plumber in the civil service.

Well I was young, naive, hungry and blindly in love. He went to trade school and I encouraged him to go back to school for HND or bsc but he said he was going to sponsor me first. I got pregnant for him in my first year in school when I was 20yrs old, my mom was against it. I got to know he was 13years older than me while pregnant. HE TOLD ME HE WAS 26yrs old.

My mom wanted me to abort it, instead i packed my things and stayed with him.
He abused my mom and I defended him. I gave birth while in school and he continued to support me both financially. We fought during those period, series of red flag but I decided to ignore it as long he wasn't beating me. He abused me emotionally. He knew my family was poor and there was no where i could go.

I finished school and my friends told me not to marry a plumber, I declined and told them he promised to go to school.

I finished school and i was scared of depending on him with my child, we were not doing fine at all.

I had no choice than to date a rich guy who helped me with a good job in the year 2017. HE got to know about the guy and i broke up with him. I apologized and we GOT MARRIED LEGALLY and got pregnant with my second child. We spent only 150k.

All the money i made from my salary, I made sure i supported him, i moved out of the family house in the year 2019, we have been there for 8yrs, he couldnt afford to rent a house, I spent 400k, both of us had no friends, we only had each other. I helped my brother and they did well in business. I asked my husband to go back to school, he was still adamant.

We went to a traditional person and they told him there is a curse on his head that i should bathe and do some sacrifice for him, which i did.

By year 2020 he was doing fine, we didn't even go hungry during the lockdown, I supported him with 2million naira and we did our traditional marriage.

IT was his business patners who were notorious cheat and neglected their wife that did his groom men, They introduced him to an association, i have asked him what is the aim of the association, he cant tell me, it is a secret.

3 months after the wedding, he started cheating and even beat me for the first time on our wedding anniversary becaus of the girl,
When he saw i withdrawed all financia assistant like paying half of the rent and paying one of the kids school fees. he called family members to beg me and we settled and i bought a family car for us to use.

Since then i have been walking on eggs around him, he tells me i should respect his age that we are not mate, he beat me again last 3 months saying i am as proud as my mother and i abused his mother back.

This monday i had to run after bus to go to work because i told im i was looking for mOney, and he said i just call him a thief. I had no money on me i had to call my brother to give me money. He wasnt even bothered. He doesn't call me again, WE DONT GO OUT AGAIN

I don't stress him for expensive outing our wigs or phone.
I bought my phone or trip myself out. He would rather hang out with his friends. He tells his friends and the kids i wear cheap outfits.

My mind is now strong. I don't cry again if he offends me nor complain.

I want to divorce him , sell the car and use it for this UK study route and take my children as dependent without him knowing. I am tired of the marriage already. He is 44 while I am 31. i want to move on with my life.

Sorry for the long write up
