Politics › Re: Lawyers To INEC: Death Of APC Candidate Does Not Invalidate Election by menxer: 8:53am On Nov 23, 2015 |
donTbone: What I know and think about Kogi Election!
After Audu's death, I knew it wasn't just 'DEATH', he was killed intentionally. But I asked who might it be Lemme start from here...Audu was actualy nominated as the APC candidate because he gained ground in Kogi state and he was really popular, not because APC of the state eventually wanna make him go for the govnorship election or because he was a very good man, NO!. And in that case, for them (APC) to win, they need someone who will win the election.
Before his death, though the election wasn't concluded yet, am sure APC won.
Now My View about the incident.
Checking from what happened, we cant say Audu was killed by an opposition party but by his own party. Looking closely, I guess their plan is: If Audu should win the election, since they actually want his deputy as the gov, the best is to kill Audu, make his deputy be the gov then everything goes fine. But it backfired. The election is inconclusive and I don't think if there is a rerun of the voting (which I don't think there will be), APC might lose ground to PDP I Kogi state.
But my question is still... WHY WILL THEY WANT HIM DEAD? Your view from where you stand is narrow at best. if the APC wanted him dead, don't you think it would have made the work easier to kill him after he has been sworn in as governor? Do you know the man's health condition/history? |

Bobbystanley: I disagree with you. Candidacy matters a lot when it comes to election. Party comes second.
And as core Nigerians we are, Tribe is always a big factor to consider while Voting..
APC should field another candidate for a fresh election in my Opinion since the constitution says nothing about this kind of scenario. If you say the Constitution says nothing about this scenario, why suggest a fresh election? What happens to the running mate, can't he pick another person and move on? After all when President Yaradua died his second took over. |

It's obvious the seed of bigotry planted by PDP has grown into a tree and some people are relaxing under the shade.
In as much as I voted against GEJ/PDP in the elections, must we revert to that position every time there is a political Argument?
Of what good is the failed 3rd term bid of OBJ to our future?
If that 3rd term bid had succeeded, would GEJ not had benefited as a sitting Governor then?
As at the time that bid was a national issue how many governors kicked against it, talk less of GEJ? |

Ezenwammadu: All hail Biafra my mother land
Land of rising sun, we love and cherish, Beloved homeland of our brave heroes; We must defend our lives or we shall perish, We shall protect our hearts from all our foes; But if the price is death for all we hold dear, Then let us die without a shred of fear.
Hail to Biafra, consecrated nation, O fatherland, this be our solemn pledge: Defending thee shall be a dedication, Spilling our blood we’ll count a privilege; The waving standard which emboldens the free Shall always be our flag of liberty.
We shall emerge triumphant from this ordeal, And through the crucible unscathed we’ll pass; When we are poised the wounds of battle to heal, We shall remember those who died in mass; Then shall our trumpets peal the glorious song Of victory we scored o’er might and wrong.
Oh God, protect us from the hidden pitfall, Guide all our movements lest we go astray; Give us the strength to heed the humanist call: To give and not to count the cost’ each day; Bless those who rule to serve with resoluteness, To make this clime a land of righteousness. That anthem inspire war and fear, because it was written in war. I hope if ever Biafra is attained such anthem be revised to reflect the industrious spirit of the igbos not this victim mentality prayer it reeks of. (wishful thinking sha) |

Jesumed: South-eastern PDP bigwigs are currently holding a meeting, strategizing on how to make PDP win the next general elections which has been zoned to the north. Some southeastern jobless youths are busy fighting over one dead Biafra. The same jobless Igbos fought tirelessly for GEJ's second term to come to reality- but they were shamed! After this, they started fighting for Jimi Agbaje of Lagos(a southwestern state). They were shamed again. All these while, they didn't remember Biafra. Then when GEJ failed, and Jimi Agbaje failed and the PDP zone their next presidential candidate to the north, the Igbos youths knew they had failed in all ramifications, hence they began to agitate for Biafra, when their elite are busy enjoying at the national assembly and in PDP hoping for a next win in a united Nigeria! Will Biafra solve their problem? Wait, what exactly is their problem? from recent happenings it's obvious that the igbos are not politically creative as they are business savvy. They seem to be making political miscalculations too often. |

DickDastardly: The benefits of Jonathan's new auto policy
No matter the amount of destructive criticisms of the administration of President Goodluck Jonathan the opposition party, the good intentions of the administration is beginning to manifest in all the spheres of the country's economy as well as the wellbeing of the electorate. The good thing about the administration of President Jonathan is that it has not stopped churning out well-thought-out policies that are pro-people despite the progressive attacks by the combination of Boko Haram insurgents and the opposition party.
When the Federal Government rolled out the new auto policy, many armchair critics, probably induced by the opposition, went to work to reduce the policy to a mere propaganda tool to garner support of Nigerians ahead of 2015 general elections. Some of the spin doctors of All Progressive Congress (APC) came up with the ridiculous argument that the policy was not feasible and could not materialize.
To their disappointment, the policy has started yielding positive and practical results. An indication that the policy will lead to the drastic reduction in the prices of vehicles has emerged with The Stallion Group, the parent company of Hyundai Motors Nigeria directing that its locally assembled 1.1 liter engine Hyundai 110 car should sell at N1.5m and the 1.2litre engine Grand at N1.9m.
Before now the imported version of the above cars mentioned was put at N2.7m. Other automobile industries in the country have put finishing touches to assembling their brand of cars locally in the country, thereby making the products affordable to many Nigerians. With this, the era of importing used cars known in the local parlance as “Tokunbo” cars is over. One can now go to a car mart and pick a brand new car at an affordable price.
There is enormous capability of the new policy to create jobs for our teeming youths and adults alike. Imagine the large workforce that these automobile industries would accommodate in the course of assembling cars locally in the country. For those spin doctors of the APC who are buying space in some of the national dailies to lampoon the transformation agenda of this administration, the new auto policy has, among other achievements, shamed them and their paymasters.
Moribund automobile industries in the country are rapidly being revived since this new policy took effect. Recently, Pan Nigeria revived its moribund assembly plant in the country with the inauguration of Peugeot 301 production line in its Kaduna factory. Imagine the number of Nigerian unemployed youths that this company will engage in the course of its production. Those bashing will find it convenient to gloss over this achievement.
It will do Nigerians a whole lot of good if this and other achievements in are allowed to endure. This can be done by supporting the administration beyond 2015 through the reelection of Jonathan as president. This is not too big to do for an administration that has shown that the good things we see in other climes could be replicated here in our country.
Significantly, President Jonathan is focused on delivering good governance to the populace through formulation of people-oriented policies that are aimed at bettering the lots of the populace. For once, let the opposition accept that this administration has tried in the face of the myriad challenges that it faces progressively on daily basis.
The same success being recorded in the automobile industries is being replicated in the energy sector. In months to come the supply of electricity will improve beyond imagination that artisans and self employed Nigerians will redirect their attitude towards engaging others to expand whatever businesses they are doing.
How else can economic growth and well being of the populace be pursued other than what the administration of President Jonathan is doing in all sectors of the national economy? Read the testimony of the Managing Director, Pan Nigeria, Mr Ibrahim Boyi: “Our new plant had been fitted to handle multiple Original Equipment Manufacturer brand assembly and, when operational, we will require additional 250 workers at the SKD level, and over 1,000 worker when we migrate to the CKD'. Good news if you ask me.”

CCsurplus007: Investing in our education system? Well, PTDF still brought out advert for foreign scholarship this year same with NITDA. They would have as well cancelled both scholarship. China with her top rank schools( about four chinese universities are in the top 100 universities) still sends her citizens to the Usa and Canada. Infact if not for geographical spread which foreign universities adheres to, Chinese students would dominate all the universities in the USA and Canada. Even with the excellent medical program in India, the indians still sponsor her students to the Uk for medical programs. Is that all you could pick from my comment? Did you see "partial or outright domestication"? See the countries you comparing with, as if a lizard in Nigeria would change to a crocodile in UK. |

If you read beyond the headline, a place reads: The uncertainty over the presidential scholarship comes on the heels of the recent review of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) overseas scholarship scheme, due to a change in the policy direction, that include a partial or outright domestication of the scheme in Nigeria in line with the Local Content Policy of the Nigerian government. Pay attention to the highlighted, does it mean cancellation or investing in our education system? |

Na wa for some headlines
If Shell made several allegations against the justice to NJC, I bet all didn't take place in the last six months.
Some have failed to see that the investigations on the allegations by NJC started in GEJ administration and only came to a head in PMB administration.
If NJC recommends one of their own for retirement on grounds of misconduct, what is our own? Or are we gripping because one of our own is facing the consequences of his misconduct?
We should be happy that NJC is waking up from years of stupor. |
