OLAADEGBU:We are here discussing freewill and you start emotional blackmail by bringing in "moral law of God," for your information, there is no moral law except the ones made by man to keep people under control. I say that to mean, just like in science, the laws of classical physics hold true untill you enter the realms of quantum physics. Same with what you called "moral law of God," which doesn't exist in other realms of existence beyond the realms of religious indoctrination but as for freewill, you can't do without it no matter the realm of existence. By the way, the sharia law is the "moral law of God," I believe that it is binding on you as a non-Muslim. |
mansakhalifa:That is what I was thinking, when I saw this thread, because CRK and IRS are steeped in history albeit not ours. It's only history that will tell the story of the spread of these religious practices, the political and cultural issues thereto as it pertains to us. |
swiz123:You shot down your argument with the bolded. No nation can grow without depending on agriculture. Even as we are e-warring , would we have the strength to type if we have not eaten for some days? You need history to know you can't disassociate agriculture from nation building. |
What do we expect from men that were used to being the Executive in their states, still carrying over the Executive mentality into the legislature? Sometimes I wonder if the Senate is different from the Federal Government? |
hopefulLandlord:This is serious. Imagine, saying some are true scientists and others are not. Is he not aware there is what is called Christian science that researches into spirituality, mind, etc? Funny guy. |
OLAADEGBU:I guess hopefulLandlord was right after all. |
hopefulLandlord:I just realized I am trying to extricate myself from the paradox of Proverbs 26:4-5. |
OLAADEGBU:My conscience expresses itself through my intellect using freewill. Left to my conscience alone we wouldn't be having this conversation, because it doesn't communicate with outsiders, (except telepathically, which is not an option here) yet you keep insisting I am using my intellect which is just an expressive part of my being. How can you express yourself meaningfully, without your intellect? You are trying to use emotional blackmail (which is what that link is about) forgetting this thread is about freewill. |
OLAADEGBU:Do you think I haven't done that already? |
OLAADEGBU:So subscribing to a doctrine is not being afraid of conscience? That is still an exercise of freewill. |
OLAADEGBU:You are not through with freewill, you are bringing in conscience and intellect. Issorite! My opinion is a reflection of my conscience expressed intellectually using freewill. |
You guys can't see there is no platform for the pastor to prance around upon? If he doesn't stand on their backs how will those seated at the back of the church see him? ![]() Or maybe he is just reenacting the triumphal entry of the King into Jerusalem. |
Chidon1685:I guess you are not a newbie in use of English, it is spelt out there. Besides, it is called an oxymoron. |
The guy is right, else where would they get the effrontery to challenge the Pope, the Vicar of God, meanwhile majority of igbos are Catholics. Sorry, I forgot, they are now Jews. |
I can relate to what OP talks about, because I had first hand experience there. Apart from what OP highlights, another thing that bothered me then was, people will walk up to you after service and be like, "Broda please help me with transport fare," and you will be amazed because you saw that same person during service going to the alter to drop money like 5 times. And that is a very normal occurrences, not to talk of ladies doing the unthinkable to have money to meet up church demands. I left when I couldn't stand the deification of pastor and financial extortion anymore. Not to mention sundry taxing by church workers. Anyways, I have put all that behind because I know a lot better now. |
An2elect2:You made a blanket statement, condemning Christianity as practiced by christ embassy as not Christianity, implying your church is the real deal. |
An2elect2:Wonders, did I read that from you? I now understand what they meant by, "thank God I am an atheist" |
Igbos and marginalization
|
OLAADEGBU:That is just what a man created, and i am free to create mine. That doesn't mean you are not free to abdicate your creative freewill and adopt another man's creation. |
whoever wrote, "ignorance is bliss" was a genius... only that he forgot to add that that bliss is now coated with religious dogmatism. |
madridguy:@bolded, you cracked me up.... Lols Back to post, so Judaism and Islam pray the same way? |
sddiamond:Don't you think this PMB administration won't conduct a fair referendum? Why not wait for an Igbo president who would be fair to all? ![]() |
This Prof Adesanmi has finished us, chaii! ![]() I look forward to a rejoinder from any of the social media "vermins" he mentioned. He Has a point, so many successful businessmen left their thriving businesses for political position in government, only for the business to go down hill after life in government. |
Life is just a game of experience. You experienced the joy of a wedding day and honey moon, You experienced married life for a year without conception, Now you are about to experience the life of a divorcee. There are still many other stages of game play to experience... |
1) Life goes on. |
Whether you believe in reincarnation or not, doesn't change anything. Just like, because you have never heard of a branch of mathematics called Calculus doesn't mean it doesn't exist, and yet many people have heard of calculus but doesn't understand its principles or how to apply it. Beyond calculus there are other more advanced "mathematics" we don't even hear about but is used in many applications like weather forecast or landing a craft on a distant planet, or taking pictures of outer space, for instance. Same with reincarnation, there are other more advanced realities that we have not heard of or imagine yet is part of the workings of the matrix we call Life. |
That is an art work, not to be driven but hung on a wall or displayed in a museum. ![]() |
Here is a summary of the story: "Making love to a fatigued wife is as uninspiring as making love to her while she's asleep" - postmann |
I know I said, "I want to be forever young," I didn't mean to be bottle fed forever. |
APCHaram:This is a scientific study, things ought to be calibrated and quantified, even if we excuse the concentration of the active ingredients in the leaves, because someone reading the study may want to try it. The hallmark of science is the reproducibility of the results. I don't want to hear someone tried it, wanting to improve his quality of life, ends up with a permanent smile on his face. |
The only thing, which is a problem, that the study left out is the optimum dosage. |
