vikithor:This is response to Reno, on his comparison of a coward who fled mid-course in his mission, to an aspirant that wants to lead Yoruba youths into the streets. Sowore is unperturbed....unlike Kanu who was visibly stressed and anxious to be released. He came out the same way he went in, untransformed...and so when mortars came to him he didnt have the fortitude to stand. He skipped over the border and was gone...leaving innocent youths to be slaughtered. We are intolerant of such cowards....so Sowore wants to lead, Sowore must be toughened! Simple message. Why are you troubled about this response? |
Muslim Rights Concern, MURIC, has again attacked the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in the North over the recent kidnap of nine children from Kano State. Recall that MURIC had described the abduction of nine Muslim children in Kano and their alleged conversion to Christianity as kidnapping for Christ. In its reaction, Northern CAN described MURIC’s statement as ‘reckless, irresponsible, derogatory and provocative utterances.’ However, in a statement to DAILY POST on Monday, MURIC maintained its earlier position on the matter, insisting that CAN should put its house in order. MURIC’s statement was signed by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola. It added, “There is incontrovertible evidence that Muslim children have been kidnapped, converted to Christianity and sold into slavery. It is not the Kano 9 alone. “There are others. There is also indubitable evidence to prove that it did not start yesterday. What is Northern CAN trying to tell us? They are chasing shadows. “In our statement last Monday, we separated good Christians from bad ones. We also made it clear that we have both the good and the bad among Muslims too. Here are our exact words: ‘We are aware that not all Christians are involved in this criminal behavior. “Many adherents of Christianity are decent and peace-loving. Such Christians will never descend so low as to seize, convert and sell Muslim children. “Instead of joining hands with us to condemn the bad ones among us, Northern CAN is seeking to silence us. That is a tall dream. We advise Northern CAN to put its house in order and stop blaming MURIC. “Afterall, we did not mention anything about kidnapping for Christ until the issue of Kano 9 occurred and the revelation has exposed other similar cases. “We advise Northern CAN to launch a campaign of love and harmony in the churches. There is an urgent need to deradicalise Christian elements particularly in the Middle Belt region where Muslims are being killed and dumped inside mysterious ponds and narrow wells. “The same advocacy should be taken to South Eastern Nigeria from where syndicates sponsor sleeper cells to Northern Nigeria to abduct, convert and sell Muslim children into slavery. “Enough of denials and sentimentalities. Northern CAN should stop defending the indefensible. Its current body language is not remorseful. Your fellow Christians kidnapped Muslim children and converted them to Christianity. “The Muslims complain but instead of consoling them and checking your members you are firing at the victims from all cylinders. We know you very well. This has always been your style. You never own up. “We warn that Northern CAN should not drag Nigerian Christians into a controversy that involves only those who are in the dirty business of kidnapping Muslim children for conversion to Christianity. “We hold Jesus (peace be upon him) in very high esteem and our statement was not intended to malign him. No true Muslim will do that. “Extremist Christians can kidnap Muslims for Christ. That does not mean that Christ is involved. In fact Christ did not send them. They are only being more Christian than Christ himself. “Jesus never taught men to be wicked. He taught love, kindness and righteousness. It is highly mischievous of Northern CAN to attempt to whip up sentiments over mere semantics. “We find it difficult to believe CAN’s words, ‘No Christian has associated Muslims with such criminal acts. We only cry for our own who are victims’. Really? “This is a false claim and Nigerians know better. What of all the allegations against us in the early days of Boko Haram attacks on churches? “On a last note, we invite Northern CAN to put its house in order and join hands with the authorities in fishing out remaining sleeper cells for the kidnapping and conversion of Muslim children to Christianity. “We can all coexist peacefully but we must first eschew parochialism and address issues objectively. We can change this atmosphere of mutual suspicion if only we can be sincere with ourselves.” |
Prison is an oven of some sort. When we desire to use fire element to transform the state of an object we enclose it in an oven and subject to high degree of heat. The object undergoes a slow but continuous change in its properties so that what you get out at the end of the change is different from that which was put in at the beginning. Prison inmates can be likened to objects sitting in a trans-formative oven and waiting for change in behavioral properties or characteristics. No doubt, after a lengthy sentence they come out a changed person. We Yorubas are the pioneers of urban societies in Nigeria and we lead in social activism. We have a long list of activists against social injustice and inequitable treatments. We can go as far back as Chief Amodu Tijjani Oluwa, the Oluwa of Lagos, Herbert Macauley, Mrs Ransome Kuti, Chief Awolowo, Chief Adekunle Ajasin....to Fela Kuti, Dr Beko Kuti, Chief Gani Fawehinmi, Iba Gani Adams...and so on. When one of us rises up to lead a fight against social injustice it is expected that we will support him or her. It is a danger to rebel against authority. Therefore the leader of the protest must be a person of undaunted courage and proven endurance of spirit and resolve. When all else fails, he must stand and face the music. He must not flee. None of the people I listed above has ever fled, and even when their person, their family and their properties were greatly humiliated and persecuted and brought under undue pressure to succumb, they refused to yield to the pressure and remained resolved throughout. This is our pride! In the case of Sowore we have so far seen that he is unperturbed about his bail condition and he is not under pressure to come out of prison. He seems to not care what harm or injury he suffers while locked up. He is content, no stress and no anticipation of a hurry to get out on his part. We are watching him...and this is good! It will be to our advantage that the fears of the unknown is completely cleansed from his spirit so he becomes a hardened political activist, who in the face of danger is ready to risk it all to deliver those youths and elders we will commit to be his followers in the field. We may not be available to rush him out of this oven, we want him well baked.... We are intolerant of half-baked activists and separatists quick to flee across border at the fire of a mortar. If Sowore wants to lead Yoruba to the front he must undergo the hardening and become resolved. So far he is taking it in good spirit and stride. We will reward his endurance in due time.... |
Buhari says it will be unfair to accuse Federal Government of marginalising people in terms of projects allocation when local authorities in some states are frustrating contractors. President Muhammadu Buhari has issued a serious warning to state governments that create unnecessary impediment in the allocation of land for projects or refuse to cooperate with contractors. The President gave the warning on Saturday, October 19, 2019 in a statement issued by his media aide, Garba Shehu. Buhari said some local communities in some states frustrate contractors by making impossible demands for land compensations and even go as far as chasing them from sites. He said, “The idea of chasing away contractors on site or making undue demands from them by local communities or the deliberate actions of state governments to frustrate the allocation of lands for federal projects is an antithesis of the people’s welfare. “To compound matters, contractors kept away from site often make further demands for payment whenever they return to site.” “By denying the federal government lands for projects and creating unnecessary obstacles for the execution of these projects, it may be unfair to turn around and accuse the same Federal Government of marginalising people in terms of projects allocation. “When it comes to the welfare of the people, governments at all levels should be united by the common goal of improving the well being of the people, regardless of political affiliation. “It is, therefore, impossible to spread Federal Government projects when petty demands or politics is allowed to override the higher interest of the people.” Recall that in September, Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola alleged that some communities in the south-east demanded N100 billion compensation over the construction of Second Niger Bridge. Meanwhile, President Buhari had directed ministers to resolve all land issues threatening projects under their supervision. He added that if the issues remain unsolved, the project be relocated to other states. https://www.pulse.ng/news/local/buhari-threatens-to-relocate-fg-projects-from-states-that-frustrate-contractors/9pw3p9v

content208:So who is the Orunmila in Ife today? |
content208:Holy scriptures and manuscripts of divine worship dont. The vanguards of Christianity were not named in Bible. The vanguards of Islam were not named in Quran. The grand priest of Ifa in Yorubaland is Araba. You cannot deny connection between Araba and Ifa. So what does Araba mean to Ifa? Is Araba mentioned in Ifa? |

Iamgrey5:These people run riots online with news from village bulletins. ![]() Have you ever heard of an Ibo history preceding arrival of whiteman? None. They want Yoruba to be at their level and if we are not they get very annoyed and angry....start to fabricate negativities and falsehoods to stamp on us. Just ask an Ibo to tell you about Iboland of 1840. There is nothing available to tell. They were in forest. ![]() |
imhotep:I will soon join the chop-and-run gang. ![]() I am too Yoruba conscious to mix blood. Not that Im anti-diversity but its for other people, not moi! ![]() |

I encourage Yorubas who would like to know the root of Yoruba and how even the word ARAB and Koreish (the tribe of Mohammed) all came about to visit this thread in culture section and LEARN! Your ancestors were the pioneers of a World Order that preceeded Arabs. https://www.nairaland.com/4943703/r--b-cult-sustainer-nourisher-mankind#75140010 |
BuhariAdvocate:Yoruba was not founded by Hausa. In a multicultural society when you marry or cohabit with a culture different than yours you will soon loose conservatism and patriotism formerly exclusive to your own ethnicity and become a liberal....or jack of all trade. The effect of cohabiting with Ibo wife has had its effect on FFKs sense of patriotism to Yoruba. He tries to shed himself of his Yorubaness so he can have acceptance and approval of his Ibo society. Its a structure he must promote so that his children will not become ostracised and have no base in either. I can give the root of where the word Yoruba originated and how it is popularized. The Northerners did not coin it. They only repeated what was already in circulation. Take for instance Nigeria. Its root is Niger. Niger was already a word in circulation before Mrs Lugard who added "ia" to anglocize and differentiate it from the French Niger. Yoruba had been in existence long before Hausa became a nation. The creators of Hausa States were migrants from Kukawa (old capital of Borno). There was nothing called Hausa before they migrated Westward. In Kukawa they were know as Habe...or Kabe. But in Kukawa Yoruba was already a known State. So Hausa took knowledge of Yoruba in Kukawa with them when they formed their new States. Its a long pearl of history not deserved to be told here because we are sorrounded by pigs....they will soak it in mud and grunt over it. ![]() Check my profile. There is reason I use that picture. Proud Yorubaman here with deep sense of history and facts! ![]() |
badman007: ![]() You Edo people like to write nonsense that have no facts but filled with myths. When you are confronted with facts you loose your orientation and panic. Just an ordinary picture fa....a fact of your political position and hereditary lineage....and for over seven hours now youve shared about four contradicting versions of what your kingdom represents. Its a pity! I love pictures. They speak volumes! |
scaramucci:Hausas have been living in Lagos long before White man discovered you in forest and opened your eyes to modernity....and they have never dreamt of taking over. They are also city dwellers and builders, they do not need another man's city or contend ownership of foreign lands. Very content with their root. Unlike Ibo, forest dwellers that have never seen a built city before and dont know how to build one....ever since you entered Lagos your daily ambition is to own it. Dont put Hausa in same level of uncivilization you are in. They dont want another man's city abeg. |
kettykin:That is her opinion....a biased one. Her job is to rule on law. Because of her bias now we are not sure Sowore will get fair trial. This is miscarriage, his lawyers should declare a mistrial. |
MelesZenawi:Shut up there! This Judge should censored for unprofessionalism on the bench. A judge saying she found it hard a defendant in her court could not find surety for 50m naira has trangressed the boundaries of her duty as Judge. That is her opinion. She sound like she has been influenced by that thought. I smell miscarriage of justice! |

Listen to this... 1. Lion escaped his enclosure. 2. Followed google navigation to goat enclosure. 3. Unlocked gate, got in and then killed and ate two goats. 4. He was tranquilized with 5ml dart and knocked out in goat cage. 5. He was then transported back to its own cage. 6. After 5ml tranquilizer wore off Lion was back up and ok. 7. That night lion googled ostrich and found oh yeah, there are couple of them nearby. 8. He located their cage in google search and followed the map navigation. 9. Once there he unlocked their gate and got in. 10. He killed two ostriches and devoured one. 11. Zoo keepers shot long distance 5ml tranquilizer dart at him but since eating goat and ostrich back to back he has become like Tarzan, he just shook dart off and strolled around. 12. Zookeepers sent SOS to Abuja for stronger tranquilizer capable of knocking out Tarzan. 13. Dispatched team from Abuja didnt find early flight and arrived late. 14. Zoo has no flood light. So they pulled in cars and beamed lights in Ostrich cage looking for Tarzan. 15. All of sudden they realized the stronger tranquilizer of 10ml is for short distance and will not even touch Tarzan. 16. Its dark. They suspect Tarzan might search google for humans next time. 17. They are in a behind door meeting and setting up a committee to look into possibility of calling one of the JTF hunters in Maiduguri to forget about bokoharam for now, come with gun and long distance bullet to kill Tarzan. 18. Total cost of this national tragedy so far = 53million naira. |
