Politics › Re: Revolution Now - Fela And Nigerian Celebrities by MetaPhysical: 5:21am On Aug 05, 2019 |
NSNA: If Fela was alive he would be the one leading the RevolutionNow protest. In fact, Fela is arguably still the instigator of the movement decades after his death as he is a great influence on Sowore according to him.
With the current Nigerian celebrities, it has become obvious that their mouths have been bought and locked up and they have become like slaves. It is a shame because Fela the man who many of them claim as a hero fought for the masses.
The silence is too loud in the face of suffering masses who look up to them.
What do you think? Humans have innate alarms. The reason they are there is to alert us subconsciously to hazards and dangers and other things incompatible and which if not addressed could hurt or damage our self-dignity and thus subvert character. Through a regimen of disciplined life style outwardly one is able to keep character in fine tune and in good atonement with the subconscious and its varieties of alarm triggers. Materialism and living for the purpose to satisfy appetites and physical comfort can thwart the inner harmony and result in disregard when alarms go off to warn that something is not right. Gross materialism is obsession for immediate gratification for comforts and thirsts and at which point the subconscious is muted to the ringing alarms and is never able to take action and rescue self in times of danger. The societies in the North are able to rise and speak defensively for their beliefs and get a result because comparably materialism and its obsession is at very low rate up in North. There was a cartoon depiction following Kaduna Declaration in which a Northerner is shown immediately heading North with his kettle and mat in hand, free of any commitment. The Southerner that would be heading South is finding difficulty departing because over the years he had enslaved himself to materialism and is now held down by those commitments. The celebrities of today are in it for material obsession - buy mansion, buy range rover, buy rolls royce, buy g-wagon, buy private jet. If you look closely you will see that Pastors lead this pack. Religion teaches modest and disciplined life style. So those who teach religion to society are themselves immodest and live extravagant and in excess...the picture of the Southerner departing North comes readily to mind. A people who are incapable of self-rescue when endangered! |

asuustrike1: So Sowore couldn't lead a protest before the elections but wants to do it now?. Many Nigerians witnessed the plague during PMB's era yet they foolishly voted him back why the worry Sowore? Is there something you are not saying that needs clarification? Is this a scripted episode? Are Nigerians even ready for protest in the first place? Many of you do not need replies on this forum but it is necessary to coach you and redirect your thoughts to meaningful and logical reasoning. So I will break it down like I do when I teach Mathematics to SS grade students. 1 - Sowore wanted to do just what Presidency said - change government through electoral process - and so he joined the race for that purpose. 2 - You have said Buhari stole people's mandate and rigged the election outcome. That means the process to change govt was flawed. 3 - The way to address the outcome is go to court for redress. PDP is in court 4 - None of the items of grievances listed by #revolutionnow is new to the grievances already voiced from the four corners of Nigeria. 5 - Sowore's activism predated the 4th Republic that we are in. Sahara Reporters "SR' which he owns came about as result of activism in NY. Sowore does not loose, SR is a treasure that will sustain him and generations into the future. Infact, he ought to retire from activism, sit back and enjoy his wealth. So why really is he leading a protest against the ruling government? He is doing so because PDP, the opposition party has failed to hold this govt feet to the fire. Many of you in PDP who oppose this revolution protest ought to have your brains checked. Sowore is doing what your party should be doing. When GEJ was in Govt, was ACN and CPC, which later became APC, not constantly voicing out opposition and even providing platform that protested against PDP? Where do you think the phrase clueless came from, and then multiplied via voices on social media until it finally became a brand for GEJ? Do you recall his interview infront of Christian Amanpour and broadcasted live around the world? I dont need to talk at length and get a restriction from nairaland's bot..but Give Sowore a slack. |

franchasng: I used to think that it was only Azikiwe that knew about the coup, but the truth is, all the ruling politicians knew about the coup but refused to act.
Akintola Williams the Western Premier got information about the coup from Zik and Akintola told Sir Ahmadu Bello, but Bello waved it aside, saying nothing will happen.
Azikiwe warned Akintola again and then took a medical leave with his Yoruba doctor. Then Akintola angrily went to Kaduna to warn Ahmadu Bello the Northern Premier, but Ahmadu Bello again refused to listen, so Akintola went and bought a rifle to arm himself at his Ibadan official residence.
When the coupist arrived Akintola's official residence, they didn't plan to kill him but as soon as Akintola sighted them, he rushed and grabbed his rifle and started shooting at them which made them kill him during exchange of fire, though he was on their list of those to be killed.
Also, the coupist didn't plan to kill Tafawa Belewa the Prime Minister, but when they heard the coup has foiled, they killed all the politicians they took on house arrest, including Belewa.
The people they had their names for killing were:
1.) Ahmadu Bello because he was a tribal bigot
2.) Akintola Williams for his alignment with Bello and his political tuzzle with Awolowo (the coupist loved Awolowo who was serving a jail term for treason at Enugu Prison)
3.) Azikiwe for his love for Northern Nigeria against the south but he used his wisdom and ran away in disguise of going for medical trip.
4.) Aguiyi Ironsi was also on their list of those to be killed
5.) Okotie Ebo because of his corrupt lifestyle and showoffs
One Yoruba Major that got killed with his wife was killed because he tried to pull out his rifle from his drawer, and they shot him. I want to respond to bullshyyte you wrote but first I need you to recognize and modiy that Akintola Williams is an Accountant and still alive. Go here to learn about him.... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Akintola_WilliamsAare Ona Kakanfo Samuel Ladoke Akintola was the Premier of Western Nigeria that Ibo coupists assassinated. |

Ojukwu actually disguised to escape. Infact he went into hiding and had to be helped by good samarithans. Before now I used to think people were just saying it to taunt him.
Another one is that Ojukwu' son still trembles whenever he sees lightning or hears thunder blast because of the experience he had about 50yrs ago during the war. The sumary is that war is never an option to disagrement s. Dialogue is the best option. We should learn from the past to avoid repeating foolish mistakes. I have issues with some of the demands. I think demanding everybody to use public school or hospital is unreasonable. We practice democracy. Capitalism (open market) is a core principle of democracy. So there will be choices in the market, driven by price and quality differentiation.
Democracy and capitalism are American ideals and demands that threaten their continuity unsettles the Americans and make them edgy. They might think Sowore will succeed in kicking this government out and bring in ideals that contradict their value system. Naturally they would not offer assistance to the revolutionary cause.

oduduwa is more or less a symbol of yoruba unity.
What we call yorubas today is mostly territorial. People who have inter married, and mixed a lot that you can"t separate them anymore. We speak one language with different dialect as a means of identity.
Yorubas alone contain more 30 tribes who at some point migrated from somewhere. and we have migrated to places like benin republic. And yes, eguns identify themselves as yorubas.
If I may ask, which obatala did akoko people migrated from or they are not yorubas too? What about the aworis?
Now back to sowore, Apoi tribe are yorubas by territory. How is that hard to understand?
Look at itsekiri for example, despite the fact that they bear yoruba names and speak mixed yoruba, do you know why yorubas don't call them yoruba? Simple, they are not in yoruba territory. I'm sure they would be yorubas automatically if they are in ogun or ekiti. . What is meaning of Omoyele Sowore in Ijaw? What is his Ijaw name? |

Zamfara to employ ex-bandits to combat killings, kidnapping
The Zamfara State Government on Monday said it would employ repentant bandits in the state and give them money to set up business to end banditry and its resultant killings and abductions in the state.
The state government has also agreed to disband its 8,500 civilian Joint Task Force recruited by the former governor, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari, as demanded by the bandits during a peace deal between the government and the repentant hoodlums.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Security, Alhaji Abubakar Dauran, said the government decided to employ the repentant bandits and empower some of their illiterate members because they had embraced peace.
He said most of the bandits were Fulani.
Bandits have consistently attacked Zamfara towns and villages in the last five years.
Yari had during a town hall meeting in Gusau, the state capital, in April said bandits had killed 3,526 persons in the state in the last five years.
He had also said, “Over 13,000 hectares of farmlands were either destroyed or made useless as farmers can no longer use the lands for farming. Nearly 500 villages have also been devastated and 8,219 persons were injured, some are still in critical conditions.”
But since the assumption of Governor Bello Matawalle in office, the bandits had been surrendering their arms and releasing their captives after the government engaged the hoodlums in a dialogue.
On Sunday, Matawalle in Abuja, said the bandits had freed 300 people they kidnapped.
When asked if there was any agreement between the bandits and the state government, Dauran, in an interview with The PUNCH, said the bandits agreed to surrender their arms.
He said, “The state government has plans to recruit those of them with relevant academic qualifications into the civil service, while others who have not gone to school will be assisted in their cattle breeding business.
“The Fulani have fully embraced the peace initiative and are now moving freely in the markets and other places that were hitherto no-go areas for them.”
According to him, the state government is going to give the bandits, who are Fulani, “some money to set up business and will also provide them with some feeds for their animals.”
Dauran added, “There was a concrete arrangement between the bandits and the state government. They (bandits) agreed to surrender and release their captives if the state government could also release their people arrested by the security agents.”
He added that the bandits asked the state government to allow their people in hideouts to come out and move freely in the state without being attacked or harassed by the volunteer groups otherwise known as “Yansakai.”
Bandits ask Zamfara to disband 8,500 civilian JTF
The governor said, “They requested the government to disband the 8,500 civilian JTF (Joint Task Force) recruited by the former governor, Alhaji Abdul Aziz Yari, as well as the volunteer groups which have been attacking and killing their people, thereby causing them to embark on reprisals against the people.”
According to him, a meeting was convened between the Fulani and other groups. He said there was reconciliation after the government fulfilled its pledge and ordered the release of some bandits, while the civilian JTF and the volunteer groups were also disbanded.
According to him, the state government will soon create Ruga settlements for the Fulani where social facilities such as schools, hospitals and dams will be provided to make them comfortable.
Dauran stated, “The repentant bandits have surrendered many AK47 guns and a lot of ammunition,” adding that more weapons were expected to be surrendered in the near future.
Bandits kill 20 in Katsina, abduct woman
But few days after the Zamfara State Government reached an agreement with the bandits, hoodlums attacked Zango-Pawa in the Zangon-Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State and killed 20 people on Sunday. They also abducted a woman.
Residents told one of our correspondents on Monday that the bandits also razed several houses, including that of the village head who reportedly escaped the attack.
Sources said the bandits arrived in the village on motorcycles around 6.30pm on Sunday and started shooting.
A local government worker in the village, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said some of the bandits also came back on Monday morning.
Bandits prevent villagers from burying victims
According to him, the development prevented residents from burying some of the victims.
He said, “Nobody can say exactly what is happening in the village now. The bandits came on Sunday evening at about 6.30pm. After they have wreaked havoc, we were able to evacuate 20 corpses but as some of the corpses were being buried on Monday, they came again and we had no option but to abandon the burial and take to our heels.”
The spokesman for the police command, Gambo Isah, who said he had yet to verify the genuineness or otherwise of the incident, promised to call back.
“Let me verify and I will get back,” he replied to the SMS by this reporter.
As of 5:30pm when the report was being sent, he had yet to respond to enquiries by one of our correspondents. https://www.google.com/amp/s/punchng.com/zamfara-to-employ-ex-bandits-to-combat-killings-kidnapping/amp/
