Politics › What SW Govs Did Not Have Balls To Do; Done In NW Already! SW, Shake Your Fears by MetaPhysical(op): 1:11am On Aug 02, 2019
1. Fulani Herdsmen banned by NW Govs from carrying AK47 in public. It is now crime to be seen in public with AK47 or any assault weapon in NW States.

2. Fulani bandits vigilante banned and ordered to release kidnapped captives.

My SW Govs were told months ago fulani herdsmen and bandits are dangers in SW, they did not take action....even when their Chairman, Gov Akeredolu personally ran into fulani kidnappers on Akure road.

SW Govs were afraid of stepping on toes.

They had a security summit three weeks ago following Mrs Olakunri's death. No action, no resolve, no proclamation!

After that, recently discovered that miyetti Allah has been operating a vigilante in Yorubaland, even when Govs will not back OPC to operate as a vigilante.

Yet, no initiative, no action. Miyetti Allah is still in forest mounting checkpoints. My Govs are blowing grammar everyday in news and analysing security.

Now that NW Govs, those who cant speak the queens language eloquently but without doubt carry BIG BALLS between legz, have taken bold steps and did what SW Govs did not have heart and courage to do.....can I beg my SW Govs to please follow in footsteps of Northern Govs and do the right thing for our people in Yorubaland?

Politics › Fulani Christian Leaders Warn Buhari On Activities Of Arewa Pastors by MetaPhysical(op): 2:54am On Aug 01, 2019
The National Leader of Fulani Christian Association of Nigeria (FULCAN), Rev. Buba Aliyu, has called on President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government to be wary of the activities of ‘Arewa Pastors’ a non denominational initiative for peace.

He said that the pastor’s recent call for the leadership of CAN to apologize to President Buhari or resign were capable of generating problems between the federal government and the leaders of Christian Association of Nigeria.

Aliyu told journalists in Jos, the Plateau State capital, that the recent utterances of the leader of Arewa Pastors, Bishop Richard John, against the leadership of Christians in Nigeria have portrayed the leadership of CAN in bad light before the federal government.

“While in the true sense, the leadership of Christians (CAN) has nothing against the federal government as it only gives a word of caution when necessary, to the federal authority so that they will be peace in the polity.”

The FULCAN leader, therefore, disociated himself from being the North-East Coordinator for Arewa Pastors; wondering why he would be linked with Arewa Pastors who have refused to operate under the Leadership of CAN, the overall leadership of Christians in the country.

According to him, the difficult time both Christians and Muslims are currently in, should be used by all to work as a team in collaboration with the federal government to bring about lasting peace in the North and other parts of the country not a period for anybody to cause bad blood between the government and CAN leadership.

He noted that both Christian Fulanis and their Muslim brothers have for long co-existed peacefully with their host communities in Plateau and Benue States and also other North-Central states.

“However, whatever could be responsible for the recent disagreements and conflicts between them could be sorted out through dialogue.”

The FULCAN leader equally advised President Muhammadu Buhari to see Christian leaders in the North and at the national level as partners in progress and not allow himself to be deceived by Arewa Pastors.

On the suspended Ruga Policy of the federal government, Aliyu advised government to handle the matter with caution and wisdom, warning that without peace, the Ruga Settlement policy no matter how well intended, will be an exercise in futility as the natives of the land will not buy into the policy.

‘’The Fulanis cannot live in isolation as they will find it difficult to live in these proposed settlements, so peace must be given a chance,” he admonished.

He appealed to non-governmental organizations and public spirited Nigerians to help in training the children of Fulani like others, saying every tribe in this country can contribute meaningfully to the development of this country.

DAILY POST recalls that last Friday, the Arewa Pastors Non-Denominational Initiative for Peace (APNIP), had cautioned the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) over their alleged attacks on President Muhammadu Buhari.

The national chairman of the Arewa pastors, John Abu Richard, made the call while briefing journalists in Abuja, urging CAN to immediately apologise to the president over the unwarranted attacks.

“We caution CAN leadership to immediately apologise to the Nigerian Christians for going against the objectives that form the association and should resign from their positions for allowing themselves to be used by some certain quarters of politicians to heat up the polity.”

According to him, “CAN leadership now instigates the Nigerian Christians to hate President Muhammadu Buhari, build tensions and are trying to divide the country along religious lines and if possible cause religious war,” he said.

He noted that CAN leadership has dabbled into high sensitive national security issues that could set the entire country on fire, adding that “as clergymen, we are charged by our Holy Book to pray for our leaders irrespective of tribe and religion.”

hisexcellency34:
General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) has reportedly apologised to some Southern leaders over the boycotting of the roundtable on security which was turned down on Sunday.

The leaders, under the aegis of the Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum (SMBLF), disclosed that they had bought air tickets and concluded arrangements to travel by air to the summit but were compelled to dishonour the invitation in a last-minute decision when they discovered the inclusion of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association (MACBAN) of Nigeria among those invited.

Speaking with Daily Independent on Tuesday, one of the leaders said General Abdulsalami called the leaders and profusely apologised, saying he did not see the issue the way it was portrayed.

“In fairness to him he called some of our leaders and apologised to them on the day he received our letter. He said he did not see it that way”.

https://www.independent.ng/insecurity-buhari-meets-south-west-monarchs-today/
This is example of why Southerners continue to be held down. They are already backing away from their earlier position. How could Abdulsalami not see it the way they saw it? There is only one way to see it! If Abdulsalami did not see that then he perharps is the wrong person to be mediating such a highly heated national issue. Maybe someone who has eyes to see things clearly should step forward as a mediator. My Southern leaders are already softening for the nonsense excuse from Abdulsalami.

Yoruba fought a war that lasted a decade....not to mention the theaters were on different fronts and we did not loose even half a million.

The voice for restructuring is not winning the battle. If they were Mr Buhari will not say what he said there.

That statement betrays what is to happen between now and 2023. Buhari should not have to name a successor, there is no need for it when Osinbajo is the assumed successor. Our laws are clear on all acts of criminalities, in this case, a clear case of felony. Nigerians expect that the enforcement of relevant laws should apply to every Nigerian, irrespective of class and status. This government would not be found wanting where it is required to take decisive actions.

The question truly should be "why aren't those in support of equity and justice standing up and demanding justice for IMN"?

Great kudos to Igbos that stood up and spoke up! Fulani herdsmen is shielded from prosecution from crime against society but those who protest the continued detention of their leader are called criminals for standing up to the govt.

You asked for the input of intelligent people, yet you went ahead to describe a certain group of people in a very grotesque manner.
I don't think intelligent people do that when making contributions in a public discourse. Therefore you don't have any business with this thread because you failed to show the instincts of an intelligent person.

It is true that not all security breaches are perpetrated by Fulani Herdsmen. Hoodlums will always take advantage of emerging security problems. For example, when good people protest on the streets to register their displeasure over a government policy, miscreants also cease the opportunity to loot and destroy.

Locals kidnapping and killing under the guise of herders doesn't obliterate the fact that herders are the root of this ravaging security problem. Coupled with government's lackadaisical attitude, the problem has now become a hydra headed problem where ordinary thieves/criminals are now regarded as herders.

@OP, I want to ask if Yorubas, Igbos, and even your people in Orolu Kingdom take their COWS to destroy their own farmlands?

Report of COWS destroying farmlands, is it also a conspiracy by Yorubas and Igbos to label Fulanis as bad people?
The Fulani vigilante in Ondo state, is it the Yorubas or Igbos that constituted them? What makes you think Fulanis and by extension herders don't have the courage to kidnap in the South?
The self confessions of Miyetti Allah over this issue, is it a conspiracy by Yorubas and Igbos?

Herdsmen are responsible for this carnage because they are the underlying problem. When we're done with them, then we will go after any other person that is causing trouble

Regards
It is very clear indeed that Fulani is the terror in the South. Since Afenifere opened heat on macban and Northern Elders, not another single killing has been recorded in SW and the herdsmen are still there in the bush grazing and in tow with their ak47. Why has their atrocities suddenly ceased?

If this was an act of robbery, robbers do not have an organized voice that speak for them like macban and Northern Elders does for herdsmen....and the killings and kidnaps would not have suddenly stopped.

I dont know how to talk about fulani decently. Your ethnic brand is grotesque and savage.

Vodacom used to sponsor the Hobbie Cat Water Craft race on the Lagos lagoon over 10 years ago. I don't know if they still do so. In those days, expatriates and Nigerians working with Elder Dempster, AP Moller, Panalpina and other shipping companies used to compete in a race on the lagoon, using various types of boats. It was fun. cheesy

It was not just a good way to unwind, they also used the event to showcase different models &brands of boats, in addition to raising money for charity. wink

In different parts of the world, waterfront property is the most exclusive type and yields a lot in terms of property taxes for govt.

The waterside jetties also host some of the best restaurants, pubs and outlets that specialise in fine dining and seafood. cool

If our waterways and waterside properties are well developed, they can turn into a money spinner for govt and create a whole new set of jobs for the maritime industry. sad

Can you imagine if we had regular, safe, scheduled trips from Lagos to Warri or Port-harcourt by sea, using large luxurious ferries or hovercrafts? Think of the pressure that would be taken off our roads.... undecided
Excellent! Very excellent!!
Particularly on the jobs creation and inter-state transportation and leisure cruises, YES!

Even before the boating clubs Aworis used to have boat regalia competitions on the waterfront from Idumagbo to Marina and back to Idumagbo.
That, with the foreigners water sports, hopefully will reignite activities and improve tourist interests....which ties back in to your point on job growth and income, even if seasonal at best!

freeze001:
We must be really forgiving in this country. Now all criminals need to do is up their game to high-level, large-scale criminality resulting in massive loss of lives, bloodshed, destruction of property and voila! The government is at their feet offering all sorts of goodies and incentives to 'repentant' criminals. Nothing is said of the victims of these vile fulani criminals who invade the Nigerian space to cause mayhem.

So the government can offer civil service and education now? Why aren't these opportunities opened up and made accessible to citizens from Day 1? It is until they take to criminality and innocent citizens are forever affected by the actions of these criminals that the government realises what can be done right? What steps are being taken to secure our porous borders so that the 'new bandits' do not actually resume duties and wait for ruga settlement? Who is actually probng the source of their arms and ammunition and ensuring that illegal access to such weapons is blocked?

Ex-bandits are now employed to contain new bandits; ex-treasury looters being screened to become Ministers and an ex-BH member could rise to become President of Nigeria according to Army GOC. It is indeed a shame.
You are correct....Amnesty for criminals! Why do we even have law against crime?
bokoharam repentants were absorbed into the Nigerian Army. They became the insider that passes Army positions and activities info across to the terrorists. When bandits start to make demand on a chief security officer and their demands are met it means the state security apparatus are not dependable and must not be relied upon for protection. Repentant bandits will be recruited and placed on government payroll but they will start sabotaging government fight against active bandits and the war will escalate. These governors made very big mistake when they start meeting on negotiating table with terrorists and criminals and discussing peace with them. People that should be languishing in prison are on executive table sipping tea and eating snacks with governors to discuss rewards and incentives and a buy-out from attacks on innocent women and children in rural areas. Imagine that!

IGR is about to skyrocket.

Water transportation
Tolls on water traffic (a pre-colonial revenue method invented by the Ijebus)
Levies on water vehicles
Licensing on Jetties and storage
Taxation on leisure and luxury water crafts

Do the boating clubs still host water sports leisures and competition? That would be another source of income, depending on its regularity.
