May God bless these Southern and Middle Belt Leaders for standing upright and rejected to sit in any national socio cultural meeting with cattle breeders union.

Governors that have been meeting qith them need to take example from this. Macban amd all other cattle breeders by any name are just like fish sellers and onion sellers and gari sellers in market. Gari sellers do not terrorize us, fish sellers dont bring knife and stab people, if they do law will arrest and prosecute them. We expect that with cattle herders that machette and gun people down...they belong in jail, not at an executive meeting with you.

Good job MiddleBelt forum, PANDEF, Ohanaeze, Afenifere! This is awareness and we love it! Put macban in its rightful place, along with its patrons and sponsors! Shun them and do not honor them with any meeting or peace deal. No peace deal....you do the crime you face penalty, period!

There is no war here in Soutj, we do not need to be meeting on peace agreements. There is crime committed and all criminals must be treated under law with penalties. We cannot jail our criminals in South but negotiate peace deal with criminals from North. That will be self-destructive!

JOY ANIGBOGU

Lagos – The Southern and Middle Belt Forum leaders made up of Afenifere, pan Yoruba socio-cultural organization, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Igbo socio-cultural organization, Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF) and Middle Belt Forum have written to Gen Abdulsalami Abubakar, former head State, declining to participation in a roundtable on national issues and security which is scheduled to begin on Monday because of the inclusion of Miyetti Allah group and Gan Allah Fulani Development Association as participants.

The leaders had in joint letter sent to Abdulsalami Abubakar which was made available to Daily Independent on Sunday declined to participate in the roundtable scheduled to start on Monday, expressed their displeasure to participate in the meeting which was expected to have the leaders, Arewa Consultative Forum, Northern Elders Forum and service chiefs in attendance to discuss issues of security.

The leaders in the letter stated that it was shocked to have discovered that the meeting would include Miyetti Allah and Gan Allah Fulani Development Association. It said that it did not know the members of the Gan Allah Fulani Development Association and that lumping of Miyetti Allah ,a trade association for cattle herders whose members had been accused of various violations of human rights across the country sent worrying signal to them.

The letter reads, “Greetings to you from the leaders of Southern and Middle Belt Leaders Forum. We individually received your invitation to the event holding in Minna between 29th and 30th July ,2019. We thank you for your interest in the affairs of our country which made us to accept your invitation in good faith. It was in the thick of our preparations for the journey that details of the roundtable came to our attention.

Some aspect of which has necessitated this last minute communication. We observed that the roundtable will have in attendance all the National Security Heads ,Chief of Defence Staff and notable Nigerians. Underscoring the high level of the consultations. We however noticed further that in your category of Socio-cultural organisations invited ,you listed the following: PANDEF, Afenifere, Ohaneze Ndigbo, Middle Belt Forum, Arewa Consultative Forum, Northern Elder Forum. We were comfortable up to that point until we saw Gan Allah Fulani Development Association and Miyetti Allah.

“While we do not know the members of the first group, the lumping of Miyetti Allah, a trade association for cattle herders and whose members have been accused of various violations of rights across the country sends a worrying signal to us. It falls into the categorisation of our respected socio-cultural platforms with Miyetti Allah by Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu. We consider the above a grave insult on our bodies and our coming to a roundtable with the group would mean acquiescence to the narrative that put us in the same bracket with those wielding illegal AK-47 all over the country and inflicting terror on fellow citizens.

Even if the above was not the case with Miyetti Allah , bringing a trade group like them in the same vehicle with the nationalities organisations would not have been appropriate as there are organisations of their category for fishermen, farmers, spare parts dealers, and poultry owners among others across Nigeria who are not invited.

Towards this end, we decline participation in the roundtable as scheduled without prejudice to your peace-building effort which is appreciated. We equally regret any inconvenience our decision may cause you as we know the efforts that go into putting events such as this together. Be rest assured of our cooperation in all efforts and dialogues to make Nigeria peaceful, secure and forward-moving provided they are organised in a way that does not subtract from our dignity and value” it read.

The letter was signed by Chief Edwin Clark on behalf of PANDEF, chief Ayo Adebanjo for Afenifere, Dr. Nnia Nwodo for Ohaneze and Dr. Pogu Butrus for Middle Belt Forum.

GistTeller:
A house maid agent who specialized in assisting people to get maids with the motive of using them to abscond with money, jewelry and other valuables, has been arrested in Lagos.

Francis Okputu, 37, has been doing this since 2003. In May 2019, he planted one Joy Onoz and told her to steal from her boss. He also ordered her to help him get her boss’ picture.

The gold jewelry, he told Joy, would be replaced with copper and he would take the picture to a prophetess who would help him bewitch it and make the boss not to question any of the girl’s deed after stealing her things.

However, Joy quickly told her boss of the plans and they played along with his arrangement. The lady gave Joy some hard currencies, jewelry and her picture and told her to contact Francis.

The suspect, unknowingly, instructed Joy to meet him at Iyana-Ipaja to handover her loots to him and he was arrested. After his arrest, the decoy team of RRS visited some housemaid whom Francis had installed in different part of the State to question them.

Now, I have to speak on this one.

My grandma told me in the 50s and 60s Yorubas had confidence and trust in Calabar people than they did Ibos. This is not ethnic bashing, this is the truth.

Back then in the South Yoruba knew of only themselves, the Ishekiris, Binis and Isobos. They knew of Ijo as water people. We did not know any other group and classified everyone else as either omo Ibo or Kalaba.

We also knew back then that omo Ibo are the menial workers and low wage labourers in society. So jobs like porters (pushing wheel barrow, carrying load on head and ferrying goods) and anything requiring physical work in the field omo Ibo is one to do it. Their women work as maids and cleaners in the house. Kalaba women were hired as cooks and nannies because they were very good with caring and nursing.

From what Im told this was the practice with colonials. When omo Ibo arrived in Lagos he would be recruited into one of these positions reserved for their ethnic group.

Affluent Yorubas also used omoIbo as laborer in his house and yards. This was the practice in VI, Ikoyi, Apapa, Yaba.

As demand for laborer increased more Ibos poured in from East. Yorubas began noticing a trend. The Ibo gardners and yard laborer were offering their sisters for hire as cook and nannies for very low price and cutting the Kalaba girls out of market. Nobody knew it was an act.

My grandma said omo Ibo will plant a maid in your house for rwconnaisance to know what kind of valuables you have and where they were kept. Then one day when you come home you cant find your gardener, your nanny, your cook...they all have dissapeared. Along with them your valuables are also gone! Reports from Yaba, Apapa, Ikoyi were fitting same pattern. So Yoruba people kicked Ibos out of domestic service because they were not trustworthy with your valuables or children. This is how Yoruba trusted and till today have trust and confidence in a Calabar person.

If an indigene of Cross River or Akwa Ibom were to show up as a Presidential candidate you will see how Yoruba would rally behind him and support.

So Im not surprised at this new event and trend with omo Ibo planting house helps to use for reconn and rob people. Its their way, its their old practice reawakened.

Falomo shopping complex doesn't have escalator before it was demolished, City mall Onikan was the first build in Lagos they installed escalators, and that was 2008, there is no escator in Ibadan, Abeokute, Osogbo, Akure and Ado Ekiti, you lack common sense, they installed elevator in Modotel Enugu built by Sir Alex Ekwueme built after the civil war. There are escalators in Everyday Mall Owerri, Enugu mall, there are many elevators in many buildings across southeast.
The demolished Falomo SC was not the original. It was part of the complexes built under Adeniran Ogunsanya in the LEDB era. Its design was flawed due to heavy maintenance and was remodelled.

Politics › Re: X-raying Tinubu Chances Of Emerging Nigeria's President by MetaPhysical: 3:19pm On Jul 28, 2019
OP,
Very good analysis and balanced input. Your topic is provocative!

First, let me say Tinubu is a survivor. He is like Obasanjo. Both have encountered monumental obstacles in their political career that many others had died or withered trying to overcome. The two are very strategic in their approach to issues but also have blindsights. It is Obasanjo's blindsights, nore than any external threats, that stand in the way of his acknowledgement and acceptance as a national hero...great as the man is as a tactical strategist!

Whether he runs for the office himself or sponsors a candidate for the position the truth is, new events on the landscape, and at a higher political exchange, are reshaping the dynamics of APC.

The issue of insecurity is the primary challenge to APC. Regions that stood behind APC loyally are forced suddenly to regret their loyalty.

Political leaders in NW are frustrated with APC, particularly the Emirs in Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina.....and then Kano, are all in regrets, though for different reasons but it is all directed at APC. NW have seven states and it's only two that are terror-free (Kano and Jigawa), the remaining five - Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Katsina and Kaduna, are occupied by bandits and terrorists. Zamfara and Sokoto is particularly worse. They are afraid they might end up like NE. To secure these states will require bringing in military hardware. We all know what that would do....it will attract arms race and mercenaries will flock in. To dissipate militancy and pressure in their own zone the leaders in NW did not stop nor manage and control its spread and were unperturbed that bandits in NW were shipping South to Yorubaland. Pass the problem elsewhere so we can be spared!

In NC, their leaders are also regreting their loyalty to APC and even questioning their dependency and attachment to political North. Beside Niger State, all the states in NC, six of them are victims of fulani herdsmen and bandits. Not only do they question their loyalty to APC they regret also of their participation in civil war and errors of their leaders in 60s and betrayal of Joseph Tarka. This is monumental!

In SW....the votes for APC in 2019 were the margin of victory that put Buhari over Atiku. In 2023 we should expect Yoruba will dictate not only the outcome of APC primary but also that PDP will solicit SW and present a Yoruba candidate to knock out APC. This is a forecast only! There is no reason it should not come true and Tinubu or his surrogate become next President...except that, as I mentioned before, Tinubu suffers from blindsight, and though he is a survivor.....what lays ahead are not the kind of challenges he can survive. Yoruba is under attack and Tinubu is preaching nationalism. Whaatt!!!!!!!! Lol.

Ooni and Alaafin, Obasanjo and Soyinka. These four represent respectively the Priest-King, the Emperor, the General and the Scholar of Yoruba Commonwealth. When they stand on same side and say Nigeria must be restructured....for the moment you abandon your ideology and cross to where they are and stand with them....you dont tell them rebelliously to their face that Nigeria must be held together by all means.

Tinubu cannot hold Nigeria together by himself, not by APC alone. The Northerners he is hoping to ally with are not happy with APC....and then the only people he can count on to cross bridges and pave the way for him in 2023, he raised his voice in opposition to them. How is he going to win 2023 without Yoruba....even if all the current APC states back him or his candidate?

He must first ally with the Commonwealth so we can have confidence in him and put trust in him to correct the wrongs of past and bring the nation to equity and justice for all its sub nations and ethnic groups without exception.

We dont want another Obasanjo, Tinubu is behaving like one!

their greed for domination led the Igbo race into chaos and perpetual marginalisation!

today, they have reaped and are still reaping what they sow!

unknown to them that education is the key to domination and they have educated people then,
so the Igbo's just blow up their chance into oblivion!
People who had built Empires and societies over thousand years.... when they were told Nigeria would be their new Empire they were disgusted and frowned.....they rejected the thrash and said it is unbefitting, and they set about mastering a new modern society for them and generations to come. These were the Yorubas.

Those who had never been rulers of Empires nor built societies....they looked at Nigeria as the best possession and treasure anyone could ever dream of....and they got over themselves with zeal and rush to own it at all cost. They made it their goal to possess what 60years ago Yoruba saw and rejected as thrash. In their overzealousness they ruined everything, they invaded the modernity erected by Yorubas and ruined that as well. These were Ibos and Fulanis.

You ask yourself...is Nigeria not a thrashhuh

The best Lagos governor was a military man... Col. Marwa. Brigadier Mobolaji Johnson. Third Mainland Bridge was his idea. He built the first section of the bridge but could not complete before Gowon was toppled.

Bros there was no Igala treaty on capture of Ibo slaves. The Igbo were forest people and even at that they were independent in nature. Let us stop manipulating history for selfish interests. There was the Arochukwu Confederacy that was helped by the dreaded Ohafia warriors. They were the ones that sourced slaves and brought them to Bonny via Imo river and the creeks. They needed to go to the hinterland to continue the business hence they started migrating northward from Arochukwu that is why you have so many Aro settlements with Arondizuogu being the largest of the Aro settlements. The Aro were forced to surrender with the British who fought them in the war with the Aro. That was where the myth of Long Juju was formed
Ibo had never been independent in its history. Never!

What confederacies were under your so called independent nation and what was the Kingdom called?

Before you answer....take note that every piece of Africanland was Imperial. The Empires consisted of Kingdoms. The Kingdoms then ruled the Chiefdoms. There was not one piece of Africanland or a people of Africa that existed outside of this heirarchical structure.

What heirarchy and title was Iboland under?

Nigerians especially the shiites should not worry about the Terrorist tagged on them by Buhari's illegitimate govt. It was an act of DESPERATION having seen the growing influence of the shia movement in northern Nigeria.
The Sunni led govt of Buhari know very well that if they don't stop IMN, the shia movement will become a fomidable force that could lead to the collapse of fulani apathied rule in northern Nigeria. Unfortunately, it is too little to late. The Shia movement is not only growing, it has become a formidable force strong enough to topple centuries of Sunni fulani minority rule over hausa people.

The collapse of Fulani minority rule over a majority hausa population is not a matter of 'when' this time around. It is now a matter of time.
The fulani empire over Northern Nigeria is dead.
Very well said! Good contribution.

The litmus test for security is Zamfara, Katsina and Sokoto. If the President is incapable of solving terror in his own home state i dont know he can solve it for anyone else. North is the seat of terrorism in Nigeria.

That is not correct. If not high politics, they would have stormed those forests. Dont underestimate Gani Adams. You know he supported Jonathan, because of Buharis bigotry. Now, that the entire Yoruba race decided to queue behind Tinubu who feels that supporting a "sectional lidder" like Buhari is the best political strategy for the South west, Gani is left to act conciliatory. Have you heard of the Agbekoyas? If Buhari continues to use the Herdsmen to fight proxy Jihadi war, the Yorubas will have no option but fight back. I wish it wont be too late before they realize that they are no longer able to contain the swarms of highly trained, AK47 wielding Fulanis lurking in their forests.
We dont even need to go in the forest to defeat their purpose. The methods to accomplish it is already formulated.

Gani Adams has been cautious because a couple of years back OPC was almost sanctioned internationally. The UN Human Rights Group wrote to all the congresses of Western world and blacklisted OPC. They came short of accusing them of genocide. Then in 2012 they wiped out an entire fulani village in Kwara. When news filtered out the UN report was revisited and the OPC groups in that assault had to melt into thin air...they dissapeared from any known place period! If not they would have probably been rounded up and massacred. On the initial UNHR report Obasanjo, a Yoruba, was President and he never intervened to kill the international propaganda. Governors in SW neber spoke up and offered to take the issue for internal address. OPC was left alone to bear its own cross. Gani Adams remember this very well and is why he has been very very cautious in declaring an armed confrontation. I dont blame him....the Governors will not shelter them after the fact.

Northern leaders have been urged to stop referring to Middle Belt people as Northerners. National Publicity Secretary, Middle Belt Leaders Forum, Dr. Dogo Isuwa who gave the warning also asked former President Obasanjo not to relent in writing letters to President Muhammadu Buhari on key national issues and other matters that affect Nigeria. He described Obasanjo as a patriot who deserves commendation from Nigerians for having the courage to say the truth to those in authority. Isuwa also spoke on other national issues in this interview with TUNDE THOMAS.

What is the Middle Belt Forum’s reaction to reservations expressed by the Northern Elders Forum, NEF, to the regular meetings and the recent joint reactions to national issues by Southern leaders?

Yahaya Kwande and his leader, Prof. Ango Abdullahi who is the Northern Elders Forum President, are daydreaming. They are not only dreaming, they are suffering from illusion. Both men are still living in the past, and the earlier they face the reality, the better. The bitter truth which Ango Abdullahi and Kwande may find difficult to swallow is that the Middle Belt is no longer part of the North. It will be very unfortunate if both men have not come to this reality. For emphasis’ sake, and for further clarification, I’m using this medium to inform both men, and others who still reason along Ango Abdullahi and Kwande’s line that Middle Belt is not part of the North. NEF and its leaders should count the Middle Belt out of their so-called North.

If they are talking about the Middle Belt being located in the northern part of the country geographically, that is another thing, but aside that, we have no relationship again with the North Ango Abdullahi and Kwande are talking about. For us in the Middle Belt, we are an independent entity. Even during the colonial era, and years after colonial era when we were merged with the North, that arrangement never benefitted us. That arrangement was never to the best interests of the Middle Belt as the so-called North oppressed, and persecuted our people. Even up till today, that persecution has continued through killings of Middle Belt people in Zamfara, Benue, Plateau, Southern Kaduna, and Taraba states just to mention a few, and Ango Abdullahi, the Northern Elders Forum President has never spoken out against the killings of Middle-Belt people. And now, he and his NEF members are referring to Middle Belt as being part of their North. What an illusion.

The earlier Ango Abdullahi and his NEF members wake to the reality, the better, and the bitter truth I want to emphasise here again is that they should count the Mddle Belt out of their so-called North. The Middle-Belt is an entity on its own. Our link to the North was during the colonial era ,and few years after the nation’s independence. But we are no longer part of the North,we are now on our own. We don’t want any association with the North. We don’t need the North. I can understand Ango Abdullahi, and his NEF members, they need the Middle Belt because they are used to exploitation of our people. Northern leaders have always been depending on the Middle-Belt to achieve their selfish objectives, but we’ve now removed that yoke, and there is no going back on our decision to remain an independent entity with no link whatsoever with the North again. We don’t need the North.

Here is my advice and counter message to Isuwa's statement.

This is a front that the entire South need to support and speak as one voice on....thr issue of Middle Belt.

Let us begin to address Middle Belt and stop giving it any Northern reference going forward. Our joint voices will reinforce Isuwa's resolve and change mindset on the internet and social media. People know of North because Fulani always reinforce the 19 states as North. No one ever countered them. Now that a spokesperson in Middle Belt has passed this resolution to be separated from North and be an independent zone known as Middle Belt, let us support his voice. I call on SW, SS and SE to act along and stop accepting North as 19 states.

North henceforth is twelve states comsisting two zones -

Kebbi - NW
Sokoto - NW
Zamfara - NW
Katsina - NW
Kaduna - NW
Kano - NW
Jigawa - NW
Bauchi - NE
Gombe - NE
Yobe - NE
Borno - NE
Adamawa - NE

Middle Belt States are
Niger
Nassarawa
Plateau
Taraba
Benue
Kogi
