Lagos port was built by Colonial masters, not Yorubas, Lagos port became a major slave port in the late 1700s and into the 1850s. Much of the human trafficking which occurred there was nominally illegal, and records from this time and place are not comprehensive. According to the Trans-Atlantic Slave Voyage Database, 308,800 were sold across the Atlantic from Lagos in 1776–1850. British and French traders did a large share of this business until 1807, when they were replaced by Portuguese and Spanish. By 1826–1850 the British Royal Navy was intervening significantly with Lagos slave exports.
Lol.... ![]() We don hear. Focus on topic. |

Lets focus abeg. Dont tunlrn this to Lagos issue. The crux of the matter is, Ibo has no access to coast. Try anything and have Ijaw demolish your villages on the Abia border. |
Colonial masters built the port same as Port Harcourt port
Let me tell you that there was never a place called Enugu before Britain arrived. Never! The discovery of coal is what made Britain create Enugu. It was built as a mining town. They needed to get the coal to Liverpool and Manchester, the hub of their steam and steel industries. So they needed a port in East. This is why they built a port in PortHarcourt and a rail line to Enugu from there to get coal from mines to the ships and sail to England. See attach, this is from a Parliamentary Paper in London. They acknowledged the exiled King had a private "port" in Palma. When he returned from exile the colonial government took it over. Who built that port? Was Kosoko an Iboman....a developer ![]() ![]()
I asked for Port solely developed by state or any tribe in Nigeria that is functioning with FG, that's is the argument, and he is posting trash
I listed for you wharves that were built and operated successfully for cargo ahead of British seizing Lagos. Trade with Yoruba hinterland and up country to Hausaland were facilitated by Lagos wharves. Ijebus were the toll keepers on the rivers and no one dared trade with Lagos without first paying Ijebu. Egbas were the middlemen that break bulk at the ports and retail to the interior. Sea and trade monopolies is what led to wars between Ijebu and Egba. When Beecroft went to the palace his ship berthed at the Lagos wharf, from where he was taken to Palace. Activities of road and bridge expansion took away remnants of the landmarks. Lagos, Iddo and Palma wharves, independently built by Yoruba. British expanded Lagos wharf and then built Apapa port. Apapa port itself was a partnership. Anything and everything built or erected in Lagos by British was a partnership with the King and Chiefs of Lagos. The treaty of 1851 is explicit on this partnership. |
Adefatima:Dont mind him. He will enter trap now. |
Non of the ports was constructed by Lagos state or Yoruba people
Hahahahahaha... ![]() The colonialists in partnership with Lagos signed a treaty in 1861....and it was done aboard a ship. So if there were no ports or wharves, where did Beecroft and Bruce put their ship in 1861 when they invited Dosunmu aboard to sign treaty of Lagos? |

If you be me sef go be Lagos1stson. ![]() Dont provoke me to open Lagos history here abeg. There are things in Lagos you migrants dont know, and we dont want you to. Here is Iddo Wharf. In fact Lagos was nicknamed "Liverpool of West Africa". Can you see the wharf?
Which port in Lagos
Four of them There was Iddo wharf. This was where the Benin camp berthed when they sailed to Lagos. Pre Colonial rule. There was Lagos wharf and later port. Popularly called Quay side on Marina. Pre and during colonial. There was Palma port. Kosoko relocated trade with Portuguese from Lagos Wharf to Palma. There was Apapa port. During colonial. |
Great100000:Ok. This is stretching it. I leave now... |
Mention state that soly funded and develop the port in their domain in Nigeria and it's operational without FG dumb
Lagos state. |
adadike:I endorse this message. ![]() True word. |
kolaaderin:Politically, where is the boundary between North and South? Thats the first battle, and its not a battle for KWARA House of Assembly to fight. Its for National Assembly to redefine a political boundary for North and South. Redirect this request to NASS.... Kwara remain culturally Yoruba and geographically North pending redrawing of boundary. As far the deposition of the Emir. There is a court records already that defined his domain. That court ruling should be used by the House of Assembly to effect jurisdiction. No need to create new wheel. A legal record exists that says certain jurisdictions are not in the Emirate. |

NGpatriot:Part of Azikiwe's legacy. Two cranes and an empty warehouse. This is what he should have developed while in power. He was instead struggling with Awo over rights to develop Yorubaland. This Onitsha legacy will be inherited when Biafra becomes reality. Whenever that is.... |
Olu317:I agree with you absolutely! The political acceptance has been swinging back and forth depending on who is in power. The only fact that remains unchanged is the legal power. It has repeatedly been validated. In addition to oral history, written records accedes to it. Only the Emir in Ilorin is not conceeding. The anti Emirate group need to think outside the box. They can outsmart and legally depose the Emir. Muhammad Lawal attempted it and was very close to success but his own people right there in Ilorin who prefer identity with fulani did him in. Latinwo is no fulani, Saraki is no fulani, Fatahi is no fulani.....they only wish they were. The Emir readily identifies those who bend backward in their ambition to be more fulani than fulani, and they give them power to oppress the anti fulani. Yorubaland sustains Nigeria. When cut off North will shrink in power and influence. Even the Emir himself will be the first to dump his turban and ask Oyo for a crown. |
OP, abeg share the facebook link so we can validate your story. |
Levant:OP, You said he denied it on facebook. To prove, you gave the vanguard publication. You gave the nairaland thread. You asked who Yesufu is and gave link to his bio. You also gave a letter with the denial. You are missing the connecting link....where is the facebook link to the denial? Fact check is critical. |
Coneheads should continue deceiving themselves, that Igbo land is landlock
Aloy is deceiving you that you are not but there is nothing unique in his argument for Abia which does not also apply to Kebbi. He failed to present you uniquely. His attributes for your clearance is generic. |
festacman:The writer's grip to the sea is Imo river. Political expediency can rename the river tomorrow to a non-Ibo name. What are you going to grip then? |
gwafaeziokwu:Kanu negotiate with which center ![]() Who in center he go negotiate with, Buhari from Daura or Jubril from Sudan? |
CoS, a non statutory position, became a powerful office because Executives in statutory positions bow to worship it. I guess Ministers are next in line to send letter of devotion. After them traditional rulers will troop to Abuja and deliver their own devotion. Then clergies will follow. Guys, I stop calling myself Nigerian from now forward. Im Yoruba and African. It is a dishonor to be known as a Nigerian. |
