@mikkyangel, i dey feel u too. From your post i no say u don experience. If u do masters upon graduation u are eligible to apply for Permanent residence under Provincial Nominee. My brother try go Calgary, Regina (lowest unemployment rate in canada and its easier to get paper for this zone). I beg no come toronto, its too populated and work no dey tdat like that. Miss diluminati are u in Canada? If yes, where do u work. My advise has always been for everyone to really research before leaving Naija. I started this topic just to assist only Masters student cos I believe they possess more experience and are more matured.

@manweysabi, Memorial University is in Newfoundland, Sorry but nothing dey happen for there. Tuition cheap for there but when u grad just relocate to toronto or Calgary. Why did u go for Masters in Economics, you would have gone for MBA @ Ryerson University or MBA in Oil and Gas @ University of Calgary.

I guess that your masters program has no internship. doing a program without internship is not adviseable cos after graduation you would be stucked cos Canadian employers would say u have no Canadian experience, na this kind thing dey make masters students do yeye job just to survive. I dont wanna scare u, i am just a realist.

Good point. The person that asked this question said that he would like to g into Consulting. If one wants to go into consulting, MBA would be a better choice. If you want to get a PHD, Msc is better.

Before I advise you i would like to give u a synopsis of my resume. I have an MBA from University of Toronto. Currently working on my DBA (Doctor of Business Administration). For sure MBA holds more weight than an MSC. Msc is for people that are looking to get into Phd. Msc curriculum is more academic while MBA curriculum is more of real life case, case analysis and all that. For example while I was in the MBA program one of my exam was to consult for Bombadier, the company was trying to come up with AMHS and they wanted to know if it would make business sense to go ahead with this product of not. So, my colleagues and I prepared a report and presented to Bombardier's management team (What an interesting exam). Were as in the Msc program you would be doing term paper and all that.

In the MBA program you would take interesting courses like Negotiation, Advanced supply chain management, Strategy, Management Accounting, Business Law etc. For me I would advise that you go for the MBA and if u decide to further go can go for your DBA. If you decide to go for the MBA pleasego to a school in North America. Most companies prefer MBA to Msc, telling u from experience. If you want some more advise lemme know and we could talk outside this forum.

With an MBA you could get into the Phd program. However, over here you would have to get an A- (80 AND ABOVE) average to be able to get into the PHD. Consulting firms prefer MBA, if you want to get into the Leadership Development Program for top companies, they prefer MBA (I am in the program now and the requirement was MBA).

CONCLUSION
MBA would give you a better sense of Management.

The fact is that we are black. Anything that happens in the Black community is blown out of proportion. Go and see what Mexicans are doing and how they have messed up their country but are u hearing their name like that in the International Scene? How about America that is the number 1 consumer of Cocaine in the World, who is criticizing them for that? Nobody. So my fellow Nigerians our skin color has been downgraded within the International Community.

@readymade, PNP has different stream. Masters stream and PHD stream, for these 2 streams you do not need to show letter of employment. For the PNP, undergraduates students would have to show evidence of employment. So if you are doing your masters right now, in your last semester you are eligible to apply.

@ rowland i was a postgraduate student. I know that BC is good, if u are going to BC apply to the following: University of British columbia, Simon fraser University. These are the 2 very good schools in BC.
