THE Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has suspended talks with leaders of apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, Ohanaeze Ndigbo and South-East governors and revoked the ceasefire it announced after the first meeting it had with the leaders in Enugu.
These measures, according to IPOB Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, were taken ‘’following the inability of Ohaneze Ndigbo and South East governors to de-proscribe the activities of IPOB in line with the stated objectives of the Prof. Ben Nwabueze-convened peace initiative.’’
Therefore, ‘’the leadership of IPOB hereby suspends, with immediate effect, any future contact or participation in meetings involving Ohanaeze Ndigbo leadership or South East governors. The ceasefire announced as a gesture of goodwill after the first Enugu meeting is now officially revoked with no hope of future reinstatement,’’ he said in a statement, yesterday.
The statement read in part: ‘’Mindful of posterity and our deep respect for Prof. Nwabueze, who personally pleaded that we suspend all negative comments and verbal attacks against Ohanaeze Ndigbo, we duly obliged by announcing a binding cessation of all hostilities against corrupt Igbo leaders despite the fact they knowingly and actively connived with Fulani overlords to kill IPOB activists, invade the home of our leader with the intention to kill him out of petty jealousy over his popularity and acceptance by the people. That our leader and his parents are still missing is a direct consequence of the connivance of Igbo leaders with their Fulani masters to destroy the agitation for Biafra.
“IPOB towed this path of peaceful dialogue because of our deep respect for our more honourable and truthful elders, whose wise counsel compelled us to give peace a chance. If men are allowed to marry more than one woman without any social stigma attached, the problem is solved because then another fertile and willing woman will have the kids that the other one refuses to have for whatever reason. ‘EFCC Freezed Benue Govt Accounts Because Ortom Defected From APC’

Makurdi—The plot to frustrate Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State after his defection from the All Progressives Congress, APC, to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, took a dramatic turn yesterday following indication that the state government’s bank accounts have been frozen by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.
Vanguard gathered that the government accounts were frozen by the anti graft agency on the premise that the Governor’s security vote was being investigated.
According to a top official of the administration, the government’s accounts affected by the EFCC order includes those in Fidelity Bank, First Bank and GTB.
Speaking further, the official said: “The order would effected the payment of salaries and all of the state government’s financial obligations because these are accounts from where salaries and other Sunday payments are paid.
“We also gathered that the commission secured a valid court order which was presented to all the affected banks for necessary action but it is clearly a witch-hunt because Governor Ortom defected from the APC, that is Nigerian democracy for you.
“We are only urging Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to use his good offices to stop these spate of impunity from hell going on in our country because we are gradually descending to anarchy in Nigeria.
“When has it become an offence for anyone to defect to another party, for God’s sake? Is this the country and democracy we all gave our all and also lost loved one to achieve?,” he queried.
When contacted, the Chief Press Secretary, CPS to the Governor, Terver Akase, who confirmed the development simply said: “the agenda to shut down Benue State is thickening by the day.”
