the size of the pipe doesn't make much difference. The quality however makes all the difference. A 2mm 1½" pipe will last longer than 3" 1mm pipe

local rods are 18ft long and goes for less 4,000. While foreign rods are 9ft long and goes for about 4,500

Alright, thanks for clarifying, then the vertical members should be 14mm/16mm square pipe because the object is square/angular in shape.

this thing will be under the weather. It's best to use 14mm foreign wrought iron rod or 16mm local wrought iron rod.

As for the ornamental stuff, it's sold separately which is very expensive or a blacksmith can cast aluminum version on the said rod

I gave a welder to construct a sliding gate for me 2 weeks ago, he brought the gate today, and he said I will be the one to pay for the casting of the base where the gate will slide on. I thought the welder was supposed to do that as part of the gate installation. ?

no sir. Casting of the base is part of your fence building. However he's supposed to bring anchorage which will firmly hold the gate in place
