Igboho and his lawyers are not smart.. If he is repatriated to Nigeria, Buhari can't do anything to him than to put him in prison while his court case go on, within 6 months he would be granted bail and life goes on.

Should he decides to remain in Benin, FG would only pressurize Benin republic to enact their law about the fake documents Igboho used to obtain Benin Republic passport.. No way he won't spend 5 years in Benin prison.

Common sense shouldn't only be common in this case, it should always be available..
Poor analysis not based on facts. Igboho did not use any fake documents. At least I watched a live interview of his Prof Lawyer where he said he was caught with a Nigerian passport, was arrested because Nigeria has submitted his name to interpol. What exactly are you trying to say? Shut up so that the stealing by APC will continue? Yes,PDP may not be clean but at this point we need everyone to expose the monumental fraud going on under GMB administration. I know some PDP elected officers may also be stealing but objective should be to expose and make all thieves face justice irrespective of political party affiliations.

One day sometimes in 2023 or beyond, the atrocities perpetrated by GMB as president will also be a headline news. Let them continue to gag the press. A Government that campaigned using anticorrouption as part of it main manifesto should have put in place a process that would have prevented the type of Hadiza's fraud. How many more Hadizas are still in government?!

Wow!
History is good but regarding Lokoja I believe it is a lost cause if you have ever been there then you will know it is out of kabba province. Nupe is a cousin to the yorubas so her occupation of jebba north is also out but yorubas are at home there, if you have ever visited there you wont know the difference between jebba north and south.
The most confused ruler in Nigeria is the emir of Ilorin, he knows the town is out of his grasp apart from the title of Ilorin ruler, emir, there is no difference between oyo town and Ilorin town infact every institution in Ilorin has been 'yorubanized' with so much yoruba influence. Infact most Ilorin indigenes regard the ruler as 'oba'. Despite kwara being a multiethnic state with Ilorin her capital the lingua franca in Ilorin is yoruba.

The strategy yoruba elders used in Ilorin can be used in Nigeria, educate and make your citizens be aware of their history then can a true yoruba nation or i will rather call it yoruba region be fully achieved
We have history on our side as far as Lokoja is concerned. The Nupes know this fact. The influence of Ajayi Crowder in the development ofLokoja can't be over emphasized. He happen to be one of the few early set if educated Nigerians who could read and write and that's is the reason the Oworos werejust watching the Attah of Igalaland when he went for the kangaroo court judgement.
People knows where their land start and ended.
PoliticsRe: 2023: Osinbajo plotting to outwit Tinubu, take over from Buhari -Segun Bamgbose by middlebelter(m): 11:32am On Jul 10, 2021
This is rubbish. Isn't it obvious that Buhari does not want Tinubu to succeed him? what is the meaning of the body language of Daura man when he allowed Adams the son of Oshiomhole to be removed as APC chairman and surreptitiously support Obaseki to win? Is that not an indication that GMB is ready to betray Tinubu? How do we explain the actions of the current care taker committee? or the meaning of the statement that you can't seat in Lagos to decide rotation by GMB?

I believe Ashiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a very smart man and he will make a good political calculation this time around. In my opinion, it is better for him to support Prof Osinbajo if he ever intend to be more politically relevant for a long time in this country.

I want to thank the op for this educating thread. I perceive he is one of the few elders on this platform with a strong sense of history .

At this point I will like to call on Seun Osewa and his super mods to encourage Nairalanders to produce more threads on the political history of Nigeria. It should cover pre colonial, colonial era and the post independence political evolution of the geo-political matrix called Nigeria.

To some of us that are about 50years old or more, we have some knowledge of our political evolution perhaps not as detailed.

However, will like to disagree with the author of this write up on the Northern boundaries of Yoruba empire. He said it extends to about 40 km to Niger boundary. Sir, with due respect, the land in the present day Lokoja (the current Kogi state capital) belongs to the Oworo people of Kabba province. Indeed, the Oworos speaks a version of Yoruba in the the category of Okun Yoruba. However due military invasion of the Nupes from across the Niger and after the fall of Oyo Empire, traders that came from across the Niger to the trading points settle and has refused to relocate. The current traditional ruler in Lokoja perhaps have his root in Kano. Along the Niger shore to Jebba at one point or the other belongs to Yoruba. Due to political evolutions, today we have Jebba North and Jebba South. Jebba South of Niger is a pure Yoruba settlement although the emir of Ilorin, using the political manipulation of the state government wanted to change his title to Emir.

The Yoruba youths on this platform deserves to know . In the event of a major geo-political evolution in the future, where did Yoruba land ends?
This is important in the event for a need to defend the father's land and we all know that water has been a major boundary demarcator in history and geography. Major rivers like Niger can therefore not be ignored no matter the extent of political manipulations.

Bini and the shameful twist of History

Irohinoodua Editorial

June 21, 2021

In the past few years, the history of Yoruba people has witnessed a lot of changes and manipulations to the disadvantage of good conscience. The changes come not only in territory, but also in the conscious distortion of well known honour for parochial gains.

In this editorial, we reflect on the phantom theory fabricated to distort the history of Edo and her royalty and the implication for Yoruba grandeur in the commonwealth. One of the most disturbing in the dusty fume of lies is the new assumption that Oduduwa was a Benin Prince contrary to long standing history that is known to nature.

It thus mean the attempt to castrate the Yoruba ancestry is not only seen in the form of armed banditry of alien landfarers but also in the intellectual circle as seen in the new, festering position of the Edo royalty supported by some renegade scholars.

As the debate on the National Question assumes a major outpost in Nigeria, we chose on this page to revisit the Royalty question in Edo State in the midst of orchestrated gradual destruction of tested and trusted facts of history.

It all began with the late Oba of Benin Erediauwa Solomon Akenzua born on June 22 1923 and left the world graciously on June 22, 2016 and the 39th Oba of Bini with the title His Royal Majesty Omo n Oba Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa 1, who during his visit to Lagos, at a book launch declared that Oduduwa was a renegade prince of Benin. Since 1100 when Oranmiyan, the son of Oduduwa founded Bini, no Edo Oba has ever made such a categorically false statement. Unfortunately, the statement of the Oba has been seized by primordial forces who now claim such as the determinant bedrock of Edo royal past.

We point to realities that make such a claim totally untrue. The Benin Royalty did not dispute the fact that Oranmiyan is the son of Oduduwa. It did not dismiss the fact that Oranmiyan, purely a Yoruba name, is the founder of Bini Kingdom at least in the post Ogiso era. If Oduduwa was from Bini, where did he live for the several years he was on mother earth? Bini has no answer, only Ile-Ife provides the answer as his burial site remains at Ile-Ife till date. If Oduduwa came from Bini, how did he come to Ile-Ife to rule the Kingdom and not Benin city? It was and is still not possible for a King to leave his domain without traces of his offspring and we ask, who were the offspring left behind at Bini by Oduduwa? Bini has no answer, only Ile-Ife provides us with a logical, reasonable answer. We ask again, why were over 30 Bini Obas buried at Ile-Ife, why not in Bini City if that was actually the origin of Oduduwa?

The true story was that the then Ooni of Ife sent his son Oranmiyan to Igodomigodo on the request of the Bini people whose land at that time was troubled by internal strife. He first arrived at Use, and ruled Bini from Use. He eventually left Ile-Ife after which he named the territory Ibi-Ibinu a city of anger or “Land of Vexation”. Unfortunately, some Bini scholars are making futile attempts to link the name Bini to Portuguese influence. This is rather unfortunate and dishonest.

Oba of Bini, Godfrey Edokparhogbuyunmwun Aguobasimwin Eweka born on January 7, 1899 Lagos, Nigeria and died June 1978 never at any time said Oduduwa came from Bini. None of this fathers said so.

Fact: Oranmiyan had stopped at Egor where he married Erinmwide, daughter of the Enogie. Erinwinde gave birth to Eweka, being Oranmiyan’s only son left in Bini. Eweka eventually inherited the throne. His offspring formed the succeeding generation of Bini Obas. It is ridiculous that some royalty in Lagos claim the first Oba came from Bini, which is true, but they fail to admit the fact that Ashipa and Ado who ruled Lagos one after the other, the first of Lagos royalty, were chips off the same Oranmiyan. Oba of Lagos Oba, Ado who came from Bini ruled between 1630-1669, a clear indication he came from the stool established by Oranmiyan in Bini. This truth is often deliberately ignored by those who say Oba of Lagos is from Bini without mentioning his Oranmiyan lineage. This is unfair. Ado came in several years after Oranmiyan had established Bini Kingdom. The Awori could not have accepted Ashipa and Ado if not for the knowledge that both were linked to Oranmiyan, meaning that Lagos is nothing but an extension of the Oduduwa Empire. We hope at the fullness of time, history will take its proper place as against the divisive politics that has now been introduced to Bini history.

It is on record that Buhari truncated the second republics with a coup after Obj successfully handed over Government to another Fulani man in 1979. Since the return of democracy, your boss made several attempts to return to power and regrettably, he is in power now, What do we have maladministration, attempts to gag freedom of speech like he did during his military rule, all attempts to make him think like a 21st century leader has proved abortive, rather, he's bent on returning Nigeria to gazing route of the 1060's as against modern day ranching. Femi, what you need to know is that the man you are defending at the risk of your integrity has failed to use the appropriate instruments of coercion to enforce law and order in the North when his kinsmen were busy killing others in Benue, kidnapping in Niger, etc. So, GMB is a monumental failure, I mean the worst president that has ever emerged in Nigeria.

To think that 3 times Nigerians rejected this man through the ballot, only for him to come out and perform woefully beats my imagination. If you couldn't use force to stop your people fomenting trouble, while use same force on another region?
