I feel your pain, but know this the guy has no grudges with okun people, he was returning the south west yorubas favour.
Me personally, I believe any group has the right to identify with people of common ideology and culture

It is misplaced "favour". The fact is that perspective about the Yorubas is wrong. It is not impossible to see one or two exceptions with that type of mindset, to even on this platform, the truth is majority of Yorubas are accommodating and accept people with varies opinion and religion. It is just like saying the Igbos are proud and selfish just because of few people with such attribute from SE forgetting that some of the most hardworking and loving people are from SE.

He is just returning the yorubas favour. The yorubas always berate here that speaking a language, having the same culture and bearing same names doesn't make a particular group a member of a larger ethnicity if the group is not in their region

How is this argument of interest to the Okun Yorubas who are marginalised than any part of SE or SS? Look at the landmass of Okunland and compare to many states, infact it is twice the size of many. Interns of population, because of successive marginalization from various governments the citizens are spread into Kaduna, Kwara etc. Should anyone be offended that we call ourselves Yoruba or how has that changed the fact about us?

Zone them out of nigeria into Oduduwa.

People are talking of moving out of the current Federal arrangements, these ones are talking about moving into SW.

Mtcheew.

Why are you demonstrating classical insensitivity to other people's opinion. This to say the least is very rude and arrogant of you. The people have a right to determine what they want just like you have yours, for you now to descend to attacking people for their wish will only attract hatred to you and your group. They haven't ask you not to seek your own political arrangements.

It is provocative to think your opinion is superior to others, your inability to understand this simple fact about politics will always work against your larger interest some of us are crying everyday for more political power to your cause in SE only for you to turn to attack your friend's interest. It is clear from this man's comment that the North are saying , we determine who becomes president forgetting that, God rules in the affairs of men and that himself is not even sure of tomorrow. To the SW , I stand by your conviction. The Middlebelt will support you( at least majority).

It is also clear that some interest are against Amotekun because of their evil agenda. They started in Middlebelt and want to extend South. After SW it is SE in their agenda. Now is the time for South to unite. What Azikwe and Awolowo could not achieve can be possible if and only if we start the honest discussions about ourselves.

Stop mentioning middlebelt and be clear & straight forward wth ur surreptitious message. We have North-central, North-East and North-West and they formed Northern Nigeria. If u dnt like north migrate to the other side and leave everything behind for the North.
Politics is controlled by very few people who share a common goal of power control irrespective of their party affiliation but the poor masses are here thinking that religion will play any significant role for votes. Religion only play a role after a political calculation is done and that's when they'll start religious game where there expectation will give them narrow chance. That's when they'll start inciting people just like the way Mailafiya started and as done by many Northerners in 2015. If some people are so logical they shld knw that there is a power play, in a situation where by a Christian be given a lip service & vote Atiku against PMB and at different time a Muslim is made to vote OBJ against Falae and the same people after many years will come and tell u different things abt them. If u only know how this game is played and later the coaches from opposition enjoy the fruit of voters u would neva vote again
I really pity those thinking 100million kilometres away from real polit

grin grin grin I presume your don't know much about the area called middlebelt today. Geographically it is impossible to relocate land, yet if you place the four cardinal points at the centre of Nigeria, then a significant % of the Middlebelt which you choose to regard as North Central either belong to SW or SE. Culturally, you are probably aware that part of Kwara and Kogi are Yorubas and are only being forced to be part the of North against their wish.

You may help us to restructure Nigeria.

Are you just knowing this fact? They used the military. Even though the definition of that "North" is microscopic, yet we all know that office and occupants are decided by them. Sadly the middle belt and south are not United. This they know and are prepared to ensure that there's no unity in the south to the benefits of the real North.

The Middlebelt and South must unite against this oppressive constitution.

The problem is not muslems, the problem is the Church owners that have turned church to personal property/private businesses.......
I believe they all registered as none profitable organization but today the reverse is the case....

When you keep giving to one man that care-less about you while they claim ownership of all the money......it's an error...... church money are donations from the members for the betterment of the church (members) which in turn betters the society...... church donations is not for the GOs to build expensive schools and estates etc while the members (owners) can not access any of them...... that is poverty/slavery
this is the reason there's increase in poverty and crimes today.......

Meanwhile the CAMA law is for all related organization including Muslims/mosques so what's is the hullabaloo?

Let us use our common sense

Thank you for the explanation but you know that is not the main issue behind the rejection of the law.

If Churches invest in business like school, etc, the management should be separated from the Church's and adequate financial reports rendered. Christians have no issue with that. However, when it comes to management of the church's affairs, Government should have no hand in it. Government may make it impossible to have Mr & Mrs Church to prevent misappropriation of public funds, but crisis resolutions of all forms should reside within the body of Christ. Why can't a sincere Government have CAN set-up a monitoring body empowered by law to prevent misappropriation of funds and abuse of constitution of each denomination? Once you give that power to Government, one day a Muslim will encroach into the management of the Church and vice versa. This may lead to war that is not part of the intention of the law.

Are the Christians that wicked?
All the excesses by most of your religious leaders can not be regulated by CAN caused it.....
What is bad in the CAMA? are churches not registered as NGO?

You know you are not sincere. To think an average Northern Muslim in Nigeria will be part of people regulating a Christian Church in Nigeria with the hatered they been displaying is inconceivable. I sincerely pray we don't have to be pushed by GMB to that point.

Former CAN PRESIDENT, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor was caught in South Africa with almost 10 million dollars in his private Jet not up to a decade ago. Though he claimed the money was meant for the purchase of arms for the Nigerian State, it is enough evidence that millions of dollars which are unrelated to the duties of churches and mosques ,as stipulated in their articles of assoiciation and constitutions, are dumped with these religious leaders for businesses they would have no duty with in an organized country.

Let's leave the issue of Churches since there are evidence of their money laundering schemes for public officials. The United States of America which leads the global fight against terrorism have opined that for a successful resistance against Islamic extremism and terrorism to be achieved, regimes in every continent of this planet must monitor finances and prevent terrorism sponsorship. To fight a monster, it is pertinent to target its head not tail. When there are no funds to propagate the terrorist ideology to the most rural enclaves or pay fighters to cause havoc, the enemies of this country will be subdued.

The board of the Corporate Affairs Commission are well represented both on tribal and religious lines. This law does not in anyway specify churches. It literally states "NGOs and Religious bodies."

This means if IRAN sends funds to Shite Muslims in Nigeria for any purpose but officially says it is for building of Mosques , roads construction or building of a world class hospital, the Government of Nigeria will ensure that the funds are used for those purposes and no money is channeled for arms purchase. If SAUDI ARABIA sends funds to an Islamic Humanitarian Organization in Yobe or Zamfara, this bill will give the Corporate Affairs Commission authority to demand annual bank statements of these Organizations and trace the expenditure of their funds.

Remember, it's a legislation and will remain same even when a Christian PRESIDENT is elected. Similar legislations have been enacted in most developed nations. Only those who negate the concept of accountability will be irritated by this relevant amendment.

You must recognize that there's mutual suspicion between Muslim and Christians in this country. A sensitive government that value peace without ulterior motive will cleverly avoid such controversial law. Secondly you mentioned former CAN president being caught with dollars in South Africa, that is again mischievous. By now we understand better the incident you are referring to, procurement of arms in black market which the agents of politicians used to score cheap political points against the ruling government of PDP . Strong opposition to sale of as to Nigeria by Obama lead government after predicting Nigeria will disintegrate by 2015 due to his hatered for Nigeria for not embracing same sex marriage. Remember a strong Nigerian clergy if Anglican Communion lead a global opposition to Obama using the church platform.

It baffles me how Muslims are quick to criticize leadership of Christians but will not tolerate same for their leaders and religion. To think that the behind the curtain passage and signing or CAMA was done by a president that has failed to sign the PIB act is counfunding . What happened to adequate consultation with stakeholders?Does he think we are still under military regime? Who is trying to benefit from distabilising Nigeria?

The loyalty of Mr President to Nigeria as an entity is being put to test once again, I hope he will choose a stable Nigeria to a divided country with strive?

Keep quiet. There are a million and one glaring contradictions in the Bible. The op was obviously wrong in his interpretation of the thou shall not murder verse (the only part you rushed to address) since it's obvious the bloodthirsty biblical god never meant that in absolute terms.
This is just an example of how xtians talk out of both sides of their mouth, because on a normal day you guys love quoting the "thou shall not kill" veras an example on how God is against killing in all its forms.[/quotecan

I am not fighting you and I can't but I have the responsibility to explain the fact that Bible is not contradictory.Depending on who your master is, I get the interpretation you deserve.

If you can attack the God of the Bible, who am I to say you should not insult me? I am sure you may wish to kill me if you have you have your way.

You are indeed an occasional reader of the scripture. The Holy Bible is a spiritual book and you only understand some aspects with the type of mindset with which you approach it. If you read with the mind to find faults or contradictions like you have done, the devil that doesn't want you to benefit from reading will load you with thousands of confusion. But if you, one on one with your maker ask God to lead you to the truth about the scriptures on the bottom of your heart, God will never fail to lead you to understanding of the truth.

Remember the same lawyer can twist the same section of law to mean different things to you depending on your understanding of the law, in the same vein, the devil is always ready to lead many without the spirit of God into more confusion especially when their objectives are sinister.

I therefore counsel you, the Holy Bible is not contradictory as you are trying to mislead people, scripture is used to explain the scriptures. If God says thou shall not commit murder and at another point say take your sword and execute judgement on your brother that have committed sin,. Is it not applicable even today? Government says don't commit murder, of you do the arms of the law will catch up with you, however the same government allows soldiers to kill insurgents and bandits that are citizens of this country. Can you see the need for orderliness here?
Please stop misleading people about the scripture, it is a dangerous thing to do. Search him with all your heart in your room all alone, he will manifest if you do.

The same law Nigerian President has just introduced, but the GOs and CAN are kicking.

The British introduced the Christianity to us, can we be more catholic than the pope?
There was a time Pastor David Oyedepo had issue with the British Government and was banned from entering the kingdom, why was he not cursing them like he does to nigerian government?

This is just the judgment on MFM, Matthew Ashimolowo’s KICC fraudulent acts and the judgement is on the way. There are more evidences against him being uncovered daily.

Why would Churches be used for fraud?
If the churches have clean hands, they need not being worried.

While the UK can perhaps trust it's government for transparency can the same be said of ours. How can the same government that is incapable of managing the economy now be supervising the church? Whenever there is fraud, it shouldn't be covered but to now ask a Government that is not neutral to supervise the affairs of the church of God is to invite further crisis.

As at today we know that both civilians and military are fragmented in their view on this matter. How then will government enforce a sensitive matter of this nature without inviting war? We can certainly do without this law, it is not what will take us to the state of utopia
Nairaland / General / Re: Oyedepo’s Unholy Anger Over CAMA And Nigeria’s Karma by middlebelter(m): 5:43pm On Aug 20, 2020
@Fredrick Nwabufo your position on Bishop Oyedepo's opposition to the new CAMA law is one sided. The truth is that when the Church have a venture, it can be subjected to public scrutiny, you in fact gave example of UK where MFM and Covenant Churches were investigated by Government. Now, Nigeria is unique and not UK and not all the thing in UK are good anyway.

The aspect that is giving us most worry as Christians is not about the Finance anyway but about the way it will empower government to meddle in the running of the Church. How do we explain a situation where a Muslim President like GMB appointing a Muslim Minister to supervise the affairs of the Church and vice-versa? Are we unaware of the extent of religious intolerance in this country or how did we come about the Boko Haram Crisis that has ravaged us this many years without solution?

The unfortunate thing about this country is that we have so many people pretending to be what they are not. One thing we know this law will breed is, CRISIS. Yes, because Muslims will never allow Christians to supervise the affairs of their mosque neither will Christians accept same. There is mutual suspicion even among different denominations/sect not to talk about entire different religions. Forget about the political deceit that says we are serving the same God.

My candid opinion is that Mr. President should revert this obnoxious law and expunge the aspect that has to do with religious organization because we are unlikely to be able to manage the crisis it is capable of generating.

At least you can still criticise the civilian government and talk about their corruption freely, under military, they will be looting us dry and you can't make a loud public complaint about it without getting Hani Fawehinmi's treatment.
Please let's not desire the return of military, they are absolutely worse than civilian, in corruption, highhandedness and nepotism.

If you don't understand, check what IBB and Abacha did to Nigeria. Today we have more LGA area in each of Jigawa state and Kano than Lagos why Lagos'LGA hasn't changed over the years because that's the way Abacha wanted it. 22 years after his death, we are still recovering part of his stolen money, yet some were hoping him, calling him the best president while he was looting us dry. To now think that under such environment of mutual suspicion, a Muslim president will have to appoint a Minister and DG of CAC that will now regulate the activities of Churches that he never share their beliefs is dangerous.Worst still, Mr President will likely appoint a Muslim or one political stooge to execute his desire is counter productive.
