selemempe: @selemempe Something is foundsmentslly wrong with your mindset. I discuss issues here and avoid childish antagonist like you. Check my moniker, I am from the Geographical Meddbelt of Nigeria and I love Igbos However, I avoid people like you that are haters of other tribes. You have no idea about what you are missing carrying hatred about. When it comes to issues affecting us as a country, the day we stop blind hatred and learn to resolve issues objectively is the day the healing of our country will start. |
Politics / Re: Buhari Reacts To Niger Delta Avengers’ Threat To Shutdown Oil Production by middlebelter(m): 9:41pm On Jun 27, 2021 |
I have always believed that when Niger Delta agitators start their threat, GMB will not take it for granted and this has been proved by this reaction. All the South need to do now is to hid behind the Niger Delta agitators to strengthen the demand for restructuring and true fiscal federalism. 3 Likes |
Nairaland / General / Re: Bini And The Shameful Twist Of History by middlebelter(m): 5:21pm On Jun 21, 2021 |
For the benefits of those who can't go to the link provided. Note: I am not the author of this thread. Bini and the shameful twist of History Irohinoodua Editorial June 21, 2021 In the past few years, the history of Yoruba people has witnessed a lot of changes and manipulations to the disadvantage of good conscience. The changes come not only in territory, but also in the conscious distortion of well known honour for parochial gains. In this editorial, we reflect on the phantom theory fabricated to distort the history of Edo and her royalty and the implication for Yoruba grandeur in the commonwealth. One of the most disturbing in the dusty fume of lies is the new assumption that Oduduwa was a Benin Prince contrary to long standing history that is known to nature. It thus mean the attempt to castrate the Yoruba ancestry is not only seen in the form of armed banditry of alien landfarers but also in the intellectual circle as seen in the new, festering position of the Edo royalty supported by some renegade scholars. As the debate on the National Question assumes a major outpost in Nigeria, we chose on this page to revisit the Royalty question in Edo State in the midst of orchestrated gradual destruction of tested and trusted facts of history. It all began with the late Oba of Benin Erediauwa Solomon Akenzua born on June 22 1923 and left the world graciously on June 22, 2016 and the 39th Oba of Bini with the title His Royal Majesty Omo n Oba Edo Uku Akpolokpolo Erediauwa 1, who during his visit to Lagos, at a book launch declared that Oduduwa was a renegade prince of Benin. Since 1100 when Oranmiyan, the son of Oduduwa founded Bini, no Edo Oba has ever made such a categorically false statement. Unfortunately, the statement of the Oba has been seized by primordial forces who now claim such as the determinant bedrock of Edo royal past. We point to realities that make such a claim totally untrue. The Benin Royalty did not dispute the fact that Oranmiyan is the son of Oduduwa. It did not dismiss the fact that Oranmiyan, purely a Yoruba name, is the founder of Bini Kingdom at least in the post Ogiso era. If Oduduwa was from Bini, where did he live for the several years he was on mother earth? Bini has no answer, only Ile-Ife provides the answer as his burial site remains at Ile-Ife till date. If Oduduwa came from Bini, how did he come to Ile-Ife to rule the Kingdom and not Benin city? It was and is still not possible for a King to leave his domain without traces of his offspring and we ask, who were the offspring left behind at Bini by Oduduwa? Bini has no answer, only Ile-Ife provides us with a logical, reasonable answer. We ask again, why were over 30 Bini Obas buried at Ile-Ife, why not in Bini City if that was actually the origin of Oduduwa? The true story was that the then Ooni of Ife sent his son Oranmiyan to Igodomigodo on the request of the Bini people whose land at that time was troubled by internal strife. He first arrived at Use, and ruled Bini from Use. He eventually left Ile-Ife after which he named the territory Ibi-Ibinu a city of anger or “Land of Vexation”. Unfortunately, some Bini scholars are making futile attempts to link the name Bini to Portuguese influence. This is rather unfortunate and dishonest. Oba of Bini, Godfrey Edokparhogbuyunmwun Aguobasimwin Eweka born on January 7, 1899 Lagos, Nigeria and died June 1978 never at any time said Oduduwa came from Bini. None of this fathers said so. Fact: Oranmiyan had stopped at Egor where he married Erinmwide, daughter of the Enogie. Erinwinde gave birth to Eweka, being Oranmiyan’s only son left in Bini. Eweka eventually inherited the throne. His offspring formed the succeeding generation of Bini Obas. It is ridiculous that some royalty in Lagos claim the first Oba came from Bini, which is true, but they fail to admit the fact that Ashipa and Ado who ruled Lagos one after the other, the first of Lagos royalty, were chips off the same Oranmiyan. Oba of Lagos Oba, Ado who came from Bini ruled between 1630-1669, a clear indication he came from the stool established by Oranmiyan in Bini. This truth is often deliberately ignored by those who say Oba of Lagos is from Bini without mentioning his Oranmiyan lineage. This is unfair. Ado came in several years after Oranmiyan had established Bini Kingdom. The Awori could not have accepted Ashipa and Ado if not for the knowledge that both were linked to Oranmiyan, meaning that Lagos is nothing but an extension of the Oduduwa Empire. We hope at the fullness of time, history will take its proper place as against the divisive politics that has now been introduced to Bini history. |

adenigga: Femi Adesina you are missing it. Now I am convinced you are one of the people misleading the man GMB. It is on record that Buhari truncated the second republics with a coup after Obj successfully handed over Government to another Fulani man in 1979. Since the return of democracy, your boss made several attempts to return to power and regrettably, he is in power now, What do we have maladministration, attempts to gag freedom of speech like he did during his military rule, all attempts to make him think like a 21st century leader has proved abortive, rather, he's bent on returning Nigeria to gazing route of the 1060's as against modern day ranching. A system that may not only truncate the 3rd or 4th republics but can degenerate to war. When a leader refuses to listen to advice, he is failure bound, 1 Like |

selemempe: Why bring Yoruba to this matter. The day the average Igbo man stops seeing a Yoruba man as an enemy or threat that's the day Nigeria will be best. Here's is someone that made a comment from the SS based on his opinion about Igbo, what you should do is to alley the fear rather you attached the Yorubas. It is best to choose your fight wisely. Don't start seeing everyone as enemy( including your frineds and allied). Is there any region outside Igboland that is as accommodating to the Igbos in this country today as in Yorubaland? |

Politics / Re: Femi Adesina: Nigeria Needs A Leader With Iron And Steel by middlebelter(m): 1:23pm On Jun 04, 2021 |
Femi, what you need to know is that the man you are defending at the risk of your integrity has failed to use the appropriate instruments of coercion to enforce law and order in the North when his kinsmen were busy killing others in Benue, kidnapping in Niger, etc. So, GMB is a monumental failure, I mean the worst president that has ever emerged in Nigeria. To think that 3 times Nigerians rejected this man through the ballot, only for him to come out and perform woefully beats my imagination. If you couldn't use force to stop your people fomenting trouble, while use same force on another region? |

Yahaya Bello used Aisha Buhari,GMB,Oyegun and Dino to emerge as Kogi Governor only to emerge as the worst Governor in terms of performance in Nigeria today. Kogi is now the ridicule of all in this country, including Chris Ngige of all people while making attempts to mock Faleke. The truth is that we must all pray fervently not to have a president like Yahaya Bello in Nigeria. If it happened, Nigeria will start to see Buhari as a saint as we are seeing GEJ now. This is my worry. I can't understand what is giving him that boldness after his abysmal performance in Kogi state. 1 Like |

Isn't it obvious that we have more enemies in Aso Rock than the Fulanis in our forest killing our helpless citizens? How do we explain this type of treatment to a Governor of a state. To say Mr. President is complicit in my opinion is an understatement. If not why can't he change the cruel set of homosaipens working with him and replace them with people that have a strong sense of human feeling and urgency?! If the Benue Governor is not complaining, it will be Niger state, Bornu or Enugu and the list continue. I watched the video of a motion moved by Senator Smart Adeyemi of Kogi West yesterday and I laughed. The people in the Red and Green Chambers want us to take them seriously they are representing us?! .Start an impeachment proceeding and be serious with it. If it will lead to fracas in the National Assembly, then let the correction of the errors in this country start from there. |
