CrimeSeries Of Bomb Explosion In The South West - Coincidence? by middlebelter(op): 12:32pm On Mar 30, 2020
Although the attention of majority of Nigerians and by extension mankind is on Covid-19, but we must not take for granted matters of serious security importance that are capable of wrecking much havoc as the pandemic.
It started with Okeisha Old Secretariat area of Ekiti State in Ado-Ekiti, then Lagos pipe line accident /explosion and now Owo road in Akure all of them within a space of less than 3 months with unconvincing explanation of the actual causes and damages that are monumental.
It will amount to asking too much if we tell Mr President to address the Nation on this issues, indeed his political followers may start calling you names, but if the people in South West fails to ask questions and demand adequate investigation and feedback on this matter we may be sleeping under a house with burning roof.

Why am I curious? The display of rejection of Amotekun by Myeti Allah group notwithstanding the security implications of allowing the Cattle Herdsmen to ravage the farmlands of the subsistence farmers tells me there is an agenda I may be wrong but we can't ere on the side of caution.

I therefore call on all the social cultural organisations in SW to engage the Nigeria Police on a thorough investigations of the trend in bomb blast /explosions until a satisfactory report is produced.

Thank you for the insult, I appeal to you to do a cost/benefit analysis of not shutdown then you will agree that there is wisdom in shutting down. As I respond to your insult, UK has just taking the decision to shut down for three weeks after loosing many souls to the dreaded pandemic. There progress assessment shows that if they didn't shutdown the loss of lives and properties will not only continue but their economy will continue to plug down into recession.

I wonder why it took the FGN 22 solid days to see what I saw on March 2 that made me open this thread. A total luckdown of the social system with the exception of the essential services required to combat the pandemic is the sacrifice this Covi-19 is demanding.

I knew the likes of Atiku Abubakar's son are many in this country and will never faithfully self isolate. Now only God knows how far the wicked guy has spread the merciless virus.A governor is self quarantined because of his indiscretion. If I feel disappointed in Atiku's son what about the Nairaland Moderators that did not see the reason to hyelp us drum the need for total shutdown to prevent monumental loss? The fact is the FGN must also direct all the nonne essential private sector firms to shutdown. 14 days shutdown will not kill us. it will be cheaper than been confronted with full- blown Covid-19 outbreak that we are not in anyway prepared to fight. Yes, we are not prepared. We don't have the financial resources, we don't have adequate manpower, we don\'t have the tools to fight and do you know what? The Western countries have their own battle with Coronavirus and will not be available to offer any aid.

We you close schools and tell teachers to keep reporting for work, it doesn't work that way. The Nigerian Stock Exchange is still opearting the trading floor with more than 50 traders on daily bases and nobody id=s telling the DG to shutdown the floor and enforce strict remote trading. It looks as if we did not know the enormity of the issue we have in our hands.

Madam, I agree with you. Please tell GMB to kindly make the declaration. 14 days sacrifice may save thousands of lives in Nigeria. We have no resources to handle outbreak. Madam please tell the president to direct private sector to also shutdown except their services or products are essential services needed to support the fight against the pandemic.

Mr Governor should te Nigerian Stock Exchange and all Capital Trading Points in Lagos to either shut down or be restricted to remote trading from their offices.

Also in as much as majority of the private sector and Federal Staff are still moving around going for work in Lagos, we are NOT serious about curtailing the monster.
Close your eye and shut down all none essential business for 14 days. The financial loss will not be as monumental as not shutting down. I pray they listen.

Is the Federal Government aware that this money is not for Government? The money belongs to RSA holders. FGN might have being paying for FG staff but as soon the money has been credited into the RSA of the various beneficiaries, it ceases to be FG money. There is no law that empowers Government to take what does not belong to her and it without the permission of the owners.

Perhaps there are things I don't understand about this plan anyway.

I wish LASG come down heavily on such people contravening and law. They should be made to pay huge penalties. This is because if their actions leads to the spread of the pandemic, the consequences may not only cost huge sums of money but lives.

Let them be, Coronavirus has not respect for political class. I fact it appears Covid-19 has penchant for big men. Many parliamentary members have been infested in Iran, the wife of the Canada Prime Minister has been infected while the husband is on self quarantine.
Key words is obedience to safety precautions, avoiding crowds etc. If they choose to test the strength of Covid-19, the consequences of their indiscretions will be on their heads.

Why are we not hearing any update on contact tracing by the Government of Oyo state where the American spent two solid weeks? I don't want to believe they are gambling with our collective destiny in that state.
What has happened to Lai Mohammed, Ministry of Information, National Orientation Agency etc. Except for the efforts being made by LASG (the Health Commissioner in particular) and the Minister of Health, it appears other Government Agencies at all levels are silent on this Pandemic? All LGA, States and their agencies should he involved in enlightenment campaign.
I am also calling on Seun Osewa but give prominence to threads on Covid-19 and to prevent and treat it.
HealthRe: Self Quarantine Is Wrong, Make It Mandatory And Enforce It- Coronavirus by middlebelter(op): 12:05pm On Mar 18, 2020
@SeunOsewa I can't understand why your Super Mods will see a topic that is as important as the above and ignore pushing it to a the point where it will garner more awareness. Although the FGN a few minutes ago has imposed travel ban from countries where the pandemic, Covid-19 is pronounced but I feel we should acted from the beginning of March. USA, UK etc would have given us more respect if we have acted by placing a ban on them before they start banning others.
In addition to the recent travel advice to Nigerians and banning of flight into Nigeria, the FGN should go ahead to stop public gathering in religious places if necessary or at best dictates minimum contact levels in such gatherings. Saudi Arabia I heard has stopped praying in Mosques, Church of England has stopped Public Worship etc. Must we wait to be under severe pressure before we act?

Hon Tajudeen Yusuf of Kabba/Bunu? Ijumu constituency in House of Representative, appeared on Seun Okinbaloye Channel TV Programme last night and he said that China has spent over $70B fighting the pandemic Covid-19. Now our entire external reserve in currently below $36b, our 2020 budget is around $25b, God forbid if Nigeria should be confronted with this monster, with the entire global community fighting their individual survival, where are we going to get the resources to fight the pandemic? @Seun Osewa, we need to use this platform to play your own part in galvanising this issue.

Does anyone wonder while Mr President will not go to UK for medical check up now? why are the politicians suddenly unwilling to travel? The instinct for survival is stronger than any other instinct. The crisis been inflicted on mankind by reason of this virus is much more serious than any war in recent time.Businesses are closing down, economies are shrinking and a global recession is imminent. Nairaland can help divert attentions to necessary safety precautions that can prevent the spread of the virus, how to stockpile food at home in the event of a need to be self quarantined, what the various levels of government should be doing, ( for instance it appears the LGA and State Governments are less concerned, with the exception of Lagos and Ogun State.),

We sincerely pray it will not get to the level of closing all public institutions like Schools, Churches and Mosques etc , but we are aware the current NYSC orientation has been closed, but they shouldn't have allowed them to proceed to camp in the first place. Is the government doing enough. My verdict is No! They are trying but we certainly have a golden opportunity now to prevent the spread by spending as much as we can, because we have no resources and capacity to manage its spread. Nairaland should stand up and be counted by helping to bring this issue to the burner.

FamilyRe: Living With My Aunt Who Is A Pastor's Wife Is Hell. Should I Run Away? by middlebelter(m): 10:06am On Mar 12, 2020
Oluwatunmise529:
Hi people

I live with my aunt who is a pastor's wife. I got there four months ago due to the fact that my dad had some problems then.

But the first day I got to my aunt's place, I got the shock of my life. The house was totally dirty, even the sink in kitchen was removing maggots. She told me to clean and wash everything but being my first time with her. I told her I can't do them. Then she said she would slap me if I don't do her wish. I ended up doing them and since then am being used like a slave.

When I told my dad about everything.. She told my dad I need home training that I can't do anything and my dad told me to stay since he doesn't want it to cause a rift between them.

My aunt am talking about is an elder sister to my late mom but the same father and different mothers. There was a day she told me my grandmother was a witch and she killed one of her children before she died and she uses my witch grandmom to describe me to people in the neighborhood. I always feel ashamed.

She has a daughter who doesn't cook and clean or do anything... I end up doing everything and still it isn't enough, at the end of the day she tells me am lazy... Am always afraid to look when I pass by a mirror because I always look so dirty and haggard. Just yesterday rain fell here and she left some things outside. I ran outside to take those things inside and the next thing she did was rain insults on me because of that..

She has never raised her hands on me but only maltreat me.. I cried myself to sleep..I was always a jovial person before but now am always crying and moody and am beginning to hate her.

I don't laugh at all anymore even at funny things.. I only have hatred for her and her family...I don't want to hate anyone and I want to go back home and be myself again....am planning to run away now but am really scared of the outcome...
Worst is everyone thinks she is a good person because she is a pastor wife....

Am so fed up and always unhappy... Someone pls help me
It is unfortunate that you are a victim of family circumstances. You acn however turn the story around and make the best out of it. First start praying fervently for God to lead you and intervene immediately. One God can touch her heart if it His wish for you to stay there or God can visit your father with blessings that will require you to go back home.
You perhaps need to tell your father that you wish to return home before the situation becomes unmanageable.

Now that a second case of Covid-19has been confirmed by the Minister of Health, I hope Nigerian will see the wisdom in calling on FGN and her agencies responsible for screening of immigrants to be very stringent in the screening process by compelling quarantine instead of telling immigrants to observe it on their own. I repeat it is dangerous. Some May be so wicked and want to spread it while other may just be. Careless.
HealthSelf Quarantine Is Wrong, Make It Mandatory And Enforce It- Coronavirus by middlebelter(op): 11:16am On Mar 02, 2020
I watched the press conference grated by the Honourable Minister of Health in company of his Minister of State for Health and top Ministry officers on NTA a few minutes ago.

As a Nigerian ,I will like to appeal to every well meaning Nigerian to prevent the second level mistake by our leaders. The Minister said anybody coming into the country from any of the countries that has reported infection of Covid-19 should self- quarantine for about 14 days and be sure they are not sick before going out.

This is completely unacceptable and the people behind this weak policy should be scolded. Why are they gambling with a matter of serious public importance? Are they aware this same virus has killed noted public figures in Iran? Why should the government choose to trust the people coming into the country to self quarantine? Why put our collective safety in jeopardy? Can't they make a public policy and back it up with the necessary legislation to make it legitimate that; anyone coming into this country from any of the infected countries or travel history to infected country between December 2019 and todate will be automatically quarantined by Government of Nigeria. Therefore if you are not willing or ready to be quarantined, don't come to Nigeria for now. You can be sure Nigerian travelling out of this country will receive treatment of travellers fro Covid-19 infected countries anywhere they go.

The cost of prevention is much more cheaper than cost of treatment. We should not gamble with anything that has massive destructive capacity as Covid-19. Compel them to be quarantine. Some that are aware they have contacted the deadly virus may be so wicked that spreading the virus may be their priority. Indeed, it is not too much to ban direct flight from affected countries to Nigeria in the interim

I am Tolu Ayomide, a 300 level student of mass communication in Crawford university Igbesa and I want to strongly advice anyone considering coming to Crawford university in igbesa to stop!! Don’t even think of applying not to talk of coming to Crawford university. The facilities are the school are completely ancient and rusty, In the real sense of it the school can be described as a total village, the staff are totally incompetent and our vice chancellor Prof. Isaac Rotimi is very wicked and greedy, he takes the view of the student with total levity, don’t even talk about student union in this school because they are puppets in the hands of the vice chancellor who rules the school like a dictator. If you desire to acquire a university degree in a convenient environment free from clamp down on human rights, don’t dare come to Crawford university.
I am a 300L student and I can tell you from experience that we are occasionally mandated to kneel down and harassed by students on a daily basis, the school is not honest in their dealings with students, they usually seek every available opportunity to extort students of money that has been hard earned by our parents. The cafeteria staff are nothing to write home about, they are constantly rude to students despite the fact that we are paying for their service. Most of the money the school earns is directed towards providing maximum comfort to the school’s management who would stop at nothing to live in luxury, a testament to this is the multimillion naira Mercedes Benz suv that is owned by our vice chancellor, this is despite the fact that many of our laboratories lack adequate equipment’s.
Our hostels are a mess, I can’t take pictures and post here because of how graphic they are but believe me when I tell you that you don’t want to come to this school. IF YOU LOVE YOURSELF, DON’T, I REPEAT DON’T COME TO CRAWFORD UNIVERSITY IN IGEBSA. I believe actions speaks louder than words so here are a few pictures of the mess called Crawford university below.
You certainly have an ulterior motive in discouraging applicants when indeed we have different opinions from other students. even your pictorial evidence are indictments against you. I am aware you have different platform to express dissatisfaction with with quality of facilities and services in your school. If you think the best way to improve the quality of infrastructure in your school is to destroy her image, that is wrong thing to do.

To my brothers fro. SE and SS, at least we now know our common enemy in Nigeria. Imagine the cattle nomadic saying the Yorubas are so intolerant that they attack the Igbos during election. First, they are playing the card that will made it impossible for other tribes to unite against them. Now that it appears Yorubas are speaking with one voice against their genocide against the people of SW, he tagged their leaders irredentist. The question is are Fulanis not taking over people's land in the middlebelt, are they not planning to extend this devilish plan to SW? Otherwise, while will a normal human being prefer his economic interests to the security and safety of fellow human beings?
To the people blaming SW for voting Buhari a d sending GEJ parking, I think you are not being fear to SW. Votes in SW were divided and a reasonable %went to GEJ despite the way he relegated the SW in his Government. GEJ if he were an excellent leader would have implemented the outcome of his Constitutional Conference and could have helped us stop the foot solders of GMB from unreasonable attack on other tribes land. If you are from the South of Niger and Benue and you are busy attacking the Yorubas because of GEJ, continue, just remember that when the Fulanis are through with Yorubas they will come for your tribe and subjugate everyone. It is our collective interest to unite against the provocative onslaught of the Herdsmen.
