The fact that you secure a court judgement doesn't make the land yours. There will be appeal and if the court judgement is rigged again, then it means the Government is delibrately setting the region on fire. You will need to convince the whloe word how you own a land across major international rivers, tell us what the state of the land was in 1860 when you claimed ownership . Tell us why that place was not under Benue state with you and why you didn't lay claim to it then.

Point of correction, oshiomohle didnt tar the road leading to anenih's town. He stopped where the ACN's assembly member's town was while anenih used his political influence to tar the road leading to his town. I was always going to irrua specialist that time for a project I supervised for almost 2 years so I knew anenih's town. Nobody said oshiomohle didnt perform. He was one of the best governors in his time. He preached against godfatherism but suddenly wanted to become one by dictating to the people of edo including the Gov himself. Oshiomhole did not win the election just because he preached against godfather-ism, he won because the preceding government failed woefully to perform and the Edo people wanted a change. When Adams the son of Oshiomole got to Government House, he fixed all the major roads causing headache to the people of the land of Omon'oba. It became easy for him on the merits of good performance to win election even against all odds when PDP was at the centre. Edo people were ready to support him at all costs. Yes, after preaching against godfather-ism, he ''fathered" Godwin the son of Obaseki politically and Edo people supported him, because they wanted the performance of Adam's type to continue in Government house.

Now, here are the questions: did Godwin perform in like manner as Adams? Are Edo people happy with the level of infrastructural development under the son of Obaseki? What I do know is, if Obaseki doesn't win the primaries, he'll decamp to pdp and because of his familarity with the terrain (Edo state), he'll be made the party's primary candidate. When the guber. election comes, Oshomole will want to rig the election and that's when he'll see the full wraught of Obaseki who will be waiting for any nonsense from Oshomole. Let me tell you this, Adesina is a first class brain and guess what (but don't quote me), it appears he and Ngozi Okonjo Iwealla are working together to ensure that the areas neglected by Word Bank in Africa are being filled by AFDB which angers the owners of Word Bank. Nobody is against transparency, Dr Adesina himself is solidly in support of transparency but you know that just as you can use the cutlass to clear weeds in the farm, if not carefully used, the same cutlass can be used to cut the yam and other crops you are trying to protect from weeds. Let Buhari also contact Donald Trump directly and call this independent probe off. Let him also write to the African Union and African leaders for all of them to jointly endorse Adesina. We need to exert our influence in Africa and our institutions. If the USA wins in ousting Akinwumi, that would be a big blow on African geopolitics.

Akinwunmi's offence is that he expedited loan requests for African countries which the World Bank President claims increased the debt portfolio of those countries. Akinwumi's style weakened the creditor power of the World Bank and IMF (where the United States is the majority shareholder). The plan is to get Akinwumi to step aside and the investigation won't be concluded before the election date and a stooge of the United States is installed there to do their bidding.

Now if the US doesn't get her way, they may impose sanctions on the bank (for flimsy reasons). They are protecting their interests. Therefore, after this, African leaders need to buy out the United States and review her partnership in African institutions.

Allegation No. 1

Allegation No. 2: Appointment of Mrs Chinelo ANOHU-AMAZU

ADESINA: Ms Chinelo Anohu-AMAZU was recruited through a globally advertised, open and competitive recruitment process. The search process was carried out by a top notch external recruitment firm, Russell Reynolds of the UK. She was one of two top candidates (both women) recommended to me as President to consider for appointment by the panel. But, I can state categorically that the allegations made against her are untrue and defamatory.

Allegation No 3: Appointment and promotions of Martin FREGENE

ADESINA: Mr Fregene is NOT my brother-in-law. There is no evidence he is. Second, Mr Fregene is a world-class geneticist, internationally renowned for his work on plant genetics of cassava, and who worked earlier at CIAT, Colombia, one of the CGIAR centres, and subsequently as Director at the Danforth Plant Science Centre (probably the second largest private agricultural research centres in the United States).
He returned from the diaspora to Nigeria to work as Chief Technical Advisor when I was Minister of Agriculture in Nigeria. He was hired as a consultant by the Bank Vice President for Agriculture, Human and Social Development, Jennifer Blake, to support her in the development of the Bank’s Feed Africa strategy. I approved the recommended hire which was entirely within my power to do.

Allegation No. 4: Mismanagement of the TAAT programme

ADESINA: Allegations against me concerning the TAAT are belied by objective and solid facts demonstrating no violation by me of the Code of Conduct.

TAAT is an initiative of the Bank developed to help take agricultural technologies to the scale of millions of farmers across Africa.

Although some staff made some mistakes in the procurement process, this is being investigated by the Bank and no findings have been made yet. There was no impropriety.

The president does not get involved in contractual issues in the Bank, except in cases involving matters that may affect the image, reputation and interests of the Bank.

Allegation No. 5: Appointments and promotions of Mrs Maria MULUNDI

ADESINA: Ms Maria Mulindi worked with me prior to joining the Bank. She was part of my transition management team as I prepared to take office at the Bank following my election as President, and she very ably led all engagements with the Bank with my transition team. All Presidents of the Bank are allowed to bring in and appoint their own Chief of Staff and advisers, to help them to implement their mandate.
Allegation No 6: Direct contracting and appointment of Victor OLADOKUN

ADESINA: We went to the university together and have been very close friends since then. There is nothing in the Bank rules that says that being a friend of anyone in the Bank who gets recruited at the Bank is against Bank rules.

Allegation No. 7: Contracting of Kapil KAPOOR

ADESINA: The African Development Bank, under my chairmanship of the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) Heads, was tasked to help further develop my proposal to the group on how we can work collectively to leverage global institutional investors to invest in infrastructure and other sectors.

Kapil Kapoor, who was previously the Director of Strategy and Policies of the Bank, prior to his appointment as the Director General for Southern Africa, had been leading this work working closely with all other MDBs.

Kapil was essentially doing this work on top of his regular work as Director General. He retired from the Bank at the end of August 2019.

Allegation No. 8: Appointment of Emmanuel EZINWA:

ADESINA: The allegation that “A Nigerian, Mr EZINWA was found guilty of sexually harassing a colleague during his probation period; and despite his misconduct, (I) requested that Mr. EZINWA’s contract be confirmed, thus forcing the HR Director, Mrs Frauke HARNISCHFEGER resign is false.

The truth is that I do not know Mr EZINWA and have never met him in the Bank. The President does not get involved in any staff appraisals except for Vice Presidents and direct reports.

The then HR Director, Mr. David Ssegawa, evaluated the staff and there was nothing about sexual harassment.

Mrs Frauke HARNISCHFEGER was not the HR Director in 2018. The HR Director in 2018 was Mr David Ssegawa, who evaluated the staff and recommended the staff, as per the standard procedures of the Bank, to the President. Ms HARNISCHFEGER joined the Bank in 2019, one year after a confirmation recommendation made by the predecessor HR Director.

Allegation No 9: Preferential treatment for Nigeria and Nigerians

ADESINA: I did not introduce an organisational chart with a Nigeria Country Directorate. The decision to open a Nigeria Country Directorate was taken by the Board of Directors under my predecessor, the former President of the Bank, Donald Kaberuka.

Allegation No 10: Awards received by the President and costs borne by the Bank

ADESINA: I received the World Food Prize ($250,000) and the Sunhak Peace Prize ($500,000) in recognition of a life of accomplishments in the field of agriculture. Although they were individual prizes, they brought great credit and prestige to the AfDB.

I brought further credit to myself and the Bank by donating these two cash awards for the establishment of the World Hunger Fighters Foundation, a foundation that has garnered contributions from others and now funds the Borlaug Adesina Fellows Fellowship for young African Agribusiness Innovators.

The expenses of the World Food Prize event, including musical entertainment (musical groups from Nigeria and the Glee Club from Purdue University (my alma mater) were defrayed by the World Food Prize Foundation.

Allegation 11: Settlements for staff separations

ADESINA: The allegation that somehow the former Chief Economist, Mr Celestine Monga, departed the Bank with improper payments is false. The Chief Economist was not dismissed. Contract non-renewal is not dismissal of staff.

Allegation 12: Resignation of Mr David SSEGAWA

ADESINA: Mr Ssegawa was the HR Director. It is not true that I, as President, allowed him to resign when there was an investigation. There was absolutely no investigation of David Ssegawa when he resigned, nor was one contemplated.

Allegation No 13: Resignation of Mr Michel-Cyr DJIENA-WEMBOU

ADESINA: The allegation that I allowed the country manager to resign when he was under investigation for corruption is false. The President does not run country offices. They are under a Director General and overall oversight of a Vice President.

Allegation No. 14: Appointment of Mr Charles LUFUMPA as acting VP and Chief Economist

ADESINA: The allegations against me over the appointment of Charles Lufumpa as Acting Vice President and Chief Economist are patently false. My conclusion after careful review of the case of Charles Lufumpa is that the investigations conducted were very faulty and cannot prove the allegations made against him. My review also showed a well-orchestrated effort to make Mr Lufumpa a scapegoat for failures of others to do their job.

Allegation No. 15: Disregard of rules concerning leave of absence of VPs or travel of management.

ADESINA: The President does not monitor or manage time off for staff as that’s done by the Human Resources. The truth is the Vice President had personal medical issues that he had to get attended to (his private life must be respected) that required him to be away for extended periods, as needed, and he travelled with full knowledge of the department of health of the Bank which was monitoring him while away on medical reasons.

Allegation No 16: Political lobbying of Heads of State

ADESINA: It is alleged that as President I basically bribed and corrupted the 16 African Heads of State and governments in the ECOWAS region to support my candidacy for re-election.

The allegation essentially impugns the integrity, leadership and honesty of 16 African presidents and ECOWAS. This is a fanciful and baseless allegation.

Summary

In summary, every single one of the 16 allegations against me in the Disclosure remains unsubstantiated. I have not violated the Code of Conduct. The Ethics Committee should so find and dismiss the matter.

Finally the issues of visionless leadership, corruption and poor management of countries' economies have come to haunt Africa. We don't even fully own our bank!

Believe me, if Akinwumi Adesina will survive this storm, two things will help:

1. His personal relationship and rapport with leaders of Germany, France, Japan and Canada well as most African countries. Even after serving under Jonathan, he maintained good relationship with Pres Buhari. He has this intellectual charm. Part of his offence is that he has virtually secured 2nd term unopposed without recourse to almighty United States.

2. The hatred which EU has for the proud narcissistic Donald Trump, the President of United States may help Adesina's case. Nigeria should exploit this to protect our candidate and image as a country.

All these letters will put diplomatic pressure on AfDB Board of Directors but if US garners the support of key non-African shareholders, Akinwumi Adesina will go because Francophone countries will always toe the line drawn by France thereby deflating Africa's resistance. In addition, I don't trust South Africa to protect Nigeria's interest.

Sound analysis. That is one of the reasons I am happy with Obj's letter. I know he command some respect in the international community I sincerely hope France will not play the role of the spoiler in this game. It is politics whichever way we look at it and am happy the Finance Minister has written her own letter, thereby nullifying some of the allegations against him. Honestly, we must stand up to play our key roles in Africa. If S. Africa should work against us, instant retaliation is key to drive home a strong warning to others and S. Africa. We should revisit the MTN issue is another way with a strangulati g sanctions.

As a person , I am waiting for any misstep from South Africa. If we don't assert ourselves, then we shall continue to be at the mercy of our brothers in Africa and their foreign paymaster.

The bank is an African Development Bank and the Board of the bank has absolved him from any wrong doing only for some position hungry people to go to USA to seek for a way to nullify the action of the Corporation.?

This is not done anywhere. Perhaps you need to know that one of the reasons they are using against him is that he hired some Nigerian principally the former DG of PENCOM. They said Nigerian government (PMB) remove the Igbo woman because of corruption and that Adesina influenced her appointment to a level close to VP. The same Nigerian government is the one writing to defend Adesina, if the allegations of favoritism were true, the Finance Minister would not be writing.

I urge you to visit other tred on this matter on Nairaland to see his response to all the all the allegations. The office is a very serious and powerful one and is highly coveted. For his outstanding performance, nobody is contesting against him that is the reason they want to ridicule him.

RESPONSE : Ms. Chinelo Anohu-AMAZU was recruited via a
globally advertised, open, competitive recruitment process. The search process was carried out by a top notch external recruitment firm, Russell Reynolds UK. She was 1 of 2 top candidates (both women) recommended to me as President to consider for appointment by the panel I can state categorically that allegations made against her are untrue and defamatory.

ALLEGATION 3: Appointment & promotions of Martin FREGENE

RESPONSE: Mr Fregene is NOT my brother-in-law. There is no evidence he is. Second, Mr Fregene is a worldclass geneticist internationally renowned for his work on plant genetics of cassava, and who worked earlier at CIAT, Colombia, one of CGIAR centres, and subsequently as Director at Danforth Plant Science Centre (probably the second largest private agricultural research centres in the US
He returned from diaspora to Nigeria to work as Chief Technical Advisor when I was Nigeria's Agriculture Minister. He was hired as consultant by the Bank's VP for Agric, Human & Social Development, Jennifer Blake, to support her in developing the Bank’s Feed Africa strategy
I approved the recommended hire which was entirely within my power to do.

ALLEGATION 4: Mismanagement of TAAT programme

RESPONSE: Allegations against me concerning the TAAT are belied by objective and solid facts demonstrating no violation by me of the Code of Conduct.

TAAT is an initiative of the Bank developed to help take agricultural technologies to the scale of millions of farmers across Africa. Although some staff made some mistakes in procurement process, this is being investigated by the Bank and no findings have been made yet.
There is no impropriety. The President does not get involved in contractual issues in the Bank, except in cases involving matters that may affect the image, reputation and interests of the Bank.

ALLEGATION 5: Appointments and promotions of Mrs Maria MULINDI

RESPONSE: Ms Maria Mulindi worked with me prior to joining the Bank. She was part of my transition management team as I prepared to take office at the Bank following my election as President, and she very ably led all engagements with the Bank with my transition team.
All Presidents of the Bank are allowed to bring in and appoint their own Chief of Staff and advisers, to help them to implement their mandate.

ALLEGATION 6: Direct contracting and appointment of Victor Oladokun.

RESPONSE: We went to the University together and
have been friends since then. There is nothing in the Bank rules that says that being a friend of anyone in the Bank who gets recruited at the Bank is against Bank rules.

ALLEGATIONS 7: Contracting of Kapil KAPOOR

ADESINA: The African Development Bank
under my chairmanship of the Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) Heads, was tasked to help further develop my proposal to the group on how we can work collectively to leverage global institutional investors to invest in infrastructure and other sectors.
Kapil Kapoor, who was previously Director, Strategy & Policies of the Bank, prior to his appointment as DG for Southern Africa, had been leading this, working closely with all other MDBs.

Kapil was essentially doing this work on top of his regular work as Director General
He retired from the Bank at the end of August 2019.

ALLEGATIONS 8: Appointment of Emmanuel EZINWA

RESPONSE: The allegation that “A Nigerian, Mr EZINWA was found guilty of sexually harassing a colleague during his probation period;
and despite his misconduct, (I) requested that Mr. EZINWA’s contract be confirmed, thus forcing the HR Director, Mrs Frauke HARNISCHFEGER resign is false.

The truth is that I do not know Mr EZINWA and have never met him in the Bank.
The President does not get involved in any staff appraisals except for Vice Presidents and direct reports.

The then HR Director, Mr. David Ssegawa, evaluated the staff and there was nothing about sexual harassment.

Mrs Frauke HARNISCHFEGER was not the HR Director in 2018.
The HR Director in 2018 was Mr David Ssegawa, who evaluated the staff & recommended the staff, as per the standard procedures of the Bank, to the President.

Ms HARNISCHFEGER joined in 2019, one year after a confirmation recommendation made by the predecessor HR Director.

ALLEGATION 9: Preferential treatment for Nigeria &Nigerians

RESPONSE: I did not introduce an organisational chart with a Nigeria Country Directorate. The decision (to open such Directorate) was taken by the BOD under my predecessor, the Bank's ex President @DonaldKaberuka

ALLEGATION 10: Awards received by the President and costs borne by the Bank

ADESINA: I received the @WorldFoodPrize ($250,000) and the @SunhakPrize ($500,000) in recognition of a life of accomplishments in the field of agriculture. Although they were individual prizes,
they brought great credit & prestige to @AfDB_Group.
I brought further credit to myself & the Bank by donating these 2 cash awards for the establishmnt of the World Hunger Fighters Foundation, a foundatn that has garnered contributions from others & now funds the Borlaug
Adesina Fellows Fellowship for young African Agribusiness Innovators.

The expenses of the @WorldFoodPrize event,v including entertainment (musical groups from Nigeria and the Glee Club from Purdue University (my alma mater) were defrayed by the World Food Prize Foundation.

ALLEGATION 11: Settlements for staff separations

RESPONSE: The allegation that somehow the former Chief Economist, Mr Celestine Monga, departed the Bank with improper payments is false. The Chief Economist was not dismissed. Contract non-renewal is not dismissal of staff.

ALLEGATION 12: Resignation of Mr David SSEGAWA

RESPONSE: Mr Ssegawa was the HR Director. It is not true that I, as President, allowed him to resign when there was an investigatn. There was absolutely no investigatn of David Ssegawa when he resigned, nor was one contemplated

ALLEGATION 13: Resignation of Mr Michel-Cyr DJIENA-WEMBOU

RESPONSE: The allegation that I allowed the country manager to resign when he was under investigatn for corruption is false. The President does not run country offices. They are under a DG &overall oversight of a VP

ALLEGATION 14: Appointment of Mr Charles LUFUMPA as acting VP and Chief Economist.

RESPONSE: The allegations against me over the appointment of Charles Lufumpa as Acting Vice President and Chief Economist are patently false!

My conclusn after careful review of the Charles Lufumpa's case is that investigatns conducted were very faulty & cannot prove the allegations made against him. My review also showed a well-orchestrated effort to make Mr Lufumpa a scapegoat for failures of ors to do their job

ALLEGATION 15: Disregard of rules concerning leave of absence of VPs or travel of management.

RESPONSE: The President does not monitor or manage time off for staff as that’s done by the Human Resources. The truth is the Vice President had personal medical issues that he had to get attended to (his private life must be respected) that required him to be away for extended periods, as needed, and he travelled with full knowledge of the department of health of the Bank which was monitoring him while away on medical reasons.

ALLEGATION 16: Political lobbying of Heads of State

RESPONSE: It is alleged that as President I basically bribed and corrupted the 16 African Heads of State and governments in the ECOWAS region to support my candidacy for re-election.
The allegation essentially impugns the integrity, leadership and honesty of 16 African presidents and ECOWAS. This is a fanciful and baseless allegation.

In summary, every single one of the 16 allegations against me in the Disclosure remains unsubstantiated.
I have not violated the Code of Conduct. The Ethics Committee should so find and dismiss the matter.

Part of the allegations against him is that he employed one of your sisters from SE as a Senior officer of the bank taking the salary of a VP. The woman is the former DG of PENCOM. It was alleged that he hire her notwithstanding the corruption allegations against the woman by GMB Government.
