Thank you so much for you deep thoughts, we could have grown beyond this point in our marriage, but due to my job, we rarely spend time together, to be honest I spend 21 working days leave a year with my family throughout my service in the military, and some rare cases, I had come home for just a week or so.

But now that I left the job, I hope we would be able to get to learn ourselves better and possibly be able to work it out.

Once again, thanks for your nice words.
You're welcome, unfortunately you were away due to the nature of the job but at least it afforded you all that you have today so it was a profitable venture even though you sacrificed much.

Now that you will be spending more time at home it is a crucial time for you guys to build yourselves and your relationship; almost like a second courtship, so be sure to make the most of it.

Not that you have to force affection or overdo things but make a conscious effort to understand each other and forge a stronger bond.

From all you have written here you sound like a very reasonable and well-mannered fellow, I am sure you people will be fine as long as you keep an open mind towards each other.

Permit me to say that you are changing our perceptions of military men cheesy who knew one of you could sound like this lol

ZionMyWorld:
Self centeredness is a right word I think, though she comes from a broken family, she lost her mother at very young age, have deep resentment towards her step mother till date, she had literally lived all by herself even while living in her father's house.

This idea of working together as a team is alien to her, there are some things she does and never told me, like doing monthly contribution or keeping cash with someone to keep for her, and she won't let me know, while am so open to her, because that's how I grew up, my mom n dad work as a team.

I sometimes tell her to carry me along whatever she does so that I can be in the picture. I buy everything with our names, our cars, house, land, everything carries my name and hers, even we both signatories to our bank accounts. Despite I do the work, while she handle home front and recently start managing a nursery and primary school we setup.

Seems her upbringing caused irreparable damages to her mindset. Now am facing it.
Okay, I think I get her better now. She craves attention and affection due to the petting and nurturing she missed out on as a child.

However, if you have told her that you don't like certain behaviours and she still continues then that can't be blamed on childhood trauma. It's simply self-centeredness because you're not the one who caused that past misfortune and she shouldn't take it out on you. She should adjust.

The one that's concerning me is taking calls from different guys at all hours of the night, I'm sorry but if she doesn't stop that then you should report her to an elder she respects and let her explain to them who exactly she is talking to by that time. She can't continue like that, it's not right.

As for her secretive nature, though it hurts your feelings I feel that you will keep reminding her to communicate with you and let you in. She has had to grow a thick skin because of her family situation and it will take time for her to let down her barriers. Though, after 10 years of marriage I think that you should show your anger a bit more strongly so that she can see how seriously you take it.

When it comes to money, to be honest it's normal for some women to hide money somewhere in case of emergency. I can't really blame her for that because to be honest, you can be caught short at anytime with nobody to help. But I understand that you find it offensive.

Bear in mind that you are both flawed creatures and you married each other's imperfections and weak points, the worst of your characters and not just all the nice stuff.

You can grow together and heal each others wounds, as far as you are both open to correction and adjustment.

So to your earlier post I don't think you should be thinking of divorcing her over these issues, although she definitely needs a very good talking to.

You are a very nice guy oo..ha!

She had better stop that rubbish, that's all I gat to say because I don't know how she's not ashamed of herself

Being an extrovert has nothing to do with it, she is self-centred and irresponsible.

How can she refuse to learn the business yet tell you she is bored? Bored of what exactly?

Hmm
Families have been wiped away, generational hatred, envy and malice being the order of the day if u don't handle things like this with care. An igbo man's weakest point is family land. They should apply sense. I'm even begging.
Peace and wisdom, not that you're so stupid not to throw the useless people out of your property but so that nobody will be able to give a bad testimony about you tomorrow.

As long as he builds something for them somewhere else, they will have to go. Or OP builds another place and leaves it for them.

No talk of police, lawyer or that stuff because anything like that they will just go about the whole village wailing that their wicked brother wants to kill all of them.

Then the fathers reputation will be tainted Plus those cousins will be beefing her

Lol the comments here are really something. Who are you selling the place to?

At least that example you gave the man is using police for his own children. Brother using police against brother? In the village for that matter. If it will work she can try it but I have never heard such a thing before. I can't believe police would even agree to go inside there

Their best bet is to start grabbing village gist and familiarising with some of those umunna so that they will appeal to those crazy uncles on their behalf. That's after building some one-room for them elsewhere to pack out to.

They have already threatened to go diabolical so they have to be careful. This is more of a village politics issue or court case...that's why they have to campaign to for the minds of the umunna to act in their favour

Who will buy the house?
Who will go to another man's ancestral land( land that belongs to the whole family by the way) and buy house without the consent of all members of the family?
All these people that don't go to their villages, always dishing out advice.
U don't sell family house. Maybe u do it in your culture and tribe but the tribe the poster came from don't do that.
Can u listen to yourself. If u don't know how a particular tribe practice their custom, don't choke mouth.
Lol. I was just wondering what on earth all these people were talking about.

In some families that are disorganised, parcels of land are sold off without everybodys consent. But I don't think house can come into it.

Who would feel comfortable living in such a house, not even in outside land somewhere but in the middle of somebody's compound? Ha!

Also calling police for your family in Igboland is a very crazy idea, except somebody can just explain it to me.

Chei aru ga-eme o! Well she will select advice from here sha

The irony is that one day for all of us, our time will be up and only then would we realize that most of all we did on earth were either efforts in futility or efforts in vanity.
Then we'd beg in vain for another chance to come back and live right.

This the exact situation my dad got us into when we were small, my uncles even use to beat us and one day slapped my mum, to tell you how the house was a funji house of commotion , funny thing is my dad was the one that built the house and gave them one room each just like you narrated, my dad had to buy another land elsewhere immediately the boy's quarter was completed we rushed and packed in there till the main building was completed and till now the drama over there seems not to have an end but we are exempted sometimes any mess up there they come to my parents that is living far away to report the issues. I don't see those ur uncles as those that are ready to vacant if ur papa get the money he should forfeit there and build another for himself, those uncles can kill because of that so it's better he give them some distance.
But why are people like this, for goodness' sake?

The topic of the thread is buhari's daughter graduating from uk school. My bone of contention is his hypocrisy. The other guy's line of defence is claiming she was in school before he became president. Now read ur posts and try to see who's line of reasoning you're trying to align with

That's where you're wrong and I've been explaining to you. The genesis of the conversation is that someone claimed her course has a five year duration not the possibility of spending a bazillion year in school.
Such was the genesis of the conversation between me and you.

A course with a duration of 5 years is what that dude said, and an undertaking of studies that managed to last for a period of 5 years is what I pointed out to you before you began to implicate yourself.

Agboriotejoye:
I'm beginning to suspect I'm arguing with a knucklehead.
Did you read that aspect of "one year later" in isolation or you read the whole thing?
Context lady, context!!
Again, there's nothing to indicate that any of such occurred from what we know, so except you have dat info, it's safe to assume she spent the statutory three years.
Let me educate you a little. Variables are unknowns. As far as you don't know the exact conditions of those variables they remain unknown and therefore are ignored until the conditions become clearer. I hope you can relate this with this subject.
Again, the person who claimed she spent five years never said it was due to part-time or any other additions you brought up. That's why I've been asking for the basis of ur argument.
To all intents and purposes, as far as we know, she spent three years, not dyslexic, not arranging marriages, not homesick, no sick parents (abi na she take care of bubu in 2017 ni) grin or any religious commitments.
Do you even know how many Muslims are in Uk schools? Just imagine them taking time off for religious commitments. It sounds so frivolous.
I don't even believe Uk allows people extend their stay in school so blatantly. The system operates strictly like a business. No time to waste.

But besides all dat, I'm still trying to see what basis you're trying to justifying the assertion that she spent five years in school
Do you agree that it is possible for somebody to spend more than the typical 3 years in school owing to a range of factors now? Or not

That was the genesis of this conversation.

And insulting me when I did not provoke you just shows how primitive and unintelligent you really are. Do invectives and statistics go hand in hand huh What a shame...
Politics › Re: Hanan Buhari Graduates With First Class From UK University (Photo) by midnighter(f):
Agboriotejoye:
Ok let me ask you a simple question to show you ur argument is without basis
If someone were to ask you the duration for a degree in the UK what will be ur response?

Someone claimed that she did a five year course in the UK. I responded that there's no five year course in the UK. You then jumped in mentioning extenuating circumstances which no one have ever heard of in connection with the subject of discussion. As far as we know, she's neither dyslexic nor a student needing special care. So all ur conjectures are possibilities but can't be applied in her case cause we don't know of such being her case. The dude who claimed she did a five year course has already stopped arguing cause he knows he's lying. The question is what's the basis for ur argument.
Mind you, even in Nigeria, you can defer ur course too for whatever reasons. There are even special circumstances where people spend three years to get a degree in Nigeria. But I'm sure if you're asked by a foreigner how long to get a degree in Nigeria, you'll simply say four years and five years for engineering courses.
I don't know if you studied physical sciences or mathematical probability but if you did you'll know what is called constant and variables.
If you understand that concept, you'll know ur argument is purely academic and has no basis in this context
A course in the UK typically lasts for 3 years. But you cant use typical circumstances to apply to every single individual; that is why they are "typical" and not "unconditional". It is not cast in iron that you must only read for 3 years or rusticate, so your reasoning has no basis.

This particular statement you made is the stone in your rice:

Agboriotejoye:
So how come she's graduating one year later?
There is no particular answer to that question, that is what Im trying to explain to you.

The bolded is the issue here: You responded to me that part-time course doesnt mean you will do 2 years extra when that is simply not true. You then moved the goalposts that how can she do part-time when she has money. I explained that its not always to do with money. You now said that she cannot be dyslexic when you dont have her medical records, do youhuh

If you had just acknowledged that people can study for more than 3 years instead of trying to rubbish a known fact then we wouldnt be having this problem.

There you go again, with that "as far as we know" stuff. But you dont know! How will you know except if she comes out and tells you huh The missing information here is when exactly she started reading that course and whether she read it for 3 years or not. And if not, why not? Therein lies your pot of gold.

Exactly, they are possibilities which means they are possible, no matter how unlikely they are. The point of being an exception to a rule is that your case is exceptional! So pointing out that the chance is "remote" is redundant here because the likelihood of anybody in the whole population
deviating from the norm is already less than usual.

If you yourself understood constants and variables, you wouldnt be trying to discard variable factors as if they dont exist. Just because a variable is small it doesnt mean it doesnt affect the constant. Thats if you even know what the quantities of those variables are, which you dont, because you dont know her!

It may be academic and theoretical, but that doesnt make it totally untrue as you were suggesting in the first place.
