Hypocrite! You are actually the one that speaks evil about other pastors e.g. Prophet TB Joshua, and he has refused to reply you. Now you are pretending as if you are the innocent one.
wiseone28: But Ghanaians are boosting of how their country is better
So you think hosting a useless event like AFRIMA is evidence that a country's economy is better? Nigeria can go ahead and host AFRIMA if that would bring electricity, water, good roads, hospitals, education and put food on the table of Nigerians!
The Ghana govt. announced early this year that it would not be hosting the AFRIMA because it does not see any tangible benefits accruing from hosting the event!
Is that a university lecture room, even for postgraduate students? Nigeria, we are in trouble! That room is not better than a typical classroom for primary/secondary students in some schools in some countries including Nigeria.
It is our business because AFCON is not only for Nigeria, but for all African countries! People need to have information from all perspectives and context in order to be better educated, informed and enlightened. Other countries can learn from us, and we too can learn from other countries. That is how not to live in ignorance!
Excellentmind: Ordinarily, this comment doesn't deserve a response, but this will further misinform the public if records are not set straight because i have lived and worked in Ghana.
The official currency in Ghana is Cedi/Pesewas. But this currency was totally destroyed by hyper inflation as a result of poor monitory policies of her successive governments. It was so bad that to pay N100,000 equivalent in Cedi would require two ghana-must-go bags, thereby attracting armed rubbery. As a cash economy, payment for an item of value became a burden to both the buyer and seller due to the bulky nature of the amount involved. In some cases, bullion vans would be required to carry the bulky cash to their payment destinations. This of course, became a problem to the government and the people of Ghana. For this reason, financial experts swarmed into action and came up with a recommendation of "RE-DENOMINATION OF CEDI" just for easy carriage. In 2007, re-denomination policy was implemented and Four zeros (0000) were removed from Cedi and the remnant named "GHANA CEDI" to differentiate the two bank notes.
Please note, that every One Ghana Cedi you come across is Ten Thousand Cedis. Initially, when i arrived in Accra in 2010, i used to exchange N1000 for Ghc9.70 (One thousand Naira for Nine Ghana Cedis and Seventy Pesewas) i.e 1000/9.70=103.09. But today, they exchange at N70.
There is nothing to be proud of in Ghana.
Nonsense! Do you exchange that Naira was also 75k to the USD in the early 1980s? So what it is to be proud of in Nigeria? Can Nigeria boost of electricity and water for its people? Ghanaians are okay with the little they have with peace of mind, freedom and security! That is a country where taxis and buses move around 24/7. You can get a taxi at 2am or 1am midnight. Do you have such in Nigeria. You rather think about how almost every country is complaining about the sickening attitude and criminality of Nigerians in diaspora!
ASUU is not serious!' I wonder if Nigerians actually heard what the man said that made the Ghana university to sack him.
He said: “…Our people will come here and pay $10,000 but they will not pay N20,000 in the University of Lagos … What an average student pays in the University of Lagos in one session to get a degree in English is N12,000. Ghanaians are there paying N12,000… if you ask Nigerians to donate N50,000 naira every year to contribute to that university they will riot but the same Nigerians will come here and pay $10,000 for something 80 percent inferior to Nigeria.”
“I won’t pay 10 percent of that sum for my child to get a degree in a Ghanaian university, I am in the system, I know the quality of education we receive here is 80 percent inferior to what is in Nigeria. I can tell you authoritatively,” he added.
“No Ghanaian degree is 20 percent up to the quality of a Nigerian degree. All our federal universities are better than any universities here. What makes a university? It’s not buildings, it’s not trees, it’s the quality of staff that will recycle and produce others; they don’t have it,” he said.
How do you expect a responsible university or any organization to keep this kind of man on its payroll.? May be in Nigeria, but not in Ghana because they have their integrity and quality to protect.
Meanwhile, the same professor had actually applied for an extension of contract at the same university, and was grandstanding talking recklessly outside because he wanted to be seen as someone special. When will Nigerians learn to respect our host community/nation when we travel outside the country? Someone employs you, pays and provides you with facilities and you say they are inferior because you want to desperately defend some of your brethren that have been caught in criminal acts? It is pathetic how a whole professor could descend so low and talk with reckless abandon!
The Public Relations Officer of the University of Education, Winneba, Ernest Azutiga, told host Kwaku Owusu Adjei aka Patoo on Anopa Kasapa on Kasapa FM that he found it hard to understand how Prof. Nwagbara after running down Ghanaian universities still wanted to extend his contract with the UEW.
“What is surprising is that Prof. Nwagbara who denigrated Ghanaian universities had actually applied to have his work stay at the university extended.
“When he appeared before the disciplinary committee he said what had happened was unfortunate. He told the committee that with reference to the video it will take him the rest of his life to defend his statement and that he doesn’t see how he’ll explain things to his children and friends who have called him all over the world in the past few days since the video hit the internet.”
Nigerians have already been involved in 4 kidnappings this year. One of which involved a diplomat.
And kidnapping is something very very very foreign to Ghana.
Ghanaians are very easy going and welcoming, but some of our nationals are trying their hardest to change that.
Thank you my brother. Don't mind the ignorant and arrogant spewing rubbish. Nigerians have become a global nuisance. Normally in Ghana, you see a lot of white people and tourists walking around freely at any time of the day, including midnight. The country has always been tourist-friendly and you can board a taxi or commercial bus even at 12 midnight or 2am or anytime. Now, the Nigerian idiots and criminals want to spoil and destroy their country. The earlier they flush out these criminals the better for them.
Who said Ghanaians are saints? Compare the number of Ghanaian criminals arrested in Nigeria and other countries; with the number of Nigerian criminals arrested in Ghana and other countries!
Instead of being ashamed of the mess and shame of what some Nigerians are doing, you are trying to do equalization!
dadavivo: Shut-up can the Ghana police release the names of these socalled Nigerians? since they cant give us their names, they're trying to frame Nigerians in a PURE Ghana crime. period
The Nigerian that was arrested in Togo 2 days ago is called John Orji. The name of the other one that has been in police custody for 2 months is Samuel Udoetuk Wills I hope you will be man enough to accept the shame when Ghana police eventually release the names of the other 3 Nigerians arrested yesterday in Ashanti region.
dadavivo: All lies, Ghanaian authorities are now framing Nigerians including students of crime they know nothing about.
They've been mentioning that Nigerians were involved in the crime for over 1 month now but we are yet to see the so-called Nigerians.
Today in Ghana neighbors now call police on Nigerians and lie that they're kidnappers just to destroy the person cos he or she is a Nigerian.
You can recall in the past they always protest how Nigerians are taking over their retail trade and they were closing down Nigerian shops. Now their tactics is to tag and frame all Nigerians as criminal in other to destroy them.
It's about time we ask Benin Republic to shut their border with Togo and Ghana otherwise we shut them out too.
Foolish talk.! It is true and Nigerians are involved. There are currently 2 kidnap cases involving Nigerians. One in Takoradi (3 Ghanaian girls) and the 2 Canadian girls in Ashanti Region. Three Nigerians were involved in the kidnap of the Canadian girls. Infact when the police went to release the girls, there were 2 Nigerians keeping the girls and they exchanged gun shots with the police before they were arrested after 25 minutes. The 3rd Nigerian was arrested afterwards in another location.
The other case in Takoradi, one Nigerian from South-South/East was arrested over 2 months ago; he later broke jail, but was re-arrested and now in police custody. His confession has now led the Ghana police to arrest the leader of the gang in Togo, 2 days ago. That makes it a total of 4 Nigerians arrested in the last 2 days.
Truth be told, Nigerians have become BIG NUISANCE in every nation you find them. Now Ghanaians have started being hostile to Nigerians. It was not like this when the Yoruba first went to Ghana in the pre-colonial days. Now we have some shameless Nigerians, mostly from a particular section of the country that are into criminality and destroying the image of Nigeria and other Nigerians. If you are clean, law abiding Nigerian, please be very careful stay away from any Nigerian community when you travel out of this country if not sure of their activity so you would not mix with criminals. Malaysia, Indonesia, China, South Africa, India, Ghana, Botswana, Singapore, -----the situation is the same. A shameless nation with shameless criminals
Nwodosis: They should be grateful to Marry Slessor!
They should be grateful to Mary Slessor only if they are from the East (Igbo) or some part of South South Yoruba culture never discriminated against twins. In fact twins were regarded as the greatest form of gift-children by the Yoruba. That is why you can never read anywhere in Yoruba history that twins were murdered immediately after birth.

Kingosytex: R.I.P to him... S.A is very hostile to nigerians.
what is the basis of this hostility?
The basis is the lawlessness, and criminal tendencies of many Nigerians in foreign land, even though I admit that not every Nigerian is a criminal. But the sheer number of many Nigerians who are misbehaving and misconducting themselves will put every other Nigerian at risk, and that is what is happening in S/Africa, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Ghana, etc
NaijaCelebrity: After the EFCC Saga, Singer Zlatan Ibile leaves Nigeria for Ghana for what looks like a vacation.
The Singer and his colleagues were arrested at the early hours of the day on May 10,2019 in which the singer was detained for 3 days before he was release on bail.
Zlatan took to his Instagram page to share video on him in Ghana with his friend for Vacation.
To me, he is in Ghana for one or more of these reasons: a. To escape from EFCC b. For a genuine vacation c. To link up with other like-minded potentially dubious/criminal Nigerians e. To go collaborate and sample the Ghanaian Afro hip-hop/hiplife sound which has become the mainstay of Nigerian musicians. All Nigerian musicians need to do is to use the Ghanaian beat/rhtymns with some good lyrics and gbam! they make a hit .....Wizkid, Davido, Timaya, PSquare, Flavour, Mayorkun, Mr Eazi, Dbanj, Banky W, Patoranking, Wande Coal, Duncan Mighty, Tuface, Teni, Kiss Daniel. T.Savage, Mavin Crew etc,..all of them rely on the best to make waves!
I remember saying here on NL recently that the one striking difference between Ghanaians and 'Nigerians' is that Ghanaians do not use ANY and ALL opportunity to de-market their country. Reaffirming yet again that Nigerians are the WORST (and best) thing to happen to Nigeria! SMH >
My brother, we need to act sensibly in Nigeria. I just came in fron Ghana and everywhere in their airport was bright with electricity. We got to the passenger pick up/drop off point at MMIA airport in Lagos and everywhere was in darknessw with many foreigners standing and no seats provided. This was about 9.50pm at night.
Fake News! The airport was never flooded and that picture is not the airport. I was in Ghana over the weekend when it rained and just returned Tuesday night and I used the airport. Opposing politicians, especially the ruling party and their media outfits had been carrying fake news of flood at the airport in order to discredit former president of Ghana John Mahama who built the airport. But it is all lies.
Chief Lateef Jakande was born on July 29, 1929. He is currently 89 years old.
He was the first Democratic governor of Lagos state. His tenure lasted only four (4) years.
He served as Governor between October 1979 and December 1983.
He was a journalist who was later appointed the editor-in-chief of the Tribune by the owner, Chief Obafemi Awolowo.
Jakande later became actively involved in politics and became a member of the defunct Obafemi Awolowo-founded Unity Party of Nigeria (UPN).
Encouraged by Awolowo, he ran for election as the executive governor of Lagos State in 1979.As the Governor of Lagos state, he religiously implemented the four cardinal programmes of UPN.
As a result of his administrative philosophies, he was widely considered as the younger version of the sage, Obafemi Awolowo. Hence, he was famously referred to as “Baba Kerere” (Junior Awo).
He introduced housing and educational programs targeting the poor, building new neighbourhood primary and secondary schools and providing free primary and secondary education.
His government established a singular school system and ensured genuine free education in Lagos State and the beneficiaries of this policy are in different positions of eminence in the country and around the world.
His government raised the primary schools in Lagos State to 812 with 533,001 pupils (against 605 primary schools with 434,545 pupils he met in 1979) and secondary schools to 223 with 167,629 students (against 105 schools with 107,835 students in 1979).
His government constructed 11, 729 classrooms with a maximum of 40 children per class between March and August 1980, by 1983, he had constructed over 22,000 classrooms.
He established the Lagos State University.
His government built the current Lagos State Secretariat. The Secretariat houses all the state ministries as well as the popular roundhouse hitherto occupied by all subsequent governors of the state.
His administration built the Lagos State House of Assembly complex in Alausa, Ikeja.
His government established the Lagos State Television (LTV) and Lagos Radio,
He established the Lagos State University, General Hospitals, Teacher Training College and the College of Education, Waste Disposal Board,
His administration also established the Water Management Board and constructed the Adiyan Water Works (to increase water supply in the state to 18.16 million litres per day).
His government modernized and expanded the Iju Water Works which was first commissioned in 1915. This increased daily capacity from 159 million to 204 million litres per day.
His government established the Electricity Board for Rural Electrification with the provision of streetlights.
His government took over the ownership and financing of Lagos State Printing Corporation in July 1980.
His government established the first State Traffic Management Authority (Road Marshals).
His government established small scale Industries Credit Scheme which preceded the EKO bank.
His government established LASACO Insurance.
His government expanded the existing market and built new ones.
His government established Traditional Medicine Board.
Jakande’s government constructed over 30,000 housing units. The schools and housing units were built cheaply but were of great value.
For instance, his government built low-cost houses in Ijaiye, Dolphin, Oke-Afa, Ije, Abesan, Iponri, Ipaja, Abule Nla, Epe, Amuwo-Odofin, Anikantamo, Surulere, Iba, Ikorodu, Badagry, Isheri/Olowu, Orisigun etc.
He also completed the construction of the General Hospital in Gbagada and Ikorodu and built about 20 health centres within the state.
He established 23 local government councils which were later disbanded by the military.
Jakande exemplified a modest lifestyle.
As Governor, he refused to move into the opulent comforts of the governor’s official residence. As a state governor, he lived in his private residence in Ilupeju, his modest home surrounded by other homes. And he commuted to work in his private Toyota sedan.
Till date, he lives in his one-storey building at Ilupeju. His Number 2 Bishop Street, Ilupeju residence is devoid of the paraphernalia expected in a former governor’s residence, especially one of such status.
He tenure lasted for just 4 years. His achievements within those two years are considered by many as unrivalled by any administration after him.
In the transport sector, below are a few of his achievements during his four-year stint as the Governor of Lagos state.
Lateef Jakande constructed, rehabilitated and resurfaced the following roads:
Epe/Ijebu-Ode Road Oba Akran Avenue Toyin Street, Ikeja Town Planning Way Alimosho-Idimu-Egbe Road Idimu-Iba-LASU Road Victoria Island/Epe Road New Secretariat road, among others.
His government purchased and commissioned the giant car crusher equipment. The equipment was designed specifically to crush derelict vehicles in Lagos State. It had the capacity to crush 45 vehicles per day.
The Government of Lateef Jakande established an Asphalt Plant for the Department of Public Works (now Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC). This was done to ensure the regular and easy maintenance of the roads.
In July 1983, two commercial passenger boats christened “Baba Kekere and Itafaji” to run the Mile 2 – Marina (CMS) route via the lagoons were inaugurated by his government to mark the official launch of the Lagos State ferry services.
6. Establishment of the First State Traffic Management Authority (Road Marshals)
The idea of a metro-line system for Lagos state was first conceived by Governor Lateef Jakande. It became necessary with the exploding population of the state, and the need for a more effective urban mass transit system.
However, the project was cancelled by the General Mohammadu Buhari-led military government after they seized power on the 31 December 1983.
It was Jakande that constructed the Lekki-Epe expressway without erecting a tollgate on it, only for governors (thieves) to do a re-surfacing about 35 years later and turn the road into their personal ATM machine through exploitative and exorbitant tolls. But the ''mumu'' people of Lagos cannot do jack; they queue to pay day in day out.
Copy cats! Ghanaians started this fashion in the early 90s whereby they bury people in coffins designed after their work/hubby/passion e.g. fish casket for a fisherman. My people in Nigeria have now started copying the this. Very soon, some Nigerians would claim they created or originated this fashion!
