We should win this and stay 4 points clear over MANU and 6 points over Arsenal hopefully.

If we can keep still and win the next couple of games outright then some confidence will return irrespective of what happens to MANU and Gunners.
SportsRe: Gunmen Open Fire On Togo Footballers In Angola by mikeoscar: 9:04pm On Jan 09, 2010
Soccernet  & BBC say Death toll has risen to three(3). Togolese assistant coach and a Togolese official. The Assistant goal keeper's case is still unclear.

The Togolese team also claim Ghana and CIV are in Solidarity with their decision to pull-out.

What I don't know is if that show of Solidarity translate to Ghana and CIV pulling out also. If my fears are confirmed then the organisers have more than those Rhetorics of "the competion will go on" to deal with.

In my Heart of Hearts I pray Nigeria manage at least a 3rd place.

I have a sneaky feeling that the Finals will be Between Cameroun and CIV.

However, With the recent Gun attack on the Togolese Team in transit to their match City and them threatening to bow out of the Competition  in solidarity with their Shot/injured players and the dead bus driver i DOUBT if there still will be any glamour to the event.

The Angolan Government Spoke person has already branded the attack an act of Terrorism-True it is but , is this whole Terror madness shifting squarely to Africa now.

What should we expect at the Summer world cup  then, Political, religious, ideological, Xenophobic shootings or what?

I Hope our African players don't start carrying guns to the locker room like some NBA players here in the U.S, God help us abeg!
CrimeRe: My Target Was Pastor Chris - Lagos Bomber by mikeoscar: 5:20pm On Jan 07, 2010
Nobody sent me, nobody sent me, I repeat, nobody sent me! My target was not Superscreen. I wanted to get the attention of Pastor Chris Oyakilome of Christ Embassy Church. I was frustrated because things were not moving well".

These were the words of Seyi Olayiwola, a 30-year old father of one who was arrested by the Police for allegedly attempting to blow up the office of a television station on December 22, last year.

The suspect, who is lying critically ill at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, is blind from the explosives and has also lost two of his limbs as a result of the effect of the explosive that detonated in his hands. He spoke to reporters yesterday. The hospital was heavily guarded by policemen from the Bomb Disposal Unit. Olayiwola said he made the explosives himself and that he got the idea from films and information he got on the internet.

According to him, he did some job for the Christ Embassy Church at Owodunni, Lagos Mainland, but was not paid.

He went to the television station because he wanted to attract the attention of their head pastor.

"They were owing me some money and all of a sudden they stopped giving me jobs. I had gone there before to ask for my money and the girl I met told me that she was not aware that I should go and bring the person who brought me," he said.

Narrating what took place at Logemo House, Onipanu, home of the television station, the suspect who claimed to be a film producer come computer engineer, said: " My name is Seyi Olayiwola Ahmed, after I finished school in 1997, I went into film production. Early last year, I started feeling frustrated; things were not moving fine.I had interest in films since I was a child. So, early this year, I picked interest in explosives I started going on the internet and started looking for information on Explosives. So, I carried out series of tests on explosive, just recently, I did a test which gave me desired result .

"Because things were not moving well for my family, and I thought that if I can actually get something like this right, I could use it to feed my family and people around me. I am this kind of person that likes helping people. My intention was to take my recent exploit to Christ Embassy, Owodunni area for a test because they were owing me for a job I did for them, but when I got there that day, the whole place was locked and I could not carry out my act, so I went to Superscreen to find out how much it would cost put a Soap in their air time, when I got there, I got distracted and the explosive blew, before I could rush to the Christ Embassy building in that Logemo House, the whole thing had already exploded. My target was not superscreen, my target was Christ Embassy Church in that place.I went there with three explosives: the first one was intended to draw attention so that I can tell the world why I was there, because I needed to draw the attention of Pastor Oyakhilomhe to my plight. Nobody sent me to Superscreen, my target was not Superscreen; my target was the Christ Embassy Church.

"Right now, I need Pastor Oyakhilomhe to forgive me because I have sinned. My intention was not to hurt anyone, but to draw attention to my plight because one of his branch churches was owing me. If I had met Pastor Chris and told him about my problems, he would have listened to me, but I did not get the opportunity."

Lagos State Commissioner of police Marvel Akpoyibo, who addressed reporters after the suspect’s confession, said the Lagos state command is pro-active in crime-fighting, measures adding that the suspect’s behavior was "absurd"

Nigerians, Please read FyneGuy's rendition carefully and see  if that guy makes any sense before some of you start concluding that Christ Embassy is this and that and ofcourse the ripple effect is that alot of you start jumping in with Abuses on most other Ministers of God.

This guy is singing incoherently. He even claims his interest in making bomb which evidently started long before the claim that He was owed and when He met a lady, bla, bla, bla. Then also He didn't want to harm anyone He only wanted to draw Rev Chris' attention yet one lady here has started asking why Christ Embassy will not pay, blablabla. You don't even need to hear another side of the story before concluding this man is insane. Read both posts again and you will find a lot missing and by the way when has it become legal to strap bomb about to get your debtors to pay you. Don't we seek redress in the courts anymore or ask to speak with somebody higher in the organisation with proof or even pray that God will touch whoever is owing you to respond favorably or God to give you wisdom to handle situations. IMHO this guy is NOT a religious fanatic of any sort, He is probably some incongruently mentally ill person.
FamilyRe: Why Don't Nigerian Parents Listen To Their Children? by mikeoscar: 2:20am On Jan 06, 2010
.
and what do the kids do when they hear or find out that their parents are turning to strangers for advice rather than talking with them them?
Getting angry and disappointed wont do much, let your cousin sit with her mum and talk.
@Ifyalways,
I think I like the way your mind works. I was just thinking if I was to counsel poster and Friend I will advise her friend/cousin pray and ask God for wisdom to deal with the situation and then discuss the matter with her mum while taking a listening position at first then calmly put your points across.

I have hadly known a parent who don't think they are acting in the interest of their kids no matter what they do. They tend to still put you in that cute little baby mould when they approach issues with you, at least most of the times, plus our cultural thing like some people have said.
PoliticsRe: Uk Whites Scampered For Safety After A Nigerian Identified Self At Train Station by mikeoscar: 12:01am On Jan 05, 2010
I haven't and won't read all the posts leading up to mine, so pardon me if I "step on toes" as I think I might with what I say.

First things first, Nigerians anywhere in the world should be able to tell anyone who starts to "misbehave" towards them because of this issue to go to hell and stay there, whether they wanna do it in a diplomatic manner or otherwise, whatever method you feel will get the message across best.

The fact that some fool tried to blow up a plane has ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with the fact that he is Nigerian, it has more and EVERYTHING to do with the fact that he is MUSLIM. end of story. He didn't try to blow up the plane because he feels that America is mistreating Nigerians in their country, or anywhere else, he did so cos he feels America and the west are treating MUSLIMS unfairly. So it is not a nationality issue, it is a RELIGIOUS issue. So Americans, and Britons and other nationals who act stupidly and act like fools towards Nigerians on this topic should wake up and smell the coffee.
All, This guy's made alot of sense here.

ANALYSING THE ROLE OF UMAR FAROUK ABDULMUTALLAB
Ladies and Gents, Fellow Nigerians and the World at large; please permit me your time and let us re-examine the role of UMAR FAROUK ABDUL MUTALLAB failed mission to attempt/ bomb the Detroit-bound Northwest Airlines Flight carrying 279 passengers and 11 crew members.
I have taken a keen time/ interest to read all comments and news report on this very ugly story and issues. However, something seems to be missing here.
From news report, (1) the parents was quoted as to have before this day alerted the Nigerian security and U.S  embassy in Abuja about his disappearance and sudden change in character.
(2) The Interpol, Nigerian security and the US were supposed to look into the report of the parents and track his movement since his parents have already expressed their fear.
(3) This same guy bought his ticket in Ghana, flew from Nigeria to Amsterdam with explosives and was not dictated till he tries to activate his bomb in the US while the plane is landing.
(4) He was in the toilet for more than 3o minutes and when he came out, he wrapped himself with blanket; when the airhostess saw fire on him, and was asked he said he has a bomb.
(5) Some guys descended on him, including a film director, he was overpowered and the fire extinguished. Etc.
In my opinion,   I think this was a staged game and a setup for the US to come on Africa/ else where to continue their war on fake terrorism. Why did he not prepare his bomb materials and do the business while on the air en-route to US.
If he actually wanted to die, which I doubt considering the amount of time he spent in the toilet; he would have done it even from there. However, we thank God it did not happen.
Now have anyone read the book by NAOMI KLEIN ‘’THE SHOCK DOCTRINE’’? This is all about CAPITALISM.
Please don’t misunderstand me, I am not a Muslim nor do I support TERRORISM, but I would rather look at things in a more critical form with an inner mind to understand the play of things. The world is crazy and they want to play us like games.

Think again.
To some extent. I second you. There is something fishy in the whole scenario. It looks like a planned job.
@Hoba,
You asked all the right questions and you bet most analysts and Journalists here in the U.S. have asked the same questions especially the one about why not blow the plane way before "ready for landing" or while in the cranky bathroom for 30mins. I live in Houston Tx and they have even traced some of His visit here for an islamic conference.

My answer is:

The whole philosophy of this new wave of terrorism is to make a more pronounced impact on the U.S. soil. Continue to take terrorism to the U.S. door steps andleave Americans in perpetual trepidation and you bet that's already working.

Secondly, The guy has Nigerian blood, we are not Somalis or some of those North Africans(Egyptians, Moroccans,Libyans or Algerians) known for stupid bravery.

Thirdly,  I guess also that the young man  did not have enough time to be brainwashed in Yemen so He flustered or "blushed" when it mattered most.

Finally, It has to be God, yes nothing but the pure manipulation of God to spare both his life and that of over 289 passengers onboard.
PoliticsRe: What Are The Consequences Of The Umar Farouk's Action On Nigeria? by mikeoscar: 7:36am On Dec 31, 2009
Hey guys look at the brighter side of this saga.
Nigerians will be under microscope all over the world and the result will be less 419 scams, less illegal immigrants etc. It will also mean less travel yonder for nigerians. Dubai will be a no go area for example. The boon here is it will affect us all including our theiving leadership and so thye have to spend their loot here.
Those hoping for a muslim/christian distinction in the eyes of americans are in for a shock. They dont care about your religion or crazy name. You are a nigerian and carry the green passport and thats it for them.
The north may be a hot bed for extreme religious views both muslim and christian but it is also the most tolerant and has been voted as the most business friendly. No wonder you find southerners all around. There are more southerners in the north than northerners in the south. They maintain businessess and enroll in schools all over.
Dowsnt this prove something?

How do you judge semblance really. He is not a uniformed man, no tribal marks, He is dark, tall and Ijaw, Well educated, does not wear googles to bed. Jonathan does not lead such a  reclusive existence like Abacha grin.

On a serious note, what do Vice Presidents actually do to highlight their potential giving the model of democracy we  ascribe to. Not even the current American Vice president can convince me in that role in terms of flashes of real potentials. Only Al Gore during the Clinton Administration and bet He messed-up the opportunity to show how He will handle crises during the , "I did not have , with that Woman , Monica , " speech. He chose to distance himself because of His political ambition and eventually lost support from within His party and most electorates in the U.S.

To day He is talking environment and doing well and that,  most people can relate to.

About 20 yrs ago when I was in secondary school I actually used that road to Ogoja from Lagos and almost everytime I arrived school or back home in Lagos I took ill for two days.

That road is one of the last standing trunk A roads long fogotten by FG of Nigeria. I have never passed through the road since my secondary school days but I stil get reports that the road is muddy, un-tarred and vehicles spend like two days or move before moving on.
