Nigeria has no answer to SA mechanised infantry. The later at its disposal has 60mm long range mortars,Anti-tank guided missiles,81mm mortars, automatic cannons which pierce T-55 armour, grenade launchers. A Nigeria soldier stepping out of his APC will feel like he can't on the amount of precise fire put on his unit. Shooting his AK-47 or supported by machine gunners in return his shot at by 40mm grenades(range:2km),assault rifles,60mm mortars(2km and 6km),81mm mortars, machine gun fire, cannon fire. SA infantry>Nigerian infantry. |

agaugust: Which South African infantry support weapon has range 10km ? Ingwe missile is longest and is 5km range.
Nigeria has Swingfire infantry missile 4km range and many infantry machine guns with 3km range and recoiless rifles with 7km range.
What make SANDF better? Nothing.
Show me your infantry 10km range weapon and I will match it with a Nigerian weapon too. I said infantry support weapons. The M5 120mm mortar can put shells 10km away. The M6 60mm long range mortar has a range of 6km. Enemy infantry soldier with wire guided missiles have to sit stationary for some time. Exposing him to shrapnel and bullets. Without superior infantry weapons he'll be pushed back to hide behind tanks or fight inside his APC or IFV exposing meaning your tanks will be expose and the mercy of anti-tank teams. What makes SANDF infantry better than Nigerian infantry.?-----» 1. Grenade launchers 2. Automatic grenade launchers. 3.Rifle grenades. 4. Mortars(some of which are long range). 5. Infantry fighting vehicles. 4. Missiles. 6. EW or intel systems. 7. APCs 8.Webbing 9. Fire power 10. Training. |

You South Africans are just a poorly-educated bunch of poor thinkers writing rubbish about Nigerian weapons.
Nigeria has two types of Bofors FH-77, we have both F-77A and F-77B versions. I have weblink sources.
Nigeria has 73 units of Bofors FH-77 artillery.
F-77B has been firing to range over 35km since 1999 Kargil war. Nigeria bought new batch after the war.
SIPRI is poor source of Nigerian weapons, screwed up the Bofors and Otomat.
Nigeria has both Otomat MK 1 and Mk 2.
Otomat Mk 1 range is 80 km without any helicopter guidance datalink.
Many African countries have datalink weapons and there is nothing special about datalink, it is just a communication device and not the monopoly of South Africa. Show me how Algeria, Egypt and Nigeria have no datalink you fools ! Even tiny Eritrea has datalink weapons.
Every Otomat missile ever built in this world has it's own internal datalink and that comes with it connected to the launcher.
I have sources, weblinks.
Nigeria has datalink. Otomat has datalink inside it for both MK 1 and Mk 2.
Infantry 150 ammo, USA carries 210 ammo, does SANDF carry up to that?
Nigeria mixes infantry weapons from range 300 meters to 3km, I have photos.
You SA mofos should show us proof that every navy frigate that is not photographed at sea every 6 months is not combat operational, we don't see photos of most world navy frigates at sea for years.
Later this weekend I will deal with these sources and photos, I don't want to start my day with some foolish South African dumbos. See you later.
[/size] Superior infantry weapons. The SANDF infantry and support weapons can hit targets with great precision up to: 6km-10km. Your army is still using mortars as defensive weapons. The British and Americans learned a lesson in Afghanistan. |

Henry120: S.F units are generally built around recce, and this is where the panhard, jackal and the likes are relevant, but I still maintain that they provide no protection whatsoever. Portable, mobility and speed. SA SF would at times even use quad bikes, mules, horses etc |

Henry120: It is infact very normal to see Special forces driving in pick-up trucks. Special forces are supposed to blend in with the rest of the population, and are low-profile.
I've pasted pictures in the past of American special forces driving in Pick-up trucks, same as these with GPMG's mounted on-top in Afghanistan. Same thing for british Special forces.
It is normal and has nothing to do with incompetence or being suicidal. This is the method to move around.
Although, I'll also like to see our S.F in Special forces vehicles, but those vehicles are primarily built for offence and provide no protection to the troops they're carrying. Also add to the fact that those vehicles are needlessly ridiculously expensive.
The french panhard SPV used by french S.F in mali costs 400,000 euros per unit.
The british jackal SPV(2nd picture) costs 2 million pounds per unit.
It just doesn't worth it. Vehicles like the panhard,Jackal and hornet. Are mainly used for reconnaissance missions. The SA special forces used the Hornet in CAR,during an open engagement and didn't take any casualties. |

Henry120: It is heartening to read that, there is actual joint collaboration between the defence industry of nigeria and south-africa.
The IKRI-7 is a jointly developed APC for the nigerian police, and a very welcome development for both the nigerian and south-african defence industries.
The europeans jointly built and deploy the IVECO LAV, I don't see why a jointly built south-african/nigerian IKRI-7 should also not be freely used across both police and military forces across the continent. Pathetic,if you ask me. Joint development should on the Brazil-South Africa A-Darter AAM development level, between the two. Though Nigeria is struggling with a tight budget, cooperation with SA would really be beneficial for both. Nigeria can stop relying on China and others whom will sell you weapons but you'll be left to deal with future maintains problems. The IKRI-7(likely a Springbuck variant) faces tough competition from other vehicles from companies like Mechem(Denel),IVEMA,Land systems(RG series)............. It will be difficult selling it. With the amount of surplus American MRAPS also available. |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 9:29pm On Jul 02, 2014 |
agaugust: Are you blind to read or too dull to understand...or both?
I said which war has SANDF not old SADF fought on a large scale fighting alone not under UN/Tanzanian leadership, fought all alone in the last 20 years to test and prove the current combat capability of South Africa's fresh recruit inexperienced military of today 2014, which war? You nation of cowards afraid to face Seleka rebels, abandoned a fellow African nation in her time of Need. Nigeria traveled over 2,000 km away from home with fifteen battalions of soldiers to save Liberia and Sierra Leone in 10 years of daily constant war.
The Boer White-man owned SADF that fought SWAPO and ANC 20 years ago was disbanded by Mandela and many too old, many dead, many retired, many ran away overseas afraid of Zulu revenge threat...95% of the experienced South African soldiers of SADF are NOT NOT NOT NOT and I mean NOT in the current SANDF military today.
South Africa as a nation is not qualified to judge Nigerian military performance, we are consistent in fighting war from 1990 to 2014 with 24 years experience...SANDF has ZERO experience in that area.
So you South African nation of cowards should just close your basket mouth and sharaaaap !
. 2 questions: 1. Who commanded SA troops back in 98 in Lesotho. 2. Who commanded SA troops in last year in CAR. Sierra Leone? Here's link for you: thevelvetrocket.com/2012/01/21/quote-of-the-day-executive-outcomes/ |
Foreign Affairs › Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by MikeZA: 9:23pm On Jul 02, 2014 |
agaugust: Seleka is not a guerrilla force doing hit and run, using women as suicide bombers. SANDF has not been tested against suicide bombers like America, NATO, Algeria, and Nigeria.
Don't claim you are good at a game you have never played before.
Nigerian army infantry will do better against Seleka than South Africa, they won't surrender or run to France at the airport, we will fight out way through Seleka and look for a bush to regroup and be covered. We will turn those 250 men into jungle warriors and Seleka will keep busy while we radio Abuja for reinforcement, 250 Nigerian soldiers will dribble Seleka around the bush until help comes.
Weapons? Nigeria has those infantry weapons you think we don't have, minus multiple grenade launchers, we have 1km to 3km infantry rifles and mini-knee mortars and I will post them here this week, photos from the North East battle field, guns Nigeria has that is not known to public before now, and mortars made in Nigeria that DICON does not talk about in public. SANDF=SADF,MK,APLA etc. Worthy in knowledge about guerrilla warfare. Regarding Seleka. Your soldiers carry: 1 Rifle and 150 rounds tell us how that can see them through a 9 hour high tempo battle. Your army like with most armies use mortars as defensive system not offensive. SA has better infantry weapons. |

It seems the nairaland.com attack affected badly your psyche. Nope. The Nigerian army wants to fight like some rich powerful armies but your military is badly funded and ill equipment. I still don't understand why your army isn't mortars to support units. Since your army doesn't have systems like automatic grenade launchers and other heavy infantry weapons to enable them to be a superior position during battles. If it was Nigerian troops in CAR facing Selaka last year........................................ |

agaugust: Dude, stop repeating same old story like a born stammerer, Islamic insurgents have confidently attacked America, they took over American air space in September 11 and b.lew up world trade center in New York city in broad day light.
Al Qaeda attacks US Marines bases confidently in Afghanistan. Algeria is still being attacked, Egypt is now on the list of victims.
about 4,000 USA/NATO/Coalition/Afghan army soldiers were confidently k.illed by Islamic insurgents in Afghanistan war in just about 11 years, well Nigerian soldiers killed by Boko in 4 years is not even up to 300 men, so what does those figures tell you in comparison?
What is your opinion about American/NATO forces performance in Afghanistan and Iraq ? What is your comment about the great Egyptian army and air force being k.illed at home by insurgents?
What large scale heavily armed insurgency is South African military fighting now at home for us to measure your own current SANDF capability, I mean capability as at today with today's soldiers in your army ?
If you want to resume this thread with sens.eless posts I will just box you in same tincan with @CraigB . SWAPO,ANC,ZANU,AZAPO plus more were well funded and better equipped than Boko Haram. All we know is that your army is hiding figures cause your country would be shocked to know, that you're losing many soldiers. Boko Haram has killed and kidnapped more than 700 people this year. |

War happens in a war zone or where else do you expect it? Even Egypt is under attack now and Egyptian army soldiers are getting killed....so what is the noise about Nigeria?
Insurgents sho.t down Egyptian air force helicopter this very year.

Dude abeg, find another song to sing, Nigerian military is doing as good as any other military in this world against insurgency, the Americans and British have been hunting Boko Haram for the past one whole month and found nothing with all their technology.
Please shut your mou.th mister buff.oon and find a solution to your South African military that has 95% of its soldiers on zero combat experience, boasting about a stalemated war with Cuba that you failed to win and ended about 20 years ago. Go find a big war for your current SANDF to fight and stop making noise about M23 Rebels that are fighting against about 12 countries from Africa, Europe and Asia all at the same time.

EGYPTIAN POLICE STATION B.LOWN TO PIECES BY TERRORISTS ATTACK
https://www.aawsat.net/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Egypt-Mansoura-Bomb.jpg . Terrorism isn't some "unique phenomenon" only experienced in Nigeria. Countries like India,Egypt and China are faced with terrorism. What's sad about Nigeria is that you're failing to curb attacks by BH,this year alone more than 700 civilians have been killed or kidnapped by the group. The British and Americans aren't really dedicated to look for those girls it just a "symbolic thing". Go ask the Ugandans. M23+Rwanda faced FIB(SA,Tanzania and Malawi) and FARDC. Go find information about the "Battle of Kibati". The SANDF is more experience than your military from COIN-AT,Conventional warfare etc. |

Totally incapable,it is like your doctrine was drawn up by some western army or defence force.
