Do you have joint bills or bank accounts? Do you have a tenancy agreement/payments in your joint names? Evidence of living at the same address is also required ie. Same address on your driver's licence, voter's card, bank statements, correspondence from your doctor etc. These should ideally cover the last 2 years, if possible. The above documents in addition to other documents that can prove that you have a genuine and subsisting relationship in addition to a cover letter explaining the background of and circumstances surrounding your relationship to enable the ECO make a favorable decision. Note that getting a visa via this route is at the discretion of the ECO and is dependent on how well you are able to prove that your relationship is genuine and not as a means to bypass the immigration rules Towotowo: |
1. Yes, you can but for your sister, you will need your parents' death certificates, her birth certificate (with your parents listed as hers and as a link to the death certificates), your birth certificate (to show that you've got same parents), a court document showing that you have parental responsibility for your sister and evidence that you've been the sole person taking care of her ie. Tuition fee payments, letter from her school/doctor stating her residential address is same as yours and that you're the parent figure on file for her. If you can adopt her, you wouldn't need the above but it's a lengthy and stressful process in Nigeria. You will need your son's birth certificate in addition to the consent letter from his father. You'll also need proof of funds for both of them up to a maximum of 9 months and their passports. 2. I think it's possible since you've got some experience in the health sector. You'll need to have a certain number of hours in the field depending on what course you're looking at but some will require you to have done some science-related courses. Check the website of schools that match your criteria for their entry requirements. 3. Yes, you're allowed but if you're looking at meeting the long residence requirements which is usually 10 years, there's a limit to the time that you can spend outside the UK. If you get a T2 sponsorship at the end of your course (which effectively puts you on the 5-year route), the time spent in/out of the UK while on the student visa doesn't matter. 4. Depends on the intake you're looking at. Some apply as long as a year before the course to up to a month before to give you time for your visa processing. Menab: |
No, that was a typo, the A&E in brackets was supposed to go elsewhere. Clarification: Appointments are for GP and general hospital visits/health checks which is why I said except it's an emergency because it's not needed for A&E which are for emergencies. The distinction was for the OP not to confuse a general hospital visit with a trip to A&E. For those not in emergency situations but with pre-existing conditions like the OP, there's a provision for them to get hospital/GP appointments/referrals and help on e-consult. LagosismyHome: |
You will have to call or fill a pre-appointment form depending on what your condition is. The online form will ask you about your general health and any Covid-19 like symptom after which you'll be contacted by the appropriate health professional. Except it is an emergency, you shouldn't go to a GP or hospital without an appointment especially when you're supposed to be isolating. For emergencies, go to A&E but if you have any covid-like symptoms and you're able to call ahead, pls inform them of this. As per GP registration concerns, you can pre-register online with a GP in your postcode while in isolation but for the full registration after isolation, you'll need your passport/BRP to prove your ID and a proof of address (you can use your tenancy agreement for this if you have one or get a letter from your school to confirm this). Samgalaxy: |
Yes, it does. It covers all your medical treatments and consultations except for prescriptions (except family planning meds), dental and eye checks. Samgalaxy: |
You shouldn't bother about these things as they are easily obtainable here. Haven't seen bournvita in a long while but milo is aplenty, you can get in African stores and some grocery stores like Iceland and Tesco at around £3.50. If you don't mind substituting, you can try Morrisons 400g hot chocolate which gives Cadbury chocolate (400g for about £3) a run for its money even though it's cheaper at 95p. You can also try Stockwell chocolate from Tesco (375g at 88p) which is good but not quite as good as the Morrisons and Cadbury chocolate. Don't waste your luggage space biko. Iwonder: |
I'm not sure as I haven't tried travelling with it across borders and it isn't explicitly mentioned in the guide even though it makes references to plant based products. happiezikpe: |
No, you can't bring in milk from outside the EU and Switzerland as the only dairy products allowed are powdered infant milk, infant food, and special foods needed for medical reasons. I don't think you should stress with vegetable oil as this can spill; a 5-litres bottle of vegetable/sunflower oil is about £3.50 - £4.00 at Iceland, Morrisons and most other stores. happiezikpe: |
Yes, you have to. Since you have some amount covered by the scholarship, you will only need to submit the scholarship letter showing this along with your bank statement showing the balance which isn't covered by the scholarship. TheLasyBuddha: |
Yes, the application will be denied if the funds are less than what you require. The student visa requirement is different from visit visa requirements, it's not concerned with activity or inflow into an account. The money required has to be in the account for at least 28 days before an application is submitted online and if this rule is not met, it's an auto refusal. TheLasyBuddha: |
The scholarship funds are insufficient. The student, your girlfriend, has to show £1,023 monthly * 9 months for maintenance (excluding fees which should already be covered by the scholarship) while you as the dependant, will need to show £680 monthly * 9 months. You'll have to support the scholarship letter with your bank statement showing the cost deficit for at least 28 days prior to your application. Also, for you to apply as her dependant, you will need to provide variety of documents to prove that you've lived together and that you've been in a genuine relationship for the last 2 years. This usually includes and isn't limited to, joint account statement, joint utility bills, account statements showing that your addresses are the same, driver's licence showing both of you as living at the same address, evidence of things you've paid for together, and joint tenancy agreement amongst other documents. A cover letter detailing how you met and your relationship specifics is also advised to enable the ECO understand the relationship in relation to your application. Each case using this approach will be treated on a case by case basis. In my opinion, you'll be better off joining her as a married partner as proving that you've been in a genuine relationship (in this context) in a country like Nigeria is usually difficult because it's not commonplace for partners to pay jointly for bills, rent and the likes. This makes it difficult to get the required documents to prove this. Is there any reason why you aren't committed enough to marry her but committed enough to travel with her? Are you making the application in order to circumvent the student visa rules after you arrive the UK? Sorry if these questions seem intrusive but these are some of the likely questions that will likely occur to the ECO seeing as there's a large pool of Nigerian applicants and in most cases, this kind of situation isn't the norm among Nigerian visa applicants. Big hug for you. It will definitely get better. I understand how you feel because I was there 2ce in the last 2 months. Couldn't hug, cuddle, kiss or even touch same things without wiping. First, when my mum, hubby and I took ill (we eventually tested positive for covid with the exception of my lil one), we had to keep reminding my lil one not to come close to us or hug us or any of the normal things she did. Second, when someone in her class bubble tested positive and she had to stay home. She ended up missing school for a total of about 5 weeks this term. wallg123: |

No. It's an affordable Chinese all you can eat restaurant. Needed to host a group of 20 and WhiteHart's offerings were not it at the time so I switched. DisGuy: |
Thank you. It's Airtel. Will check if they have this option so I can subscribe to it, their self service portal is misbehaving at the moment. Braket: |

The rejection mail doesn't always arrive before pick up mail, it sometimes comes days after the applicant has picked up his/her passport. legendarycrypto: |
Okay. I'll definitely check them out once the restrictions are eased because I still need my Naija number, can't lose it now after the stress of loading it and using it for a call every 3-6 months. dustydee: |
Oh! I forgot about the whiteHart restaurant opposite the post office, i remember ditching them when i got a better offer from Twin Towers in Bexleyheath due to the limited offerings at a high cost at the time. I only remembered K's Spice because I've eaten there before. Will definitely try them out when I can. Edit: Twin palace, not Twin towers. DisGuy: |
Not sure but I'm guessing it's offline except they can use previous details registered for BVN, passport etc.. I just attached a screenshot of the licenced registration partners to my previous post. Info is also available here: https://www3.nimc.gov.ng/diaspora/ LagosismyHome: |
Cost about $50 to register in countries outside Africa. LagosismyHome:

I understand. We can only hope that life gets back to normal soon so kids get back to being kids and ensuring that we get our lives back. Mimzyy: |
Erith is actually a nice place to live in and aside from being able to order on uber eats, it also has a fair number of African stores (body care, hair care and raw foods) at the town centre, only two Naija restaurant that I know of (K's Spice and WhiteHart) there though. LagosismyHome: |
You had mind o Went the last year with my LO but I didn't even bother making plans for this year to avoid stories that touch even though my LO was hoping that I would change my mind. And now I can't have family over because we are in tier 4. Mimzyy: |
Only the money you require must be untouched, any excess above that can be transacted (debited or credited). For example, if you need N10m and you have about N10m or more in your account, you can carry out other transactions but the money in your account must not fall below N10m at any point during your 28-day count. I don't have a ready list but I know that for Anglia Ruskin University and University of Kent, if you get your personal statement right, you can secure admission with a 3rd class. Same with some schools that require a minimum of 2:2. You just have to be able to sell your skills and suitability on your application and personal statement. YEAEMEDIA: |
I'm glad to be of help. justwise: |
Thank you. LagosismyHome: |
Some schools will accept your for Masters (depending on the course) if you can prove that your professional, volunteer and life experiences will make you a suitable candidate for a course. YEAEMEDIA: |
