Parents' death certificate, the child's birth certificate showing the dead people as her parents, a court order granting you parental responsibility or adoption documents. Also, proof that the child has been living with you and that you've been solely responsible for the child.

Abort! Abort biometrics appointment mission!! Wait until your POF is mature before you submit your application and start checking for appointment dates, please.
JaySterling:
Guys, I need urgent advice, my proof of fund have not matured at all, still in the 2nd day

And I need to book application for biometrics on time because of lack of available dates

Please what do I do

I am aware one cannot book biometrics without starting the visa application and paying visa fees and one cannot start visa application without proof of funds being in the 28th day

Please help! I am confused
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by mimilyrics: 3:48pm On Nov 09, 2022
Looks like the information has been updated to include QLife, St Nicholas and the Consultant's Practice in addition to IOM due to the high demand of tests and the appointment issues with getting it done at IOM.
JaySterling:
I had to ask because someone mentioned IOM only is accepted
Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by mimilyrics: 3:22pm On Nov 08, 2022
1. Use her email but you can complete the application for her from the UK - Please make sure that all is filled correctly, she should also look it over before submitting.
2. Once documents are uploaded online, she doesn't need to take them for biometrics.
3. If there's anything that isn't clear on the application, explain with a cover letter.
Techangels:
For those who have successfully applied for spousal visa need you input.

I am a British citizen in the uk. I will be sponsoring my wife’s visa shortly.

I have accommodation,
marriage certificate from ikoyI registry,
pictures of visit to Nigeria before marriage,
pictures of visit to Dubai after marriage after she was refused visit visa to uk due to financial reasons( she wanted to surprise me so applied for visit visa)
WhatsApp chat and WhatsApp call records.
I also have a job and meet the income threshold as I earn £27k annually (6months payslip)

She currently has no university degree yet and also I can’t afford a lawyer in the uk due to the cost . Costing about £3000 just the application and his feee. So looking to do it myself.

Will I be the one using my email to do the application from the UK ?
Or will I be the one doing the application but with her email as if she is the one applying herself due to the internet issues in Nigeria ?
If I am the one doing it I will be uploading all my documents and our marriage certificate online. So when she goes for biometric will they ask her for the documents again ? This is because I have them all with me in the uk.

In light of above a any other documents needed from me or her ? Apart from the TB test and the English test she has to do in Nigeria ?

I would appreciate input from those who have done it themselves without lawyers and how they went about it.

Thanks

If you haven't paid, Start a new application.
If you have paid and you have extra cash or can afford to wait, cancel and reapply immediately. If not, you can include a cover letter with your application as a last resort.

1. Check for the payment logos on the payment page, if amex isn't listed, you might not be able to use it.
2. Date of issue - usually the date the decision is made.
3. You should be able to. Once you submit, you'll be told the next steps to complete.
4. Depends on each individual application. Might be faster or slower depending on different factors.
5. Yes but you need to check what each provider offers and the connection in your area. Used to have one with BT but that was with a landline - not sure what they offer now.
You can check out vodafone - https://www.vodafone.co.uk/broadband-sim-only-deals
Your best bet might be to take out your wifi and phone contracts separately as that might end up being cheaper depending on usage/plan.
Maturedhustler:

I was working with this strategy to possibly get sponsored between now and January and if that failed, take PSW option by January 2023 close to expiration of current BRP date.

It’s been tough seeing any company willing to take new employee with less than 6 months to leave to remain date.

I guess right thing to do now is to take PSW on time and be in better position for other opportunities. Aunty Stella dey one corner too grin undecided

I will be glad those who knows/recently completed PSW application can help me answer below questions:

1. Can I pay for PSW application with AMEX card? Preparing my options and strategy
2. Which date will be on new BRP? Date of application or when the visa is issue?
3. Will I be able to complete my dependents (husband and kids) online or have to visit a VFS for biometrics? What’s the experience like?
4. I have read different date to complete this PSW application (2days and 4-8weeks)? Which one is correct or it depends on individual application.
5. Not related to PSW. Is there any mobile company that offers family package of home WiFi and multiple sims (4-5) for mobile phones?

Trying to see if I can save money from combination of Vodafone and giff gaff for family.

Thanks in advance.

Check the correctness of your ACL code with your sponsor after checking that you've selected all the right options. Just so you know though, your sponsor isn't a post office location.
Salami71:

But it showed me this after inputting my sponsor ..
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by mimilyrics: 3:31pm On Nov 04, 2022
Yes. Fee balance + monthly maintenance * 9
magnifico1:
if I understood you correctly, my school fees is £5,500, I have paid £1k, so what is remaining is £4,500. Does this mean I will have to plus £4,500 to the cost of living expense for UK Visa applicants for one year?
And how much is the estimate cost of living used by the Embassy pls
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by mimilyrics: 3:30pm On Nov 04, 2022
I don't see the question here - you have already selected the ACL and inputted your sponsor's ACL code so you're good to go.
Salami71:
Please where should I choose ?
Travel / Re: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 8 by mimilyrics: 10:24am On Nov 04, 2022
You'd have to apply per normal. The child's US passport only qualifies the child to visit the UK for up to 6 months as a tourist but not to live in the UK so the child normally needs to make a dependant application from outside the UK.
fab11:
Hi, please does anyone know the process for applying for an infant with a US citizenship as a dependent to a student who are both in the UK already.

No, You don't. Sole custody is only required if the other parent is still alive. The death certificate is sufficient.

Please I just got this mail ….what should I do?

Thank you for applying for a UK visa. Your visa application has been received and is under consideration. We aim to process non settlement applications within 15 working days (unless you have opted for the Priority Visa service), and settlement applications within 120 working days.

Unfortunately, the processing of your application has not been straightforward and we will be unable to decide your application within our customer service targets. We are continuing to work on your application and aim to make a decision as soon as possible.

We will write to you again if there is any change to this. Please do not attend the Visa Application Centre until you have been advised that your application has been decided and that your passport is ready for collection.

Kind Regards,

Book the test for February 2023 and keep checking for earlier dates. For one of the bookings I made a few weeks ago, it was initially a Feb 2023 date at a far-away centre. Kept checking and was eventually able to get another date in Nov, then Oct and then Sept a week before the test date. So keep checking - new dates are released at 6am every Monday; mostly dates 5-6 months in the future but a few are within 3 months. On other days and at random times, closer dates are released.
You can also use the "Driving test now" (costs £17.99) or "Testi" (costs £5-7) apps. These apps brought cancellation notifications but were mostly unable to book. Driving test now will refund you if you aren't able to find and book an earlier date with their app.

I didn't say that they ask but if it proves the genuineness of the relationship alongside other documents, there is no reason not to.
viqueta136:
They don’t request for chat history, just send your TB test result, marriage cert and 1 month bank statement with both the visa page and passport data page of your partner.
Travel / Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 5 by mimilyrics: 9:25am On Sep 01, 2022
Yes, you need a TB test since you are resident in Nigeria. You can submit chats with your husband along with other evidence types.

Travel / Re: UK Spouse Visa/Appeal Process-part2 by mimilyrics: 9:18am On Sep 01, 2022
Yes, your lawyer is right. You can't switch to spouse visa from a visiting visa from within the UK, you have to apply from your home country if on a visiting visa and you need IELTS if you don't have a UK degree or a degree from an English-speaking country as classified by UKVI.
AHUPEACE:

Wow my husband is an EU citizen who has indefinite leave to remain in the Uk,I met an immigration lawyer here in the Uk who told me to go back to Nigeria to apply because I’m here in the Uk with visiting visa and I’m paying for the spousal visa fee and IHS which is almost £3000. Which category of spouse visa did you apply for And the lawyer told me that IELTs exam is compulsory

What's your budget?
There used to be "homestamp kent" website which was run by UKC, CCCU & UCA and which made it easier to get student accommodation locally but it was closed down in 2020. This has now been replaced by https://canterburystudentpad.co.uk/Accommodation which is Kent Union and Local Landlords.
You can check Palamon Court ( https://www.crm-students.com/student-accommodation/canterbury/palamon-court-canterbury/ ) between the Canterbury East train station and the city centre if money isn't an issue. You can also check Clare Ellen Guest House ( http://www.clareellenguesthouse.co.uk/ ) on Victoria road - the owner used to have a house that he rented out to students back then; if he doesn't own it anymore, he might be able to point you to the right direction.
You can check "University of Kent Freshers 2022" on Facebook - housing information is usually posted there.
You can try this too: https://www.studenttenant.com/
Otherwise, check the front windows of the store in the city centre for rental adverts or go to the Kent Union office at the Mandela Centre

Contacting UKVI about you visa application: https://www.gov.uk/contact-ukvi-inside-outside-uk/y
GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS:

1. Your academic transcript.
2. Your CV/resume (postgraduate study).
3. Copy of your passport.
4. Reference/recommendation letters/Contacts. Many schools take recommendations by email – they ask you for your recommender(s)’s emails and send them the link to fill in their recommendations. Alternatively, you can send a scanned copy of the recommendation letter on the letter-headed paper of your recommender’s company via email or upload via the student portal depending on your school.
5. A personal statement. This is your opportunity to sell yourself as an excellent fit for the school/course.
6. An English language qualification such as IELTS, SSEC or WAEC C6 or above or TOEFL. Some schools accept a letter from your previous institutions stating that you were fully taught in English. Find out what your school will accept from you.
Note: Many schools will require you to submit the bank statement or the proof of funds that you want to use before issuing your CAS.
Also, have your travel history at hand as many schools will like to know if you have been refused visas previously and why to enable them to gauge your success at getting a visa. Declaring refusals to schools and UKVI doesn’t mean that your visa application will be rejected, it only means that some schools might decline your application due to the risk of your student refusal as a means to retain the integrity of their admission/CAS issuance processes as certain refusals cast negative light on the integrity of their processes.

REQUIREMENTS FOR STUDENT VISA
Application link: https://www.gov.uk/student-visa/apply

4. TB test result (from IOM only). See booking details here: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/tuberculosis-test-for-a-uk-visa-clinics-in-nigeria/tuberculosis-testing-in-nigeria#attending-the-clinic

This should be evidence in your account/your parents’ accounts/sponsorship letter/ loan letter.

6. Maintenance requirement: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/financial-evidence-for-student-and-child-student-route-applicants
a. £1,334 monthly (for up to 9 months) for within London (this includes schools in the Greater London area and all the London boroughs). This means that you need to show £1,334 * 9 (£12,006) for your maintenance.
b. £1,023 monthly (for up to 9 months) for outside London. This means that you need to show £1,023*9 (£9,207) for your maintenance.

The money must be kept in the account for at least 28 days before application; the end of the 28 days must not be older than 31 days before your application.
Note: Your application date is the date of your online submission, not your biometrics date.
The only family members that can sponsor you (give you their account statement to use) are your parents or legal guardian(s).
If using your parents' account(s), you need your birth certificate which has your parents' name as your parents to prove your relationship to them.
Note: You can only use your partner’s money if your partner is present in the UK or applying at the same time as you.

If using your guardian's statement, you need to include a court document appointing the person as your guardian. This guardian must have been appointed by the court when you were below 18 years.
Note 1: If your funds are held in an account that is not in £, the ECO will convert the funds in your account using the exchange on the day of your online application as calculated on: https://www1.oanda.com/currency/converter/
Note 2: You cannot use overdrafts, bitcoin savings, stocks and shares, pensions, bank accounts that are not regulated by the financial regulatory body in the country you’re applying from or bank accounts that don’t use electronic record keeping.
Note 3: You can use current accounts, deposit accounts, savings accounts, pension savings, investment accounts.
Note 4: When paying your visa/HIS fees, your bank will not use Oanda rates. Budget for black market rates.
Note 5: Please leave your funds in your account till you get your visa to avoid stories that touch. If it is used to pay your fees, you must have the receipt ready incase the ECO requests for a fresh bank account statement covering longer periods.
Note 6: Prepare for an interview even if the possibility is low so that you are ready for any eventuality.

b. You can also submit a sponsorship letter (see sample here: https://docs.gre.ac.uk/rep/sas/example-sponsorship-letter ) if you're sponsored by
i. Her Majesty’s (UK) Government
ii. The applicant’s home (Nigerian, in this case) government
iii. the British Council
iv. an international organisation eg. UNICEF, UN, WHO etc.
v. an international company (a company that actively operates in 2 or more countries)
vii. a university (eg. The university where you will be studying).
viii. a UK independent school.

c. Loan letter, if you are in receipt of an educational loan. The loan must be in your name. See link for details: https://www.gov.uk/guidance/financial-evidence-for-student-and-child-student-route-applicants
Note: The loan letter must confirm that there are no conditions on release of the loan funds other than a successful application to study.
It must also confirm that the funds will be available to you, or paid directly to the sponsor, before you begin your course.

8. Consent letter: You'll also need a letter from your parent(s) or guardian that states that they consent to you using the funds in the account for which evidence has been submitted. This is only applicable if using their bank statements. See sample here: https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.westminster.ac.uk/sites/default/public-files/general-documents/Example%2520of%2520parent%2520consent%2520letter.doc&ved=2ahUKEwjVuYnvs9rtAhX7UxUIHR04C3cQFjALegQIBxAB&usg=AOvVaw23ibrOLrlQod4FOobTdsJp

9. ATAS certificate, if your course requires it.

10. Consent letter: Under 18s will also need a consent letter from both parents and/or their guardian consenting to their visa application, their living arrangements in the UK and their travel to the UK. See example here (edit as required): http://documents.manchester.ac.uk/display.aspx?DocID=29499
https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/ssid/immigration/tier-4-application/supporting-documents#consent

Graduate visa (after successfully completing your studies) https://www.gov.uk/graduate-visa
Cost: Visa - £715 + IHS (£624 per year * 2 for Masters programmes and £624 per year * 3 for PhDs) = £1,963 (Masters) and £2,587 (PhDs). This visa can’t be extended, you’ll need to migrate to another visa that allows you to work and live in the UK eg. Skilled worker visa, Innovator visa, Global Talent visa, any family route visa etc.

FOR DEPENDANTS: Your family should ideally be in the UK as your dependant under the Student visa for them to qualify as your dependants under the Graduate visa route. This means that they must apply to join you more than 6 months to the end of your course since IHS isn’t charged and BRPs are not issued for any visa below 6 months. If your dependants apply when you have less than 6 months to the end of your course, it means that they won’t be charged IHS and if they need medical attention, they might need to pay out of pocket. Also, proving their right to work might be difficult with this – anyone who has applied less than 6 months to the end of the main applicant’s visa should please state their experience for others to gain from.
a. Spouses only: Marriage certificate.
b. Spouses and Children: Maintenance evidence: Bank statement showing £845 monthly * 9 months (£7,605) for within London or £680 monthly * 9 months (£6,120) for outside London. This must be in the account for at least 28 days; the end of the 28 days must not be older than 31 days before your application.

For dependant spouses, the money can be in your account or your partner's account.
For dependant children, the money can be in either parent's account.
Note: If applying shortly after the main applicant, be ready to show evidence of the main applicant’s funds (ie. Bank statements showing that he/she still has part of the money that hasn’t been spent on tuition or living expenses, rent/tuition receipts and any other document to prove that the money is not being recycled).

c. Spouses and children: TB test certificate (From IOM only)

d. Your child(ren) only: Child(ren)'s birth certificate showing you as their parent.
Note: If you’re taking care of a family member who’s now like a child to you and you’d like to take this child with you to the UK, you must provide an adoption certificate, court document showing that you have been appointed as the child’s legal guardian or granting you parental responsibility over the child.
These documents must be dated before the child turns 18 (ideally while the child is under age 16).

Note: For single parents who want to travel with their under-18 child(ren) but not with the child(ren)'s other parent, you will need a death certificate, sole custody order or any other legal document that shows that the child(ren)'s other parent isn't in the picture anymore.
Also, having detailed childcare plans while you study helps – contact nurseries/schools around your area to give you an idea of how to weave this into your application.
