TravelRe: Living In The Uk/life As A UK Immigrant by mimilyrics: 4:13pm On Jun 24, 2020
My friend had this to say (she's currently student ambassador there):

Well, Stirling is quiet and not so metropolitan, there are jobs but not as much as u will find in Glasgow or Edinburgh as competition is high and less commercial activity. The good news is it's really close to the other 2 cities and one can take a job there as well and live in stirling.
For students, there are more of care jobs, retail stores (very competitive) and restaurants and of course, Amazon.
But it might not be forthcoming as soon as might be expected but from January, more opportunities open up due to international students going back to their countries and leaving their jobs.
On children school: well, I don't have children in school there but I have colleagues who do as well, I would want to believe its same standard as with the whole of UK.. You might just want to find out about locations before they rent house too

mamacajah:
hmm..thanks.you are a life saver! seems like it's either glasgow or northumbria for her..I will give her the feedback..

I've got a friend who is a current Stirling student and about jobs, she said there aren't too many jobs and most times working in Glasgow is more like it. Would ask her for more info and get back to you.
mamacajah:
Is there anyone living in Stirling, Scotland? Looking for indepth information on jobs, children schools for a prospective student come September..thanks.

No, you don't need that once all the required funds are in your account for the stipulated period. You only need sponsor SOA and letter if your parents are sponsoring you and the money (your full tuition fee or balance + maintenance) is in their account(s).

Oluwanifemi34:
If my sponsor transfer this 13m Naira to my account and spend 28 days, when applying for visa, do I still need my sponsor SOA or any letter from my sponsor ?

It suffices as long as the church is licensed to conduct wedding ceremonies.

nwendujudy:
Thanks for the reply. Meanwhile we have only wedded in Catholic Church, does marriage certificate issued by Catholic Church suffice? Alternatively, if no, Marriage certificate Issued by a local government, does it suffice as well?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 9:32pm On Jun 22, 2020
1. You don't need a newspaper publication; your wedding certificate (in addition to other evidence) is okay to show marital links for your T4 visa and you're not required to change your name after marriage.
2. I guess you mean tier 4. Using your maiden name won't be an obstacle.
3. You'd need to show that the funds you require have been held in your account in the manner specified by UKVI. Finding a job ASAP will be dependant on your location; sometimes, it takes more than a month to find a job. Even if you do find a job as soon as you arrive, it might only be just enough for your bills/maintenance. Making enough money before your tuition payment deadline will be difficult on a 20-hour minimum wage job plus you'd be too worried about your fees to be able to effectively engage with your course.
If you get a minimum wage (£8.72) job, you'll be making 174.4 per week and £697.6 per month minus rent and bills of about £290-450 (assuming you get a room in a shared house inclusive of bills) plus estimated food and transport costs of about £150 and have just about £50 leftover per month which is not even close to a quarter of what your outstanding fees will be.
nwendujudy:
Hello all,

Please I have question to ask for those of that live/study in the UK.

Firstly, i got admission in the university of Liverpool, and would want to travel with my spouse For study. My passport is still bearing my maiden name, though I have done the newspaper publication for change of name. I want to know if it will raise a red flag or not or should I just renew the passport? I got married in 2016,and renewed my passport last year in my maiden name

Secondly, if I’m not traveling with him as a third tier dependent, will using a passport bearing my maiden name be an obstacle of any sort?

Thirdly, I am not so buoyant but can pay my initial tuition deposit, and the deposit to be made upon arrival, is England a place one can possibly get a job and foot her other bills?

Thanks for your anticipated response.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 8:56pm On Jun 22, 2020
I think you need to know what you want to do first (visit, study or work) before you can proceed. I would advise that you give your self 6 months to tidy up your personal/business finance (to avoid explaining having to use business funds for your travel) since it seems that you've settled for a visit visa from your response.
Note that you can't switch to another visa from a visit visa while in the UK and if you're caught working on it, it would bring up issues. You wouldn't be able to stay back to study via a visit visa too; once you overstay your visa, it can be a long, harrowing experience.

Check and post in the link below for visit visa enquiries if that's what you are settling for

A Nigerian employer can't sponsor a UK work visa except they have a subsidiary + T2 license in the UK.
Aside from the money, the rules have changed a lot with lots of restrictions as a result of human trafficking amongst other reasons. You can now only spend 6 months in the UK on the domestic worker visa (you'd also need to have worked as a help for 1 year prior to application) and it's subject to your employer's stay in the UK. If you're looking at moving to the UK, biko negodu that route. Pls don't be too desperate to move from Nigeria to avoid falling victim of misrepresentation, scams or other undesirable schemes.

Your friend's company can sponsor you to study in the UK if it's an international company; the company can't sponsor your visa as a domestic staff without justifying it with payslips, employment confirmation e.t.c.
If you're interested in a visit visa, ensure that your company is paying you (pay yourself a salary even if you are a sole proprietorship) because a company's funds isn't for personal use. You can back your personal account showing your salary for 6 months + your company docs. This shows that you have funds available to you + ties that to Nigeria.
If you would like to study, you can but you'd need to do your findings and be prepared for the attendant financial investment required. Don't make any decision in a hurry to avoid filling in information that could come back to bite you in the a**.

You need to apply for a tier 4 visa to study in the UK; It enables you to work 20 hours during term time.

First you'll need to know what course you'd like to study and search for schools with your course on offer as advised by duchess90. Don't just do a course because you want to study abroad.

It's not same fee across universities. The £15,000 is an estimate for 1-year tuition fees (it could be lower or higher) so if your course is for 1 year at 15k, you'd need to show £15,000 + 9 months maintenance (£1,015*9 for outside London and £1,265*9 for London). You'd also need IHS for 1 year (currently £300 per year + £150 for any extra time 6 months and below), TB test fees of about N60,000 for TB test in Nigeria + ticket fare + visa fees of £348.

If it's a 3-year course multiply £15,000 by 3 (you'll only need to show for 1 year when applying for visa) + IHS (300*3++150 =£1,150) + visa fees of £348 + TB test fees of about N60,000 for TB test in Nigeria + 9 months maintenance (£1,015*9 for outside London and £1,265*9 for London).

There are usually discounts/scholarships for most schools so the cost might or might not be lower depending on the course you choose.

sandra50:
[thanks for your response... I intend to stay back and any courses would do..

My friend is studying and working at the same time and that's what I intended d to do also.. She is doing her masters.. Please the 15,000 ponds is it for the whole course?i mean the 3years or just for a year?
quote author=mamacajah post=90958370]

Good evening sister.
Please relax..you came here for help and help you will get.

Now that agent is looking for easy clients, so he told you that. UK is not Canada..even for their citizens, there is called Mature student.

Even if you don't have a first degree, but you have been doing business, even with your personal accounts. So I think with proper preparation, you should be fine.

Let's take it one issue at a time.

1) Which course are you interested in doing? Is it business related or any field? You need to decide this first.
2.) Do you have the finances for schooling in the UK? The average amount for undergraduate studies in the UK is around 15k pounds (for school fees alone for international students) + 9200 for maintenance..= 24 -25k pounds ( 12 -13m naira). Undergraduate programs are 3 years.. calculate that cost..
3) If you just want to relocate, the nI would advise also considering other european countries like Germany/Netherland/Norway/Sweden etc...
4) You wll need to do your research...it is very important in this relocation journey..
5) For UK, the first step is getting the admission, other things will follow if you do the right things and follow the process
6) If someone wants to employ you as their child care giver, there's a lot process and the length of time you can stay there is not long.. so check and verify
7) Any other thing that doesn't sound right or legal ..I can't talk about it as I don't condone it nor use it.. so I am unable to answer that question

Okido..your responses will help us help you better.. so over to you..

Goodevning house.. Please I direction from the house and I will be as honest as possible..

I want to apply for UK student or visiting visa.. I'm a first time applicant so I'm a novice.. I spoke to an agent that processed for a friend(outside London and she went for masters, for 3million)some money was also deposited in her account and she got it.. Now in UK.

I spoke with the agent to help me process mine and he told me not to go for student visa because it might be denied reason being that, it's a long time I wrote my SSCE(12years back) I have done my degree but my friend did.

I have a registered company with a coparete account.. I haven't transacted any business with my business account, I have been using my personal account for all my transactions.. Should I apply for a visa with my business account or my personal account? I'm into importation of second hand wears but someone is helping me buy and send.. I have the receipt of some of the goods pouchesed for me but shipped with someone else's name.. I have pictures of most of my goods and when I'm selling them.. Can I get all these together and with some money in my personal account apply for visiting visa, telling them I'm going to buy goods..?

Another option.. I have a family friend that has been to the UK with the family And came back.. Can I act as their house help so they can apply for me as their help who will help them take care of the kids when they travel?

I also have a friend who has a very big old company that said..hey, I will look for a way to get you a UK visa but knowing that UK doesn't look at anybody's face,...can someone get one a visa with his or her company name or influence?

Please someone should help me on the best way to go about it.. I'm scared of denial that's why im looking for the best way.. Thanks in anticipation.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics:
It should but it is like trying to game the system; you still need to think about post-Visa process. I'm assuming that the money isn't available to you hence the following questions:
What happens after you get the visa? Ask your friend to let you use the funds for you UK trip? What % of your fees/maintenance do you have in your account? How would you settle your fees and bills when in the UK?
If what you personally have is not up to 90% of what you need, you'd be stressed out in the UK trying to make money to pay fees and take care of yourself. It's not all roses and cream as a student who has outstanding tuition balance + maintenance to think of.

yibore1:
Thanks for the reply.

I dont have up to the expected amount in my personal account. Am considering using both the joint accoint statement and my personal account statement to apply for my visa. I hope this will work.

If you don't include all the required documents or pass credibility checks, yes. The super-priority fee is for you to receive a decision on your application faster, it doesn't have a bearing on an application decision.

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 7:20pm On Jun 19, 2020
It's okay. The person can pay directly to your school on your behalf. The amount paid will be reflected on your CAS and UKVI will not be asking you for who made the payment already received by the school; you'll only need to show your tuition balance (if any) and maintenance funds in your account.

PS: Be sure that the person making payment is someone you trust so you don't get charged for fraud if the person pays using funds from fraudulent sources.

Oludare90:
Hello everyone!
Sorry I have someone who is based in the UK who I am thinking of asking to pay my tuition from there rather than sending the money to me in Nigeria to pay.
Is that ok/acceptable?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics:
If you're named on the account as an account holder, yes you can.
Just curious though, why would you be using a joint account with your friend? Why not your own account? You don't have to answer if you don't want to.

If your school doesn't insist on any deposit before CAS, it wouldn't affect your visa application. Your school will only include your full tuition fee on your CAS and you'd have to show that you have held the funds in the stipulated manner.

yibore1:
Please i need advice in these areas.

Can i use a joint account with a friend for my visa application.

I got an offer in Public Health at Glasgow Caledonian University and Global Health at University of Glasgow. Which would you advice i go for.

Is there a difference between public health and global health in job wise.

Am not expected to pay any deposit beforw receiving my CAS in one of d offer, do you think this will affect my visa process?

Thanks for your prompt reply.
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics:
Do you mean as a dependant? If yes, you can study (depends on the course) while in the UK but that shouldn't be the main purpose of your application for a dependant visa. If your spouse's tier 4 leave runs out before you finish your course, you won't be able to switch to a tier 4 visa in the UK.

If you're thinking about studying at the same time on T4 visas, it's possible but why would you want to do that? I'm thinking about the financial implications.

If you want to switch to a T4 visa towards the end of your partner's tier 4 + PSW visa, you won't be able to switch from a dependant visa to a tier 4 visa within the UK.

Yimi4real:
Yes, I am clear on the maintenance part but not certain if it is the balance of the 2 years fees or balance of one year.. cause her bill was showing year 1 and year 2. Is it the balance of everything or balance of year 1 after paying deposit?.

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 12:53pm On Jun 19, 2020
If you read my previous response to him, you'd see the strengthen the application part. Someone I know did it on a visit visa from another country (which was why I spoke on it) but there were very serious reasons for doing it which was why I told the poster that it was better to apply from residential country.

Skymoore1004:
Visit visa ma and even at that, still need to have a solid reason & evidence as to why you cannot apply from your country of residence
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics:
You'd have to submit documents backing your extenuating reason for doing this; you can't just decide to do this to escape the long waiting times in your residential country. Applying in your residential country is the standard requirement; it strengthens your application as it shows strong ties to the country where you're applying from.
The fact that there has been some flexibility in a part of the requirements in a different circumstance should not be taken as a means to disregard such requirements completely as it leads to a refusal.

Ps: Justwise, if you think citing this exception will lead people into thinking that it's the norm, pls feel free to remove my comments on it. Thank you.

TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics: 11:28am On Jun 19, 2020
You should be able to switch while on a PSW since it will be a resultant effect of your T4 visa (based on the previous scheme) but it's better to wait for official guidance on this.
If you want to go into business right after your studies, go for it but if you want to explore the job market before doing that, then do it on the PSW (if it'll still be applicable).
If you'd like an endorsement from your school, it's better to start laying your groundwork from the start of your course so that you can go straight in few months after your studies.

Please can one switch to tier 1 towards the end of PSW or immediately after studies?
TravelRe: Uk Student Visa/tier 4 Pbs - Your Questions Answered Part 4 by mimilyrics:
Even though it's acceptable but it's always better to apply in a country where you live because it strengthens your application. If you apply outside your country of residence, your application will take longer.

If your funds can sustain a 2 year program, it's up to you but since it's solely to afford you a settlement opportunity, I think it's a waste of money. Hope you know that if you don't get tier 2 sponsorship or switch to the tier 1 route, you'd need to leave at the end of your studies + PSW period.
Note: there's a cap on the number of years that you can study for so, going for a PhD (usually 3-4 years) might not be enough for you to stack up valid leave (+ your 1 or 2 years MSc visa and 2 years PSW) towards the 10-year settlement route.

As long as it's your account and you've got enough money in it, you can use it. There's no rule against using accounts in other currencies outside of your local currency. The embassy doesn't focus on the local currency (in this case, naira), you just have to show that you have enough funds in your account.

amaeve:
Please is anyone aware of the current cost for the super priority visa?
See quoted post below.

mimilyrics:
Visa fee is £348 for a standard application, priority visa processing costs £348 visa fee + £220 priority processing fee, super priority costs £348 visa + £956 super priority fee. Priority and super priority processing have faster turnaround than the standard processing.

IHS fee to use the NHS is £450 (£300 per year + £150 for the extra 4-6 months granted after the course ends) for one year programs. You have to pay this online after you submit your application but before you can pay your visa fee and book your biometrics appointment.

For a standard visa for 1 year programs, total costs in naira will be close to N400,000 (including IHS) depending on the exchange rate used.

$ equivalents are taken from your payment card if it's not a $ card.

It has more to do with the viability of your business idea(s). You'll need to be endorsed by approved organisations for your business idea(s) and you'd require at least £50,000 for the investor visa.

Yes, you're right. If you can put more than the extra N200k you currently have in the account, pls do (in case the rate is reviewed upwards though it's unlikely)

Hi ladies and gents,

Just to be sure of something that i already know.

My tuition fee after deposit payment is 9000 pounds

Maintenance funds for outside london is 1015 * 9 = 9135 pounds

So in total, the funds to be available in my account is to be 9000 + 9135 = 18,135 pounds

With the current oanda exchange rate at 485naira to a pound, that is equivalent to about 8.8m, plus or minus 9m

In actual sense, i need to have at least 9m in my account for 28 days prior to the day i submit my application.
