No matter what living arrangements you have in the UK, you have to show the required maintenance funds + tuition to get a T4 visa. bisi16: |

Someone posted a link for nursing students a few comments above. Use the link in the quoted comment below and delete nursing, go to the site and search for your preferred course. beautyfoch: Ellawhyte55: |
Yes, the fees are the same; it costs £348 per dependant. babaoloola: |
You submit your application, pay IHS & visa fee and book your appointment. toyclicks: |
You'd be paying £450 if you apply before October and if your course is for one year. IHS is the fee you pay to use the NHS while you live in the UK. toyclicks: |
Yes, IHS costs are paid upfront during your application process. It's £300 for each year of your course + £150 for the extra 4-6 months after your course ends. So for a year course, you'd be paying £750 (£300*2+£150). The fee changes to £470 (Tier 4 and Tier 5 applicants) and £624 (other adult categories) in October though so if your application is made from October, you'd be paying more. IHS fees for 2 year course in October will be 470*2 (IHS fee for 2 years) +235 (IHS for 4-6 months) =1,175. bisi16: |
Your visa fee covers your biometrics. Latito442: |
It's £300 per year for students but since 4-6 months is added, it's £450 payable for 1 year programs. Skymoore1004: |
You missed out IHS cost of £450 for 1 year courses (300 for each year of your course and 150 for the extra time granted after your course ends). It will go up to £470 (Tier 4 and Tier 5 applications) and £624 (for other adult categories) in October 2020. Correction: toyclicks: |
I never said that Ikoyi was the alpha and omega. Notice that I said he should use Ikoyi "if you can" (implying that other sources are available if the poster can't). "Most people" (I never said "all" or "everyone" ) whose cases I'm privy to. This also implies that the others (who didn't submit an Ikoyi certificate) must have submitted another form of marriage certificate. The part about the certificates appearing fake was due to the court case on the approved template which LGs weren't using at the time. If you actually read my response and you felt that I thrashed LG certificates, then I really don't know what to say especially since I explained the premise of my advice and also stated that I wasn't sure if the template issue had been resolved. Oggg: |
Calm down and read my comment again. I never said that LG marriages arent recognised. There were issues surrounding LG marriage certificates few years ago because the LG certificate template wasn't the approved one and those who used it had to get their marriage validated outside of the certificates that they were issued. If you read the last part of my comment, you'd see that I stated that I wasn't sure if the issue with the template was already rectified. Oggg: |
Pls read my comment again. Did you notice that I said most people? I never said everyone. Also the poster asked about using either the LG or FG marriage certificate and not about mosque or church certificate. I'm aware that religious organisations with a valid license issue the marriage certificate in the FG format. My comment was based on the poster's question and issues around the LG marriage certificate few years ago and not based on my assumptions of what the poster's personal situation is. LaaJiblik: |
There must have been a mixup from your employer somewhere . My tax code was 1250L and I never paid income tax while working as a student; I worked almost all through my program and earned below the taxable income threshold. Only about £61 was deducted for NI for the tax year. STENON: |
Pls use the certificate from Ikoyi if you can. My reason for this is that 1. Most people use the Ikoyi certificate so there's a probability that the ECO treating an application might think the LG certificate is a fake document due to a difference in the template for both. 2. There was a situation a few years ago about LG marriage certificates not being the same as the one issued by the FG registry and even though marriages conducted at the time weren't nullified, people who had married and gotten their marriage certificates from LGs had to go through the extra stress of getting the FG certificates. 3. The Local Government Unified Marriage Certificate was declared null and void at the time because it wasn't in compliance with approved FG marriage certificate template. I'm not sure if the template has been rectified now though. If I get a link for the court proceedings, I'd update this comment with it later. faks10: |
Being put on leave to avoid being made redundant as a result of economic conditions. Currently in the UK, people who have being furloughed have up to 80% of the take home borne by the government through their employers. gsk4reality: |
Under normal circumstances, yes. But it's not always the case. Just make sure that you don't need your passport shortly after submitting your application incase the normal timescales are exceeded. SAMDEEA123: |
Your friend is right but it doesn't happen like that in all cases, it could stretch beyond that in some cases especially if the application isn't straightforward. No one knows what the realistic timescales will be when VACs/UKVI starts accepting applications due to several reasons. SAMDEEA123: |

1. Yes, he can travel with his wife as his dependant; she'll be on the Tier 4 dependant visa. 2. He will need to have his full tuition fee/balance and maintenance costs for himself (£1,265*9 monthly for London and £1,015*9 monthly for outside London). Dependants will need to show minimum maintenance costs of £845*9(Inside London) or £680*9 (outside London). The total of the above required funds will need to be in the account for both applications. 3. I'm not sure about a Tier 4 dependant being interviewed. gentilityndu: |
UKVI shouldn't have an issue with it for the following reasons; 1. According to UKVI, the financial institution must be regulated by the FCA, PRA or the home regulator for the country that the financial institution is in and where the money is held. Prodigy meets this requirement because it has operational offices and the money for your loan is held in the UK (Prodigy is regulated by the FCA which is the financial conduct regulator in the UK) 2. Also, according the the UKVI, loan funds must be available to you before your travel to the UK but 2 exceptions apply to overseas visa applications; the 2nd exception is where prodigy falls. The 2nd exception allows for the payment of your tuition to your Tier 4 sponsor while your maintenance could be paid before or on your arrival to the UK; prodigy fulfils this requirement as this is usually contained in the general loan confirmation letter. Was this clearly stated in your loan confirmation letter as is the norm? If you still have reservations, you could just fund your account with the required amount for visa application. udi2111: |
This is based on a friend's visa application within the past year; note that it's a slight deviation from the T4 rule that states that it must be an academic loan from your national government. Your loan confirmation letter from Prodigy can be used as proof of finance to support your visa application as long as the loan isn't conditional; the only condition for disbursement of funds, if any, MUST be the procurement of your student visa. Both prodigy and future finance are regulated financial institutions with an active educational loan schemes and are regulated by the FCA. Ps: Since your school is on the list of prodigy approved institutions, they must have had questions around this (and students who have used this successfully in the past) so you should speak to your school; they should be able to answer your questions. udi2111: |
No, you can't except you've lived in the UK 3 years prior to your course start date + some other requirements. You can explore scholarships/grants/bursaries though. udi2111: |
When it takes off, it should apply to the 2020/21 intake of students to universities. Sept 2020 falls under the 2020/2021 intake. Nadheer15: |
There no new visa policy. The proposed PSW scheme hasn't kicked off yet and isn't scheduled to kick off till next year but no one can tell you for certain right now. If and when it eventually kicks off, it would allow postgraduate students to stay back in the UK for 2 years for work purposes. Your best bet would be to keep checking official UKVI sources for an update on this; guidance on this is usually released closer to the start date. Nadheer15: |
If the funds available can only sponsor 1 person, it isn't advisable for the following reasons; 1. There will most likely be a flag on the 2nd application as a result of the surnames and this might lead to a more in-depth investigation of the application; any unsatisfactory findings will lead to a refusal of the application. 2. How does the other sibling intend to offset the tuition and living costs upon arrival in the UK? Working to offset tuition fees + maintenance in the UK is a herculean task; the most you can offset from working will be your maintenance costs. You'd also be totally stressed and your studies will likely suffer for it. And it's not certain that you'd get a 20 hour weekly job as soon as you get into the UK. 3. Applications take days, weeks and in some cases, month's and your plan, in this case, is almost impossible. 4. If fraudulent misrepresentation is suspected in your application, it would lead to a refusal and in most cases, a ban. 5. Why not explore the option of one sibling going first while the other goes the following year? This will give time for funds for the other sibling to be raised while removing the stress and worry of being caught out. iyke03: |
Better to have funds for the 2 siblings in the account. It saves them the stress and hassle that comes from being refused as a result. Ps: When you say different intervals, what exactly do you mean? Are you talking weeks, days or months interval? iyke03: |
Visit visas, T4 child visa (for the child to school in the UK alongside her mum) or wait to get dependant visas if and when your wife is on a postgraduate course. Bhydemi: |
No. You can only do it at IOM. Presenting TB test results from any other testing facility or hospital will lead to a refusal of your application. Mikeval001: |
Equivalent to UKVI what? What are the English language requirements for your school? Once you can and have proved to the University that you meet the required standard of English, it will be written on your CAS that the school has assessed your English language ability, and you do not need to submit any documents (except those listed as evidence to secure your admission) to prove your English skills when you make your visa application. Some schools require proof of English to show that you meet the minimum requirements while some others request for more more than the minimum requirements in form of the IELTS. Omah7979: |
