Okay. Do it and face the consequences. I rest my case. Luvdmx: |
Future finance wouldn't process a loan application while the student is outside the UK. Prodigy processes loans while students are outside the UK but they are only available for students of certain schools. Zeecos: |
Visa Application Centres in Nigeria aren't open for applications yet but IOM is open for TB tests. Use this link to keep checking for VAC updates: https://pos.tlscontact.com/nigeria sagbar: |
No. Previous transaction history isn't required for T4 visas. You just have to show that the money has been in your account for 28 days prior to the submission of your online application. i.e if the full money is paid in on July 10th, you should start your 28th day count from July 11th. pwettyhardey: |
1. Your own money can be in your dad's account but not your husband's. Your husband's funds have to be in your account, his account or a joint account which has his name as an account holder. If you can, why not ask your dad to transfer the funds to you? That way, all the funds you and your husband require can be in one account. If not, use your dad's account for you and use yours or your husband's account for him. 2. It won't raise a raise flag as long as evidence provided shows a genuine relationship. Your marriage certificate plus other docs (like pictures, your bank statements with same address post and/or pre-wedding, bills if you lived together prior to your wedding) that prove you've been in a relationship prior to your study quest will help. That way it doesn't seem that the marriage was contracted solely for Visa purposes. The docs listed up there are just a guide, not an exhaustive list and if you don't have them, don't panic, your wedding pictures including pre & post-wedding pictures will help; it's a new marriage so you wouldn't have been able to build up that many documents. 3. Yes, he will be able to work full-time on T4 dependant visa. pwettyhardey: |
Search for Centrepoint Cargo, London on google to get their contact and rates. Last time I used them, I paid N700/kg but not sure what their rates are now. I used them between 2017 and 2019 and they delivered from between 5 -14 days. You can also use Google to search for others to compare rates Hunnybee: |
They can't claim as a couple. If the wife's visa says "no recourse to public funds", only the British husband can. As long as you don't have British citizenship or ILR, you are not eligible to claim benefits jointly or not. Luvdmx: |

Form A using the official rate but this can take a few days to be confirmed by your school. You'd need to pay your tuition deposit before your visa application if getting your CAS from your school depends on it. WalterC007: |
The email doesn't automatically put the new vignette on your passport. You'd still have to submit your passport and mail from UKVI at the VAC after which the VAC transfers your passport to the BHC for vignette printing. kcfastshooter: |
They aren't taking applications yet. A friend with a Tier 1 vignette is currently waiting for when the VACs will be open to applications to apply for a replacement vignette. kcfastshooter: |
Even if you oppose or correct, it's for a good cause as long as your information is correct. No hard feelings. ![]() LoyalRoyalty: |

I didn't say they don't. I said it was better (because I don't know the OPs personal circumstances) except the OP has a reason to be in the UK frequently. LoyalRoyalty: |
Is your husband the main applicant? If yes, it's okay but if you're the main applicant, the money you require for your T4 application has to be in your own personal account, a joint account where you're listed as an account holder or your parents' account(s). You can open a dorm account for yourself and transfer the money into it from your husband's account. hadidej: |
Lol! Not reading meanings into your post but had to clarify because other people can. I only explained what type of friend can give that before people start using friends who aren't experts or their research supervisors. So sad to read about you being unsuccessful on the route. Hope you're generally in a better place now. I pray for success in your future endeavors. Enjoy your weekend! dustydee: |
For the entrepreneural visa, a reference letter from the friend (in addition to a uni or approved body endorsement) is only helpful if they would be in business together. For the Global talent route, not knowing whether the friend was qualified was exactly why I further explained that not just a friend could do it but someone who had attained the standards specified for such and your response to that buttressed what I said hence asking "what was different in what I said and what you typed". Your initial comment came off as "any" friend could do it as long as the said friend was resident in the UK - this was a misleading statement. Also for tech nation, documents/research submitted must have been evaluated by a research supervisor or an expert, not a friend- Did the friend do this evaluation in official capacity? For the friend to be comfortable writing a reference didn't mean he could except he meets certain conditions for the exceptional talent route. Being able to get away with certain things that isn't doesn't mean it should be done. What A could get away with misrepresentation or exploiting the laws, B might not be able to get away with it because the VO might have caught on to it. Whatever I type here isn't a result of self interpretation but as a result of legal interpretation and on real life situations which I've been privy to over the past years up with the most recent being shortly before Covid-19. I understand that there are exceptions/discretionary provisions within the law (I've learnt to refrain from citing exceptions after few people translated it as being the norm) but those exceptions shouldn't be made out to be the norm. Information required for these routes is out there, if anyone twists it to suit their situation, then the result will be on them. At this point, I rest my case. dustydee: |
January starts are usually in the same session as the preceding September start i.e. January 2021 fees for a course starting in Jan 2021 will reflect fees for the 2020/2021 session, not 2021/2022 session Graceisallineed: |
It's during the application process, after you submit your online application form and before you pay your visa fee. After submitting your completed form, you pay IHS, pay your visa fee, and proceed to choose an appointment date. bisi16: |
Always better to apply for 2 years after previously travelling to the UK on the 6 month visa. This allows you to show history of travelling to and returning from the UK before you apply for the longer duration visas except you have a valid reason to travel frequently to the UK (i.e. visiting your child who schools in the UK) opomulero: |
Only those with expired 30-days vignette will be able to apply for new vignettes to enable them travel. Nothing has been said about replacing non-immigrant visas which weren't used as a result of Covid-19. kcfastshooter: |
Eminent (adjective): (of a person) famous and respected within a particular sphere. How is the above definition different from what I stated earlier? An eminent person in a particular field must have shown expertise or astute research qualities before he/she can attain eminent status. You stated that the OP's friend (who barely knows him) could write a reference letter without ascertaining whether the friend is qualified to do so and I clarified that getting a friend (without expertise in a particular field) to write a reference letter will not cut it- this is a friend whose reference would not fly because writing references entail impartially talking about a person's exceptional and professional qualities which you have evidenced and judged from the person's publications, professional, educational and research accomplishments. The people I know that have done this did not use friends in the UK; they used people (who may also be their friends but not necessarily so) of high repute (who could attest to their professional and exceptional abilities) in their various fields because using a "friend " just because the said "friend" lives in the UK won't cut it. A friend without proven expertise in any area can't sufficiently prove that you've got exceptional skills. For a friend to do this, he/she has to be known as an notable authority or expert in a field. dustydee: |
Not just from someone based in the UK but from an expert/research supervisor in the applicant's area of expertise to evaluate and declare or affirm the applicant's potentials / expertise / exceptional skills as world-class standard. A letter from a "friend" wouldn't cut it; a friend without expertise in your area of exceptional skills or expertise can't sufficiently prove that you've got exceptional skills. dustydee: |
The friend's "reference" letter has no bearing except it's going to be a joint venture business with both of them in which case it will be more of a business document detailing joint business planning. He must be endorsed by an authorised body listed in the category he wants to apply in. dustydee: |
![]() Okay. My bad! Just seeing the "m" behind your screen name. See links below for more info on the other visa categories: https://www.gov.uk/innovator-visa https://www.gov.uk/start-up-visa https://www.gov.uk/global-talent https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-general https://www.gov.uk/tier-4-general-visa dgee1: |
3 options are open to you; Tier 1 (can be capital intensive depending on the category but you must have a viable business proposal or possess exceptionally high talent), Tier 2 (if you can get an employer to sponsor your work Visa - you can apply for certain jobs from Nigeria; this won't come on a platter of Gold) and, Tier 4 (which can get you a 2 year PSW - if it kicks off as scheduled and eventually a Tier 2 job sponsorship which can get you ILR in 5 years if you are lucky. The only option where your "friend" can have a direct impact is through the spousal visa (a lengthy and sometimes, emotionally draining process) which has its own conditions and a level of physical interaction (you must have met physically) as one of the proofs of being genuine. I don't advice this even if you eventually find yourself in the UK, don't jump in without knowing exactly who your "friend" is; looks and perceptions could be deceiving. If you go for the Tier 4, you can use a stone to kill 2 birds - improve your professional options through education while getting a chance at exploring the UK job market. You'd need to meet the financial requirements (tuition + maintenance) in addition to passing the genuine student test. PS: Don't just assume that your friend is willing to help, ask if he is and to what level he's willing to help. You need to know in order to plan. Also ask yourself this questions; 1. What would happen if your friend's willingness changes? If he changes his mind, what would you do? 2. Would you still be able to go ahead with the process of whatever route you choose? 3. What exactly do you want? 4. Where exactly do you see yourself in a few years from now irrespective of the economic or global situations? dgee1: |
As long as it is acceptable by Nigerian marriage laws, the UK will accept it. Davidkay31: |

Keep trying to reach them for a new date. They just might be swamped with so much work ATM. ricaabrams: |
Yes, you can. It makes no difference when they were born as long as they're under 18 when you apply for them (This is because you qualified for citizenship at birth even though you didn't apply immediate). You'd need to earn a minimum of £18,600 to sponsor your wife's visa as your spouse. Apply for your children's British passports before your wife's application as your spouse. OLUPROMISE: |
About 15k yearly. There are courses cheaper and more expensive than that though (i.e. HR can be as high as £18k, MBA between £20k and £30k plus; Suffolk, Chester, Bedfordshire and some others have courses in the £9-10k range). Check for the schools with the courses you want and what their tuition is like. dgee1: |
