Politics › Re: Yoruba Leaders’ Threat Against Fulani Herdsmen Diversionary – Falana by mmsen: 9:49pm On Oct 11, 2015 |
mu2sa2: The only viable long-lasting solution to the farmers/herders clashes is to establish grazing reserves by federal and state governments. Neither the Fulani nor the farmers benefit from the crises. Whether we like it or not the Fulani provide virtually all the beef we consume in this country -this alone should ginger our greedy, self-centred politicians to end these clashes by doing the needful. The viable long term solution is to hold criminals to account for their crminality. From there Nigeria can then begin to eradicate what is yet another backwards practice that poses more problems than it solves. Cattle is private business, the purchasing of land for grazing should be by private entities. |

A lot of men are foolish when it comes to marriage - frequently it happens because a man likes how a woman looks and has no other options. That certainly appears to be the case here. He's not a handsome man and I doubt he is a man of means. |

playtheblues: The oyibo hubby does not have any relatives? Not even a single oyibo friend/relative of his in attendance. If it's our men that wanna marry their ladies they would insist that they should go marry them in Nigeria. Why didn't he travel to Holland to marry her? Hope he's not looking for Naija citizenship like Dan Foster? I wish them HML sha but she looked better paired with Desmond Elliot. They didn't show up because they know what we know - she married him for a passport and money. Ashawo business in extremis. |

Prayer doesn't get anything done.
If you want progress for your country then use your influence to push values besides spending money on imported goods.
Use your influence to ensure that Nigerians vote for people with genuine policies, people who don't repeat the word 'corruption' 100 times a day. |

I am sympathetic to the APC cause but in this case I want to be neutral. I expected the APC senators to champion this cause but I guess our change mantra will never reach the allowances.? The change mantra is a charade. Most of those screaming 'change' have been involved in the business of government for a long time - the problems that they claim to have discovered are issues that they were party to and that they profited from. |

RaggedyAnn: It's kind of them to do this despite their $18trillion national debt and all the noise the republicans have been making about the failing economy. I hope POTUS doesn't catch flak over this going into an election year. Of course he would. If it is really as simple as the article presents it. The US wants Nigeria to succeed, eradicate poverty and disease so they give us $2.3b to feed our starving people while 17million starving American children are left to rely on Viola Davis' HungerIs foundation. Really...
They want us to succeed; they wish us good luck. Relationships are quid pro quo, what are we really giving up? What does a young lady usually give up when a man buys her jewellery? |

obailala: Nigeria no doubt is a great rich nation, but corruption and mismanagement for decades has rendered us destitute. Now is not the time to beat our chests and affirm our 'independence.' We need any kind of help we can get and we need to humble ourselves to receive any help.
You might be comfortable, hence your statements. But unlike you, there are millions of your fellow Nigerians out there who have no food to eat this morning, and who are not assured of any proper meal for the rest of today. Quit speaking for these ones. If certain states weren't so wasteful/incompetent there would not be so many people living in extreme poverty. It doesn't matter how much money they are given, so long as those states refuse to provide basic services and build (and maintain) basic infrastructure their people will forever live in poverty. So long as those people continue to lynch their fellow citizens for stealing chickens, whilst looking with admiration at the political criminals and those within the judiciary who protect them, instead of holding those crooks to account, then that will be their lot. Maybe they deserve their harsh life on account of their collective cowardice. |

Sappyman: My sister you are very correct. The Otueke man is never our Hero. He should be forgotten for live. He created all these mess we are trying to put in place now. Just imagine the Otueke man saying steeling is not corruption. God help usoooo Which mess? Nigeria had year on year growth during the GEJ era. One of the fastest growing economies in the world during that period Nigeria saw roads being built and improved on. Schools were built in the north for those interested in sending their children to school instead of sending them out to beg. Universities were built by the Federal Government. The revival of the agricultural industry in Nigeria. The end of the fuel subsidy which the foolish populace protested about, only to suffer as a result of their pointless protest. The privatization of DISCOS. FOI was passed and used by the press so that the citizenry could partake fully in the democratic process. In their haste they removed a man who saw fit to strengthen institutions and replaced him with a man who once paraded for Sharia but was otherwise known for being a coupist who plunged the economy into the abyss once before (funny how history repeats itself) and for crying that to attack Boko Haram would be to attack the North. I didn't care much for Jonathan (and his wife, especially) but compared to Buhari the man's a genius. At least he had good policies. What is Buhari offering Nigeria besides promising to fight 'corruption'? |
