We need adoption homes and planned family resource enters in this country.
Women like these who cannot care for their children should be able to put their kids up for adoption for another loving family to take. Family resource centers will also give women information about contraceptives and family planing in general.
I hope they release her. They need to be given proper contraceptives and there need to be consequences for women who refuse to be responsible for their bodies. Sleep with as many men as you want to if you so desire but don't drag children into your disorganised tragedy of a life. |

How do you teach them how to think rationally without having an assembly? Listen to this
How do they learn ethics, national anthem, pledge etc? I remember back then in school, it wasn't just about prayers, assembly was the place we get advice from principal and teachers. It was the place sandals, nails and proper uniform wear was checked, it was the place discipline of erring student was carried out. I remembered being flogged at one time by the principal on the assembly where our names were read out for committing ******. It wasn't just about prayers They have civics classes? or the equivalent - the national anthem and pledge can be taught then. Ethics is something that can taught without any religious instruction at all - the most religious societies are usually the least ethical. If need be a class can be introduced to teach ethics and philosophy, independent of religion. |

If Buhari tries this, you all will say he wants to 'islamize' Nigeria. So what is the Cross River state governor trying to do?
This is a terrible decision by the state government. How will the student learn the National anthem, pledge etc? How will they have sound Moral teaching? The morning assembly is not just all about prayers? There are Moral lessons that student learn from the teachers, prefects and sometimes the principal. Seems Umana is high on calabar weed There's more religion in Nigeria than most countries, it has not solved a single problem. Umana is not the governor of CRS, he's never contested elections in CRS because he's from AKS where he lost the election. Prayer should not be forced upon children, teach them how to think rationally - that is more important than forcing them to accept superstition. |

Science/Technology › Vice President Osinbajo Loses N8 Million To NAU Hackers by mmsen(op): 11:31pm On Oct 25, 2015*. Modified: 7:52am On Oct 26, 2015 |
http://afritechnet..com/2015/10/vice-president-osinbajo-losses-n8.htmlThe current Vice President of Nigeria, Yemi Osinbajo is alleged to have lost N8 million to undergraduate computer hackers. The Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) based in Ikeja has named two current Nnamdi Azikiwe University (Awka) students, Ebuka Orumba and Patrick Nwafor as suspects. The duo are alleged to have hacked into a Simmons Cooper Partner bank account. Simmons Cooper is a law firm that was listed as property of Professor Osinbajo during the much publicized constitutional asset declaration exercise. The students are said to have hacked into the email of Mr Tunde Irukera, Simmons Cooper's account manager. The hackers used the compromised Simmons Cooper's email address to contact UBA on July 2nd and requested the transfer of N8 million from the Simmons Cooper account to three accounts belonging to the alleged criminals. One of the bank accounts has been identified as a Zenith account, number 2086943174. The account held N3 million which had been transferred to a fictional Engineer Asukwo Okoro. It had been fraudulently opened by a Mr Artur Kalu. Mr Kalu was arrested by SARS officers when he tried to empty the account. On questioning Mr Kalu the police received information that enabled them to arrest Orumba and identify Nwafor as the third member of the operation. Nwafor is still wanted for questioning. The trio face charges of conspiracy, theft and fraud. In today’s digital age, fraudulent bank transfer scams that rely on targeted email phishing have become increasingly common. Hackers can often use data that can be found with a simple online search to craft believable, fraudulent emails and trick businesses into quickly sending funds by creating fake situations and fake profiles. The Nigeria Interbank Settlement System (NIBBS) has previously given warning that users are being bombarded with phishing emails. Users are advised to educate themselves on the ever increasing dangers of phishing and how to safeguard their online activity with healthy security practices. Internet savvy individuals refrain from divulging unwarranted levels of personal information on social media accounts, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Being miserly with personal data online decreases the likelihood of becoming a target to cyber-criminals. http://afritechnet..ae/2015/10/vice-president-osinbajo-losses-n8.html |

thisisjboy: What is interesting is that the standard and models for intelligence are decided upon by humans, doesn't that already reek of bias? A lot of animals are able to achieve features humans are incapable of, say for instance the echolocation bats and dolphins posses. Another hint of bias is that intelligence of other animals is often determined by its ability to follow instructions meted out by humans, say like a Chimps ability to rearrange and identify certain shapes and colors.
I don't think we humans are as smart as we like to think, we are really just an egotistical bunch, which is why you have the majority of the populace believing that the universe was created solely for our existence and that the creator did so to have a personal relationship with us, other animals know better than that, and since they know so, can we really say we are smarter than they are? I'm always amazed at how some people think there is a god that loves everyone but looks out for them especially when there are 7 billion others globally, on top of the various other animals that share this planet. |

Gaborone: 2 Chronicles 7 v 14: If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land. The same book also says this: 1 Corinthians 14:34 God is not a God of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints. 34 The women are to keep silent in the churches; for they are not permitted to speak, but are to subject themselves, just as the Law also says. 35 If they desire to learn anything, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is improper for a woman to speak in church. If you are going to quote the Bible as the unerring word of the one true god maybe you should first display that you live by all the laws and edicts contained within it. |

plaetton: Simply amazing !
There is something I have found very very disturbing amongst people of African origin.
I really hope that it is simply cultural weakness and failures of the educational systems ,rather than a genetic predisposition. It most definitely is not genetic, it's more so that those imbibed with religious fervour are the most delusional and the quickest to shout from the roof top regarding whatever foolish thoughts that they cling to. Sadly the crowd is usually drawn to the loudest, brashest beings as opposed to the most intelligent. Religion is very much a learned cultural habit - no one is born believing in any one religion or superstition, children have to be indoctrinated. Africans are not the only ones drawn to foolish practices - I can remember a few years back the Governor of Texas called for a day of prayer too. Like this call it was a ploy designed to distract from his ineptitude. |

Zambia's President Edgar Lungu has turned to God in a bid to stop the freefall of his country's ailing currency, with bars shut and football matches cancelled on a national day of prayer to end a record slump.
Lungu ordered the prayer session last month after the kwacha fell 45 percent against the dollar since the start of the year due to a sharp drop in the price of copper, the country's main export.
Food prices have soared and crippling power shortages have also been triggered by low water-levels in Lake Kariba, where hydropower plants supply much of the country's electricity.
Our God has heard our cries, he has forgiven us our sins and we are sure he will heal our country (as) we face serious social-economic challenges.
President Lungu,
"Brilliant ideas"
The kwacha's 45-percent slump against the dollar this year has been the worst of all 155 currencies tracked by Bloomberg news service.
"Our God has heard our cries, he has forgiven us our sins and we are sure he will heal our country (as) we face serious social-economic challenges," Lungu told a gathering of some 5,000 Zambians, including former presidents Kenneth Kaunda and Rupiah Banda.
He also appealed to Zambians with "brilliant ideas" to come forward and assist the government.
"There are many out there who have brilliant ideas, let them come forward, we run an open government," he told the crowd in the Zambian capital Lusaka.
"We should never seek political success on the back of our national failure or disaster. It is our people who will suffer," he said.
"You all know that God is love and I appeal to all of you to do the best and leave the rest to God."
Kaunda, Zambia's founding president, meanwhile prayed that God would help Lungu solve the country's woes.
Bars shut
"God, continue to help us solve the problems this young man may face in future," said Kaunda as he placed his hand on Lungu's head.
The Zambian football association postponed all of Sunday's games and the government had announced that bars should not open until 6:00 pm.
Critics of the government have accused Lungu of failing to tackle the causes of country's economy troubles, saying that the prayer day was a distraction.
During the session Bishop Peter Ndlobvu hit back at the critics.
"The Bible says gold and silver belong to God. If we pray, God will restore our economy" he said. http://www.aljazeera.com/news/2015/10/zambia-leader-seeks-god-currency-freefalls-151019050741159.htmlSince when has prayer ever resolved economic and infrastructural deficiencies? |
