Abuamam:Someone made an erroneous statement - it is immoral to allow untruths to go unchallenged. Muslim 'historians' are fine so long as they use good sources. |
ogb5:Your petty emotional response is proof definitive that people like you are not adequately equipped to be engaged in a democratic system. |
Rilwayne001:Done https://www.nairaland.com/2253849/built-kaaba |
Abuamam:I don't believe in that nonsense either. This thread was directed towards Nigerian xtians had you bothered to read the title. |
There are some who claim that it was built by Abraham to honor Allah. The problem with this theory is that there is no historical evidence of Abraham ever having existed as described in the Bible/Torah/Koran. There is evidence that the Kaaba was built prior to the foundation of Islam. There is more evidence that it was built to commemorate another god by the name of Hubal. |
ogb5:1. Hypocrites. 2. You don't know from I hail - to assume that I have a state governor is silly. But I have visited Nigeria widely and Delta State should be one of the most prosperous but from the looks of things it is one of the worst in the south. 3. We should condemn all crooked politicians and see that they all face justice so that the next generation will think differently. Fighting immoral activity is a never-ending task. It does not begin or end with one politicians, it is your civic duty to ensure that corrupt officials do not prosper. The age of the military rulers is over, people can and should demand more from their political leaders. If you look at my past posts I ask probing questions about Tinubu often and since El-Rufai has decided to run for office I have been questioning his supporters as well. |
Rilwayne001:I know very well that Hubal is not Allah, Hubal came before Allah and there is proof that the Kaaba was made for the purposes of Hubal. The Kaaba was a pre-Islamic structure, how could it have been constructed for something that came much later? Do you have outside verification (besides the Koran) that the Kaaba was constructed Abraham and that it was constructed for the benefit of Allah? Is there any historical evidence as to the existence of 'Abraham'? |
ogb5:My state governors? They have nothing to do with me. I want all crooks in Nigeria to face justice, I want everyone to be held to account. When they are exposed I will speak about them, I will not defend criminals as you have been doing. |
ogb5:I know what I have seen in Asaba and Warri, compared to Uyo, Calabar or Port Hartcourt the towns in Delta State are pitiful. You are lying to yourself if you believe that Ibori only stole 5 million pounds - he has been imprisoned for 13 years, he stole a lot more than 5 million pounds. The Brits froze 80 million of his assets and have returned at least 8 million to Nigeria. http://www.vanguardngr.com/2014/11/uk-return-6-8m-ibori-loot-nigeria/ Keep lying to yourself, you sound like the clowns who claim that Babangida was good for Nigeria. http://www.cnn.com/2012/05/09/world/africa/ibori-mpa/index.html |
nkemdi89:Please do a search on 'big bones' you will find that is a dishonest term meant to take people away from the true cause of being overweight - poor dietary habits. Too much salt, consumption of animal fats, general overeating and a lack of regular exercise cause Nigerian women to gain weight. It has nothing to being born with 'big bones'. The modelling industry has moved away from excessively skinny girls who starve themselves - they too are unhealthy. Whether dying from anorexia or hypertension, premature death is not a sign of a healthy life. Body shape is not dictated by 'race', 'tribe' or 'country' as they are all social constructs and is not an excuse for being unhealthy. |
Rilwayne001:Why do Nigerian Muslims go on pilgrimages? Was the Kaaba not constructed as a pagan icon? Why are Muslims so eager to hand over their money to people in the Middle East? Hubal (Arabic: هبل) was a god worshipped in pre-Islamic Arabia, notably at the Kaaba in Mecca. His idol was a human figure, believed to control acts of divination, which was in the form of tossing arrows before the statue. The direction in which the arrows pointed answered questions asked of the idol. |
rutemi:There are other states where the teachers do not strike but where roads and other amenities are built. He did not achieve anything in doing that. There is no excuse for the state that Asaba is in, none. The amount of money that has been wasted should have turned that place into a town to rival Calabar, instead it is on par with places like Yola for deprivation. Warri should be one of the great cities of Nigeria, rivaling Port Harcourt. What is it today? All that money that Ibori spent for his frivolous reasons could have been better used. You are willfully ignoring all the money that was wasted abroad by Ibori, why? Could he not have used all that money to develop his own home? What kind of personenriches another man's home and leaves his own looking like a used toilet bowl? I don't care if politicians step on the toes of others, they are there to put in place measures and projects that will improve their environs. The problem is that some steal resources meant to improve quality of life in their locale for their own childish desires - what compounds the problem is that there people will defend them because the politician dashed them a few kobo. |
Why are they in such a hurry to go and spend their hard earned money abroad? What do they believe they will achieve by going to the Middle East? Is there a verse in the Bible that claims that they must visit the Middle East? |
rutemi:He stole. He took money meant to do long lasting good and used it as gifts. He enriched his people how? By giving them handouts? What happened to ensuring that they had amenities so that they could all grow instead of dolling out money? You have just exemplified why some people should never hold political office, nor should they ever be allowed to vote. They do not even appear to understand what is in the best interests of the society that they live in. There's a need to impose a moral aptitude test for anyone running for elective office and for those that wish to register to vote. No discipline, no moral sense and no understanding of the role of government - pitiful. |
peterjero:The majority have no clue as to what is happening in the corridors of power, hence why they vote for clowns like George Bush and General 'An Attack on Boko Haram is an attack on the North' Buhari. I had no feelings towards Jonathan but when I saw that he was serious about putting in place measures that would benefit Nigeria in the long run that is when I saw that he is one of the best administrators that Nigeria has had as president. The fact that he was up against Buhari as an opponent helped his cause. Sadly, you cannot be all things to all men and whilst someone with a grasp of economics and politics is always necessary there are people who seek a man with a military background believing that will resolve the Boko Haram issue, a problem with deep seated and unattended cultural problems. |
What are they celebrating? Impending corrupt land deals? The sale of public assets to his cronies for below market value? What am I missing? |
peterjero:Politics and nepotism go hand-in-hand because people select who they know and not who is best. It does not mean that the parents have done well in raising the child - George W. Bush is an example of that, he was an embarrassment to his family as a young man and was disastrous as president. |
Kudos on his educational policies but why would he upload this picture? And why did the OP do likewise here? |
mya1:What is Caucasian hair?? Did you not view the pictures? There are dolls with plaited hair to choose from. And there is a variety in African hair textures, just as there is variety in African skin tones and body shapes. His duty is not to be all things to all people but to represent an ideal, slim and healthy will always be preferable to overweight. We should not normalize obesity. |
nkemdi89:Like it or not being fat is not healthy. We need to shift the paradigm to understand that not everything that is common is good. Hopefully the sight of beautiful, thin dolls will lead to questions about diet and lifestyle. |
anibirelawal:Everything counts but very little is more important than how you educate your children. Teaching children entails much more than sending them to school (to be taught by someone else) - it includes teaching them the value of self-esteem, self-respect and awareness of their environment. This man saw a a problem and fixed it. That is what we should all be doing. Only a person who does not understand the impact that a childhood devoid of identity would say that this was a meaningless endeavor. Toys are a multi-billion dollar industry, likewise children's television and movies - ask yourself why. |
Chrisx1x:You have no moral fiber or understanding of how events in one place effect those in neighboring areas. When good governors appear and are seen to do well that puts pressure on others do likewise - see how Cross River pressurized AKS to step up or how Lagos has put pressure on those in Oyo state to get to work. When you have inept governors doing what has been done before that is when the status quo continues and people will continue crying about how there is no money in the country, everything in Nigeria is bad etc etc. If Ibori used the money for developments that would make his state a beautiful place to live and do business then that would draw more money to the state and everyone there would be in line to benefit - instead he choose to take money meant to create infrastructure and used it to buy property abroad and 'luxury' consumer items, thus expanding the purses of foreign businesses. When you look at it he was doubly stupid - 1) for stealing 2) for enriching a foreign nation. |
Good man, this is a much needed product. |
rutemi:So now you are espousing the principle of moral relativity. He didn't steal as much so that means he should be trusted? This is why I think that democracy (or at least universal/unequivocal suffrage) is a disaster in a nation like Nigeria. People who have not been taught to reason are given a say in matters that they do not understand. |
ozoigbondu:Did I say that Anambra was not developing? I used the word 'if' - clearly there is much work to be done in the area of education. Maybe you should petition your politicians and check your haste. |
ozoigbondu:It's nice that you have females participating in politics but if your state is not developing what that does that actually mean? |
citizenjuwon:How do you think she got the money to run for office? The people who accepted her candidacy are stupid. The people who voted for her even more so. |
And people said that homosexual marriage would never be tolerated in Nigeria. |
They both sell fake medicine so they are equally destructive. |
Chiefpriest1:Madueke is as greedy as anyone. Yar'adua may not have been implicated in any corruption scandals but his wife was reported in the wikileaks documents as a member of a corrupt northern political class. To say that women are more or less greedy or capable or detailed is nonsensical - there is no evidence for that. They are just as capable in all things, including the ability to be crooked and incompetent. If you really want proof ask at any state secretariat, there are a number of female permanent secretaries - some are good at their jobs, others are atrocious, just like the men. |
rozayx5:That is why I guys like Akpabio have been able to wonderful things as governor, most of the people in his team have track records for achieving in the private sector. I'm glad that he has passed the baton onto another man of his caliber, this is how it should be - those with a proven history in private business should be invited to run for public office. We need to do away with those who have done nothing but be career politicians, civil servants with millions of dollars in assets or generals with no administration experience. |
