A good fairy tale needs to be mesmerizing - forgiveness would not be as entertaining to read about as wholesale slaughter.

Yes, this looks believable.

I might find this amusing were it not for the plethora of moronic notions and myths that plague Nigerian society.

So you believe God or gods possibly exist! grin

Prove that there is a chance God exists.
I am convinced that the theory to which you subscribe to is false.

I am also convinced that you have strong doubts hence why you insist on talking around the issue - why would you ask someone to 'prove that there is a chance God exists'?

Oh! I thought you said 'God may exist' here:

Possible is not 'probable'.

I like how you ignored the 'or may not'..

A negative can be proven!

You believe God probably exists.

That is enough for me. If it isn't enough for you, then maybe you should prove that there is a possibility of God's existence.
I have never said that god probably exists (please don't make up more lies). It is a theory but it is unlikely to be true.

I pointed out (and I stress) that it is not possible to refute every ridiculous theory that mankind creates.

P.S.
An exclamation mark does not make something true.

I dunno what you're talking about.

You said 'God may exist.'

I said 'that is enough.'

If you think it isnt enough, then please explain why you think there is a chance that God exists.
You said 'that is enough' without explaining what it is enough for.

I said 'may exist' because a negative cannot be proven.

I might be the Messiah. You might be the devil. Atlantis may have existed. The Loch Ness Monster might be a reality. They might all be true but are all unlikely - similarly Catholic dogma.

But it was you who said 'God or gods may exist.'

Why are you then asking me what happens to these religions? grin
Because you are the one who claimed that the fact that a negative cannot be proven is 'enough'.

Enough for whom?

There may be a god so everyone should accept Catholic dogma?

The Muslims also claim that there is a god, what happens to their dogma?

How about the Jews?
Christianity Etc › Re: What's Christianity Turning To In Nigeria, Particularly In The South East by mmsen: 1:59pm On Dec 01, 2014
Religion has always been about business.

How can you be so naive?

You think the Catholic Church simply stumbled across the billions of dollars that it now has control over?
Christianity Etc › Re: A Reasonable Quote Atheist Should Think About by mmsen: 1:57pm On Dec 01, 2014
There may or may not be a god or several but it's curious how these gods need spokespeople who often profit financially by using said gods as a means to extract resources from the sheep.

Congrats Take Ibori.BTW she has the right to vie for any political office after all she is also a Nigerian.Nigerians need to grow up.We can't keep on living in the dark ages.Other countries have moved on but Nigerians are still backward as regards family and relatives of leaders involving in politics. The Bush dynasty,Kenedys and Clintons comes to mind.
Elections are popularity contests, at best.

Those dynasties are a sign of a broken system. How did either Bush aid American development?

Why are so many of you intent on following Westerners down the path of self-destruction?

I'm curious.

I've seen the word 'pagan' used in the Nigerian context without anyone ever explaining what the difference is.

There seems to be an undercurrent of negativity when the word 'pagan' is used, why is that?

Thanks.
Christianity Etc › Re: My Father Plan To Curse Me On My Wedding Day, What Can I Do? by mmsen: 1:15pm On Nov 11, 2014
Whenever I see a woman quote the Bible I always think of these verses:

1 Corinthians 14:34-36
Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

1 Timothy 2:11-15
Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection. But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence. For Adam was first formed, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression. Notwithstanding she shall be saved in childbearing.

Why are the following instructions never adhered to?

It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. -- 1 Corinthians 7:1-2

For I would that all men were even as I myself.... I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. -- 1 Corinthians 7:7-9

Genesis 3:16
Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.

The Bible is full of contempt for women, from the first book 'til the last yet some women insist on quoting from it...
Christianity Etc › Re: Christians- Myles Munroe's Death More Important Than 47 Dead Nigerian Children by mmsen: 11:16am On Nov 11, 2014
The true god of the Nigerian xtian is not the imaginary god of Abraham.

Their god is lucre and status.

Myles Munroe is a man that I had never heard of but I now know he was a man of status and thus a god to the sheep.

This is nothing new but pitiful nonetheless.

Educate yourself.

An old man saying a few words into the wind is not going to hurt you.

If he instructs some one else to harm you that is something else entirely.

P.S.

Your story is remarkably long winded.
Christianity Etc › Re: Why Is Christianity Diminishing In Europe And America? by mmsen: 2:22pm On Nov 09, 2014
It was a trend that had its uses for those in power.

That use has now vanished and thus we have a new cult of consumerism and individualism.

Most people are sheep. They may have vanquished one backwards practice but it has only been replaced by another peculiar trend.

Can't you see your interpretations are not for this topic. The topic didn't say All Women, World over, all encompassing. It says Nigerian, Christian, may not. Supposing , the investigation was done with a sample size of all unmarried Christian women in Nigeria to make it thorough, there will still be escapees, who will never conform with the results of such study.
So why working yourself up or rather which camp do you belong? Reading in between the lines of your posts makes you a suspect
1. I'm not female.

2. If I mention that women all over the world possess these traits and yet manage to marry then that wold include xtian women.

This was a silly thread.

I wish people would stop rehashing the same stagnant nonsense.

Make original posts or don't do it at all.
Christianity Etc › Re: Top Reasons Many Christian Ladies May Never Marry by mmsen: 9:50pm On Nov 02, 2014
There are many women, the world over who have suffered and continue to suffer with some of these traits but are married.

This post is nonsensical.

Why can't you just respect other people's faith and beliefhuhhuh?

Am not a roman catholic,I attend CAC but common learn to respect other people's belief, If u don't belief in it,Then don't condemn it,Leave them and let them do whatever they like!!!
Simple!
Bad ideas spread much like viruses and disease and can be just as destructive.

If you allow a false idea to flourish by ignoring it you have behaved irresponsibly.
Christianity Etc › Re: Happy All Saints' Day To Catholic: You Too Can Be A Saint! by mmsen:
Zikamax:
Matt27:51-53 said it all, its better u go through it cos it seems u use ur Bible for pillow. Catholic church is a church instituted by Christ himself when He said to Peter,"And I tell u, u ar Peter, nd on dis rock I will build my church, nd d powers of death shall not prevail against it. I will give u d key of d kingdom of heaven, nd whatever u bind on earth shall b bound in heaven, nd whatever u loose on earth shall b loosed in heaven."Mtt16:18-19. And saint Peter is d first catholic pope, so if u can't accept us catholics try nd accept d Holy Saints, d Holy Marthyrs. Saint Peter, Mary, Martin, Gabrial, Michael, John, Agnes, Andrew, John Paul II etc pray for us.
So your claim is that despite everything that the so called 'word of god' has to say the Catholic Church was granted a license to make up as much dogma as it desires...which would include idolatry and selling access to heaven.

Mental slavery clearly has its appeal but it's lost on me.
