Christianity Etc › Re: I Now See Why Many Protestants Accuse Catholics Of Idolatry by mmsen: 11:19am On Aug 29, 2014
italo: BECAUSE THEY ARE BLOODY JEALOUS HYPOCRITES!

Or how else can we explain it that protestants bow, kneel, prostrate and even enslave themselves to the bible (a book) and their pastors (men)...

Yet turn around to complain about Catholics?
You're right, Catholics and Protestants are equally misguided.

Danhumprey: It's now a war between Catholics and Protestants? Smh!
There have always been wars between Protestants and Catholics.

Have you never heard of the Irish troubles? Or the various other conflicts fought in Europe between the two factions?

TheBigUrban2: Ask Pastor AIO and Texanomaly about their christian views.

The typical british christian is a liberal one.

But you are a typical Nigerian christian....meaning that you are a conservative bigot. Sorry
Religious bigotry is more acceptable in some places than others - where you have gross inequality and minimal state involvement in the reduction of said inequality, bigotry usually follows.

This is why you can be a religious bigot in a Nigeria or Texas but not so much in northern Europe.

She doesn't say anything of note.

I actually don't know who or what she is referring to.

Nor do I care.

RikoduoSennin: If the bolded is true, what then can be said about Atheism and Agnosticism. They too as much as anybody else manifest these two traits as well as others. Arrogance, intolerance, Pride, haughtiness etc you name it!
No
It is wrong to believe/Conclude this traits are heightened because of religion. They are in all of us but some religion like christianity helps its members to control/get rid of those traits not the other way around.
Agnosticism is not a religion. If anything it describes an indifference to the allure of religion.

You have zero evidence for your claim that xtianity helps to get rid of these negative traits. It that were truly the case there would not be so many different churches, each with different dogmas and hierarchies.

Did you know that animosity between the Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant churches is so great that the keys for some of the major xtian tourist sites in Israel have to be kept by Muslims...

All religions help to foster an "us" vs "them" mentality.

If you are not part of the in group then you are destined for some unknown, horrible place in the afterlife...

Christianity Etc › Re: Can The Church One Attends Hinder One From Making Heaven? by mmsen: 10:32am On Aug 27, 2014
JWs claim only 144,000 people will go to heaven.

By that estimation the overwhelming majority of the church going sheep are really wasting their time in trying to placate this rapacious god of theirs.

latino2swt: stil don't get d gist... pls can u help me more by throwin more light on it? thanks
If you are foolish enough to believe that:

1. A benevolent god created the world then banished the only two human beings that he created from the garden that he created for them because they ate a piece of fruit

2. That same god had to come to the earth as his own son, forcing a young betrothed woman to carry him. Then commit deicide in order that the 'sins' of mankind be forgiven.

Then your judgement should never be trusted.
Christianity Etc › Re: Christian Participation/Involvement In Politics: Right Or Wrong? by mmsen: 7:09am On Aug 01, 2014
Anyone irrational enough to believe in the xtian message should recuse themselves from public life.

Christianity Etc › Re: Agnostics, Atheists, Humanists, Sceptics Let's Now Form Our Organisation by mmsen: 11:42am On Jul 25, 2014
TheBigUrban2: It doesnt exist, smartazz

They arent registered in Nigeria (they've been continuously turned down from being regsitered for "religiously bigoted unspecific"reasons)...but they have a facebook
Not being registered means that they are not recognised by the state that is not the same as not existing.
Christianity Etc › Re: Agnostics, Atheists, Humanists, Sceptics Let's Now Form Our Organisation by mmsen: 8:33am On Jul 25, 2014
You could join the preexisting Nigerian Humanist Association.
Christianity Etc › Re: Do Nigerians Hate Atheists More Than Gays? by mmsen: 10:24pm On Jul 24, 2014
If Nigerian xtians are anything like their counterparts elsewhere in the world then they are probably willing to tolerate the homosexuals in the church so long as they appear to be 'doing the Lord's work'.

Vision2045: ....Tell me the point of communication of others to you...The bible and the Quran is the Gods medium of communication to humanity take it or leave it...both contains thing that have happened, that is happening and will happen...don't educate yourself wrongly..I respect your freedom of choice...but your kind of choice I don't respect...forget the fact that people re taking religious for what its not...read any1 u can read out of the 2...I sense u re educated and intelligent...read it with a open mind...question some things and it will reveal the answer to u.
If god inspired the Quran or the Bible then he is a god of confusion and mediocrity. Why send two books - one in Arabic, the other in a plethora of middle eastern languages that are not and were not understood outside of that immediate region.

Also, most people of the time were not literate so what sense does it make to send a book to those who cannot read?
