Buhari: From criminalizing and dividing Nigerians to dissing Nigerian youth

A president is supposed to be a country’s chief salesperson, biggest motivator, uniter-in-chief, and most enthusiastic fan. President Muhammadu Buhari, unfortunately, is none of these. He disdains Nigerians, is contemptuous of our youth, and widens our national fault-lines through his unwise, divisive utterances and actions, as I will show shortly. Former US First Lady Michelle Obama once said, “Being president doesn’t change who you are; it reveals who you are.” The presidency is revealing the real Buhari in starker, blunter, more direct ways than we’ve ever known.
President Buhari has become our biggest “demarketer,” to use Nigerian financial lingo. He chooses international arenas to circulate and authorize negative stereotypes about Nigerians and to pathologize hardworking diasporan Nigerians. For instance, during a three-day visit to the UK in February 2016, Buhari told the UK’s Telegraph newspaper that “Nigerians’ reputation for crime has made them unwelcome in Britain.” That was a remarkably below-the-belt dig.
“Some Nigerians’ claim is that life is too difficult back home, but they have also made it difficult for Europeans and Americans to accept them because of the number of Nigerians in prisons all over the world accused of drug trafficking or human trafficking,” he told The Telegraph. But that’s an intellectually impoverished, empirically problematic, broad-brush stereotypical generalization that feeds racist, xenophobic fantasies about Nigerians. There are infinitely more Nigerians abroad who excel in multiple areas of human endeavor than there are who traffic in crime.
In the United States, for instance, Nigerians are the most educated demographic group. They have supplanted Asians as America’s “model minority.” It’s the same in the UK and elsewhere. During Buhari’s medical tourism to the UK last year, several British journalists joked that Buhari would most likely be treated by Nigerian doctors in the UK, indicating the dominance of Nigerians in UK medical practice.
In addition, according to the World Bank, diasporan Nigerians remitted $22 billion back home in 2017 alone. It was $35 billion in 2016, which the UN said was the 6th largest diasporan remittance in the entire world. Yet the president of the country that has this distinction chose to isolate the indiscretions of a few criminal elements to pathologize all Nigerians living abroad. And he did this in a foreign land to a foreign media outlet!
You would think that the UK and the US that Buhari chose to validate don’t have criminals. Unfortunately for Buhari, the US and the UK lead Nigeria in all categories of crimes, including internet crime for which Nigeria is unfairly notorious, according to their own statistics. Yet US presidents and UK prime ministers would never be caught denigrating and criminalizing their compatriots-certainly not in a foreign country. In fact, no president worth the title ever goes to another country to stigmatize his or her citizens.
Buhari’s latest denunciation of Nigerians from a foreign country was directed at the Nigerian youth. “More than 60 percent of the population is below 30,” he said at the Commonwealth Business Forum in the UK on Wednesday. “A lot of them haven’t been to school and they are claiming that Nigeria is an oil producing country, therefore, they should sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free.”
This is from a president who supervises a government that serially engages in secretive, illegal employment of the children and relatives of high-ranking political elites (including his) in well-oiled, high-paying government agencies while millions of brilliant, hardworking but underprivileged young people vegetate in agonizing misery- or condemned to getting low-paying, temporary N-Power jobs.
This is a president whose presidential campaign in 2015 benefited from the voluntary financial contributions of hundreds of thousands of young Nigerians across the country. The Buhari campaign made a big PR show of primary and secondary school students who saved and donated their lunch money to the Buhari campaign. Three years later, Buhari goes to London and calls these young Nigerians lazy, uneducated, and entitled; as people who want to “sit and do nothing, and get housing, healthcare, education free.”
Well, these are not the young people I see when I travel to Nigeria. They are not the young Nigerians I interact with on social media. The vast majority of young Nigerians I know are creative, imaginative, self-driven people who are stymied by the suffocatingly dysfunctional system that Buhari and his predecessors created and perpetually reproduce. When Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg visited Nigeria in September 2016, he said he was “blown me away by the talents of young entrepreneurs and developers in this country [who are] making a difference and making a change.” Those are the young people I also see.
Maybe Buhari is describing his children-and himself. His son, Yusuf, has no job, rides multi-million-naira power bikes, has free housing, and received top-notch German medical care at the expense of Nigerian taxpayers when he had a bike accident. If Buhari insists he is describing “most” Nigerian youth, not his children who are mooching off Nigeria’s resources, then his disconnect from reality is more severe than we had previously imagined.
When the president isn’t stigmatizing and dissing Nigerians abroad, he broadens and lubricates our primordial fissures at home though his utterances. Even as president with a national mandate, Buhari can’t resist the unhelpful, needlessly divisive “we-northerners-versus-they-southerners” rhetoric. In a December 2017 video, for example, which I shared on Facebook and Twitter, Buhari thanked Kano people for coming out en masse to welcome him and said, “saboda yan kudu su san har yanzu inada gata.” Rough translation: “… so that Southerners can see how favored I still am.” That was gratuitous divisiveness.
Utterances like this from people who wield enormous symbolic power like the president of the country gravely undermine efforts at national cohesion. It shows that even as a person who enjoys the perks and privileges of national leadership, he still sees Nigeria in dichotomous, mutually exclusive binaries: as “we northerners” and “they southerners.”
That dichotomization is indefensible, especially by a sitting president who was voted into power by both southerners and northerners; who wouldn’t have been a president if he was voted only by northerners, who always glibly talks about Nigeria’s unity being “non-negotiable,” whose utterances have far greater ramifications for Nigeria’s unity than any Nigerian alive today, and who still seeks to be voted into power for a second term with votes from even the “yan kudu.”
If he had said “so that my opponents will know that I still have gata,” that wouldn’t have raised any eyebrows. But why did he need to show off to the yan kudu? Are Southerners his enemies? Aren’t they part of the Nigerians he swore to serve?
That he said this at a public event where he knew he could- or would- be recorded is what is even sadder than the fact that he said it at all. It shows that he, in fact, doesn’t even pretend to be a Nigerian nationalist who sees all of Nigeria as one. No past, not to talk of incumbent, head of state or president has ever said anything even close to this in public. If Buhar’s second term, which he appears poised to get, doesn’t end Nigeria as we know it, nothing ever will again.

By John Owen Nwachukwu

The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central district in the Senate, Senator Shehu Sani has mocked President Muhammadu Buhari over his ‘change begins with me’ campaign.
According to Sani, the ‘change begins with me’ campaign that was launched two years ago, was already dead.
DAILY POST recall that Buhari had in September 8 2016, flagged off the “Change begins with me” campaign.
The campaign came more than fifteen months after he assumed power as an elected president.
The main goal of the programme was to instil discipline and patriotism in Nigerians.
The programme was initiated by the National Orientation Agency, NOA, under the Federal Ministry of Information and Culture.
Speaking during the launch, Buhari had said that “Nigerians can contribute to ‘change’ through the way we conduct ourselves, engage our neighbours, friends and generally how we relate with the larger society in a positive and definitive way and manner that promotes our common good and common destiny…”
However, in a tweet on Tuesday morning, Shehu Sani, who has since dumped the All Progressives Congress, APC, ahead of the 2019 general elections, noted that the campaign had disappeared into abyss.
He tweeted, “Change begins with me’ has disappeared into the abyss.”

PoliticsBREAKING!: Jukuns Back Atiku! by Modarun(op): 1:50pm On Nov 20, 2018
Jukun back Atiku

Posted By: Adeyinka Aderibigbe On: November 20, 2018

The apex Jukun socio-political organisation Jukuns Development Association of Nigeria (JDAN) and other groups such as Jukuns Leaders of Thoughts (JLT) as well as women and youth groups have resolved to support the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and his running mate Peter Obi in the 2019 Presidential election slated for February next yea
Briefing newsmen after an emergency meeting of the leaders of the Jukun nation in Lagos, JDAN National President Chief Bako Benjamin, said the endorsement followed “very wide consultation among our people.”
He said this is coming on the heels of what the Jukun nation has suffered in recent time, and the orgy of killings of thousands of innocent Jukuns by marauding herdsmen.
“We are bothered as a people and we have decided to take our destiny in our hands and make our stand concerning this very important election known to Nigerians and the rest of the world ahead of the coming polls,” Benjamin said.
He lamented that the Jukun people never had it tougher than they are presently going through in recent history.
He recounted how hundreds of his people were displaced, killed, and exiled from their farms and ancestral homes by marauding herdsmen, who also burnt down their victims’ farms without protection and support from the government.
According to him, the Jukun people are not happy that their homelands have been turned into a land flowing with blood of innocent farmers by marauding gun totting herdsmen. “Rather than sending words of sympathy, support and protection, soldiers were instead sent to shoot our youths who dare to defend themselves and their communities, arresting many unarmed youngsters and ignoring the murderous herdsmen who were provided cover while they made their escape with their guns.”
Benjamin said the Jukuns were filled with high hopes when President Muhammadu Buhari assumed office having being helped by our son Gen. TY Danjuma, but we soon regretted when he stabbed us in the back with betrayal.
He said all Jukuns will prefer to try Atiku in the coming election and “we would massively vote for him at the poll.”

PoliticsNEXTLEVEL: Buhari Will Use F.G Lands To Set Up Cattle Colonies. by Modarun(op): 1:36pm On Nov 20, 2018
The delay by state governments in providing land for ranches has made the Federal Government to realise that it has more than enough land for the purpose in the different states, The Federal Government has decided to use some of its own land in various parts of the country for the establishment of ranches in order to put an end to clashes between herders and farmers across the nation.
It was learnt that the Federal Government ’ s decision was prompted by the continued delay of state governments in providing land for ranches .
Our correspondent gathered that the Federal Government would use its land as well as some identified grazing reserves for the establishment of ranches.
On July 14 , 2018 , it was exclusively reported by Saturday PUNCH that with the refusal of some state governors to give land for ranching, the Federal Government had decided to reactivate and convert about 177 out of the 415 grazing reserves across the country to ranches .
It was also reported that aside from Kogi State that had officially agreed to provide about 5, 000 hectares of land , no other state had publicly announced willingness to provide land for ranches or cattle colonies , which the Federal Government favours .
Governors of the South- East states in July rose from a meeting in Enugu with a decision that no land would be made available for the establishment of cattle ranches in the zone, while other states have deliberately been delaying in acceding to the request of the Federal Government.
Officials of the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, however , stated that the Federal Government was still making plans to establish ranches across the country despite the delay by state governments .
They told our correspondent in Abuja that the government recently realised that it had more than enough land for this purpose.
The Director , FMARD , Tolu Makinde , said , “The latest decision is that the government has more land than required, even as far as ranching is concerned . There are various pieces of land in different locations across the country that have been documented and gazetted, the Federal Government has decided that it is better to use them than ask state governments to donate land .
“So , the decision has been taken and the issue now is funding, but as soon as the release from the 2018 budget starts to come in, the government will come up directly with what it intends to do. So many options are being considered .”
Makinde noted that with the latest development, the government would not compel any state to donate land for the establishment of ranches or grazing reserves .
He, however , observed that a lot of people had encroached on some of the Federal Government ’ s grazing reserves , adding that the remaining ones and the available land were more than enough for the establishment of cattle ranches .
Makinde added , “The fact now is that the government has discovered that it has more land and it is not compelling any state to donate land for grazing reserves or for ranches.
“It may interest you to know that the number of grazing reserves that the government has ; some of them have been encroached upon . However, the remaining available ones are more than enough .”
When asked to state where the Federal Government ’ s pieces of land were located , he replied, “Before Nigeria got independence , the colonial masters actually had land scattered from Maiduguri to Sokoto , up to Oyo. These were large expanses of land that were mainly left for only grazing .
“And so , when the herders are migrating with their cattle, they go to these pieces of land ; they don ’ t go to the land of other people. But problem started when we now decided to create states, as some of the land fell within some states. And some state governments decided to take them over .
“However, the ones that are documented and gazetted right now are more than enough for the Federal Government to use , instead of asking state governments to donate . So , it is the gazetted land that the government is trying to do something about as well as the identified grazing reserves .”
Another official of the ministry stated that the government would use the gazetted land as demonstration grazing centres.
“The government is going to use the gazetted land as demonstration centres, because it will have security there. There will be dams in these grazing centres to ensure adequate water supply , ” the official , who pleaded to remain anonymous, said.
“This is because three things are required in these centres. There must be security , water and fodder , which is grass for the cattle to feed on. So , anybody who wants to make use of the place will bring his livestock there and pay some token . This is against the earlier claim that the government is trying to take the land of citizens, ” the official stated.
The ministry said it would commence public enlightenment campaigns to educate Nigerians on the need to create ranches and why the Federal Government would use its own land for the purpose .
“It is becoming clear now that we don ’ t have any vibrant alternative to addressing the clashes than the establishment of ranches . And this is because it is going to benefit the farmers and herdsmen . Also , the minister ( of agriculture ) recently revealed that there is going to be a programme for artificial insemination in some of these centres , ” Makinde stated .
He noted that a number of state governments gave indication that they would provide land for ranches , but only Kogi State had fulfilled its part .
It was also learnt that about 15 other states had volunteered to provide land for the establishment of cattle ranches .
They include Adamawa , Kano , Kaduna , Katsina , Zamfara, Kebbi , Nasarawa and Plateau .
Others are Bauchi , Gombe , Borno, Jigawa , Yobe, Niger and Kwara states.
Findings from the headquarters of the FMARD in Abuja showed that while there were dissenting voices in some of the documented states that had volunteered to provide land , the 15 states had agreed to provide 5 , 000 hectares of land each for the establishment of ranches.
Earlier this year , the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Audu Ogbeh , announced that the establishment of cattle colonies in the states that had volunteered land would commence within weeks .
This, however , has not happened .
Senior officials at the agriculture ministry re -echoed what Ogbeh said , as they stressed that the Federal Government would not force any state to volunteer land for the initiative .
The officials , however , stated that the 16 northern states had been documented as locations where the initiative would start , adding that the government was canvassing support from more states , particularly from the southern part of the country.
Ogbeh’ s Special Assistant on Media , Olukayode Oyeleye , and Makinde provided our correspondent with various speeches by the minister, which extensively explained how the Federal Government planned to go about the initiative .

PoliticsWhy APC Is Panicky Over Atiku/obi Ticket by Modarun(op): 10:55am On Nov 20, 2018
For many voters, the Atiku/Obi ticket, is is seen as a partnership that will coordinate a rescue of the many problems currently facing our country.

In politics, some moments blaze merrily with great expectations. They give a certain appetite that despite the darkest years, hope springs from eternal. It’s a time when people begin to hunger for, to use the cliché, a new menu. In a presidential race, the moment blazes even more cheerily when the partners in a ticket not only add to each other’s strengths, but complement each other’s perceived weaknesses, in addition to be fully qualified as President.
That’s exactly the enthusiastic reaction that greeted the nomination of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar as the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at the party’s national convention in Port Harcourt , Rivers State recently, and Mr. Peter Obi as Vice Presidential pick. The Atiku/Obi ticket is widely seen as a gift that will inspire and unite our people of diverse ethnic backgrounds who have been disillusioned, divided and short-changed by the ruling All Progressives Congress(APC) government. Therefore, for many emerging, energetic voters, the Atiku/Obi ticket, is indeed, seen as a partnership that will coordinate a rescue of the many problems currently facing our country.
It was in furtherance of this that the serene Nike Lake Resort Hotel, Enugu, last Wednesday hosted the largest assemblage of ‘Who’s Who’ in Igboland since the present political dispensation. The gathering was extraordinary. The setting looked like a royal garden party. Anyone who is somebody in the South-East was there – Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Igbo leaders of thought, the political elite, the intelligentsia, women groups, religious leaders – all resolved to support the Atiku/Obi ticket. It’s no longer time to sit on the fence. That was the message.
Since that successful meeting at Nike Lake Resort Hotel, and the communiqué that was issued about the unalloyed support and endorsement of the Atiku/Obi ticket and the reasons why the South-East leaders have taken that stand, APC leaders have been in panic mood. They have been scratching their hands over how to respond to the South-East endorsement, and how to kick off its Presidential campaign which began on Sunday.
I thought the APC has promised issues-based campaign, driven by ideas and decorum, devoid of mudslinging, inflammatory statements and personal attacks. Don’t bet on APC and its leaders to stick to the rules of decent electioneering campaign. Shortly after the Nike Lake meeting, President Muhammadu Buhari tried fruitlessly to diminish the endorsement by saying he received many calls from certain South-East leaders(he didn’t mention names) who assured him that he (Buhari) should not take the Atiku/Obi endorsement serious.
Few days ago, as usual, Adams Oshiomhole, the APC national Chairman flew off the handle with his sharp, quick tongue that has put his party in its present drowning stupor. He unleashed verbal swipes at Obi, claiming falsely that the people of South-East rejected Obi. This is not only a distortion of facts, but the most disingenuous, most inappropriate disparagement of Obi’s legacy and the cheers that received his nomination as VP candidate of PDP across the geopolitical zone. That one or two disgruntled politicians with no national appeal cried they were not “consulted”, does not, and cannot diminish the credentials and unquestioned competence and integrity that Obi brings into the PDP Presidential ticket.
But don’t be fooled by the fast and loose with the facts that the APC is playing on the PDP presidential ticket. It’s not hard to decipher why the APC is losing sleep already. All of us know the stakes are high in the 2019 election, in particular, the presidential poll. APC has lost a lot of ground as a result of the crises from its primaries. The crises are deepening and the party also drowning, less than three months to the February date. It’s not unkind to say that no ruling party in our recent political history has squandered as much public trust as APC, and President Buhari as well in less than four years of been in power. This cannot be a bragging right for a ruling party seeking to be reelected.
Swinging like a pendulum between an instinct to bully its opponents and playing fast and loose with the facts when what the voters want is truth simply spoken, will not help the APC in these campaigns. Nigeria is currently confronted with challenges of immediate sorts. And attack on personalities is pretty hollow. It is a nervous, arrogant and egotistical way to tackle issues Nigerians want to hear on the campaign trail and the solutions to these problems.
This must be said: The majority of South-Easterners see the Atiku/Obi ticket as an exceptional one for the prize of the highest political office in the land – the Presidency. I wish the President would take a serial notebook in hand with few security officials with him to the South-East. He would see how angry the people are with his party.
For them, APC represents a misfortune. That’s not to say there are no good Igbo men and women in APC in the zone. As one angry Imo citizen, an APC-controlled state told me recently,’voting for APC again will be like rewarding somebody who killed my father and wants to marry my mother’. That’s how sad many people feel about APC.
Beyond that, the heart-dropping pictures of dilapidated roads, particularly the highways, are indeed depressing. Not even during the civil war did the roads in the zone become such death traps. The Second Niger Bridge remains a serial political promise that never get fulfilled by the Federal Government. The Sunday Sun of November 20, 2016, captured this in features titled: “Pain, agony over deplorable federal roads in South-East”. In short, the people of the South-East feel like “conquered” enclave, 48 years after the war ended. The President may not be moved by the plight of the South-East. Recall he was quoted to have said few years ago that it made no sense to give much attention to a geopolitical zone that gave him five percent of the votes he scored in 2015. Maybe, this time around it will be less than five percent, if all votes should count.
That appears to be one of the reasons why the South-East is standing with Atiku/Obi ticket. If you say it’s a gamble fraught with unknown political implications, some risks may be worth taking, after all. One thing is however clear, and that is the known: For many from the South-East, the APC has come far short on leadership, competence and effectiveness. The party has become more of a divider than a uniter. It lacks cross-functional team spirit to rally people around it. Besides, APC lacks that managerial attribute called ‘Social Capital’, that ability to connect with the people and shape their aspirations to meet individual and collective goals.
Although few other presidential hopefuls like Prof. Kingsley Moghalu and Dr. Oby Ezekwesili, have blueprints that appeal to me, the Atiku/Obi ticket has a more detailed blueprint on where it intends to take Nigeria in the next four years. The document is specific on issues on restructuring, security, economy, healthcare, Youth and employment, corruption, women empowerment, etc.
When the ‘old order’ has failed to deliver, what do you do? This is how former American President, Gerald Ford put it in his memoir, “A Time To Heal”, “when you’re behind in the Fourth quarter of a football game and time is running out on the clock, there’s only one thing to do: Throw the bomb”. That’s why the APC is in a panic mood right now.

This is why he thinks sharing 10k would make any change, that 10k has been spent on food stuffs. The lawmaker representing Kaduna Central district, Senator Shehu Sani, has warned President Muhammadu Buhari’s government against deceiving Nigerians.
The lawmaker said the figure released by the National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, showed that unemployment and poverty were on the rise, wondering why government officials were telling Nigerians that job and wealth creation were on the upward surge.
He noted that the reality was that Nigerians were poorer now with many youths out of job, adding that the falsification should stop.
Senator Sani tweeted, “The recent figures on job loses coming from the NBS contradicts the claims consistently made by Government officials on the surge in job creation or wealth creation.
“The reality now is that unemployment and poverty are on the rise.

PoliticsBlame Buhari For Loss Of $2.8bn GE Investment - PDP by Modarun(op): 1:13pm On Nov 19, 2018
By Adedayo Akinwale
Abuja — The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) yesterday said President Muhammadu Buhari administration has caused the country another huge economic setback following the withdrawal of General Electric (GE) from a $2.8 billion railway concession deal due to the harsh economic policies of his administration.
The main opposition party said Buhari administration is the major economic challenge facing Nigeria as a country, stressing that the country has continued to reel under the administration characterised by economic stagnation, high inflation, soaring unemployment and harsh regulatory regime that scare away investors.
The party in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Kola Ologbondiyan, urged Nigerians to dismiss the Next Level mantra introduced as Buhari's 2019 slogan, saying that the President has failed to deliver on his 2015 electioneering campaign promises.
He said from all indications, it is clear that there is no way the country's economy could survive if the Buhari administration is allowed to be on the saddle for another four year.
Ologbondiyan stated, "The next level Buhari administration can take Nigeria to can only be severe hunger and pains beyond what Nigerians have been experiencing in the last three and half years."
"The withdrawal of GE and the continued exiting, from our country, of other huge foreign investors, due to unabated unfriendly polices, the Buhari Presidency has cost Nigerians the much needed commercial and employment opportunities and further frustrated the development of the
nation."
"The refusal of the incompetent and anti-development Buhari administration to institute and drive arable economic direction and reforms; its resort to heavy taxation, heavy sanctions and blame games have led us to a sorry state where investors keep existing our economy."
The PDP said this was evident in the capital importation report of the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) for the second quarter of 2018, which showed critical drop in capital importation in Q2 relative Q1 2018 with no hope in sight under Buhari.

Its a good thing all your useless writevups wont get to the ordinary Nigeria on the streets of Lagos, Kano, PH and so on, to these people it is what they see, expereince the past 3 and half years thatvwould determine who they would vote. They slaughtered children because of Cows and the Fossil in Aso rock was justifying it, yet some of you are here posting rubish.

Nitel had less than 3500 workforce, that were paid in several billions ever year to maintain just about 500k phone lines. Imagine? 500,000 fone lines to service over 160million people. They unbundled it opened the market and now we have over 60million Nigerians with fone lines, the nunber of people employed directly by telcos alone is morethan 3500, not to mention those employed service companies the contract to service the telcos, how about the million of Nigerians making a living from the products of these telcos.? You guys are just dumb.
You say they should leave NNPC, what exactly has the been doing about fuel scarcity? They dont do anything, they dnt drill oil, they go into joint consetials with other company, seat in their office collect royalties while the Oil major make a killing.
Now the new song of the Buhari led Oli ministry is that Oil imports would end by 2019, what Nigerians dont realize os that the APC has hinged her hopes on Dangote refinery, they want to decieve Nigerians that it was them they will end the import of Crude oil products, when in actual facts they are hoping on Dangote Refinery.
None of the Refineries are working, but these marauders wants us to keep funding that useless Corporation.

PoliticsPDP Accuses Buhari Of Dividing Nigerians by Modarun(op): 1:58am On Nov 18, 2018
The Peoples Democratic Party on Saturday accused President Muhammadu Buhari and the All Progressives Congress of dividing Nigerians and their families .
The Publicity Secretary of the PDP , Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, said Buhari had exhibited his alleged divisive tendency in his appointments, adding that the President did not have the required strength to carry Nigerians along and offer quality leadership as well as good governance .
He spoke in Abuja while answering questions from journalists on the sidelines of a visit by Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria led by its President , Mr James Emeh .
According to the PDP spokesperson, the presidential candidate of the PDP , Atiku Abubakar, is a ‘ unifier’ and has been accepted across the country.
He said , “ Our party is a unifier and we have brought a candidate that is known and accepted across the federation as a unifier . Our neighbours , the APC, and its presidential candidate is known for divisive tendencies either in terms of appointment or choice of friends . But whichever way you access him, you will find out that he does not have the required strength across the country.”
Ologbondiyan also accused the APC of dividing the family of former President Olusegun Obasanjo .
He alleged that the APC had induced a family member of Obasanjo to speak against the former president because he was now supporting the PDP and Atiku.
He said , “ The most unfortunate thing that is manifesting in the 2019 campaign on the side of Mr President and his party is that they are now going into individual families and creating divisions . For instance, in 2014 and 2015 , former President Olusegun Obasanjo supported President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC; at no point in the history of 2014 and 2015 election did the APC go into his family to cause any division . Just because President Olusegun Obasanjo is not supporting the APC today , they are beginning to induce the member of his family to come out and speak against him.”
The PDP spokesperson also urged the APC National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole, to clear his name of many corruption allegations levelled against him.
He also said Oshiomhole ’ s alleged accusation of the PDP as party with disharmony was uncalled for , adding that the PDP had been accepted by Nigerians.
Ologbondiyan said, “There are issues bordering on corruption concerning him ( Oshiomhole ) . There is a gentleman from his home state who is in court seeking an order of mandamus to compel the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to investigate the chairman of the APC on corruption issues. So , an upright man will work up to the EFCC and say ‘ investigate me.’ Until he does that , the PDP with our candidate that has been accepted in Nigeria is not prepared to engage in frivolous discussions of division or disharmony. Those are the attributes of the APC. Those are the things the APC and its candidate are known for , causing division in families; causing division across the nation; and creating disharmony among states.
“That is what the PDP is not known for . We are a party that unites this nation . We have a candidate that is accepted in the North-West, South- West; we have a candidate that is at home in the South- East and North-East . We have a candidate that Nigerians are rallying in the North-Central and South- South. We have a candidate who understands the nuances of Nigerians, and who is ready to spend his time to provide jobs for the youth and the generation that is coming after us. ”

PoliticsN5.8bn Scandal: Make Refunds, Seek Restitution Now, PDP Tells Osinbajo by Modarun(op): 5:10pm On Nov 17, 2018
By Dirisu Yakubu
ABUJA – The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has tasked Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, to search his soul, seek forgiveness and make restitution for entangling himself in alleged corruption and sharp practices in the concealment of N5.8 billion Northeast Intervention Fund.
In a statement by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said “it is heart-rending that Osinbajo, despite his sanctimonious posturing, is being fingered in the frittering of the N5.8 billion meant for the purchase of food and general welfare of suffering Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs, in the Northeast.”
The statement read: “Professor Osinbajo should know that he has come to the end of the road and that Nigerians have completely lost faith in him, since the House of Representatives exposed his complicity in this unpardonable debauchery against weak and vulnerable citizens.
“Instead of asking for forgiveness and making restitutions, Osinbajo is busy trying to divert attention from the reeking corruption of the Buhari administration, while bandying figures in an attempt to distance himself from the failures of this administration.
“Is it not revealing of the arrogance of this administration that Osinbajo, even in the face of indictment by the House of Representatives, still conjures the temerity to confront Nigerians and try to wave off this corrupt act?
“We ask; how can Osinbajo find inner peace when all the six states of the Northeast reported that they never received the emergency intervention for food security?
“From the probe, which exposed how the Vice President, then as Acting President, in 2017, drew N5.8 billion from the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the federation, without the appropriation of the National Assembly, only to superintend over the purported spending as the Chairman of Board of the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, it is clear that it was never in the interest of the suffering and displaced masses.”

PoliticsWhy Your Running Mate Cannot Save Your Admin – Sanga Youths To El-rufai by Modarun(op): 10:26am On Nov 17, 2018
Published on November 17, 2018
By Amos Tauna

A group under the auspices of Sanga Youth Initiative for Peace and Development from the same local government with Dr Hadiza Balarebe, El-Rufai’s running mate, has vehemently said that the choice of Mallam Nasir el-Rufai’s running mate will not save his administration from capsizing.
The group in a statement jointly signed and issued by Ayuba John Gwantu (Esq), Mohammed Abudulahi Avenkong, Paul Amba Peter Jnr said, “We want to categorically state it clearly that whoever El-Rufai picked as his running mate will not save his administration from capsizing and will not heal the wounds he, (Nasir Gov. El-rufai) inflicted on the good people of Sanga local government.
“We are surprised that while other local governments who did not support and vote for Mallam Nasir El-rufai in 2015, were rewarded with juicy appointments, Sanga L.G was completely neglected for good 3 years, until when the chips went down.
“You have betrayed us once, hence cannot and will never be trusted again.
“His choice of a Muslim running mate from Sanga is meant to divide Kaduna state along religious and ethnic line, hence must be completely rejected.”
The group urged the people not to allow themselves to be swindled by such political plot by what they called ‘anti-people administration’.
