Teebaba1456: Mummies in the house Good morning to you all. Please i am confused on an issue and i know you are the only one that can actually help me.
My wife is 36 weeks pregnant and we are already prepared for Delivery with all items intact.. According to scans and checkup by the hospitals as well as that of my mother-in-law who happens to be a retired matron/midwife. We might likely have big baby (size of current baby in the womb is likely bigger than the expected) and the fact that baby might not come till 40weeks might be a little bit tough for the mother to deliver vaginally which calls for my little concern.
Firstly, we are ruling out CS, yeah i know it's safe these days but we are not subscribing for that.
Her mom gave us the option of Induction before 40weeks which is exactly why am here.
my fears and questions are...
My understanding about induction is that it is done when a baby wouldnt come after 40 weeks, can it be done earlier? (Lets say 37/38th week)
Has anyone here done anything like this before?
How safe is induction. Are there any risk involved?
Is it advisable?
Thanks in anticipation. with my little experience I'll advice you to let her carry her baby to term, either CS or V/D the most important thing is for the mother and the baby to be safe, I have once have a 4.5 kg normal delivery, it was even my first pregnancy, you see that inducement you're talking about; the pain No be moinmoin oooo,I had it when I was having recurrent malaria so the doctor suggest they induce me so I won't cobalize the baby lol. you cannot compare a labour that comes on its own with inducement. in summary let her carry her baby to term and allow the doctor to suggest which delivery method is safer. |

jenifer007: Honestly let's call a spade a spade she wasn't wrong by slapping her....she is human.. Why do we see wives as a nobody in their matrimonial homes. The sister in law is just so spoilt and should be the one to apologize. If my brother's wife slapped my sis for bringing in a man to sleep with,I will make sure I also join my sister in law in giving my sister extra slaps so that her brain can reset to normal.
I am not saying peace should not reign but the sister in law must also be remorseful and ready to apologize... Making peace shouldn't be one sided. don't get me wrong madam, I didn't say the sis in-law was right with her behavior and also the wife didn't say she saw the in-law sleeping with the church friend or whatever I guess he came as a boy friend to vist, but from my own point of view it is wrong to have slap her. see it is easier to judge I understand that she slapped her out of annoyance but trust me it is wrong. I also have an inlaw staying with me for years now so I understood the wife's plight cos it isn't easy to cope with in-laws unlike your own blood. |

@Redrosely you've really tried cos its not easy to accommodate in-law ,but let me point this out; you were wrong for slapping her cos if you learnt a wife to your bro slap your younger sis how will you feel. apologise to her for peace to reign, that's my own piece of advice. |

My heart curses this man morning sis, pls don't curse him for the sake of the baby , with time everything will fall in place. if one should talk or react base on the way men act or speak a whole lot of things will be damage beyond redemption. just try and look away at times God will come to our rescue, it will surely end in praise. |

Trippleblessing: My sister, please listen. I don't have a child yet but I have watched my sis in law almost killed herself when her baby had jaundice and the private specialist hospital she/we was/were using continue milking us till there is no money and the hospital asked her to talk her baby somewhere else since they don't have money. 4am, she got a car to take her to shomolu health centre, from there the baby was transferred to Massey. the nurses and doctors at Massey abused our lives but we didn't mind. Baby was taken from us and kept under the light with ultimate care. within a week we have our baby back. one thing we learnt from that situation was that, private hospital sometimes intentionally delay treatment so as to milk their patients. I was also having some treatment in same hospital, I stopped when the madam said trigger injection is 10,000 per shot, after paying 5000 for consultation each time i visit the hospital, when I told this my sis in law, she felt I wasn't serious about TTC, until the woman milked her too. please if you have the means take that baby to Massey or any government owned hospital that you know can take care of such. I know most health centre will such baby and they transferred to a higher institution if need be. I had wanted to say this ( taking the child to Massey), @bettylizzy if you are in Lagos, find your way to Massey children hospital for the sake of that baby and if you are not in Lagos move that baby away from that private facility, take him to general hospital or teaching hospital around you. private will keep milking you until you have nothing more left moreover they don't always have much pead consultant as government hospital. at Massey you will spend less and the child will be well attended to by specialist but the nurses and cleaners get bad mouth sha ooooo, just ignore them. |

Itissettled3: Capo @Patking. Sorry for my silence, I was fighting battles.
Birth announce and Birth story.
My EDD was May 10 but because I was opting for elective CS, I joined Team April.
January 31 after Eating one sweet porridge Yam, I noticed I felt wet. I entered the bathroom to check, immediately I pulled my underwear, a large pool of blood poured. I was rushed to the hospital where it was discovered I had a total placenta abruption.
Dr. Said she has to do an immediate Csection to save my life. I was only 25 weeks and 4 days (6.5 months) pregnant. My baby was brought out weighing 748grams.
As she laid in her isolette and the doctors not giving any hope, I cried to God, begging him to save her and pledging that I will share her testimony round the world. I said "please heal her and make her testimony draw souls to Christ."
God had mercy on us. He saved her. He kept her. He gave us a song and His words in John 11 VS 4 which was my prayer did not fall to the ground.
We were told the 1st 24 hours were crucial. The hospital where I gave birth has a low level NICU and so she had to be airlifted to another hospital. They were not sure how she will do on the flight but God kept her.
We had a tough start. She went through: 1. 9 initial intubation trial 2. PDA(An open hole in the heart) which closed after ibruprofen therapy. 3. NEC Suspicion(perforation of the intestine because of its immaturity. 4. 8 blood transfusions 5. 41 days on the ventilator 6. We later moved to CPAP another breathing machine. A total of 43days on CPAP 7. She was moved to regular Oxygen. She didn't hold up well and went back to CPAP. She was tried again and it was ok. She is off all support. 8. Uncountable Xrays and ultrasounds 9. 2 MRIs.
God saved my baby. I totally depended on God and pleaded with him for mercy. My heart was in shambles but God gently put them together. I drew comfort from God's words and knew I could not give up. I said this bible verse everyday
" John 11 vs 4, When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it."
We had a great team at the NICU(Neonatal Intensive care unit) who God used to take good care of my daughter.
After 108 days, I got to take my daughter home.
It is time to tell the world about the Miracle call Eloghosa. We spent 108 day in the NICU. At discharge she weighed 3.7kg. Is God not good?
Her name means It is not difficult with God.
God is Awesome.
John 11 vs 4.
When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it."
Jeremiah 32: 27
Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh: is there any thing too hard for me? may God be praise, you have truly been through a lot. may God replenish you in all spheres of life. |

Lyoncrescent: We couldn't make it today but we would go to olan tomorrow. I think the key thing for me and my wife is not just the hospital but the experience and competency of the obn/gyn consultant that we are going to see. Not everyone of them is experienced in handling high risk pregnancies even though it's all in the hand of God you want the best care. Olan said we will be seen by Dr Emmanuel soyoola. I checked him out and he seems good. Nothing exceptional that most consultants in Nigeria don't have but I prefer someone who also has empathy.
I remember when we had a miscarriage at over 9 weeks last year at mother and child near omole, I feel we didn't get enough empathy or information or counselling. It was tough and the consultant we saw there later told us that the best thing is to remove the fibroid even though they were not conclusive that the miscarriage was caused by the fibroid and we had been assured that the fibroid won't trouble the child. The bill for the operation was 900k which we were ready to pay but my wife was such in an emotional state that operation wasn't an option . The funny thing is we saw our baby in the ultrasound and the doctor at mother and child said all was fine, an hour later she was in pain and the baby literally came out on its own when she was coughing and stretching in pain. After counseling somewhere else and all, we got pregnant again and here we are. I'm not an expert and I'm sure the doctors did their best but I didn't feel there was enough empathy especially for my wife. That's why we are Searching. All in all,I'm not running down mother and child just sharing my experience and I recognize some of these things are the will of God and no matter how expert the doctor is, God's will will be done however when God's will is done, medical practitioners should show empathy and counselling especially when you literally saw it come out. It is well. We stay strong and we carry till full term.
For Christians in the house, Exodus 23:26 New Living Translation (NLT) 26 There will be no miscarriages or infertility in your land, and I will give you long, full lives. if distance is not a barrier to you, you can check federal medical center ebutte metta, its a nice hospital with enough experienced gyneas |
