Very sad, because this kind of thing happens all over Nigeria, kids beaten indiscrimately for very stupid reasons, but then again, so safe guards in place, another sign of failure by the government
FamilyNuru Ibrahim, Nine Year Old Pupil's Hand Rots After School Canning by monkeyleg(op): 10:54pm On Dec 09, 2011
A CLASS-two pupil of Asamakama Primary School at Offinso in the Ashanti Region has developed a swollen hand after he was allegedly caned severely by his teacher.

The young boy, Nuru Ibrahim, 9, allegedly suffered the severe injuries on his left hand when he was whipped by one Amoako Samuel, his class teacher.

Narrating his ordeal to DAILY GUIDE, young Ibrahim said about three weeks ago, Mr. Amoako whipped him in front of the entire class for being absent from class the previous day.

He explained that his father was travelling to Kumasi on that fateful day and since nobody was in the house, he asked him to stay at home and take care of his younger brother.

FamilyRe: Olden Days Vs Modern Days Marriages by monkeyleg: 11:14am On Dec 09, 2011
Simple, the values of the olden days and different from the values of today. Not to say that the values of today are better than the values of years gone by. I would argue that the meaning of marriage today has been so distorted selfishly, that is some cases it loses the meaning entirely. No wonder people divorce today for what ever reason suits them

EducationRe: Fashola Defends And Justifies The Increment Of LASU Fees by monkeyleg: 10:17am On Dec 07, 2011
Listen guys, Fashola has a point. Let's not forget that the so called best institutions in our country from primary to Uni are the private ones which a lot of investment have gone into and charge premium rates as well.

The UK recently increased tution fees from £3k to £9K. same argument, if you one your institutions to compete on a global scale, you have got to make the investments.

Now, I do accept the increment is not in line with minimum wage or within the common mans reach, and that is why he should have Put up a programme of students loans or assistance before the hike
FamilyRe: Women! Please Stay With Your Husbands: by monkeyleg: 9:35am On Dec 07, 2011
@LOVE.4BUG,

By virture of Oga being the one that pays the maids bill, she is likely to say she submitted willingly. I seriously doubt she would own up to being intimitated into it, we all know what the consequence would have been.

By the way, my point being the maid was in a very vulnerable position, as they always are in Nigeria , and Oga took advantage of it. Now no one has said anything about the potential seriousness of a failed D&C, all because we want to save Oga's skin.

Like I say it is unfortunate, because the same drama is playing out in so many homes in the Nigeria, and really no one is talking about safeguarding maids that are in this sort of position.

We all know what happened to Dominique Struass Khan when he used his position to sexually harrass the chambermaid, but not in Nigeria
FamilyRe: Women! Please Stay With Your Husbands: by monkeyleg: 4:37pm On Dec 06, 2011
Truth be said, whilst there might be a slight case of temptation here, I think the bigger question here is that this damn thing is far too common in our society. Just another symptom of the rot.

Most likely this happened, becuase Oga used his position to more or less intimidate the girl into submission. Is there a case for sexual harrassment?

We talk about the Temptation of the Man, what about the harrassment of the maid? There is no clear indication that she willfully gave into this

Again, what about his marriage? did it not matter enough to him for him to have kept clear. After all it was based on choice that his wife was not available. I really hate it when anyone tries to justify cheating, especially when the vunerable maid is involved

This s=is really bad though, why are liek this to each other. Sometime we Nigerians can be very inconsiderate. This is very wicked, so in the process of the chap not paying his bill, he takes you down with him. I really dont think this is an issues for you are your husband to shy away from. You husband must confront it head on, if the co-tenant does not care about your welfare, then really you shouldnt have a problem doing what is right. Please tell you husband to grow balls and confront the issue

Listen guys. I am a die-hard critic of the falling system in our country, but we must recognise some good and take positives out of them. The job is far from done, but it si encouraging to see that there has been a slight shift in outside perception, it can only be a good thing for all Nigerians. However, the real cleanup job has not even started

PoliticsRe: Confirmed: Dr Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan Is An Election Fraudster, Rigger, Result by monkeyleg: 2:16pm On Nov 12, 2011
Yes, he is appealing. It amazes me that Uduaghan would do anything to hold onto power, including holding the enitre Delta state hostage. He is the only Phucking kunt who thinks there is something worth celebrating in Delta state

Justice, may take time, but will surely prevail
PoliticsRe: Confirmed: Dr Emmanuel Ewetan Uduaghan Is An Election Fraudster, Rigger, Result by monkeyleg: 10:47pm On Nov 11, 2011
compare. In the UK a councilor was stripped of his victory and kicked out of the Labour party because he used false information about his opposition on his election material. That is Justice.

In Nigeria, a Governor supports the falsification of election results, he is hailed a Hero and a sham election declared in his favour, even by the corrupt to the core judicial system. Where is the common man expected to seek Justice. Yet we claim democracy exists in Nigeria

HealthRe: 'Majority Of 15,000 Doctors Trained By UCH Work Abroad' by monkeyleg: 10:47am On Nov 06, 2011
I think both sides of the argument have points, but again the main let down here is the Government, once again. I often challenge a lot of my good friend who are top consultants in the UK and US to return back home and help, but believe me the story is not as straightforward as we all think.

Good friend (Top doctor), returns home to go give his time (6months) free of charge to help introduce and imprive better working practices. Within 4 weeks of the good work he was doing in a top University teaching hospital, he got summoned in by one of the senior managers and was told to not to and mess with thier tactics. and in the process they tried to fustrate him, he just packed his things are retruned back to the US.

Yes the money in medicine is good, but most would tell you they would want an environment where they can have a fullfilling career with great prospect for progression.

I trust you would know much about ass, after all the ass-licking you have been doing. And for what? scraps, better be careful oh, shey you know your master doesnt pay, he is owing contractors everywhere. It is a pity that your wicked conscience has not pricked you to abandorn your evil ways. You are quite happy to see your own state remain the way it is, whilst you go an critisize other better working governors.

I keep reminding you, go and find a proper job, this your vulture lifestyle cannot help you when things start working in Nigeria. Your likes would become exticnt

Simple question, point out where I stoked up quarel with others, you cant so you resort to your usual back-street alley, gutter behaviour
