About 2 weeks ago li got a request around Antony, the rider was going to oshodi I noticed he was coming down from a Corolla so I asked is that a uber driver he said yes he said the driver could not continue because his car was overheating he said I was his 4th uber ride. The 1st one had mechanical problems while the other 2 suffered from overheating... where is this biz heading in 2019. P.s. I dropped him off safely in ojo.

I thought its very lucrative listening to comments of riders
Add the issue of unscrupulous mechanics, lastma, vios, police, riders begging for discount, traffic congestion to the mix, honestly this biz is just to ensure you keep body and soul together. More wacky cars are added daily, partners are no longer willing to put down grade A tokunbo cars, hire purchase tricks aint working, because the average driver does not really care about hp, but will use the car like a sex starved hyena, dump it within 6 months and start looking for the next hp deal dump the deal again within 6 months, so that within 18 to 24 months, he can say God don bless my hustle, i now drive my own car.
Investors have wised up, that HP deals are no longer a motivating factor, the wise investors now demand upfront deposit, some are just selling off their cars, can't be somebody's else dummy.

I know we shared the story of how fuel attendant cheat their clients.
This almost happened to me today.
I had just closed for the day and decided to just buy N2k fuel, incase i decide to start the hustle early tomorrow.
I drove into mobil petrol station along awolowo road, ikeja, and told the attendant to sell 2k, fuel
He asked whether cash or pos, i told him cash.
of course i was on high alert for any funny move, we have discussed their various tricks, i even told him to wait, i got down from the car and ensured i was staring directly at the meter.
He started to sell, and when he got to above N1,200, i decided to get my wallet, from getting my wallet to turning back i noticed his hand touched the fuel pump station, i really thought nothing of it, but i complained that he should have waited for me to at least see the quantity sold, he showed me the price which was N2k, but the quantity was not there, i again said he should have shown me the quantity, i really did not think he had played a fast one on me, he now said he can show me, he pressed a button and 10.xx litres read (must have pressed the wrong button), i failed to do a mental calculation, i just entered my car, looked at the gauge level and said this should be about N2k
Instead of me driving off, i went to park beside the petrol station shopping mart, i was removing all my cables, and putting all stuff inside my bag.
suddenly i heard a voice, oga, oga, i have been calling you that i did not finish selling you your fuel, here is your change and he gave me N500.
The panicky fuel attendant thought i had done a mental calculation of 10.xx litres and i was packing my car about to come out, either to vent my anger or report him, he panicked and quickly ran to me to give me my N500 change.
we should be more carefully, you sometimes wonder why we are not seeing the profit after a hard days work.

Not wanted in the Estates, hunted by LGA touts on the road, targeted at the airports, now to add insult to injury not wanted on the beaches, where is this e-hailing biz heading to in Naija?

Dont park.

Do your drop off and leave. That's why I said you should conclude with your money and when you get there, your client comes down and you zoom off

One must be smart in order to drive happily in Lagos
...and you zoom off...
Driving on uber should not be a nightmare experience but we are sadly being conditioned to behave like the agberos.
I too have had to zoom off this week 2 guys in yellow top approached me.
Lga touts: you are not supposed to be parked here
Me; no response (started my car)
Lga touts: we have already clamped ur car and if you move you will damage it.
Me: zoomed off.
There was no clamp.
Uber and taxify need to look into this issue.

Sorry to disappoint you, but half nude ladies don't move me. I can give several instances of when I carried them. They don't move me one bit

Fahrenz:
bro.

There is difference between being moved, and acting on what you see. There are girls and there are girls. I have the types of girls I like. Not all girls I see on a normal day will attract me. Not all half nude ladies I carry will move me. But I will never lie and say NONE of my riders has ever moved me with their accent, perfume or looks.
Let me buttress Fahrenz post, by sharing my experience last week, picked up a lady somewhere in lekki phase 1 going to one of the beach resort... she looked pretty ... well are they not all with their pancaked face, even if you were a saint you could not close your eyes to her natural endowment, but we are professionals and have a job to do.
I moved forward, with the intention of letting her sit at the back, but she decided to sit in front, so i started the trip.
i drove slowly especially on bumpy surfaces, because the way her jugs was bouncing left and right, even 1 was fearful that her button might not be able to contain the container, this was truly what they call "OVERLOAD", but i told myself i would not be moved.

Then she brought out a small case, opened it and started massaging her legs slowly and methodically, the scent was overwhelming suddenly alarm bells where ringing, i actually wanted to roll down the glass, i am not her intended victim so why is she making me to endure this "poisoned chalice scent"!

The scent had its effect, i dropped her off at her final destination, and in my mind i wished her the very best on her mission!

I don't know about you guys, but i have observed something most heavy chested ladies, prefer to sit in the front rather than the back seat, k, this is my statistical observation!
Perhaps the heavily endowed ladies sit in front to ensure we drivers rate them 5 stars! Perhaps the number of stars we give them is an assurance that Mount Olympus has not fallen!
BusinessRe: If You Are Uber Partner In Lagos, Please Share Your Experience Here by MoonlightDrive: 1:15am On Feb 03, 2019
I have always observed that when there is a GPS issue and the fare is less than what it should be, the riders are always eager to say, "don't worry i will rate you 5 stars", why don't they just say it is even lower than the minimum estimate when they booked the ride.
I took a rider from surulere to Lagos Island, it took me over 10 minutes to drive to her pickup point, i even endured the bad road, ended the trip and saw N1,000, she smiled and said "I will rate you 5 stars". You might be wondering why i did not do a fare review before confirming the price, sometimes out of shock you forget to do the right thing. It was also on Taxify so i just rendered community service free of charge to the rider.

Do Riders believe we use 5 Stars rating to buy fuel into our tanks?

You're very correct, some of those ones that will collect fare from their boyfriend, when they get to destination are the worst.

P.S driving is not an exercise
Long hours of driving is actually a silent killer. All ehailing app company should set drivers driving time limit to not more than 9 hours. We must even give uber kudos for having driving time limit... obviously taxify does not care about the health of their drivers and the safety implications to both riders and drivers

Whether you post ur earnings or not uber/taxify knows what each of their drivers earn they do not need to view posts on nairaland. I also would not mind posting my earnings but I love to remain as anonymous as possible.

therefore don't go online by 6pm. Make the strike total.

I am sure you don't own the car you drive.
Let me confess my rest day is Monday, but if the strike is called for any day, I will comply.

Back to the issue, believe me if we can achieve unity of purpose everybody will be a winner.

Taxify and uber should not use the bad economic situation in the country as a reason to exploit drivers and partners.

Some drivers have practically turned their vehicle to hotels just to meet weekly delivery to partners.

New partners are refusing to come onboard with tokunbo cars, the new deal for drivers are refurbished Nigerian used cars.

On the issue of whether I own my vehicle, I really cannot see the relevance of that question.

Hello everyone,
I posted a rideshare screen thing, I would advise we all try getting one.
Please just take my advice and register for one.
It's a win-win for you, the company pays for the screens and the content, they aren't collecting a dime from you.
I know it sounds vague the way I relate it, but it's quite real, this is because i can't post company details until the launch in December.
Once the release happens then the screens are going to become popular and it may not be as easy to get one.
I won't put the link in this post because it's not an advert, it's just advise to my people here.
Cheers.
I hope riders have the option to switch off the screen?

Guys, how do you handle riders with overload.

Got a request at Oshodi, parked and waited for like 7 mins only for them to occupy my backseat (4 at the back, pleading), "bros, please we are students, going to Unilag, please sir!"

Taxify.

I respectful tell them that it is against uber/taxify policy.
They may plead all they like, but will pleading get your shocks fixed at the mechanic? And if God forbid your enemy is involved in an accident with varying degrees of injuries, carrying excess passengers will surely get you in to more trouble.

They are known as the GPS crew… their winning formula is thus
G = Get up early by 4/5a.m and hit the road
P = Positioning is King
S = Speed Racer
A beautiful day last week.
You hear the experts in the house screaming its all about positioning, its all about getting out of bed early and burning rubber by 5 a.m, so many theories on how to earn the fat uber pay check.
On Monday I hit the road by 5 a.m, i wanted to ensure the big buck rolls in before end of day, did same for Tuesday, but on Wednesday, i was so annoyed for leaving the house after 9 a.m for the hustle, but surprisingly I had the highest earnings compared to the previous 2 days when I work up so early and employed all the GPS tactics.
On Wednesday, I headed to the airport, my first pick up was to Ikoyi, when my riders got into the car, they said they were going to Banana island, you know the nice feeling, that an instant request awaits you when you drop off your rider, the next request from banana island was back to Ikeja, (although I left the house later than usual things where really starting on a good note)
I wanted to maintain the momentum, so while, I was in Ikeja, I was thinking should I drive to Magodo, Shoprite or head back to airport, where can i Position myself to get a request as quickly as possible, while fine tuning my POSITIONAL STRATEGY, i checked the google map and saw it would take me almost 30 mins to get to the airport, so I decided to look for a corner street to chill, as I was driving I noticed an item, which I had wanted to buy in a shop, and decided to pack my car to pick up the item, after buying the item, as I was walking back to my car, my phone vibrated and fastest finger was at work and I accepted the request, my rider called, and she said the magic word “I am going to Banana Island”, (providence was surely working), (I don’t think there is any Driver born of a Woman that will reject a trip going to Banana Island,) interesting day, as I made my second trip back to Banana Island, after dropping my rider at Banana Island, I got another request immediately from Banana Island to International Airport, as I dropped my rider at the international airport, I felt though I started work later than usual I was satisfied for the day, time to call it a day and head back to my crib in Ikeja, as I was in this thought mode, the phone vibrated, uber magnet was at work and my finger mysteriously tapped the screen, the rider called and said he was going to V/I, all these long trips, this was a dangerous gamble, it was quite late, I don’t want to drive back empty all the way from V/I back to Ikeja, it was a risk I decided to take, as I dropped off my rider at Victoria Island, I frantically started to battle to set destination back to Ikeja, hell no Uber needed more drivers on the island, I just could not set destination, another request came in the rider was going somewhere in Lekki Phase 2, I almost wanted to cancel, because, I needed trips that will take me closer to and not further from Ikeja, but as I dropped my rider somewhere in Lekki phase 2 another request came in while on trip, this time the rider was heading to the mainland, truly the day ended on a beautiful note, earned more than the previous two days, sometimes we just cannot control what to expect, whether we start the hustle early or not.

I tell you.
One thing is certain it's not easy to drive especially in this Lagos.
I am listening to a program on radio this moment and the anchor said something. He said when he told his dad he wants to start driving the Dad asked him a question that he has never forgotten up till this day.
The Dad asked him do you know that anybody holding steering is close to his grave.
And that's the truth, I had my first accident when I started ehailing.
If nobody praise me I praise myself jare
i recall that my friend's father passed away while driving through traffic gridlock.
All drivers in the house trying to achieve their targets for their partners should take am easy, life no get duplicate.

U don’t have a problem, I have done this before at iyana oworo bustop. I stylishly removed the car key from d bunch of keys while I was still pleading with him and gave him d rest. The foolish guy just left me there to go arrest another car. In his mind, he’s impounded my car. I just enter my car and drove off. Na my house key I give am
I will like to share also a not so best practice experience but as the saying goes if you live in a concrete jungle then ...
It happened some months back i had picked up my rider from ikeja enroute to some where in obanikoro.
I had passed through Joel Ogunnaiike street, with the plan of connecting back to bank anthony way, i was on queue at the traffic junction on Joel Ogunnike street, when some cars ahead of me moved, the traffic light has poor visibility and it changes from green to red with little or no notice.
I had followed the cars that moved thinking we were all in the clear, then i noticed that the Mobile bike police was already ahead, he was pursuing one of the first offender, but suddenly he saw my car and decided i was a better catch.
i veered into Bank Anthony heading towards maryland, he started signalling me to park, i refused to listen, i already had the intention of making a u turn opposite the former leventis, unluckily for me there was a build up of traffic, he was soon ahead of me and had signalled cars at my my left lane to stop, confident that i was trapped he packed directly in front of me, the look of satisfaction on his face was so overwhelming, his stomach acid must have been churning that 1 week breakfast, lunch and diner was at hand, as he got down the bike and started walking towards me majestically, I noticed that my right lane was now free, i did a Louis Hamilton kind of right turn, he was in shock, he did not know what to do, the look of utter confusion on his face was epic. I quickly veered off to Adekunle Fajuyi and entered another corner street. i kept on thinking if this mobile cop follows me, i will show him that Louis Hamilton is a learner.
Me and my passenger laid low for almost 5 mins, i took an alternative route to avoid Bank Anthony. I ended the trip early so that the rider will not incur additional charges.
I apologized to my rider, that uber drivers are not always gangster like, but honestly i did not feel like dashing out my money to any greedy cop.
Cant recollect if my young rider gave me a 5 star or not, but the smile on his face when he got down from the car made my day, i am sure this was his most thrilling uber ride to date.

Completely low, and one person will b requesting from 10mins, only to buy bread at a short distance... The kind swear I dash such rider, in fact I've been off uber for some time now. Thanks to some offline stuff, like on Friday while i was dropping someone at d airport on offline trip, one of my sure business partner requested I get some stuff from him from Ikeja and bring it to Oregun d next day... I billed him 20k and he agree to pay 18k, the way I park the car in front of the office, its like I use stone to shock the 4 legs, enter inside the office and slept off while I wait for dem to process what I came for. There is a need to pay attention to pricing in this business if they really wish drivers well, cos on their part, its more of soldier come, soldier go, its not only the car that will suffer, even the sun is not friendly to the body.
Even under chilling a.c. you can feel the biting sting of the sun. Is there uber compensation for skin discoloration?

..

The real story is that a lot of partners give out dead cars.. And also from my experience maintenance is one of the real issues.. One thing I couldn't understand is the use of water instead of coolant.. So what do u expect, there will be a lot partners cashing out ...bad manager has a lot to do with partners cashing out ...to me personally the business is still very good if you have the following.
1. Good drivers
2. Alive cars , I heard one particular partner gives out dead cars.
3. If you don't have good maintenance culture, you have no business in the uber business.
4. A trust worthy mechanic.. Have spend so much money on one of my gear box..this problem has been going on for months and months... I got a new mechanic and within a week he fix it .. Because of the new mechanic, I have a new lease in the business.. So this is the major reasons partners are cashing out.. And I pray that they continue to cash out .. So that I can continue doing the business.. All my advice fell on deaf ears ,so please partners continue cashing out ..in the mist of their cashing out ,if I can get at least 5 to 10 solid drivers I will be grateful.. And not all drivers are bad, sometimes you will need to kiss a few frogs before you find your Mr. Prince
If managing drivers was that easy, trust me uber and taxify would have been in the biz. With the advent of driveless cars, uber is not asking for partners to bring in their driveless cars into the pool, but uber is now massively building their inventory of driveless cars. Managing just 2 drivers talkless of 10 ain't easy bro.
