mikeapollo: This is good! Shareholders of Oando would not just sit idle and allow some shenanigans to take place in broad daylight. Now we need to know and see faces of the people behind this attempt to rob innocent shareholders of their investments. My only fear is that the case will linger for longer time. Except their is a settlement out of court, be sure that the case won't be concluded this year. |

Besides, anyone wey wan commot make e commot make others see road..... They place buy order at the highest price so that if it goes the other way and there is full offer, the order fails and they don't lose money. But if the news is positive from the court then their order at the highest prices might go thruogh on full bid. |

It seems they use Nascon to enter the dangfood, reason why they don't let it rise too much in price. Nasco sold over 1million units today, yet no rise in price. |

ositadima1: Even if it is $1 million, it is commendable. If we had many indigenous companies like that repatriating funds from foreign operations, Nigeria would be in a much better position. It is no droubt commendable, and I cannot in anyway criticise dangote for that. I only have reservations on the fact that our biggest export is not substantial enough as to affect the exchange rate. It also goes to the question of why the british pounds is valued higher than our currency. British companies bring in over 50billion pounds per year while ours is less than 3billion pounds. |

How much did they repatriate. Dangote cement as a company has a total (home and abroad)revenue of less than $1billion |

defebe: What is UK producing that is making GBP stable against they dollar..UK has a nation is always in trade deficit They know how to play the game. Go to UK you will hardly see any foreign currency aprt from the pounds, and you hardly send their pounds out. They also highly restrict trades in foreign goods especially food items. They bring all sorts of barriers in the name of standards and test that ensure that you hardly import. They consume mostly UK items and still export to african countries while rating our goods as substandard. They also have many multinational companies that like shell etc that bring in lots of revenue. They also somehow benefit from our poverty and corruption such that we provide them with cheap labour, fund some of their institutions through billions we (and other african and asians) pay as school fees etc most of their banks and real estate are financed with stolen money from africa. Finally they have a very very effective tax system. |

We dont know yet why it has been flying. Could some form of Ote$ be involved. Mind you the majority shareholders in transcorp hotel are 1) The federal Government 2) Transcorp. These two own about 87.2 of the total OS. Its not necessarily the result that is pushing this one I think someone is buying at all cost maybe to force a takeover. |

Most of us that recently added or entered transcorp did not do so just on the expectation of a good result but rather on the anticipated corporate action(which we suspect to be unbundling) Thats why we have been adding more on each low. Hopefully they will do a favourable unbundling exercise like he did with UBA in those days, that gave us ucap, afriprud and one other company like that. |

BullBearMkt: DANGOTE REFINERY SET TO IMPORT CRUDE OIL FROM THE US Recent reports indicated that Dangote Refinery is planning importing crude oil from the United States. This development has sparked discussions, with some questioning the refinery's commitment to Nigeria's oil industry and its patriotism. However, it's important to view this move from a business perspective.
Dangote Refinery, as a business entity, is seeking ways to reduce costs to maximize its profits. One of the key factors driving this consideration is likely to be the cost differential between Brent oil, commonly associated with Nigerian oil, and WTI (West Texas Intermediate) oil from the US. While Brent oil is known for its higher quality, it comes at a higher cost.
Opting to import WTI for refining purposes can be a sound business decision due to the cost advantage it offers. The crucial question arises when it comes to the pricing of refined products. Will Dangote Refinery price its products as if they were refined from Brent oil, or will they pass on the cost savings to consumers by offering competitive prices?
If Dangote Refinery chooses to sell its refined products at a price reflective of WTI cost, it would alleviate concerns among Nigerians.
Another major concern would be the pressure on dollars (or foreign exchange), which the country is currently dealing with. I doubt if its just the cost difference that led Dangote to US, considering the cost of shipping, tax, and the fact that the difference in price between the grades is just 5$. I think the frustrations of relying on Nigerian oil with all the disruptions and breach if agreements may just be the main reason. We all saw how he literally begged for crude supply from Nigeria since November last year, and the miserly 6million barrels they agreed to give since then, a Refinery that needs almost 10million barrels a month for now, and more than 18milliin barrels per month on full production. |

stcool: NGN23+B in profit with EPS NGN+2...we are going somewhere.
This one don enter my long term Keep When I told someone here that he shouldn't rejoice yet on fcmb 200% increase in profit, these are the things I meant. WEMA did over 250%, yet I think there is still more to come from the banking industry. We shall see over 600% increase in PAT. But in all of these, what really matters is the divudends that would be paid. |

FCMB has a better P/E ratio than Fidelity My fear for both fcmb and fdelity is that dey may not survive the next CBN minimum capital requirement without serious modifications Where fcmb want take get 900billion naira. That least OS you se today will soon be over bloated |
