omo I don taya to type plenty. Just know this,
1. I am no longer on the £1k per month job as it was a job I had to do to find my bearing immediately I got here and that lasted just 3 months.
2. In those 3 months, I was able to sort out all my expenses and send more than I ever could to my folks who at one point or the other needed help when in Nigeria on 230k per month.
3. I have my peace of mind and sanity in a country that works.
If you want to remain stagnant in one job that pays less than £300 a month, that’s fine so long as you’re content.
I started from £1k working less than 4hrs a day and I’ve gone up to another better job that pays over £2,500 a month with my expenses still being dsame meaning I now save over 1k per month. Whether in nige or in the UK, that is doing well financially. Thankfully, I don’t have family members that weigh me down.

ok sir, now answer this very simple question: CAN YOU SUSTAIN (with your £2.5K monthly in the UK), THE LIFESTYLE YOU HAD IN NIGERIA EARNING 230K monthly?

I always say this to people….. this mindset is ignorant. I was on 230k before I left Nigeria and I must say my first 5 months in the UK as a cleaner was waaaaay better than I was for over 3 years in Lagos. When people think the UK is expensive, I laugh. I laugh because there’s a lot of places in the UK you can live that are not expensive. People think of UK and the place that comes to their minds to have a life is London or other expensive places wjen you literally can live in aberdeen (which is where I live.) as a cleaner on £1k(after tax) monthly then, I got a 2 bedroom house on Broomhill Road (view pictures of the neighborhood on google) and the rent was £550 (still is) got a flat mate to take the second room and we split rent in 2 making my share of the rent £275 a month and an extra 50 for light and heating bringing total bill to £325/ month leaving me with £675. Out of that, £100 goes for monthly groceries, £57 goes for my monthly bus ticket leaving me with £518… if I need to flex, £200 will do A WHOLE LOT (and I’m an introvert…. A pack of beer and PS5 or a movie are my flex and pack of beer no even reach £10) and I’ll still have over £300 to save (which is more actually because I no de use up to £200 flex).

Now in UK sef, £300(assuming i kuku flexed with £200) is a lot of money saved. Now convert that 300 pounds to naira… that’s over NGN 280k in savings monthly after all my expenses even if I wan flex……. How many of you can comfortably save that amount after all ur expenses in Nigeria even with ur supposed high paying jobs? (Note: this calculation is on the earning of a cleaner and not a high end job.)

See payslip below…. Also note that this pay came from working less than 4hrs on some days and maximum of 4 hours on some other days….

How many hours a day do you have to work daily every day to earn 150k in Nigeria again?

I am a kind of person who sweats a lot. Sometimes I bath up to 5 times a day. I shave my armpit regularly, but it still has this unpleasant smell. I experimented something last week and since then armpit smell has been a thing of the past. Just follow these simple steps

1) Shave your armpit clean
2) Get any antiseptic soap of your choice.
3) Take your bath with the soap
4) Towel dry your body
5) Get the already wet soap and rub your armpit(Remember to be generous with it)
6) Allow to dry and you are covered for the day.

am confused...does that stop the foul smell or the sweating?

the issue is that many people confuse ANTIPERSPIRANT with DEODORANT. they both are for different use, yet sadly many people dont understand that one will stop you from sweating but not the foul smell, while the other is to get rid of the smell and not the heavy sweating.

A) privileged colleagues waiting to push out/up will happen EVERYWHERE in the world, even in Nigeria.
B) you really want to compare these few places in Africa with entire countries in the west? 90% of the west is great to live in (and you dont need to be rich to live there), while about only 10% of Africa is (and you need to be RICH to live there)....see the difference?
C) second class citizen devoid of civil rights?!?!? where?!?!?
D) dont you know that your life as a NIGERIAN can be wasted IN NIGERIA, without questions asked?
E) try to talk recklessly to a cop in Nigeria and see what happens?

IMHO, you should never try to comapre Africa with the west, these are two different worlds, with each having their own greatness and negativities. furthermore, we should never try to look down on people who live in these places.some fail, some succeed, and life goes on...using single instances to generalize about these places aint right.

Exactly my point. If anything is worth doing, it's worth doing well. If Nigeria can't afford a National carrier, then we should let it rest. It's not a must, instead of wasting public funds on some jamboree.
It did not take Air Peace 8 years to buy brand new planes. If memory serves me right, they procured those Embraers in 2017 2021. Even Emirates started with 99 fleets of jets and some were new in 2003. The principle is in the economic cost not just the optics. This is surely a conduit for corruption and its cover-up to any discerning mind

the Nigerian gov probably CAN afford a national carrier, but you people should stop expecting it to be at the level of Emirates and the likes.... let them start slow and build something of VALUE, and not some yeye airline that wouldnt be able to sustain itself. expecting the Nigerian Gov to buy 99 brand spanking new airplanes (like Emirates) is not only foolish, its a sure way to go bust within a year!!.

by all means, let me educate you on the subject:
A) if you buy 99 planes, then you have to make sure that these planes can fly to at least 45 different destinations around the world WHILE BEING FULL OF PASSENGERS....flying an empty plane is a waste of money/ressources. so the problem that you have here is to believe that as soon as that Ngerian carrier start its operation, they would have customers lining up to fly with them, to wherever you expect these 99planes to fly to (like Emirate, right?). so like Emirates you expect that Nigerian carrier to fly everywhere in Europe, Australia, North/South America, Asia etc....with what customer exactly? so you think that from the get go all Nigerians will stop flying BA or United or Air france and now fly Nigerian Air abi (even if the other airline prices are cheaper)?!
as much as you are entitled to your opinion, i strongly believe that such structured airline in Nigeria will fail within a year.

B) that airline will go against giants of the skies like Emirates, BA, Air france, United etc and if you believe that it would be that easy to get a decent market share in such a competitive industry then you are indeed clueless. let me AGAIN tell you how it works: when Nigerian carrier will get a slot to fly to Paris France (for example), Air france and its allies (aka all airlines in the skyteam alliance like Delta, Virgin, KLM etc) will make sure that they beat you on prices on all your routes to France, the US, the UK etc because they have the money to do it. so they will lower they prices so that YOU also have to lower your own prices to be competitive on these routes, and subsequently die a slow death.
same shit will happen on your UK route, US routes, Chinese routes, Canadian routes etc

C) so this is why that Nigerian national carrier has to start SMALL.... 1st build a good rep on the local market with smaller planes, and open just 3/4 international routes (famous with Nigerians) with just one big jet...aka Lagos to London, Lagos to New York,Lagos to Paris, Lagos to Toronto WITH JUST THAT ONE BIG PLANE SERVICING ALL THESE INTERNATIONAL CITIES... so that plane will do Lagos to london, and then london to lagos on monday, then lagos to New York and NY to Lagos on tuesday, the same shit to Paris on wednesday, and then Toronto and back on thursday, then back to London on friday, NY on saturday and Paris on sunday.... so technically that national carrier will fly twice a week to London , NY and Paris and once a week to Toronto with just ONE BIG EXPENSIVE PLANE , and the rest should be smaller planes to fly people within Nigeria on the same model.... aka START SMALL, and build on that. you people who want Nigerian gov to buy 99 planes to fly these same planes almost empty everyday to these locations are not making any sense.... because your pride is bruised because you see how big Ethiopian or royal air Maroc is in Africa and you want Nigerian carrier to be the same. but you people fail to realize that NOTHING of value (especially as big as an airline) is build in one day!

I also wonder what difference the years they've been in operation makes. Nigeria had its first airline in 1958 while this Nigeria Air thing has been on the cards since 2015, 8 years ago

If FG wants to provide an international flight service, they should please not call it a "National Carrier".
In fact, it would have been better for national pride if they had rebranded one or two planes in the Presidential Airfleet.

ANY airline carrier is there to MAKE MONEY... nobody buys planes and fly people around the world AT A LOSS, for pride. this is a business venture and no business venture can succeed if they are constantly losing money.

the government would just have to take money from the country's coffer to bail that failed airline out, each and every time.

it all depends on A) what kind of business you are in (many businesses are open on public holiday thus no public holidays for their staff) and/or B) the type of contract you signed. you had a choice and you decided to agree to work on public holidays, so why complain now?! the nigerian gov already own planes... but to run a SUCCESSFUL NATIONAL AIRLINE in Nigeria, you need to own at least 20 planes specifically built for the business of carrying passengers, then you need plenty of staff on payroll (office staff, aiport staff, pilots, hostesses etc), then you need OFFICES, AIRPORT SLOTS etc that cost MONEY. any yeye business man can own a damn plane, but who will pay for all the above i mentionned, while you try to get this airline off the ground?

you should loan/charter planes however you see fit, until you can make ENOUGH MONEY to buy planes. only a very foolish businessman would BUY planes for a brand new airline (that you dont even know if it will last a year). the airline industry is one of the most difficult one out there. the majority dont make any money. just because its the national carrier does NOT mean they should spend 100s of millions in buying plane (same planes that they can get loaned/chartered for cheap)
